I was not involved, but I now understand what you all were trying to do with the challenge. I hope your new home is treating you well. I watch the videos Joe. I may not respond at times because some of the topics do not apply to me, but it is interesting to see what is going on.

Ive learned a lot about my hair from the past 4 months (started the challenge late). It was my first time ever growing my hair so I had to experiment a lot but now I know what styles I can and can’t pull off.
I use a hair straightener all the time and ive been growing my hair out since September. As long as you keep up on hair oil and heat protecting products your hair will be fine. My barber always says how healthy my hair is every time I got for an end trim
Joe, how about for your next challenge you let all your hair grow out for 3-6 months instead of just the top. That's a real growing out experience. You could show how to work with it in the awkward stages. You have great hair BTW, and a great site.

I did around 9 months till a barber cut my hair around a month ago saying "Now your hair isn't too long or short.", I thought he was talking about the sides, because most of the schools where I live have this policy for no undercuts, I then realize he removed a couple inches from the top on the way back home, but not only that, because I then realized that my fringe isn't even entirely the same length. Like the left side of my fringe is shorter than the right!! The problem is that I style my hair left to right.... (Like Joe).
Edit: I specifically told the barber not to remove from the top.
My barber does the same thing. Might as well go for a haircut and let the barber decide what to do.

I just started my 1-year hair growth challenge on January 12th and this month will be the third month and all i can say is that my hair has been growing out fast and i have more variety of hair options to choose from with longer hair compared to shorter hair. I'm glad i joined the challenge but started late and a longer duration
1 month waking up at 5 am Joe! I strongly belive that this challenge will change a lot of people and it should improve our productivity. What do you think?

@@mikhailvtornikov3029 if you get enough sleep it's really good, but you can't go to bed at 1 am and wake up 4 hours later. Next time you reply please read again what you write and try to decide if your comment will help someone or not, because your reply is just an excuse for not waking up early. Nobody will force you to try this, so don't try to be against it. Some people might actually want to try it

I used to use a hair straightener 5 times a week for a few months and my hair never once felt damaged. So I'd say as long as you use some sort of heat protectant your hair should be fine.
I went platinum for a little over a month this winter. I really liked it! It contrasted well with my tanner Indian complexion. You should give it a shot!
How about making challenges every six months? Like we can don a 6 month body transformation or a 6 months beard growth one. I wanna know what the blumaan community thinks of this since having a large group participating can be somewhat of a motivation.

I find that I get the same swooping effect as the straightener when I do the swooping motion with the brush and use the blow dryer to guide the hair from the front and to the side

I joined late. I've been taking Biotin every day since the start of February to grow it out for summer becuase I want to bleach it and colour it some fun summer colours.
This challenge really changed my life for good.
Go for a whole year!!!

Brazilian blowout or keratin treatment will give you straight hair for 2 months and is better than using hair straighter everyday. Because it’s less damaging if it’s done properly by a professional.

i did participate in the challenge through entire time but i didnt upload any photos or anything. currently my hair is just at the bottom of my lips and i am doing the swoop (nothing really else works) still going to grow my hair for like 4 months straight atleast. wanted to grow out my hair for the past year yet i didnt have the encouragement but i finally did it.

No more challenges! I dropped out in February. At Christmas my mom said "Do you want ME to cut your hair?" And I have to admit it was looking weird, so no surprise that a few weeks later I had my stylist (not my mom!) cut it. I committed to no haircuts, period ... that meant no trimming or shaping or anything that cut off any hair anywhere. So I am kinda proud of how long I was able to hold out. But that's behind me now. The color challenge is a big no for me. I just want to look good, not trying to push too many boundaries.
I will continue for a long. Cause I wanna have a bun !
