Lyrics:
Up here in space
I'm looking down on you.
My lasers trace
Everything you do.
You think you've private lives
Think nothing of the kind.
There is no true escape
I'm watching all the time.
I'm made of metal
My circuits gleam.
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean.
I'm elected electric spy
I protected electric eye.
Always in focus
You can't feel my stare.
I zoom into you
You don't know I'm there.
I take a pride in probing all your secret moves
My tearless retina takes pictures that can prove.
I'm made of metal
My circuits gleam.
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean.
I'm elected electric spy
I protected electric eye.
Electric eye, in the sky
Feel my stare, always there
's nothing you can do about it.
Develop and expose
I feed upon your every thought
And so my power grows.
I'm made of metal
My circuits gleam.
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean.
I'm elected electric spy
I protected electric eye.
I'm elected electric spy
I'm elected
Protected. Detective. Electric eye.
Glenn Tipton is seriously one of the most underrated guitarists to ever walk the earth.
Agreed. Same with KK.
😂😂😂
Greatest guitar duo ever. They don't get enough credit.
It's so impressive how he so seamlessly transfers from a lead back to rhthym.
Glenn that is.
This song is the living, breathing definition of HEAVY METAL!
well said brother!
You mean Rock with less girls?
YES
Ernesto Catalan obviously Rob,fits the ideal heavy mental lead vocalist, can’t tell him apart, from Ozzie,or Bruce, especially in the hair/clothes,department,I guess people at Judas Priest concerts couldn’t figure it out.Rob’s meaning.

My fellow 80's brother and sisters...we lived during the greatest music scene there will EVER be...i saw almost every heavy metal, hair band live in their prime...
What a glorious time to be a teenager!!!!
Im 55 now...
What I would do to go back to 1981-89.
And here I am, not being able to witness these bands in their prime. But I do have my tickets to see JP for my first time at 23 this Saturday

Sabbath, Priest, Maiden & Motörhead…the BIG 4 of British Heavy Metal Music 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
How prophetic this song was
fucking yes, I was just thinking this as I watched. These lyrics are so ahead of their time and right now reflect the shitshow we're in right now, 40 years ahead of time!
It's China's reality for sure.
@@GB-gf3dm The UK now has cameras and sensors that monitor car emissions. If your car is old and emits too much C02 they sent you a ticket in the mail. A tax for driving an older car. There's also cameras EVERYWHERE in London. You can point at China all you want but the Brits have the surveillance state in full swing.
Absolutely. 45 years ago. Unreal.
Not sure if it’s true but saw that the NFL is going to use facial recognition technology to ID every single person in the stadium.
Why would they do that, I wonder??
Hell with them.
Arguably the best intro in the history of rock.
Dam straight
I seen this opening 27 times
No arguing for me, it IS the best intro in ALL of heavy metal!
Ozzy Osbourne's Diary of a Madman tour is still my favorite. But this is damn good.
The Ides Of March
I saw this tour in '82! My ears are still ringing a bit... What an amazing show!

The most homoerotic performance ever. We knew it, we felt it and we didn't care. It's about talent, and this was the best in our metal world.
metal prick debault that shows why metal fans are the best. We care about character. Not identity.
Dave Turner He didn’t come out of the closet until 1998.
Dave Turner nobody knew. How could they care?🤷🏼♂️
Uh, no, everyone still knew he was gay even back in the early 80s. I heard that ever since I was a kid. And even if Halford didn't officially "come out" back then, he didn't exactly hide it either. Just sayin'.
I've been a fan since 1980 and I knew he was gay when I was 10 for Christ's sake. Same with Mercury - you could just tell...and I couldn't care less then or now.
This is the Golden Age of Heavy Metal.
Metallica and their descendants made the right choice to take metal in a different direction. Nobody will ever be able to do this better than Judas Priest.
I’d probably put Maiden right up there with Priest.
Yeah this age of metal was the golden age for sure. Metallica knew that a new sound be created for this is perfection.
@@GaryRinaldi agree, but they are totally different. Priest is rock taken to its most undiluted and heaviest. Maiden has a lot more melody and progressive power, but not the rawness of priest. They are like the two arms that were able to lift metal so high. Motörhead may have been the loins?
@@talleman1 Metallica is an Anvil rip-off,they didn't create a sound, their sound goes back to Unleashed in The East by JP,listen to Genocide and you'll understand

