I wouldn't rank any of the Arkham games in the top spot. Arkham Asylum gets tedious with its endless string of Titan fights. Arkham City's map layout is awful, as is its very premise. Arkham Origins is by all accounts basically just Arkham City again. And Arkham Knight fixed every single problem with its predecessors, only to stick in that blasted Batmobile that almost makes one pine for Gotham City Racer. So sure, the Arkham games are probably the best 3D Batman games (depending on your affinity for Lego and Telltale games), as they build on the strengths of earlier titles such as Batman Begins while refining the gameplay. Batman 1989 Should be 2nd on the list. Especially considering the limitations in technology in the time, the development team did an amazing job of capturing the batman feel and difficulty. Arkham Asylum is definitely #1 But Arkham Knight should have taken the spot of #3 IMO, with Batman 1989 at #2 and Arkham City at #4
Wow, the title of the Video: Ranking every Batman Game from worst to best. The Video: a few random Batman games ranked, not including about 70% of the Batman games
They’re missing 3 games. If they were able to do the double for adventures of Batman & Robin. Im pretty sure they could have done it for these too. •Batman the Video Game (Sega Genesis) •Batman Returns (SNES) •Batman Forever: Arcade (PS1 & Saturn)
It's a good list. It's just a shame to see that the strongest versions of Batman 1989 were dramatically overlooked. I'm talking about the great Spectrum and C64 versions. Yes I'm so old that I played them when they came out.
Arkham Origins higher than Arkham Knight WTF!?!? Origins was a stop gap to make money till knight came out. Was a sub par studio that were given the whole game engine and did nothing with it. A new story, add snow to map, that's pretty much it. At least Knight innovated in many ways.
It’s nitpicking, but this is hardly every Batman game. In the earlier generations, most Batman adaptations would be completely different for each system. Batman (1989) on NES and SEGA Genesis were both platformers, but with totally different art, levels, and controls. Batman returns was a Double Dragon style beat em up on NES and SNES, but a racer on SEGA CD. SEGA CD also had a Batman racer based on TAS with animation between levels, often referred to as the Lost Episode. Batman Begins also showed up on Game Boy Advance, as a platformer to better fit the system. There’s far more than just these examples, but you get the idea.
Can we talk about how good Troy Baker and Roger Craig Smith were as Joker and Batman in Origins? They were both perfect and, in my opinion, just as good as Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy
I think Troy Baker and Roger Craig Smith did awesome in that game, they represented young versions of the characters very well with their voices. Personally I think it would have been bad to have Mark and Kevin do that since their voices are for the older versions of Batman and Joker
When i play Asylum sometimes i feel like jason todd is in a corner or in the shadows watching batman o something truly creepy (that's why i love that game, it has that feeling you know)
Definitely agreed with this list. My favorites have always been the Arkham series (Origins included) and then Batman Vengeance. That was the first Batman game I played when I was younger and then grabbed hold of the Arkham series as soon as Asylum was released.
Not even vaguely close to “every Batman game”. And you didn’t even just miss obscure ones. You left MULTIPLE of the list that you literally make reference to in other entries.
I bought Arkham Asylum but didn’t even get to take the plastic off before getting a red ring on my 360. I almost cried for real when I got a replacement 360 and got to the part of the game where the screen freezes intentionally.
Batman Arkham City and Batam Arkham Asylum are both 2nd and 1st and no one can deny that because they are both excellent games cause we get to roam Gotham AKA Arkham City and the Arkham Asylum island which are both chief's kiss to exploring and beating up the bad guys and going toe-to-toe with Killer Croc
I think arkham knight deserves to be on top of the list because every mechanic in it was improved and music was great. I think there was a great balance between batmobile and martial art gameplay.
Every other game and it's sequel is listed separately so why isn't batman telltale the enemy within listed as its own game? Its better than the 1st game and should be high on this list
I love the Arkham series, but can someone please tell me the name of that beautiful instrumental playing in the background of this video?! I must have it
I can't believe I just let my Arkham games eating dusts on my shelf for years. I started with the Batman telltale games and it was awesome. Currently playing Arkham Asylum and I'm also loving it though I can't deny I enjoy more the recent Spiderman games. I hope there will be another Arkham games on PS5. I still need to play Arkham City and Knight though.
Glad someone agrees Arkham: Origins had the strongest story. It has it's issues (Lady Shiva's battle is a massive disservice to the character), as well as some weird bugs (Killer Croc tends inexplicably to go invisible when I fight him. And I doubt that's a Mortal Kombat reference), but it is probably my favorite of the bunch when it comes to mood and story. Asylum is a classic, but going back to it with the muscle-memory of the later titles tends to throw me off. Also I really hate the Harley Design. And the Croc design. And the Bane design. Knight I played fairly late, but enjoyed immensely aside from the batmobile (and especially they linked the batmobile to what used to be the detective mode button in previous titles. Urgh). I also did not care for the more 'realistic' graphics. I prefer more stylized graphics in general (I had the same issue with Dragon Age Origins). I also thought this portrayal of the Riddler was one of the stronger ones. Didn't care for the Nightwing design, though. City... Is a classic, but the story didn't really hold up as well. Awesome take on the Mad Hatter and Mr. Freeze. I enjoyed playing as catwoman (combat style kicked a lot of ass), but this has to be one of my least favorite Catwoman designs (I know it's popular in the comics, don't like it there either). High heels, ridiculous cleavage, and what the hell was up with her face? Serious uncanny valley stuff.

