Just bought one. A ‘23, same trim, color & equipment minus sunroof and rear seat entertainment system. Really like the front end styling. Has a look of determination. Almost 57k, so the “budget friendly” term is relative. Very nice car…quiet, comfy, lots of gadgets. Had a 2011 for over a decade. Loved it. Hope to have this one just as long. Fuel economy seems better than previous Jeep, up from 18 to 21 in suburban driving. Six cylinder plenty for us. Smooth & efficient. Best two-row suv out there.
I had a Grand Cherokee once but this might bring me back. I think the last generation's design is timeless but the new one actually looks pretty good on the outside and the interior is way beyond the old one. They needed buttons for the climate control. I hated going through the screen to turn on heated seats.
Yeah I don’t understand why car brands do that, they shouldn’t put climate controls in a infotainment system, they all should have analog controls for climate, make it intuitive.
I just rented a black 2022 for a few days was super smooth to drive and comfortable. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like honestly. Jeep might be my next or second ride after driving this one.
I have the limited X in this color. I agree with you on the previous one looking better. I do like the inside of this one but not sure how I feel about all the gloss black.
Topher, one thing to note is that the car you drove does not have lane centering it has lane keep assist which isn’t great as you noted. The Lane centering option is very good on these new Jeeps.
I know its still a jeep but this thing is almost on the level of a Range Rover in terms of design and off-road capability and in my opinion its definitely worth it for the price.
I don't understand why manufacturers are so stubborn about piano black trim. Even when consumers and journalists scream about it, they keep doing it. This has been a complaint for years, but they don't give up on it.
I won't lie, I like the way it looks, but not at the price of the practicality of it in a Jeep. Scratches too easily and it only looks good when it's clean, which by the way is hard to do because it attracts fingerprints like no tomorrow and shows every single speck of dust. Even good quality gloss vinyl wrap is more forgiving of scratches than gloss plastic. Maybe if they would of textured the gloss black, like the textured silver trim on the previous model, but it wouldn't have looked as good.
Was this Limited a pre-production unit? If you build a Limited on the Jeep website you cannot option the rear seat entertainment and front passenger display. 🤔

It’s agonizing because I don’t have a car in the meantime (car wreck last November in my Titan, freak accident solo spin out), but I wanted to build what I wanted this time. Nice video, very excited to have mine. The glossy black getting scuffed definitely is a bummer, I wonder if there is something I can put on it to protect it a little? But this limited package is pretty much exactly the one I got but I didn’t do 20 inch wheels or the rear tvs (but those are very cool, low key want them but they’d be a waste for my usage). I am kinda jealous of how easy it is for you to get in and out of the jeep haha. I am 6’8” and while I fit, I definitely gotta kinda squeeze myself in there. But that’s par for the course on 99% of vehicles for me. Thanks for sharing!
I’m really confused, this ‘Limited’ trim that you are reviewing. It has many more options than what is available to spec in the builder on Jeep’s website for the Limited trim. I’ve seen other reviews with similar features on the Limited too, but I don’t understand why you can’t spec these options on the website. For example, the passenger screen and rear seat entertainment screens cannot be added to a Limited trim on the website.
When I go to build one I can have the extra display as an option. The rear seat entertainment is not but I believe you can build one at a dealer with that request.
I've found the 3.6L to feel faster than it really is. Not that it is bad. My mother currently owns a 2018 Grand Cherokee with this engine, she only has 7k miles on it and the previous three vehicles were all Dodge products with that very engine. Once in a while, I would borrow one of these vehicles over the years or she would have me drive her to a doctor's appointment the next town over (4-hour round trip), she is getting older and does not like driving much. I have found that engine to be smooth for the power it has, especially with the 8-speed transmission. I have driven it with the 5-speed and 6-speed transmissions and the 8-speed makes a HUGE difference in the way power is used and fuel efficiency.
It’s a really good motor definitely the best one that was made during the FCA merger, my mother had a 200S Awd with the 3.6 and that car was very quick. It almost sounds like a Maserati with the base V6 when you have it in Sport mode and using the paddle shifters, I remember that I can stick with the 300, Charger, and Challenger since the 200 was lighter and more aerodynamic. My mother did trade the 200 in for a Alfa Romeo Stelvio Sport Ti which is also quick, but again that 3.6 is a good and so far a reliable motor which surprises some since it’s from Chrysler.
@@La-yt1wr - I've owned two Dodge products over the years and as stated above my mother has owned a few over the last 10 years. Honestly, I've never had a problem with the two Dodge products. Neither has my mother, nor any friends. Both of mine were Caravans, one was a 1993 and the other was 2004. They never left me or my wife and kids stranded and both had high mileage when sold. Oh, almost forgot. My father was a Ford man so we had mostly Fords sprinkled with a few GM's through the years. It was not long after my parents got divorced did my mother own a Dodge product. With that, my stepmom had Dodge products because her father worked and retired from Dodge so she was raised around them and got family discounts. Not a single one of her ever gave her a problem either. I honestly do not know anyone that has had Dodge products with issues. I've had more problems with the Fords I've owned over the years than Dodge or Kia. My GMs were okay at best but they usually had some issues around the 100-130k mile mark. My current Kia is tougher than my Explorer. I would purchase a Kia/Hyundai or Dodge product over a Ford right now. Though that new Maverick is looking great and the same can be said with the full-size Bronco.

