At 1:19 Summon hit the curb? Seriously? After 4 years in beta, and 8 cameras, AI and Neural Nets. It Still cannot handle super simple driving in an empty parking Lot ?
If another driver parks to close to your driver side door and you cannot get into the car on that side, then this feature could back the car out for you so that you can get into your car. Same for garages if the driver side is to closed to the wall. The older models had sensors to this feature, but in the new 2024 models those sensors are gone. I don't see this feature available in my Model 3 Highland. (2024)
It's videos like this that make me not even want to try Summon. I watched another video where summon failed all but the first try. I do get up the courage to try Summon, I'm definitely going with an empty parking lot like this. May be embarrassing but much safer. Hopefully this gets worked out in 12.5.
So disappointing. I think the Summon feature just never got reworked to use the neural net AI like FSD and it shows. I truly hope they can make this "Banish" mode happen. I would love to let it go find it's own parking spot, but that will take a a huge amount of work.
I'm not excited anymore about summon. I feel like kids or other people are going to be hit in a parkinh lot, and insurance is gonna skyrocket, and people are gonna go to jail for allowing their cars to do these things.
I feel sorry for you 😢. But I thank you for sacrificing it to make this video to show us. From the videos I have seen FSD works excellent. I’m getting mine on August 🎉
Let me know what your experience is once you get the car. I know early on they can be exciting. After that phase wears off i think you'll start yelling at the car like I do daily.
Tesla recently added a new update to cars that keeps them asleep while your viewing them in the app. The propose is to save battery and not wake the car up because you opened up the app. The issue now is when you try to summon it will no longer connect to the car. I've tried this many times with no luck anymore
It's a vision based system that does not rely on parking lots being mapped. And this lot is mapped. Summon drives over everything lines curbs anything to get to you.
It's pretty terrible. When I first got the car, I thought it was a cool party trick because I got it to pull into my garage two times. But when I was showing a friend, it drove right across my lawn for no reason, and that was over a year ago.
Non-Tesla driver here. Why is this a feature if it’s undercooked? I get the whole Tesla mantra of beta testing / guinea pigs in the hopes of continual OTA software improvements. However, this seems pretty sketch.
I understand that Summon was Tesla's initial project, which eventually led to the idea of Full Self-Driving (FSD). However, it hasn't been actively developed since and is now included as an add-on feature to the FSD package. A little over a year ago, when I purchased my first Model Y, I tested out Smart Summon on the golf course, and the car ended up driving from the parking lot onto the course. I plan on trying to recreate that with permission from a course in my local area.
@@hugohom2280 FSD does not work pretty well. There are Interventions on any challenging drive. It has been demoted to 100 percent Supervised driving. That is not what people paid for.
I'm not sure why summon struggles, but FSD works flawlessly 98% of the time. I don't understand the disconnect between the two features. Hope Tesla can address it.
@@FSDdriverthey changed fsd from lines of code to fully vision based, but I would be willing to bet they did not change smart summon at that time. now that fsd is so much better, I think they’ll redo summon

It’s a pretty rough go
I really like your honest review. Help me a lot
Glad it was helpful!
Crazy how they have full self driving, but can't get this to work
I think it needs to have other things than just vision IMO
Absoulutely fantastic video. Great effort, what drone did you use to capture the birds eye view? Looks very stable and professional!
I used a DJI Air 2s. I’ve owned it for a long time but never really use it much. Figured I could mix in some footage with some testing.

The one thing I dislike about tesla is they went to vision only system. Just let me use my sensors my car has
What version of FSD?
12.3.6

I don't wanna be that guy hitting parked cars
I don't even have the option to summon. got fsd on my 2024 model y.
Really? No summon you should post a pic of that. Is it enabled in the car?
I have the same problem and can’t find it 2023 myp performance?
@@FSDdriver Im guessing they removed the option till they fix the many issues. I do have fsd 12.5.1
@@MrFrmartinoh maybe they’re going to use the newer ai model for it. one could hope
@@MsOmgnowai2 one could hope. my friend who has an early model 3 has it. but my 2024 MY does not. Hopefully they figure it out
I use summon everyday with no issue in busy Costco parking lots....
Make videos of it
Can you show me

The paint looks great.
I'm thinking of buying white wheels next time.
It said stopped due to unexpected error. I wonder what would be causing that.
No idea

My guess is that it struggles becuase the roads are mapped out and in the system while most parking lots are probably not

How long ago did Elon said you could summon your car from a different state? This didn’t look good….I thought it was better

Elmo has very little credibility. He says many things that are simply false.
@@FSDdriverhave you tried new updates? I see it doing impressive stuff on RUclips.
I hope people aren’t editing those videos
@miseseconomics I’m stuck on version 12.3.6 Elon and Tesla hate me for showing people the truth.