Arkham Asylum is definitely #1 But Arkham Knight should have taken the spot of #3 IMO, with Batman 1989 at #2 and Arkham City at #4
Fond memories of playing Batman 1989 on Mega Drive with my sister when i was little.
Wow, the title of the Video: Ranking every Batman Game from worst to best. The Video: a few random Batman games ranked, not including about 70% of the Batman games
Lmao I just bought the game “Batman: Return to Arkham” for $6 on Xbox’s Spring Sales. :)
They’re missing 3 games.
If they were able to do the double for adventures of Batman & Robin. Im pretty sure they could have done it for these too.
•Batman the Video Game (Sega Genesis)
•Batman Returns (SNES)
•Batman Forever: Arcade (PS1 & Saturn)
Sega genesis version of batman and robin is fantastic, I've never heard anyone say it's bad... why?
Number 1
batman arkham city..
agreed
Okay so this has nothing to do with batman games but...is anyone else vibing with the background music?
It's a good list. It's just a shame to see that the strongest versions of Batman 1989 were dramatically overlooked. I'm talking about the great Spectrum and C64 versions.
Yes I'm so old that I played them when they came out.
Arkham Origins higher than Arkham Knight WTF!?!? Origins was a stop gap to make money till knight came out. Was a sub par studio that were given the whole game engine and did nothing with it. A new story, add snow to map, that's pretty much it. At least Knight innovated in many ways.
Great list - super happy you put Asylum as number 1 - but this isn't EVERY Batman game. You're missing Batman on the TurboDuo.
Batman Arkham origins is severely underrated
The only thing "Batman: Return Of The Joker" does better than "Batman (1989)" is the soundtrack. It is amazing even to this day.
Batman Revenge was my first Batman game
When i play Asylum sometimes i feel like jason todd is in a corner or in the shadows watching batman o something truly creepy (that's why i love that game, it has that feeling you know)
Respect for putting asylum at the top my fav game
Definitely agreed with this list. My favorites have always been the Arkham series (Origins included) and then Batman Vengeance. That was the first Batman game I played when I was younger and then grabbed hold of the Arkham series as soon as Asylum was released.
Batman arkham asylum hits different
The Atmosphere is for sure awesome in its own right, probably why it hits different
Everyone might say arkham city is the best but imo... asylum is better than city.
Not even vaguely close to “every Batman game”. And you didn’t even just miss obscure ones. You left MULTIPLE of the list that you literally make reference to in other entries.
I remember asking for about 3 years for Batman Forever when i was young. I finallt bought it when I was in my 20's and was very disappointed.
BATMAN VENGEANCE!!!!!!!!!!!1 and The Adventures of Batman and Robin for SNES and Batman Begins are nostalgia overloadss!!!!!!!!1
I bought Arkham Asylum but didn’t even get to take the plastic off before getting a red ring on my 360. I almost cried for real when I got a replacement 360 and got to the part of the game where the screen freezes intentionally.
Worst: Batman Forever (SNES) Best: Batman & Robin (SNES)
Batman Arkham City and Batam Arkham Asylum are both 2nd and 1st and no one can deny that because they are both excellent games cause we get to roam Gotham AKA Arkham City and the Arkham Asylum island which are both chief's kiss to exploring and beating up the bad guys and going toe-to-toe with Killer Croc
You can't put Batman The Telltale Series and Batman The Enemy Within into one slot and call it one game. Its not. Its 2 games.
My favorite batman games is Arkham Origins, Arkham Asylum, and rise of sin zu🔥🔥🔥
I must have it
I'm so glad that you put Arkham Knight below Origins, that game was disappointing on so many levels
You're picking Asylum over City? Yes! You absolute heroes!
1992 super NES batman returns was awesome
1. Arkham Origins
2. Arkham Asylum
3. Arkham City
4. Arkham Knight
don't attack me in the replies (I know this is very controversial)
I can't believe I just let my Arkham games eating dusts on my shelf for years. I started with the Batman telltale games and it was awesome. Currently playing Arkham Asylum and I'm also loving it though I can't deny I enjoy more the recent Spiderman games. I hope there will be another Arkham games on PS5. I still need to play Arkham City and Knight though.
7:55 - "Sega Master Force..."
Sorry what?
Chaos in Gotham had absolutely bitchin' music I remember booting it up as a kid just to put my Gameboy speaker to my ear and listen to it.
WC's commitment to being aggressively wrong about Arkham Origins is admirable. You don't see that kind of tenacity often.
‘Cough’ Triple Jump ‘Cough’
I guess this was only for home releases as the 1990 arcade game and the 2013 driving game (which is a lot of fun) weren't featured.
Batman Arkham origins is a gem ❤️❤️💎💎 the fight sequences were great and we all knew which batman game would be on top
For me, 3rd place is a toss up between Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight. 2nd place Arkham Asylum, 1st place Arkham City.
Putting Arkham Knight under some barely known, old-ass, shitty, pixelated, sidescroller should be a criminal act. Also Knight>Origins.
Next you should rank all the Superman games... Only correct answer is 64 being last.