When I saw\heard this for the first time - my "music fan" part of me turned upside down - cause you cannot be somebody called metal-fan and bassicaly do not even know this band. Still the greatest version. Was there to see it and the energy is unmatched by any band.
Man, U got that right, Bryan! Absolutely the most spectacular metal show ever! Tipton and Downing were awesome!
PRIEST RULES!
Muse isn't too shabby either. they know how to put on a good show.
+MetalMessiah1219 That's true
When you have the amazing duo of KK and Tipton doing it like no other. Then that voice of Halford the main instrument in the band. You get a band that stands out and above the others. Its no wonder that JP is still selling new records to this day. The metal pioneers that impressed many other bands that followed. Will never be another band like this one. Once in a lifetime group right there.
I don't think they ever succumbed to drugs; which allowed them much success and longevity. Crap... They've been rocking for more than 40 years.
Agreed
Pretty drunk
The album was a landmark, the tour a legend. This was Heavy Metal.
We didn't how good we had it back then. We knew it was good, but we didn't know how good!
That moment at :48 where Glenn stands in front of Marshall Stacks and get perfect feedback before going full on metal assault. That is possibly the best moment of any video on RUclips
I was 13 in 1982 and discovering metal. It was a magical time. Every cassette yes cassette lol I bought was a discovery, Ozzy, dio,Crue,Wasp,Maiden ect ect. But I still remember going to record bar and picking up Screaming for Vengence. When I listened for first time I had found my band. Priest was untouchable. I've seen so many concerts( some was a letdown live) but Priest is so powerful the kings of metal.
Rodney Brimer I was 16. Yes, it was an amazing time period. It was fun for me and my friend to decide between Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. She liked Maiden more and I liked Priest more. We both had a crush on Glenn Tipton. We didn't even know his name at the time. We both loved guys with long hair and wished they would stop cutting their hair!!! The style now with guys growing bushy beards and shaving their heads is just such a turnoff. Sorry, guys.
Right on man, right there with you. I turned 17 that year and got into Maiden and Priest around the same time. Good memories.
I was 13 as well. We're all old now. WHAT A GREAT DECADE FOR METAL AND LIFE IN GENERAL
I was 12 when I got this cassette through my monthly Columbia House Record Club, Screaming For Vengeance was my introduction to Heavy Metal talk about luck Rob Halford has been my favorite singer to this day. Long live Heavy Metal.
I was 10 in 1982 but I had the advantage of a 14 year old brother who introduced me to all the hard rock and metal bands he was discovering- all the ones you listed, plus Scorpions, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, AC/DC, etc. I remember buying those fabric tapestries from the record store and hanging them on my ceiling, and I was so proud of my Screaming for Vengeance album cover tapestry. I also had an Iron Maiden Killers one, and an AC/DC one.
I was a little kid when this came out but I remember my brother used to blast this on the stereo- incredible. I wish I could go back in time and see this show.
I was 8 when I first saw this video, and I've been a huge Priest fan ever since.
A voice like a machine gun. Ripping through the speakers. Wow just breath taking.

Best band on earth period. This concert proves it.Ive heard/seen thousands of bands and Priest are the Gods OF METAL. Sabbath and Maiden shortly follow. Just my opinion.I respect all other opinions. Music is in the ear of the beholder. If someone says Slipknot is -I will shake their hand and say "right on!" We are all brothers in metal.
🙋
Black Sabbath paved the way for ALL of heavy metal that followed.
@@IBDAFFYibdaffy You are right but when Sabbath was playing it was defined as "Hard Rock". Priest redefined that style of music into a style they started calling "Heavy Metal".Both Sabbath and Priest deserve equal credit for bringing hard rock and heavy metal to the masses. I think they are both totally amazing bands. Sabbath Priest and Maiden have been my favorite bands now for nearly 50 years.
THE BEST INTRO EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is just \m/

