Nice idea, but horrible execution. This is a compact that essentially weighs as much as a mid-size, and actually gets WORSE MPG than the Camry. The easiest solution would be to re-skin the new Corolla with a 2 or 3 door body, firm up the suspension, slap a tC badge on it, and you would have a much better car. It would be hundreds of pounds lighter, handle that much better as a result, and give you decent MPG at the same time.

Sick of toyota/scion using so much cheap plastic in their cars.. My friend has this and it's filled with hard plastic!
What car doesn't have plastic in the interior?
they all have plastic... but they use cheap HARD plastic that scratches easily - other cars use soft touch materials which look and feel better.
I have a 2014 tC and any scuffs or scratches seem to wipe away with a damp cloth.
So does every single car under $30,000... They all blow material-wise, complaining about interiors for this price segment is super nitpicky. I have a friend with the new Challenger and another with the Camaro and both have pretty "meh" interiors and they are more expensive than the tC..
Ian's Tech who cares man, u get what u get. I love the design and I don’t complain about it.
It would be hundreds of pounds lighter, handle that much better as a result, and give you decent MPG at the same time.
but only 130 hp :p
Ehh still no LSD or more HP blah..
I had a gen 1 tC and it's fit and was superior than this new gen 2 tC ... pity ...
I have a gen 2 now and the only thing that makes it better than the gen1 is the mechanical improvements.
Makes me think they were already thinking about retiring the Scion brand ...
What a shame .
Nice lid Ben!
My tc gets 19.3 mpg.
Okie TC adjust your shift points, mine gets 32 highway 24 city
There's even room in the back for adult sized seating *bangs head
TheMilkMan that guy did look pretty tall though. I'd bet most people under 6 feet would be fine. I sat in the back seat and it is surprisingly spacious.
very good. are to bad toyota killing it off
Love my rs10 tc.
I stopped watching at frugal frivolity
Scion is a North American marque of Toyota.
The FR-S would have been my choice if it didn't have the head gasket-eating flat junky engine from Subaru.
It's been pretty much the same since launch, still a POS even when supercharged.
I love mine, Im guessing you never owned one?
buildmorefarms100 I've driven them, nothing too special. I purchased a Mazdaspeed 3 instead, ever drive one of those?
Steve Lee No, I have never driven aMS3... I used to own a 2011 EVO GSR though, ever drive one of those? My 2014 tC is a nice all arounder: very comfy supportive seats, 30+ avg mpg, sporty, 300 watt HD stereo, glass dual roof, handles awesome on wet, dry, and eve snow, best resale and reliability all for less than 20k. A bargain.
Why yes I have, and the TC is still a POS.
No actually it was rated the most reliable car brand in 2013...but haters gonna hate. And it is tC not TC.
This car is for all those wanna be street racers lol
My GLI destroyed one of these on the freeway;)
+BeadyEye44 Yeah that would be my only complaint about having the release series all the attention from people who want to pull along side and race! It's not a speedster by no means it has a nice top end on it but the acceleration is so/so I don't race it I am just happy that it looks like its 3x as fast as what it is LOL but yeah if it was rear wheel drive and about double the horsepower then I would more than likely be off in a ditch somewhere.
1st gen is better
+Robbie Zeigler yes it is. it looks more nicer better quality
noah Noah correction, not gen1, gen2/2.5 is by far the best tC models.
no better than a chevy cobalt. both get recalled.
You mad bro?
I'd take a Toyota over a Chevy any day...
ORIGIN4LFluffy Yes thats a no brainer!
buildmorefarms100
It's garbage bro
John Heymann You've obviously never owned one. They are: fun, inexpensive, reliable, great resale, and even good in snow (unlike your 'stang)
Most people prefer this car with an automatic transmission? WTF??
so basically its a pontiac g5 gt
brad cool Either that or a 2-door corolla.
brad cool Lol Don’t ever conpare between a beautiful sharp tC2.5 and Pontiac G5.
The previous models were better looking, this is just plain ugly.
god, this thing is ugly.... kill it!
You mad bro?
The most pointless car I've ever seen...
like you, pointless haha jk
what I have one and I love it first car
Agreed.
+1CBRDUDE Lol this is from 2.5 yes ago but ok. The point you're trying to make is mute. If you can afford a 2014 you can afford a better car. And even if you only want reliability there are better cars in its class.
1CBRDUDE A 2v mustang isn't expensive dude...and it's pretty reliable as long as you use the right fluids and good fuel. Gas isn't too terrible, gets 19 on average and 24 on the interstate.
Stupid name for a car.
david dykeman wtf u mean a stupid name? That makes no sense. Scion tC is an awesome name. If u don’t know about it than shut it.
Disgustingly gross interior.
Haters gonna hate...
buildmorefarms100 You must work for Toyota cause you replying to each other. Hopefully they're paying you good.
I love my tC! Don't be mad bro!
Yes i agree the interior looks horrible ever since they introduce it back in 2011. The car looks nice but the interior is a dissapoinment. Even the new Corolla looks better inside than this.
Honda Civic's interior update was so bad in 2012 they had to change it the very next year....Scion isnt alone with the use of cheaper plastics inside.
I hate scions. This car sucks.
Yet here you are
