Been a mason over 45 years and have worked with a few lady masons. Every ONE of them were excellent. As far as taping the brick down,when the mud is tight you'll have that. Keeping the corners of your mortar boards wet will keep your mud from tightening up so fast depending on the temperature,wind and if it's a "buff" mortar. Still,nice work!

spot on well done, not many sites allow working on crates, had site managers go around and skip any found on site .
What about the fold up young man stools chucks them as well ? Used for exactly the same purpose if so I’m done

That brickwork is very neat. You can see the difference in a wall when two people are running the line properly. Great work plumbing the perps and never stop doing it, people ask me why I'm doing it but the wall speaks for itself. For higher courses would it worth your while setting up some trestles?
Spot on , it only takes seconds to plumb the perps and the end result speaks for itself.
@@jims5394 I worked with a very good bricklayer, very money motivated but he would act like it was taking half an hour to do or that it was only something inexperienced people do, it was ridiculous. You either care about your work or you don't

It's the only way if you want nice perps all 10mm. After a few course I use a small setsquare which is even quicker than plumbing them. Leave an excellent job. Cheers.
@@jims5394 we do 25 course first lift so I do them at 8/16/24 but I'm spot on with my perps unless I lay walking backwards then I start at 4th course and do them every four
I use to pick the brick up to lay with my thumb in center you can line it up with perp below

I'm a plumber/heating engineer for 20 years and I'm still wondering why there aren't more female trades women 🤔. Worked on a renovation few years ago and the bathrooms were tiled by a girl and her workmanship was first class.
It's because the majority of women are not willing to do hard physical labour. Not really that mind boggling.

That's no job for a woman, she'll be fkcude up by the time she's in her 30 s
women work bloody hard so while some may not like manual labour (some men don’t either) personally I think the fact that these trades are so male dominated is what puts us off. Worried about sexism, harassment and being treated differently or paid less.

Laying to a line is like brick stacking, bricklayers years ago we’re properly trained and longer apprenticeship, probably why houses are thrown up, blame the training system .

I just saw a video with you laying 8 inch blocks in Australia. North America does not allow 4 inch block as back up for brickwork because it has no structural abilities. Anyways the experience working in other countries will get you a job anywhere in the world. Well done!

I do usually squeeze, just it was such a dry day, the muck was going off instantly so as soon as i ran the bed out it had gone off. Nightmare. So i had to do some tapping today 😄 x

Its called a dinger. They are really nice, great finish, but i only use them for face work as they wear down easily 🙂

darcy you have to get your own muck? Here in Nyc we have the laborers mix our muck and get us everything we ask for. We just need to lay the brick. Let me know if it’s different in the uk.

could do with trying to stop tapping with your trowel push harder with your fingers will speed you up
See how long your Dinger lasts , mine lasted no time and seen a few guys who've thrown them away , £26- what a con.
The barrel is by far the best jointer and the best value for money as I usually get over 2 yrs with them , even the MT only lasts a few weeks before scoring.
I emailed the cheeky bastards about them and they sent me a re surfacing guide. Fuckin pricks. Luke you say for the price i was expecting them to last for months not 2 weeks
years ago when buckets where metal we use to use the old bucket handle for pointing when bent it looked like your Dinger

@@rattlekings Also you do very precise clean work.☺ But don't hurt yourself using that big trowel😉. Try switching to a smaller one when reaching up high (like shoulder/chest high and up). Will take pressure off your arm and wrist.
Did they show you how to see if the mortar is just right with a slit in in and the trowel pushing up from the bottom . Great you really hold you own . How many dirty jokes do you know Start writing them down you`ll forget some ha

Used to get a bollocking off of the tutor and if caught twice in a day ya stopped a bit later to sweep everybody's crap up
top ones tip due to over reaching and a skin of 100 mm work shouldn't be taken up over 1125mm in a day.
