- This video explains in great detail, how to build and frame out a fireplace. It covers how to calculate the dimensions for your new fireplace and allows you to use it as a template to adapt it to your own space. This video will give you the ability to predict how much wood you will need for your project and also shows a three-dimensional model so you can visualize what you will be building.

Thank you so much I was looking for this level of detail. The only thing I need now is the recess area for the tv! Thanks so much again
Glad it was helpful!! Good luck💪🏻💪🏻
I love how detailed you are. Thank you. Serious question, can u do mock model for my measurements? Paid of course.
Absolutely. Send me an email to service@heights-handyman.com
Thank you for sharing a good video
I'm happy I could help!
@@noahs9069 I want to contact you
What are the advantages of having a recessed mounted tv vs mounting to the studs you have colored green or blocking between those studs?
Its only depends on aesthetics. A recessed space for a tv looks great but if you plan on changing tv sizes then it might not work well
I put a small niche behind the tv to hide wires
Man, if you believe in God, then GOD BLESS you for helping people achieve and save lots of money! I asked someone to do this for me, and they asked $3000 for it! You made it simple!
Two thumbs up for that!
This was very helpful!! thank you.
QUESTION - do you have any suggestions for further support for a 60" tv over top of the fire place? or should it be good if I just put it on the studs already in place there? Thanks!
You can definitely mount it to the studs but what is better is adding horizontal blocking in between the studs all the way across
I would use a 2x12 for the blocking so you have plenty of space to determine where you want to put your TV mount after you build it
Hope that helps!
Can you share the SketchUp file used for this project?
Yes I can do that! It's not the best for editing but you can have the measurements and stuff
What's the best way to frame and get your measurements if the top of your fireplace is sloped in and is smaller than the bottom?
I'm a little confused on what you mean
I want to do this but there is a vent on my ceiling 8 inches from the wall ceiling. Would it be possible to create this at only an 8inch depth? Or is that too close to the wall?
Definitely can do it. The minimum space I would recommend would be 4". Double check the depth of your fireplace insert before and make sure it can fit entirely inside
I agree^ could definitely fit it or extend the duct work
What program do you use? Is it reasonably priced and easy to use?
It is google sketchup. You can get a month free and it is relatively easy to use
Nice! What brand paint and primer do you recommend for built media wall
Kilz is a good primer. I typically use behr if buying at home depot
I would love to know how this can be done in a room with vaulted ceilings
I can make a 3D design if you give me measurements
What program are you using for the 2d model?
The 2D was just microsoft word
If you decide to do a wood mantel, at what height would you install it?
I normally do that at 62” top of mantel. But some fireplaces require a certain amount of space in between fireplace and bottom of mantel
I would recommend deciding what size tv and where your tv placement will be if you plan on having one on the fireplace.
I'd do a mantle rough 14-18" above the fireplace or 6-10" below the TV
What is de naam of application pls ?
It looks like Sketchup.
I hate to tell yu bud but your fireplace chimney is suposed 2 be bricks, ur gunna burn ur house down bud
I hate to tell you buddy but it's not 1910 anymore. Chimneys vent with metal ducting and electric fireplaces don't need venting
@@Cottonwoodconstruction well the metal ducting still gets hot there bud
Well they make insulated vent pipes there, keyboard ninja knowitall disgrees with everything pants
@@illbetherejk3212 hmmm idk about all that your gunna have to make a video to explain...
