There is no stopping the mighty SORCERER and in the autumn of 2023 the band will release their highly anticipated fourth album entitled ‘Reign Of The Reaper’. Again not content with repeating themselves the album features some of the darkest, heaviest and most aggressive material the band has ever recorded, and at the same time some of the most lyrical and beautiful.
For ‘Reign Of The Reaper’ the band holed up in their home studios and wrote music all through 2022 and then once again headed to SolnaSound Recording in Stockholm, the studio owned, run and operated by Simon Johansson (Wolf, Soilwork) with Mike Wead (King Diamond) assisting, to record the drums. SORCERER likes to work with a small, tried and trusted team so therefore they once again employed the services of Ronnie Björnström (engineering/mixing/ mastering) and Jani Stefanovic (cover art for the singles & artwork booklet/packaging design); these guys have been working with the band since the first album and as per usual they delivered superbly. The striking album cover artwork was created by Swedish artist Joakim Ericsson. Conny Welén as usual handled co-production duties. Anders says: “He has been working with us since 2015 and the reunion album In The Shadow Of The Inverted Cross. Connys contribution to our sound is heard in every song; he is involved in the arrangements and plays all keyboards”. He also co-writes the vocal melodies and the foundations of some of the lyrics and on top of this he also recorded Anders’ vocals in his studio. Photographer Marieke Verschuren provided the awesome band photos as she also did on the previous album.

Came across this band when I was searching for a profile song on FB, and was blown away with...pretty much everything! The melodic riffs and epic vocals. Like a slower-paced Iron Maiden! Song was The Devil's Incubus. Instantly added to my Tidal collection!

Exactly and we all know that the Martin era is so heavily underrated. I hope the new Sorcerer album is like the already released two songs, because this is how Sorcerer should sound like. I was...welll "lamenting" with the "lamenting" so to speak, because imo it was a lot weaker than the fireking album, which is at least for me their current best album. As I said this song and Morning Star are two very promising songs.

That's because it's metal. The masses most hated music. Anything is more popular than this. But im with you. It's my favorite style of music. Sorcerer is totally awesome. Them and Syloses is my favorite modern day bands. Thier styles are night and day but both are incredible.

I've been captivated by this song for the past 4 days - it's truly exceptional and stands out with its unique style. And I've noticed that Sorcerer has a distinctive way of crafting intros and outros!!!; it's like their signature touch. And that definitely increases the recall of the song in my memory. Maybe psychologists will do some research on this XD anyway always a pleasure to listen to such artistry in doom metal.

Excellent question.
We are classified as "Epic Doom" or "Royal Epic Doom". Those labels seem to have stuck.
We don't hang ourselves up on the genre and prefer to call what we do "music". It is always fun to hear what people choose to pick for a genre and if I had to generalise I would just say, Heavy Metal.
Great album, although the lyrics are becoming tad old hat these days. These guys are hella' talented, though every member. And what a wonderful singer.
The Reaper is funny... has all the time in the world, haha. Song is okay, but the Solis are superb.
Nowadays it is very difficult for Metal groups to release something that catches my attention, with more than 40 years of listening to metal it is difficult to listen to something innovative or that remains faithful to its roots but with notable changes so as not to be repetitive, it happens to me with this group called Sorcerer, their first album seemed incredible to me because it had a lot of influence from Headless Cross and with the second I feel that they reached the ceiling at the composition level, it was a masterpiece of doom metal, but from there I feel that their third album and the few songs from their fourth album sound very generic, recycled riffs from what they have already shown on their first two albums, it is quite repetitive, it is very difficult in a genre like Doom Metal to be innovative, even Candlemass themselves find it difficult today. day to do something that sounds relevant, it's my personal opinion.

Great song. What I can't understand is why so many great bands seem to be obsessed with evil fantasy as an ongoing theme. Satan is a defeated enemy of mankind. He lost his power over humans when Jesus Christ defeated death on the third day. What I'm talking about isn't religion. It's reality. It's a personal choice that has eternal consequences. I hate preachy hypocrites as much as anybody does. I am a sinner like you. The only difference is I believe Jesus died so that I could have eternal life. Isn't that something worth considering? I love this band as much as anybody else does but they could be lifting up people and giving them hope instead of filling them full of lies about deaths power over them. The album sounds amazing I will be adding it to my collection for sure. So many great Swedish bands.
We like concepts around the fight between good and evil. We are not taking sides only trying to make a dramatic album as you would a horror movie or such. The lyrics are just one piece in the puzzle. Thanks for your support!
