I had the same problem with the door rattling. And easy temporary fix is to just pop the panel up a little bit and roll a small piece of tape in between the panel and the rest of the door.
I actually shoved a piece of paper folded up into the door by the switches. This helped a lot, but over time it slides out of place. I have heard of adding a little bit of foam around the switches and door goes a long way. Definitely will be a future video!
The tC, Camry and rav4 all have the 2ARFE engine. Now, if you have some build knowledge, you can combine a 2ARFXE with some parts of your engine, a cam and a Haltech ecu to get 260BHP. Of course you’ll have to run premium going forward. Sound deadening was left out of all the Scion line-up. My 1st Gen Scion xB build is getting it and cloth tape for plastic rattles/rubbing. 👍
Recently added sound deadening to the car. Helps a whole lot! As for the motor stuff. Its just terrible that we dont have any factory options like the 1st gens

I have a 2015 Scion tC with 203,000 miles. Thing is amazing. Just put the trd exhaust on today! Just ordered some xxr’s too! Excited! Thing runs like a dream! Sounds decent too
The TRD exhaust is nice. It definitely wakens up the car from the OEM one. However, i do believe there is better sounding axle backs out there. Maybe consider a Megan mid Pipe to waken up the TRD exhaust?
I get 29 mpg and I don't drive slow. I just bought a 2015 6 speed for commuting. I don't need to drive my truck most of the time amd be putting a ton of miles.
Held on to my black 2014 tc, and I’m starting to fall in love with it again. She has been loyal to me since day 1. Drives great, and still looks cleaner then a lot of newer cars I see on the road
When they got rid of scion they should've named the TC the new corolla. Toyota products are great but the corolla looks so boring. If they used the TC styling they could give the civic good competition.
People were so unbelievably rude to me, when I bought mine. Much love for Scions, great little cars, reliable, not fast, but great little commuter cars.

Test drove a 370z first couldnt make a deal ended up getting a tc. The 370z is just a better car overall. Tc is just a commuter though and paid more than half for it so I am happy.
Need advice anyone please??? I can't decide between a 2012 Scion Tc auto, 120k miles or a 2012 Honda Civic LX w Manual Transmission, 88k miles. I like the idea of a Honda with lower mileage even though it's slow and not sporty look. The Tc is faster as far as hp goes and looks better than the Civic LX but the 2 doors might make car insurance higher. I just want a fun daily, driver car and yes, I considered a Civic Si but they're out of my budget and most are high mileage or heavily modded. Let me know your thoughts??? Thx
The words we want to hear at the end is Toyota Celica. The tC is really a spiritual successor to the Celica if you look at it. Most engines in the Rav4 are in the Celicas and the same with the tC.
I've always felt like this was a missed opportunity for the tuner community. The car looks fantastic in its final model. And it's got a 2.5L 4cyl in it. It's naturally aspirated to ~180hp which is right behind the FRS of that same year. I owned a 2014 back when they were new and never understood why there wasn't a push for tuning these phenomenal looking cars.
The tC is very aggressive looking. One of the main reason I got the tC is because I simply did not want a Honda Civic. Where I live, and I am sure in other places this is the same, Honda Civics are very common and well having a tC added diversity to my area. I can count the number of tCs in my local area, as for Civics, not so much.
You talking about the platform: I am under the impresion the Avalon V6 (2GR-FE) in the Scion engine bay. By the time you buy all the parts that support a turbo and the turbo in itself you might as well swap in more displacement. It's about 100 pounds heavier, i doubt that would be too extreme if a weight difference, not sure if the transmission would handle it, but I suspect it would. Then swap alone is about a 100hp difference, us whatever else you do to it from there.
I’m about to go test drive a 2015 tc here in Hawaii due to my previous work hooptie crapping out. It’s got 114k miles. So naturally I did some digging and have seen mostly great reviews. I’ve seen a few people question oil consumption, some say mpg not the greatest, cheap ish interior etc. But man I been pushing a 02’ Camry and she burns some oil, fuel efficiency is around the same or worse and interior is well out dated. The 2015 tc is gonna be a big work vehicle upgrade for me as long as maintenance history and carfax looks good.
Regarding gas mileage, I believe being a manual transmission could be one of the reasons? If those other cars you mentioned are Auto Trans, it will explain why they do better on gas. Just saying.
