- Hey everyone, Welcome back.
This is going to be a few part series, this is day 1 of building a flemish bond extension. I enjoyed doing flemish bond... its a bit slow going though, you feel like you're getting nowhere fast.
We didn't flemish bond the plinth because the customers wanted it to match the existing extension as much as possible.
Hope you enjoy the video, if you have any comments please pop them in below. Don't forget to subscribe if you want to see more.

good to see bond set out from new corners back to building, any discrepency can be adjusted with broken bond against the building.
Awesome work, looks mint with that white cement 👍👍👌
Great Job! very neat .
Nice work!
Brilliant content as always
I Like the way you're cutting them bats! Very Efficient
Them jigs are alright but quicker , faster and cleaner with a drop saw, please wear a mask.Bwk looks great but 4 and 1 mix with white cement is a very strong mix and it looked like two lots of 100mm DPC not one 225mm as it should be. 👍
Ay up Andy👍👍
225mm.
No chance a strong mix 4-1 Whig white cement buddy. White is generally weaker than the ordinary grey stuff
@@lmilne4859 White cement is stronger 👍

Not for me buddy. Every time through the years in Scotland always white render that had been blowing out 90% when people used white sand cement. Any time cleaned of bricks also peels off no problems same as when dye is added to cement comes easily.
When mixing compo it should be done by volume for consistency not by the shovel.
Lovely job
Nice to see corners being built properly and not using profiles, by the time you've set profiles up the corner is half way up. In my experience profiles are for bricklayers who can't build proper corners.
Yer old time!👍 I thought I was the only one left.😂
Or corners are for people who can’t set up profiles properly
@@p.maesthetics7154 profiles are for 'line monkeys'. Real bricklayers don't need a line.
@@bonanzatime we go to work to make money, if you want to test your skills build an arch, what’s the point of building a corner just to feel satisfaction of being an old school Bricky, it takes about a minute to pop two clamps into the perp and plumb up the profile
@@p.maesthetics7154 Most profiles I had to work with were all twisted and bent. I don't like the damn things. I'm fast with the level and my eye and can leads fast enough for anybody running in the line.
Yeah mate!
Nice!
Plinth should half plinth bricks to match the bond IMO. Nice looking bricks btw
Brilliant
A lot of head joints😝
A slither or a split? Nice work not adding water to wet sand
Quality
Excelente trabajo 👏 👍 🧱🧱🧱💯💯💯👌👌👌
cap and a half? 5ml its a squeeze bottle with measures on the side?
Where Did Your Mara get that jig from never new sthil made them before and price please if you dont mind asking him love
We need more content, then you will get more too!
Can you explain what Feb is and why you use it?
Makes the muck easier to work with, have seen some brickies use washing up liquid if they didn’t have feb. Sure somebody will say that’s wrong but only stating have seen people use it 🤣
Is 300mm wide DPC illegal where you live or were you just too lazy to get some?
Never done Flemish bond , kids nowadays
You’re very pretty, and capable
Dpc should be 215 not two 100mm s. Why is the plinth not in flemish?. I no you aren't the person making those choices but wondering why
Answer in the overview lad
I thought that with the plinth bricks too, but then saw that they were matching what was done on the original house, it would bug the hell out of me though.
we worked with the materials we had. we have a can do attitude, glass half full if you will.
@@rattlekings Nothing wrong with what you did, you were just matching the existing, it was the original builders of the house that should of known better.
How much is $$/hour?
first mix was too wet as you put way too much feb in it
i didn’t put the first mix in… that was filming me put the second mix in. another bricky put the first mix in.
@@rattlekings no worries work looks great
Get a nash book, then you can bond it properly
Brick below grade is never a good idea, will definitely rot out