Played this VCR tape a thousand times over back in the day!
Me too😊. 1998, bought in a bargain bin for 10 dollars.
Best ad for Marshall amps, EVER !!
Saw JP live a couple times back in the day. Absolutely one of the best live bands ever! RH is absolutely one of the coolest gay guys I know of!
Besides yourself....
The Priest were at a peak on the 1982 / 83 tour, thankful to have been there to see it live.
I'd give ten years of my life to listen that Glenn Tipton play that solo in that concert...dream of dreams!!!!!!!!
I was born in 2000 but I’d much rather listen to this than the crap that they play nowadays. My mom listened to Green Day billy idol and my das liked Motley Crue and acdc. They heard me listening to this and immediately said “sorry kid you were born in the wrong era. You should have been born 25 years ago back when this was mainstream”. 🤘🏻🤘🏻rock on
LOVE OLD PRIEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Despite my introversion, I always start my day with metal whether its this or Ozzy. It reduces my anxiety when I go out at night
My first Judas Priest song 💕
KK Downing song writing & guitar playing on this song was the pinnacle and turning point for JP. Without KK this entire album would have never come into fruition!
I don't think Judas Priest has anything left to prove as artists. They've shown that they can dominate practically any genre of metal. Rob and the gang are just having fun out there at this point.
My God is this Amazing.
Rest in pace grandpa
He loved this band so much
When i was 4 i spent with him most of my time listening to these masterpieces
I wish to inherit the judas love to my grandchildren
Here I am at 58 years old, and on this tour, at Cow Palace, San Francisco. The greatest concert I've ever seen and I've seen many during that decade.
I loved Priest so much I accidentally taped this concert off of MTV over a part of the free weekend of The Playboy Channel I had been saving for ages. Tough choices for a 14 year old in the 80s. 🤔🤣🤣🤘
On the 22nd of april 2016 i got my first tattoo - The Judas Priest tuning fork logo... Same day the release 17 new videos from one of their best live performances! What a coincidence!! Judas Priest are the best metal band ever.

I remember watching this whole concert vid. The editing is actually really good (focusing on Glenn for the solos, Dave for the drum fills, etc.), but Ian gets the least attention. Maybe that's how he likes it, though. His pumping pedal-tone parts are simple, solid, and very effective.
Agreed. Whoever did the camera direction deserves an award. I have seen so much concert footage ruined while they focus on the backs of peoples heads, or the drummers foot during a guitar solo.
Agreed 1000% ! Hill is the rock. Very talented bass player. Listen to their earlier stuff,he's right there with the guitars
Legend has it that the reason why K.K. Downing walks slowly down the stairs is that a couple nights prior as he was descending the steps he slipped and fell,so on this night the band was being filmed he made sure he would not fall again by walking down the steps really slowly
This track epitomises heavy metal, it's a stone cold classic, especially with the Hellion as the intro
best electric eye version
@slacksabbath maybe, but the best guitar solo live for this song is this one, he nailed it
i agree with both of your comments
This one is also amazing ruclips.net/video/nmji9imoCjI/видео.html

US FEST version is equally great cos of the behind the scenes style of it.....this version is totally cool beyond belief!!!!
Born in 1994, but wish I could’ve seen these guys in the 80s. Amazing performance as usual!!
2:46 always makes me high. The moment that really takes this solo to another level.
First Metal album I ever bought. Must've been ten years old ( thought the album cover looked really cool.) BLEW. MY. MIND!!!
🙋
This is the first Judas Priest song I ever listened to. I was around 8 years old back in the mid 80's when I saw this video played on MTV , and became a huge massive fan ever since. Even at 8 years old I knew there was something extremely special about Judas Priest compared to most bands . This live version is still the best version I have ever listened to. Rob Halford has said in some interviews that he was pretty much wasted on most tours he did before 1986 after he got clean, but I have never listened to a bad performance from him from those early tours ever.
MTV played this concert every Saturday night from 82- 85

One of the best of priest
Glenn has written the greatest collection of heavy metal guitar solos hands down
The Metalist song, by the most metal band at the most metal moment......
Well, It is official Judas Priest was just announced to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! The band has been together for over 50 years and have put out at least 18 albums and 6 live albums, they opened for Led Zepplin in the early 70's at The Day on the Green and along with Black Sabbath were the only 2 metal bands at Live Aid in the 80's. They have toured the world many times. I will never forget the first time I ever heard them was in high school and we were skipping class and someone said have you ever heard of these guys? They put in a tape of Sad Wings of Destiny and the song Victim of Changes played...and I was hooked, then I saw them live in concert for the first time a couple of years later on the British Steel tour. I have had all their albums and seen them many times. I'm so happy for them as they deserve it and everyone who has played in the band will be there including Les Binks. Congrats to Judas Priest!!!
Rock On!!!🎸
The solo is watching is watching a true artist at work ...brilliant
Gracias padre por hacerme escuchar de chico a judas priest.....sin palabras
Thank god this exists. Timeless/Flawless.
It's as if Preist was telling of things to come. Electric eyes are everywhere now and there's nothing you can do about it!
My fav one ever... The best JP song and album; the masterpiece "Screaming For Vengeance".
And i'm so old that this tune.
Priest at the height of their powers. Tight, solid, imaginative, metal as fuck, and firing on every cylinder that exists.
RIP Dave Holland. Sad farewell to the drummer of the greatest band that ever lived. Heaven has a juke box they play JUDAS PRIEST.
Seeing this concert on MTV in the early 80s turned me into a metal head and a huge Priest fan for life.
At 1:17, Rob Halford's prophetic lyrics of life today in this day and age. We are being watched all the time. Doesn't matter where you are...in the city, out in the woods (open field law), behind your computer, on your phone. The "Electric Eye." is watching you. "You think you've private lives, think nothing of the kind, there is no true escape, I'm watching all the time." ~ Rob Halford
What a time to have been alive. 🤘
Serious Metal. Nothing shitty. Still sounds great decades later.
One of the greatest openings in rock & metal history caught on video. A moment in time for all the ages.
Halford is simply the baddest frontman ever. The 5 octave range voice & incredible stage presence & charisma. He looks really shy😂😂😂. His confidence demands respect!
The most AWESOME voice and presence in heavy metal......is and always will be...Mr. Rob Halford.....!!
probably the greatest album opening tracks in metal… battery is up there as well but this is one hell of a way to start an album

