We wrote this as a mouth-off between the Vikings and the Saxons where they talk shit about each other before the battle, basically. Biff wrote his own parts, and I think he did such a great job.
One of the best collaborations ever. The more amon does, the better they get. The fact that legendary Saxon did a collaboration with amon, shows the talent, skill, and respect of the band.

This song means even more to me because I come from Northumberland - next to the island of Lindisfarne - the place where the first Viking invasion occurred in the year 793. This song takes us back to the roots of our ancestors! Biff Byford of Saxon really makes this song extra special too - his performance is brilliant. I actually thought this song would be about the german roots of paganism at first Saxons are german, we still have 3 states called saxon(sachsen), and the "german tyr" is called saxlot(old german for sword brother) But the song focusing on anglo-saxons makes sense

What an absolutely incredible collaboration, I was a Saxon fan back in the early 80's this and this just popped up and was playing in the background, and started to feel it so I put some volume on it, and was so shocked to hear an unmistakable voice from the past, the blend is one of the best I've ever heard, this is my new favorite song, I'm just absolutely blown away and a bit of a loss for words, already making a list in my head of people I need to forward this vid to, thanks so much for posting , you completely turned a crappy day around for me , thank you.

I became a fan of Saxon with Strong Arm of the Law, a fan of Amon Amarth with The Avenger. Both of these bands have been a cornerstone of my love for metal in all its varied forms. This pairing is just such a natural fit and to see Johan and Biff on the same battlefield . . . My goodness. what a treat. Great song from an awesome album and a wonderful guest contribution from the boys in Saxon. Thank you to both bands for making my life so much more pleasant with such raw, heartfelt and true metal music. I got to see AA play the Camden Underworld in London a couple of years back, they were all crammed on this tiny 2ft high stage just a few feet in front of the crowd, poor Johan had to crouch for the whole set 'cos stage to ceiling is only just over 6ft! Poor guy's back must have been killing him by the end of the night! ha ha!! One of the most amazing nights I'll never forget. Saxon was the second metal band I got into after Iron Maiden way back in 1985 as a spotty 13 year old kid, Biff and the band earned their chops playing with Motorhead, not surprising BIff is still going strong at his age.