Posted my 12 Corolla for sale tonight in hopes to drive home a TC in the next few weeks. I love the Corolla platform and how smooth it rides and handles but I’m looking for more power and a manual out of it. So TC is my option!
I dont know if the TC us the best option for power and performance. Its a nice car and all but performance wise it is lacking. I love my car but i wish it had more.
@@ThoseAutoGuys definitely accurate, but for me that’s plenty enough to put a smile on my face. I had a 2010 Koup SX I think it had around 178HP and I absolutely loved it.
2014 Tc here. I get about 19-23 tops combined in gas. Granted I get traffic sometimes in my commute. Also, what rear stabilizer bars do you have in the rear?
I'm looking to buy a 2015 Scion tC. 99k miles. Manual. Selling for $9.5k and mind you it is 2022 so the car market is crazy high. They said they could do $8k the catch as to why it's cheap is it has a rebuilt title. From flooding. Is it a good deal? I love the looks of this car.
@@ThoseAutoGuys Yeah I worked at the airport commute was about 30min back and forth. I was surprised when I checked. City driving now I'm at 22.6 after mods
I same here with xb 2016. My body who is a transmission mechanic told me that xb and tc transmissions are geared differently than the Camry and Rav4 for higher torque.
Great video 👍 the one thing I’ve experienced different on my 2015 tC is my gas mileage is in the 28-33 range. It’s a 6MT and I think what really sets the mileage back is 1st-3rd above 4K rpm. Our gen tCs only have 14 gallon tanks and hard launching for fun all the time means more trips to the pump :(. But overall, love your setup and the vids :)
Theres times where im granny shifting under 3k and still didnt make more than 25mpg range. Obviously the gauge isnt 100% accurate. Comparing the tC to the WRX i. Terms of gas mileage... the WRX gets 30+ MPG. A built 400+HP car gets bette gas mileage even when launching it from light to light.
ThoseAutoGuys True. A built Wrx 2.0T is definitely more efficient than the 2.5NA in the tC. Also, I’m mostly on the highway when driving so sitting in 6th gear for a while definitely helps my mileage.
I have had my 2015 TC for almost a year now it has the 6 speed manual and it's always read 28.9-28.4 mpg with mixed city and highway driving (also driving fast and or stuck in traffic 60% of the time). Iv calculated it out at the pumps a few times to see how accurate it is and everytime it was accurate to the T. I thought 28.9 was bad gas mileage because my 2011 civic gets 34mpg usually but it's a smaller displacement engine so it makes sense plus I think what gives the 2015 tc not so great gas mileage is the gearing atleast with the 6speed manual. 6th gear at 80mph is at 3100 rpm.... the car could have really used an over drive. I get why they gave it the gearing that they did though it keeps the engine in its power band most of the time
I also think that the quality of the gas may have something to do with people getting different mileage numbers. Not every state let alone every city or town or even gas station period has the same quality gas as one another. I live in California so for whatever thats worth 🤷♂️. I personally think the gas here in California atleast where I live is not very good gas and alot of the times it has water contamination but I'm starting to think we might not have that bad of gas after all.. 😅
23 mpg is actually great!! That’s what I get on the 1st Gen tc and XB. A Veloster only gets 27 on its 1.6 and 23 on the Turbo - Your buddies Subaru I can guarantee is only on the Hwy. combined is also 23 24 mpg. This is great mileage for a 180 hp engine.
my tc i bought from a previous owner must have heard you on the trim level, because the upholstery on mine when i bought it had leather, and i gotta say man... after owning leather seats in a tC for over 3-4 years, id rather take the cloth over the leather seats. they're an extreme pain in the a** to deal with cleaning wise
1. With my 2-12s kicker subwoofers I just set the bass level to -1 and there is no rattle bro! A+ with subs you have to install some 🙌🔥 2. Not much storage with subs lol 3. Our 2.5L is a legit monster when built right like you did 4. Body lines on the second gen are amazing and 2.5 is clean as well 5. The 2.5 rear downgraded from 2nd gen 6. The exterior is easily the best bang for buck 7. Excellent highway MPG (25+) but bad City 8. Interior is built like LEGO’S (fixable and upgradable) they didn’t change from 2-2.5 9. Aftermarket was 2014-2018 for the lifetime but only some popular parts available smh 10. No turbo oem parts offered but only small amounts of bolt ons and tunes as of today 11. Barely any of my rare parts are available and never will be so I had to get them before they vanished namely the cf parts and spec d tails 12. Toyota has a lot of potential 100% 🙏🙏 We need a tC3 with at least a V6 bro Overall I have a love/hate relationship with my car, but at the end of the day, love it. We mainly love our tC2 if taken care of it! I’m glad to have guys like us in the community and gc for sure!