Maybe Jeep can redo the exterior back design a little bit and make it like the last previous one. with a slightly aggressive and bigger tail lights, and more square off design. It is about 15k more but they also hold that value in re-sale so in my opinion with all the extra options , and luxury features you get with the overland is worth it. You get better wheels , higher end suspension set up , better leather seats (different material ) , upgraded sound system , panoramic roof and different bumpers.
All that piano black plastic is going to be a nightmare to keep up, it's going to look like hell in a year. Other than that, nice job Stellantis. I'd never own one long-term, all My Jeep's fell apart after 100K, but it would be a nice place to be for a few years.
I'm deciding between this 2 row jeep or the New MDX. I like the interior of the MDX and the exterior more, but the interior isn't exciting or have a touch screen.
How do the buttons feel? I know it sounds like a weird question, but they kept sounding hollow and cheap when you pushed or pulled them. Even when you pulled the interior door handle, it sounded cheap. Not sure if it was just how the camera mic made it sound. And yes, the center console side plastic sounded very cheap. It's one thing to make the interior "look" good (which it does), but the operation of the parts in the interior need to sound good too. I'm not expecting a Lexus level of refinement or smoothness, but something better than what I was hearing and I'm a Jeep fan boy (I'm on my 3rd, wondering about a 4th). I do feel sorry for the people that don't realize piano black scratches very easily. You can't just take a paper towel and wipe it, especially if you live near alot of sand or dirt. The sand particles in just the dust will make a new unsuspecting owner cry on the first wipe.
@@alexwhite3232 If it's just dusty, a soft microfiber car duster works, but if you want to wipe off fingerprints, a clean microfiber towel (like what's used to polish cars) with light pressure. If you live in sandy areas, what looks like dust can contain abrasive particles which will scratch the surface when wiped dry with pressure. You'll see the light scratches when the light hits. Never use paper towels. Even Terry cloth towels can scratch the surface. Think of it like having a vehicle that's painted black. It's not exposed to the elements like the exterior paint, but you would never wipe the exterior of a dirty vehicle with a dry towel and shiny plastic scratchs a lot easier than car paint.
I may have missed it, but what version of the limited is this? Currently on the Jeep site, none of the packages that are included in this are available on the "Build Your Own" option
I don't think this is a limited model. with all the xtra screens and features I think this is an overland or summit model. If I can get this package for $45,000 though sign me up!
They couldn’t be bother to put a locking gas lid. I have 21 GC limited and it has it. I absolutely love it even though the rear camera resolution is bad and my rear seat leg room is tiny.
I have a limited on order. Should be taking delivery early April. Checked all options except for the 20 inch wheels. Not a fan of the design. Especially for 1800 dollars.
Been wondering i cant get the same exact copy of this car. I was checking on jeep portal and the screen on the passenger side wont show up. Is this some sort of special edition
Same here. The front in the previos versión, with the Day running lights were a lot more eye catching, unique. The 2022 version is just ok, nothing unique about it, but it's not a deal breaker for me.
Im considering one of these for my next vehicle. Also in the running are Ridgeline and Maverick. GC has better tech and safety features than the RL and best interior of the 3. Maverick has similar tech and safety to the GC and is way cheaper but it’s pretty small inside and out, and driving position is too low to the ground for my preference. RL has the best reliability and most clever/pracrical storage solutions and longest wheelbase for stable towing but is totally outdated even for 2022. Tough choice…

This redesign was originally supposed to occur in 2021, and was to include the TrackHawk. I think it’s a shame they decided to discontinue this model but still have the Hellcat Durango
That’s the base price. This one had a ton of options on it. 4x4, red velvet paint, pano roof, 20-inch rims, navigation system, passenger screen display, RSE… I’m gonna also play a game of price is right and say that this GC stickered for between $52k-55k most likely.

That's a pretty cool review
Far as SUV's for me the Grand Cherokee, 4runner & MDX are my favorite 3 for different reasons!
I just got this grand Cherokee but whit DVD on top instead of the back seats
I'm deciding between this 2 row jeep or the New MDX. I like the interior of the MDX and the exterior more, but the interior isn't exciting or have a touch screen.
MDX would require Premium Gas if that matters to you! I got a GCL SR last month for this very reason and also the 3rd row in GCL was more spacious
i like the interior look of this Jeep...but to be honest i like the exterior look of last generation jeep grand cherookee wk2
The WK2 is my second favorite behind the WJ.
Damn, I’m one of those future new owners. Any tips on keeping the piano black from scratching instantly? Soft clothes to clean?
