Frontman Johan Hegg says of this track; Obviously, we had to ask Saxon to be on a song called “Saxons and Vikings,” so we’ve got Biff Byford singing on this with me, and then Paul [Quinn] and Doug [Scarratt] doing the solo for the song. You could say it’s the end part of The Great Heathen Army because this is where the English finally face off against the Viking army, and eventually a truce is signed where they pretty much split England in two. We wrote this as a mouth-off between the Vikings and the Saxons where they talk shit about each other before the battle, basically. Biff wrote his own parts, and I think he did such a great job.

One of the best collaborations ever. The more amon does, the better they get. The fact that legendary Saxon did a collaboration with amon, shows the talent, skill, and respect of the band.
Best song of all time for people that love METAL! New and old perfectly blended, what a masterpiece! I think i listened to it about 40 times now and that number will continue to grow! 🤘🤩🤘

This song means even more to me because I come from Northumberland - next to the island of Lindisfarne - the place where the first Viking invasion occurred in the year 793.
This song takes us back to the roots of our ancestors!
Biff Byford of Saxon really makes this song extra special too - his performance is brilliant. Really looking forward to Saxon's new album next year! Metal Legends formed in the 70s and still going strong!

Saxons are german, we still have 3 states called saxon(sachsen), and the "german tyr" is called saxlot(old german for sword brother)
But the song focusing on anglo-saxons makes sense

Man this is some awesome shit. Haven't played a track on repeat that often since 'Death in Fire'. This one is extra special since it works so perfectly together with Saxon, lyrics, solos and all.

I became a fan of Saxon with Strong Arm of the Law, a fan of Amon Amarth with The Avenger. Both of these bands have been a cornerstone of my love for metal in all its varied forms. This pairing is just such a natural fit and to see Johan and Biff on the same battlefield . . . My goodness. what a treat. Great song from an awesome album and a wonderful guest contribution from the boys in Saxon. Thank you to both bands for making my life so much more pleasant with such raw, heartfelt and true metal music.
