  • The EV6 goes through the deep freeze in Quebec Canada, with temperatures as low as -29℃ (-20℉). Considering the wind chill factor, it was as cold as -41℃(-42℉). Take a look at how the car handled itself.

    It's -34 C now, here in the north of Sweden, and the car's coolant has frozen, or turned into a slush. It makes strange noises when I start it. I think I'll leave it parked today. Down to -25, there are no problems and I have driven a lot in that temperature this winter without any issues. The range more than halves but if you plan for it, it's no problem. I've noticed that the range jumps up as soon as you pass 0 C. Over the Christmas holiday, we drove a total of 2800 km, of which 400 were above zero, and you could immediately see the range increase. I've had my EV6 since March 2023 and have driven about 25000 km since then. I have chosen to put studded (spikes?) winter tires on it, and that probably reduces the range a bit more than with non-studded.

    great video. what temperature do you usually keep indoors? for my tastes 21-22 C is just ok

      The temperature was set to 22°C all the time. The interior sensor on the digital screen shows a higher temperature at times simply because I had to put the airflow to the windshield only to stop it from fogging.

    I see that you have changed the front and back KIA emblems for black ones with white contour. Could you link where you got those ? I should be receiving mine in a few weeks and this is something I would like to change. Thank you !

      Actually the emblems are the originals. I just put black wrapping film and cut around the sloped edge of the letters.

    What was your cars range at purchase like the factory range. And what was your range estimate on the car in those cold temps

    • @ev-time
      @ev-time  9 месяцев назад

      The official range is 443km but it is not measured in winter conditions. In the summer it can get up to 513km (actually driven). In the worst conditions (-29°C) I did 238 km (actually driven).

      @@ev-time so roughly 50 percent reduction. The only reason I ask is I’m looking to purchase the ev9 but the standard range is 270km so trying to estimate the winter range. Make me alittle nervous

      @JoeyVaracalli I would go one step further. If you plan on keeping the car you should also consider worst case scenario of battery degradation. Warranty covers you up to 8 yrs / 160k km with 30% degradation. If your car has 29% degradation in year 8, technically you’re not covered and you would have lost 29% range too. So you might want to consider what would be the range in these conditions and does it still suit most of your needs.

      @@ev-time yeah idk I keep going back to a Tesla honestly I really love the size and comfort of ev9 but the price is steep for a car with 270 mile range

    Hello. How was your tange without precondition. Is the car you are driving Rwd or Awd. I work at a hospital that 90km away, so that is 180km total. Considering the lost in range in winter, will I be okay with a standard range Ev6.

    • @ev-time
      @ev-time  10 месяцев назад +1

      My car is the AWD with the 77.4KWh battery. Considering the standard RWD is 58KWh and that it does not have a heat pump (meaning the heating is less efficient) you should have about 220km of range in extreme cold weather (by my calculations). As you start driving the car, the battery warms up so the range will be a little better.

    Finally someone with not a clickbait title! I saw "Extreme Winter" and I thought it's going to be yet another Gen.Z imbecile calling a +4C an extreme winter lol. However, I was really surprised to see your testing done at -24C! And it's done by a mature knowledgeable person. I really appreciate that.