There goes your life savings! Not so sure I'd personally pay so much for a car. More than necessary for reliable and comfortable transportation.
calm down with the screens the more screens the more stressful the car feels.
would u reccomend the 2021 Volkswagen Jetta SEL Premium for a first time driver?
I don't think this is a limited model. with all the xtra screens and features I think this is an overland or summit model. If I can get this package for $45,000 though sign me up!
I don’t think this is the limited that is coming out. The passenger screen isn’t a option on the limited now
They couldn’t be bother to put a locking gas lid. I have 21 GC limited and it has it. I absolutely love it even though the rear camera resolution is bad and my rear seat leg room is tiny.
This looks better than the Grand Cherokee L
Agreed!
Can't wait to test drive the 4xe version later this year
can you try to do a 2022 toyota Camry XLE V6 please
Can you stream through the fire tv app on the passenger side? Or does it just control the back seat screens?
I thought the limited didn’t have the passenger screen?
I have a limited on order. Should be taking delivery early April. Checked all options except for the 20 inch wheels. Not a fan of the design. Especially for 1800 dollars.
Love it... noglade about keeping gauge display classic. I just don't like the new screens in some cars...
Can’t find this trim with the passenger and back seat screens in my area. Are you sure this is the standard trim?
Been wondering i cant get the same exact copy of this car. I was checking on jeep portal and the screen on the passenger side wont show up. Is this some sort of special edition
Does the passenger screen comes as standard in the limited 2 rows? I know the 3 rows doesn’t come with one.
How does that model have the passenger screen? Don’t see the option on site
I prefer the older generation design b/c it looked more aggressive
Agreed.
Same here. The front in the previos versión, with the Day running lights were a lot more eye catching, unique. The 2022 version is just ok, nothing unique about it, but it's not a deal breaker for me.
Piano Black. Dealbreaker.
I dont see any of these options when building online for the Limited, are you sure this is limited?
Very nice !!! is that another screen over the glove box?
Yeah. But I don’t think its on the limited trim, this I don’t think is the limitsd
Hey in other reviews the control heating and cool system is control with the tablet . Who is right ?
It would be awesome if you can also do a review on the 2 row Overland trim
This is a very nice car hope to get it one day, big fan of grand Cherokee.
DONT DO IT
Are these rear monitors original from Jeep ?? Thanks in advance
How does the rear entertainment work for fire tv as far as WiFi? How does it stream?
It's nice.
But the turn signal stock and wiper stock are still cheap from the 2000's.
love the review man and great car by jeep! 💯
HEMI 6.2 with supercharger, will be on this machine?
What’s the exact window sticker for this vechile
Im considering one of these for my next vehicle. Also in the running are Ridgeline and Maverick. GC has better tech and safety features than the RL and best interior of the 3. Maverick has similar tech and safety to the GC and is way cheaper but it’s pretty small inside and out, and driving position is too low to the ground for my preference. RL has the best reliability and most clever/pracrical storage solutions and longest wheelbase for stable towing but is totally outdated even for 2022. Tough choice…
Does anyone know how quickly the oil and oil filter will be available? Me and my dad do the maintenance on all the cars that's why I ask.
Sticker price was only 45k with all the options in this one?
My 21 grand cherokee L Limited that has been in the shop 15 times doesn't have that passenger screen or the rear entertainment screens and sticker was 54k
Even still they don't tell you the vehicle software is still not complete on jeeps end smh
Cheap materials are a deal breaker for the discerning customer.
40k start preis in usa but why start 79 k preis in germany
Trailhawk 2row test please👍👍😎🇺🇸
Wow killed it ❤❤❤I have 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo is good gasoline that’s so save eco friendly and etc that’s so nice I’d love it I need to upgrade for new look bc old trim and don’t have one I seen it not make it of the parts ugh I wish buy it 2017 to up
This might be my next vehicle. Looks like it offers a lot
Sales on these things are outrageous, going to look at a Limited today that’s 14 grand off…
Digital clusters actually do suck. They offer too much, you're getting anything BUT what's really needed: bells and whistles instead of proper clean tach and speedometer that doesn't need too much attention to read info from. Mazda 6 has minimalistic display though which I liked, but still...
awesome! sunroof for everyone! well done jeep!
Good review
For $60k which vehicle overall to finance and keep which one do you think is better… the all new 2022 Acura MDX Aspec. Or this Jeep Grand Cherokee limited?
now u got me thinking 2
This redesign was originally supposed to occur in 2021, and was to include the TrackHawk. I think it’s a shame they decided to discontinue this model but still have the Hellcat Durango
?? What?? It’s still around
Is this summit reserve?
What package does this limited have?
Where is the exhaust?
I assume the one as tested was more in the $55k range?
Probably 52-53.
He said it was 45k
That’s the base price. This one had a ton of options on it. 4x4, red velvet paint, pano roof, 20-inch rims, navigation system, passenger screen display, RSE… I’m gonna also play a game of price is right and say that this GC stickered for between $52k-55k most likely.
@@ATRichard yea I missed that, my bad. Probably 55k+ easy.
@@goldenknob06Starts at 45K this one is probably 52-53K with options.
