- It's a polymer clay mushroom jar tutorial!
This week I'll show you how I used polymer clay to transform a small, glass, discount-store vial into a secret hiding spot inside a mushroom sculpture. This sculpture is based on the real inky cap mushroom, which turns into dripping black glue as it matures. My colour scheme was inspired by Tim Burton's infamous character Beetlejuice - so we're calling this one the Beetlejuice-Inspired-Inky-Cap-Mushroom-Secret-Jar!

I'm Jane Sawyer and I'm a fake artist on the internet. I love to build and make art big and small with whatever junk I can find. I'm not a "Real Artist". I hope to educate and entertain you with some impressive art and goofy humour as I try different, affordable, and accessible materials and methods to build cool stuff and make fun art.
I'm Canadian, this is how we spell "colour" and "humour" in the land of maple syrup.

My friend Fun-Gus told me about your channel. There was a shroom event in my city as well. So much fun. 🍄
I would use them as a geocache container. What could be better than finding a mushroom in the wild with a surprise inside? Plus, I like this idea better than painting rocks. Cool little fungus!
That fungus dripping black ink-like substances is so cool. Enjoying learning new techniques and ideas from you. ❤
how awesome! your beetle-fungus-geuse is incredible. i am soooooo glad you randomly showed up in my instagram feed. makes me want to get out my polymer clay supplies and play.
I'm so glad I showed up on your insta feed too! 😜🤣
Fungus crafts are so big now because of the game and series "The Last of Is". Combining fungus and Beetlejuice was brilliant!
I love how you have made 2 very poisonous fungus. They are so cute, and The Beetlejuice idea was perfect for that mushroom!
I love incorporating mushrooms and all types of fungus into my projects. This Beetlejuice mushroom guy is so cool, Jane! My favorite part is the hidden compartment. As always, thanks so much for sharing your skills!
I love this so much! My kiddo and I are really into mushrooms and fungus. I made them a crocheted mushroom bag, they make little hot glue mushrooms all the time and they even went as a Mushroom warrior for Halloween one year. (We diy'd the whole costume!)
Love that you have a RUclips channel! Lots of inspiration and thanks for sharing your process of how you made your cool Fun Gus.
I’m glad that you’re putting the fungus out amoung us!😂😂 keeps these shrooms coming!!💜💜💜
I'm usually not into fungus, but this little guy is cute. Love your content.
Awesome! Thanks!
Love this Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Fungus Guy. I love how you caught yourself from saying it the third time in the video. You put so much work in to this vial! It’s fantastic! Thanks for sharing your talents with us 😃
Its always so nice to find fungus among us! What a fun idea! ❤
Absolutely adore fungus. It was so popular in the 70s and now it’s making rounds again
There's a Fungus Amung Us! That has been one of my favorite jokes since my son was little, he loved it for such a long time. Inky caps are also my favorite, but I really do like their plain colors, it's calming in a world where things can be so busy. I also love to add a little bit of a purple tint to them when I paint them, thought it's my favorite color so I may be a little biased. 😅 I do have to say that your poo like description for winding the foil around the cap was awesome. 😂
I love fungus-inspired art. Makes me so happy! So glad I found your channel!
This is so cool. I love that it’s functional as a jar and there’s just not alot of fungus based functional art in the world.
what a cute little guy. I have painted lots of rocks to hide but never a fungus! Glad to find your videos. I go to RUclips... for everything.
Glad you found me too! ☺️
Another amazing fun-gus. 🍄We love Beetlejuice. My kids gave me Beetlejuice socks for Christmas last year. I wish I was near enough to find one of your creations.
I love the spooky mushy!
I absolutely love the idea of using the heads of sewing pins for eyeballs. I think making big fungus would be the perfect transformation for my Oui yogurt jars
🤞🏽🤞🏽Sweet! I loved watching all your videos while I craft.
My fungus loving daughter would be screaming with excitement to get this!!!❤️ thanks for the fun video and share!
I hadn’t seen the inky fungus until recently, but they’re so cool, and I love love love your Beetlejuice take on it! He’s a really Fun-guy! Bwah ha ha! Sorry - I had to! ❤
Great fungus! They all look like they could be fun-guys lol x
I save jars and booze bottles for projects like this 😍 fungi-spired!
Putting the fun in fungus with fun-guy fungi! 🍄