I would like to have some subs put into the area behind the tail lights. Nothing but just the perfect size. A great question is V6 or a Turbo 4 that can make some extra power with bigger turbo or a tune?
Thinking about getting one, I have a 1st gen tc. The only thing I'm concerned is oil consumption overtime. I know it's newer but the engine these both use are similar, and my car use to burn oil like crazy until they had a recall.
It doesn't seem like the 2nd generation has the same issues. The first generation for sure had oil consumption issues, it was well documented. But haven't seen the same reaction for the 2nd generation which is the same engine as the Camry and Rav4 from those year. First Gen Engine: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_AZ_engine Second Gen Engine: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_AR_engine
1UZ burns oil ans eats itself: huge issue major recall 1st gen tc. worked at toyota during the roll out of the 2gen new camry engine ( tc 2.0) ive had it since 2014, its 2023 runs like a champ with 53000 km oil change every 3 months 0w20 is kinda thin. i wanna run this for another 10 years and still spank other cars, bone stock.
I will say this. The comments from this video definitely have a high mpg. But, i have talked to a lot of owners. There mileage is around mine. Are you auto or manual?
Very interesting. The spread for mileage is very wide. I know the RAv4 with our motor gets that mileage with eco mode turned on. As soon as you turn it off the mileage drops drastically. If you turn on sport mode then its even worse than my car.
The shift knob in the car is from ACarGuysGarage . All custom made and I have a few more pieces on order from him. 1 man show but all the quality is that of a big time company.
How's the back seat space because that's the biggest thing for me. I'm considering a 9th gen Honda Civic Si sedan for the interior and good performance but the Scion TC is in strong 2nd running. This will be my daily and I have a 3 year old daughter. Thoughts anyone???
We put the entire body kit on the tC. Front, sides and rear spats. The $1000 is the entire kit and is actually cheaper than buying the pieces individually. This wasnt an option when i purchase mine. Definitely worth it now
I don't know if anything else experiences this but the biggest thing I hate about my 2015 rs 9.0 is that the hatch button sometimes doesn't work. If my car is started, it will not open. And when it's off, once in a while the hatch doesn't work. Anyone else have this problem or know what's going on?
I havent had this issue. But you can still get OEM parts from Toyota. You may want to test to see if its the button on its way out. Could also be a short somewhere in the line. Cheapest option is the button, or so I’d think it would be.
Mine is matte wrapped and ceramic coated ..idk if ceramic coating is worth it...maybe its good for a short time but only had the ceramic maybe a year with proper care idk but it's not helpful ...maybe the matte just gets dirty really fast lol idk but it's a hassle
I have the tC ceramic coated. As much as it is a coating you do need to follow up with it. I know Adams polishes has a Ceramic booster to keep it acting fresh. As ceramics adapt I am going to assume they will fix the longevity issue.
I’m not sure but I heard the Scion tC spend more gas because it’s weight is more heavy than corollas!! the sheet metal are thicker on those tC since it’s heavier the engine struggles more to move which cause more waste of gas but maybe people are wrong with this opinion,,,,
Sorry bud, the car doesn't get terrible mileage, the driver does. I can achieve 36mpg on the highway all day. Sometimes 33. I have a 2014 tC with just an exhaust.
The FRS/BRZ/GT86 platform has more of a following and therefore gets more modifications. I got the tC because it was to be my daily and RWD in the North East isnt the best option.
That being said go for the basics. Intake Exhaust Coils/air ride/ lowering springs Wheels Front strut bar I will be making a video at the end of the season for all the mods done to the tC.
I hear ya dude. I own a 2011 Tc and I would like for toyota to bring the Tc back.
Recently I traded cars with Kevin and he has my wrx and I took the tc. It’s a great car overall and should be brought back

Manual transmission, I idleTF outta it and I beat it at least once/month.