I had this on VHS when I grew up. Used to run up and down the couch pretending it was those platforms they have on the side. Good times😅
i knew they were good but the guitar solo here is more tasty than i realized till now. Awesome!
Glenn is awesome, shame he’s stopped touring.
Time clarifies. In the early 80s this was probing the limits of speed. After many years of speed demons on the guitar playing scales, and pointless runs at lightning speed so very fast that it's just a blurr of NOISE......suddenly this seems just the right amount of speed without going over the top in a metal song solo. This solo shows the LIMIT on speed. Stupid quick but just restrained enough to allow the listener to hear every note.......and yeah, it works because it fits and it actually sounds like something to enhance the song rather than just a blur of speed for the sake of speed itself.
The Golden Era of Priest! And man, such good solos from one of my favorite all time guitar duos.
there are dozens and dozens of rock guitarists that can scream on the electric guitar , but that tall skinny guy that plays one of the treble guitars has got to be one of the best . he can play it super fast flawlessly . and this is my favorite song by priest , you got another thing coming is second , turbo lover is third
His name is Glenn Tipton and I would recommend you to listen the Painkiller album, his solos were even better on that album.
@@arvindshastry1178 okay thanks for the suggestion . i'll do it right now
for those of us that saw this show several times from the front row in the early 80's, we will never forget this legendary opening song!

Old school metal was something else. I wish I had lived during those times
First time I saw Judas Priests was at '83 US Festival, I was one of 375,000 heavy metal headbangers.
daniel wong cool. Great energy in that kind of concert. I'm sure people were ecstatic there. Obviously! I wish I could get Judas Priest.Firdt time I saw a video, I thought they were doing a parody. People rave about the singer, but not me. For me the 80s were about The Cure, Psychedelic Furs, P.i.L., New Order, U2, and the Cult. Amazing that those guys and metal existed on the same planet, really. But they did. I need to stop making fun of Judas Priest, if I can, but they're such an easy target, esp for me not being a metalhead in the least. I know some people really get a jolt from them. Electric Eye, just a satellite, they'd been around since Sputnik. Although the Germans may have sent something up there first. Priest weren't looking into the future. If you want that, listen to 2000 Man by the Stones, where they almost predict the internet, 20+ years before the fact. Every time I look at Halford I see Mr Magoo stumbling around the stage, and I gotta hand it to him for not falling flat on his face. That outfit he wears probably has a lot of sharp hooks and needles in it, so I hope he survives. Then I scan the comments which are almost all the same: He's so Bad-Assssss! They're the Gods of Metal! Gimme a break. "I'm made of Mettul! But he's no poet!" Ok, that's it! No more poking fun at Rob Halford! I honestly wonder what John Lydon thinks of Priest. He probably likes them just fine. Maybe I will, too, someday.
I can’t believe you lived to tell the tale.
No seriously, I can’t believe you survived that cluster. 😂💪🤘
Saw this tour... Hellion/Electric Eye was the perfect opener... song lyrics are prophetic...
I saw Priest on this tour in ‘82 at the capital center in Largo Md, blew the power out on diamonds & rust! Best concert I ever went to, and I’ve been to a bunch!

The Godfather’s of metal. Timeless in every way.
This music helped drive me to heights of intensity in my 20’s that without it I never could have achieved success in all of my physical battles (except 2 times with groups of cops that had to beat me to a pulp to de-motivate me, LOL)…so lucky this took me to any level I needed to go!
