    Fact! 😂. I’m not too picky, as long as I’m out fishing it’s usually a good day. (I love my dad’s custom antique fiberglass 5wt. Slow but excellent. 👍👍👌🎣

    I said something like that to a fishing buddy a while ago.He likes only fast fly rods. I said, " If you hand me any fly rod because I don't have one of mine, I'm gonna have to figure it out."

      Always have to figure it out and adjust. Thanks for watching.

    I’ve used several different types/brands of rods before and I just adapt my timing to the rod. Having a experienced fly shop is the key for me. They’ll properly rig you for success.

    I have found over the years that it's not really what you have on the bank but how you present the bait to the fish that counts

      Presentation is the key. As Brian always says……”Just make it ACT like food”. Thanks for watching.

    I think you use what you have and as your skill set improves, you will begin to really appreciate the difference between fast and slow rods and you then can maybe move into a different rod.

    As someone new to fishing what exactly does the "speed" or "action" of the rod pertain to?

    • @awageam
      @awageam 11 месяцев назад

      It's how the rod bends. A fast action bends near the top. A slow rod will bend throughout the whole rod

    This is all to familiar. Going fishing with friends and one pulls out a 300 dollar st. Croix rod and barley gets anything while I'm over here using a zebco sling shot that I picked up at Walmart for $20 and a basic ugly stick and I'll catch all day.

    Well I've tried a cheap Cabela's rod combo, and I hated fly fishing almost immediately.
    Three years later I tried an orvis recon with great line, best thing in the world to fly fish.
    I don't disagree, but you can spend too little and ruin it, I can tell you that right now.

    How would it be easier to cast 80ft on the surf with a slow rod compared to a fast rod? Also fishing heavier indicator rigs out west is definitely not “better” with a slow and or fiberglass rod. also why did flip design the axium rods if slow rods are better in his opinion. Just something to think about….

    • @Madriveroutfitters
      @Madriveroutfitters  11 месяцев назад

      He didn’t say at all that slow rods were better. He said to know what action fits your cast. Maybe watch the full length video? He explains well in that one. There should be a link in the description.