10. No turbo oem parts offered but only small amounts of bolt ons and tunes as of today
11. Barely any of my rare parts are available and never will be so I had to get them before they vanished namely the cf parts and spec d tails
12. Toyota has a lot of potential 100% 🙏🙏
We need a tC3 with at least a V6 bro
Overall I have a love/hate relationship with my car, but at the end of the day, love it.
ThoseAutoGuys hmmm bigger turbo always makes more power but V6 turbocharged would be a safer choice for this type of car prob
Thinking about getting one, I have a 1st gen tc. The only thing I'm concerned is oil consumption overtime. I know it's newer but the engine these both use are similar, and my car use to burn oil like crazy until they had a recall.
I actually heard about the oil burning a lot. So far so good. 6 years and +60k no burning.
It doesn't seem like the 2nd generation has the same issues. The first generation for sure had oil consumption issues, it was well documented. But haven't seen the same reaction for the 2nd generation which is the same engine as the Camry and Rav4 from those year.
First Gen Engine: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_AZ_engine
Second Gen Engine: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_AR_engine
I have talked to some people with 2nd gens. The oil burning issue is a hit or miss.
Yooo what’s the rainguard you’re running?
I get 29.8 mpg, with 172k miles. I don’t know how your mpg is so bad. I’ve had this car 10 years and still love it
I will say this. The comments from this video definitely have a high mpg. But, i have talked to a lot of owners. There mileage is around mine. Are you auto or manual?
@@ThoseAutoGuys manual
Very interesting. The spread for mileage is very wide. I know the RAv4 with our motor gets that mileage with eco mode turned on. As soon as you turn it off the mileage drops drastically. If you turn on sport mode then its even worse than my car.
Mom had 2007 maroon Scion TC smoked headlights and really cool wheels
I will be doing some smoke head/tail lights in the future. So much chrome!
Awesome video, I own a blizzard pearl 2015 Tc, absolutely love it, but I gotta know where you got that shift knob from, it’s so dope
The shift knob in the car is from ACarGuysGarage . All custom made and I have a few more pieces on order from him. 1 man show but all the quality is that of a big time company.
Looking to get a Cold Air Intake for my 08 scion but I was wondering if you need to tune the car when you get the cold air intake
What are the lips/skirts on the sides of your back bumper? I would love a link.
They are from NIA Auto Designs! I will link all mods in the description
Can you leave the link to where to find these parts?
Most of them are gone at this point.
How's the back seat space because that's the biggest thing for me. I'm considering a 9th gen Honda Civic Si sedan for the interior and good performance but the Scion TC is in strong 2nd running. This will be my daily and I have a 3 year old daughter. Thoughts anyone???
Spacious interior. 👍🏼
Where did you get the Rear window visor from? I may consider purchasing a 2015 Scion TC in the near future, after my insurance rate drops lower.
The roof spoiler is from SpoilerKing
The louvers was from Zakustech
Which NIA body kit did you buy? I see one around $1000 and one around $500. I’m interested
We put the entire body kit on the tC. Front, sides and rear spats. The $1000 is the entire kit and is actually cheaper than buying the pieces individually. This wasnt an option when i purchase mine. Definitely worth it now
Bruh, my Tacoma gets 10-13 mpg. Com'n now. My Wife's tC gets the same, maybe like 26-28.
I would love to hear your car purr with a turbo
It would be a cool thing to do. But reliability is number 1 responsibility for this car.
@@ThoseAutoGuys turbo tc possible?
I don't know if anything else experiences this but the biggest thing I hate about my 2015 rs 9.0 is that the hatch button sometimes doesn't work. If my car is started, it will not open. And when it's off, once in a while the hatch doesn't work. Anyone else have this problem or know what's going on?
I havent had this issue. But you can still get OEM parts from Toyota. You may want to test to see if its the button on its way out. Could also be a short somewhere in the line. Cheapest option is the button, or so I’d think it would be.
You think 23.7 average is bad gas mileage?
for a 180hp 4 cylinder? Damn right
Where could I find a spoiler like that one
This is a factory spoiler. I believe its the high profile one.