I love Game of Shrooms! I wasn’t able to fully participate this year but next year the fungus fun is back on!!! Would love to own one of your awesome works!! 🍄
I am sure Beatlejuice would appreciate being turned into a fungus 🤣 maybe try more disgusting types as well, he would strive for excellence
Ooooh such sweet fungus among us!!!
I’ve been saving empty beauty serum bottles, they’d be perfect to re-purpose! I think you’ve inspired me to make my own fungus 😊
This came out so good. On my bucket list of things to make!!!
I love the idea, giving away fungus art! I love all your work! I've enjoyed watching. I'm a huge Beetlejuice fan too ❤ this is fabulous! My fingers nose and toes are crossed!
What a fun and creative fungus project! I appreciate the tutorials these will be great to try out with my son!
I ❤ game of shrooms! Must be where I found you on IG! You’ve inspired me to try my hand at the pile of polymer clay this weekend. Thanks for the fungus inspo🫶
Get into that pile, friend! Love it
I would love to make this awesome fungus. Thank you for sharing your tutorial. ❤
Hey, my random number generated that you will be the person I send this to! Sound good? Reply to this comment if you're still interested!
Whoa. What a use of fungus. 🥳
He looks like a fun-guy you should call him fun-Gus 😆
These are really fun!
I love watching your videos and I think you are a creative genius.
I went in search of fungus during Game of Shrooms and found a great mixed media piece. I did reach out to the artist, and also met someone who was a minute or two too late to get the piece I found. Fortunately she found a piece at the next place she searched.
I plan to participate next year, so it is especially great to see this for inspiration. ❤❤
Love that! I wish Game of Shrooms was more popular in my area!
Me encantan tus creaciones!!!!❤ Ojalá estuviera más cerca para poder tener una, sigue así espero tu próximo video!!!!😽
Thank you!!!
So cute!
I love your content. Mushrooms rule
Maybe they didn't know your Beetlejuice fungus opens
Just seen ur TikTok I know I’m probably to late but came to show some support 😊
You're not too late - but you gotta watch the video and comment to be entered!
Using a hot glue gun to make long drips that you then glue to the mushroom cap would be super cute as well. (You'd also be able to get long drips like you see in the reference picture and you wouldn't have to worry about them breaking off easily. Trying to make those long drips using polymer clay would be way to fragile.) I love anything with a creepy vibe and I love (nearly) all things Tim Burton so I really enjoyed this make. Thanks for the inspiration!🖤☠🖤
Thanks so much! Hot glue drops would be cool - but I wouldn't have been able to bake the cap again after applying them... cuz melting. But for sure I could have gotten closer to the reference pic with hot glue. 👍
I would love to find a fungus like this in the wild
Good luck in growing your channel like a fungus. Watching from Southern Ontario!
Hello from cottage country!!!
No idea when your giveaway is, but would be tempred to make a GIANT fungus out if a sonotube & paper mache !
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your fungus art!! ❤❤❤
I eat mushrooms almost every single day and not just because they're healing but because I love thay there are many different varieties. A cool fact about fungi that some might not know. "Mushrooms produce vitamin D when exposed to ultraviolet light, but they don’t need light to grow. Interestingly, mushrooms for human consumption are grown indoors in a sterile environment to prevent contamination."
And a joke (pun)
Did you hear the joke about fungus?
You may not like it at first, but it will definitely grow on you. 😅 😂
Thanks for the chance to win the super cutie and I foundyou on Instagram but came to subscribe here because of this giveaway! 🍄🦋🍄🦋🍄
😂there are fungus amoung us!
I also hid some fungus art in PTBO and no one contacted me but they took the art! And that's ok😢 . I love your content!
There’s a fungus amungus!
Colour and Humour are the correct spelling. 😊 Was it hard to pick only one fungus to build? There are so many options! ❤
How did you get started with sculpting fungus and is that the only thing you sculpt. Have you seen the person on Instagram that does the life size fungus sculptures for your yard and garden. The Beetlejuice one would be awesome in a life size for Halloween. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL WORK MY DAUGHTER WOULD LOVE IT!!!
I make lots of weird things. Started when I was a kid! 🙂
Yer my favorite fake artist!
Best compliment ever!!!
If you have fungus among us, what color would it be?
Fungus is such a weird word.
With all that fungus, it looks like you don’t have mush-room for anything else?!?! (See what I did there? 😂😂😂)