I’m not sure but I heard the Scion tC spend more gas because it’s weight is more heavy than corollas!! the sheet metal are thicker on those tC since it’s heavier the engine struggles more to move which cause more waste of gas but maybe people are wrong with this opinion,,,,
The tC has a larger engine than the Corolla. The tC has the Camry 4 cylinder.
@@alfredsolorzano6410 yeah you’re right!!
What exhaust are you running?
I refuse to give up on my 14tc…. I love it
Those doors from iq?
"Terrible gas mileage" Wait until he drives my 2005 4Runner...
It was in comparison to the WRX. It makes 10+ more mpg
@@ThoseAutoGuys I know, but once you drive an SUV you'll reminisce about the good MPG you used to get lol.
@@ThoseAutoGuysOnline I read that WRX’s don’t get 10+ more mpg’s. Unless you mean that the Tc gets 10+ more than that 4runner
I've own my TC2 for 10yrs now and gas mileage 28.5 can't complain about that🤷♂️
Kevin is just upset cause he has a need to hear his exhaust which causes him to go to the gas station more

@@ThoseAutoGuys 😂😂😂😂
where can buy this spoiler???
Trunk spoiler is OEM.
Roof spoiler is SpoilerKing
@@ThoseAutoGuys thankyou
I got the 10 series.. and there is a little plate near the driver side door towards the back.. its always dirty how do you clean it.. and what is it
Are you talking about the Scion metal place on the door sill? I dont have that,.
Sorry bud, the car doesn't get terrible mileage, the driver does.
I can achieve 36mpg on the highway all day. Sometimes 33.
I have a 2014 tC with just an exhaust.
What kind of tires do you have sir ? I drive mine conservatively and am getting 26 tops
Whats the exhaust setup ?
Agency Power Catback V1 (Retired)
CNT S-Pipe
The Scion tC is definitely quicker then the Corolla. I test drive them both and went with the tc.
It's cause the TC has close to 200hp whereas Corollas has always been underpowered.
Thinking of a 2012 tc.. what does the stereo system come with it? Also when they say 25 to 30 miles to the gallon , is this true?
I have seen many different answers to this. Not really sure.
Ok thank you ..
It's true, i have a 2012 and constantly get between 27-28
@@tonytnguyen92 how
I’m trying get new engine in my first GEN have any ideas of getting a motor
Best option is to go with what ever fits and makes sense money wise. You could always put the same motor back in. Really is your own canvas.
was looking to buy a tc,this helps.great video!
I am glad you enjoyed the video
Where can I get those skirts I wonder?
The CF Side Skirts are from Seibon and the lip kit is from NIA Auto Designers
@@ThoseAutoGuys Thank you so much man!
Gr8 vid but cant get over the Jay Leno vibes from the way u look and talk. Anyone ever tell u that?
I have not, but thank you!
Your state is in NY my friend?
We are from the Tri-State area of NY NJ
Yea i got the 2015 tc,gotta say i prefer it over the frs
The FRS/BRZ/GT86 platform has more of a following and therefore gets more modifications. I got the tC because it was to be my daily and RWD in the North East isnt the best option.
Where did you get the bumper ?
I am going to assume you mean the Lip Kit. It is an NIA Auto Designs kit paint matched
Can I get a URL to your exhaust and seats? Plz
The exhaust is from Agency Power. Unfortunately they dont make it anymore. The seats are from Braum Racing
I found the exhaust it’s around 650
@@freddoostrong can you link it please
@@freddoostrong link?please
Where u get those headlights?
These are the stock headlights.
I love mine but the gas consumption is killing me😭
I own a 2016 Tc and I don’t know what to do to it
Buy everything you think you may want to do. Worse comes to worse once they are sold out you can sell them for more i guess
That being said go for the basics.
Intake
Exhaust
Coils/air ride/ lowering springs
Wheels
Front strut bar
I will be making a video at the end of the season for all the mods done to the tC.
Have you done anything with the input shaft bearing for the manuals?
I have not messed with anything for the transmission. It came with the TRD quick shifter from factory
Idk what your gas mileage problem is. I have a 15 that I beat the crap out of and still get 30mpg 😆
You got OCD??
Where did u get the seats?
They are Braum Racing seats with planted brackets.
Where can I get that wing ?
The trunk spoiler is OEM and the roof spoiler is from SpoilerKing
I have a 2016 and I get 28 miles pg
