I'm so glad this series is continuing!
Bro I thought he ended it bro
I love the history and information.
Agreed 💯
Yeah… I was scared that # 40 was it for the series. I knew he had many more episodes he could do.
Yes!!
Blue Funk is so slept on, Hev could rhyme harder than 99% of cats out there and never had to cuss once.
Definitely slept on.I wasn't the biggest Heavy D fan but Blue Funk was definitely nice.It was the only record of his I ever bought.
@@gakdaniels76 A lot of his other records have some great joints on too, lotta Marley Marl and even early Pete Rock cuts. Just sometimes gotta skip past some of the new jack swing tracks to get to the heat, but Blue Funk was like 90% ill shit.
His best album!
Real Talk he was very underrated and dope. R.I.P.
You ain't neva lied. That album is a hidden gem.
That 92 Interlude was my ring tone for over 3 years...I didn't want to answer my phone when it rang🙂
Im so glad this is coming back, literally my favorite series on youtube
Why the stop
I got Blue Funk album when it was new. For the longest, I always thought this was a Pete Rock track!!! You got me Preem!! 🤯🤯🤯
Definitely sound like a Pete Rock beat.
I definitely thought it was Pete as well, based on the bass undertones...
Same! The drum samples, the song format, the Big Daddy Kane samples, I swore it was Pete Rock!
@@stevechase2232 I didn't know it was a Preemo beat until I hear the 92 interlude from daily operation. A decade later, Rah digga took the same beat.
@@djgreenhornet2892 whatever the ffuck people say, Preemo is and remains a legend to me
R.i.p Heav D.. the way he freaked that 92' interlude into yes y'all was fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
RIP to the Heavster and peace to his fam.👊🏽💯
Legendary and 'Blue Funk' was a really dope album. RIP Heavy-D.
I remember hearing the '92 interlude beat on 'Daily' and pissed it wasn't a full song. Thank you, Heavy for convincing Premo to make the track! R.I.P.
You took me back to 93, my senior year in high school, in my bedroom listening to my huge speakers. Heavy D is not to be messed with, one of the best lyricist, word playist, flow stylist, dancers, cameoist, most consistent, an actor, producer, and I’m forgetting some and don’t know the half of all he did. And yes I used -ist, it’s Heavy D, he deserves it, he’s an instrument of HIP-HOP 100 times over✊🏾😎
Yes Heavy was super dope when it came to lyrics
He is also cousins with Pete Rock
@@dramatyst5661
Indeed, i graduated in 91, when this album came out we couldn’t believe premo finally made a song to that 92 interlude. We bumped it everyday. I still bump it now like it just came out.
93! Yessssss
Which school did you go to, #think3632?
I remember my college roommates and I would run this interlude like it was a song. we constantly rewound it wishing it was longer or better yet, a whole song. It was one of the DOPEST interludes EVER! I loved it to death but was also mad that Guru never spit on the track. I am glad that Premier spoke on his reluctance to redo the track for Hev. Hev did his thing on it though. 92 Interlude is so dope that just hearing it gets me emotional. Salute to you Preemo!
So glad Hev used it. I'm still mad at Busta for not rapping on the intros to his first 2 albums lol
One of the many reasons I began to DJ back then... to play things back over and over. Crazy how today you can just set a loop in Serato and it will play indefinitely.
Hands Down, one of the top 3 piano riff loops in Hip Hop, No disrespect I’m sure we can all agree, “The Bridge Is Over” is #1😊
@@mlaws11291 Those intro beats on Busta's "The Coming" were BONKERS, right? I think 8off the Assasin did those beats, on the low, uncredited.
Westwood had a loop of 92 interlude that he used for a lot of continuity bits on his radio show bitd.
That beat though! Holy fuck! DJ Premier literally makes my favorite style of hip-hop and he makes it sound so fucking solid. He never fails. Ever. And his run with Guru!? 🤯 Historic. Legendary.
So happy this is back. Was worried he called it quits
Nah he was just really busy with tours etc.
YES!!! Bout damn time. Left us hanging for a minute after MC Eiht. Thought that was the end. So glad it's back. So many hits to dive into memory lane. In the immortal words of Preemo... Let's get it in!!!
I remember the sample was first used on "92 Interlude" (Gang Starr, Daily Operation)
DJ Premiere needs a segment where he talks about barely getting off projects and what he did to make them happen.
Yeah I like that🎙🔥
No he doesn't
I haven't heard this song in years, the last I heard this song was on the WGCI Super Rap Mini Mix back in the 90s.
RIP Heavy D he went in on that joint
RIP Heavy D RIP Guru
This guy was huge in 89 literally and figuratively
DJ Premier is the greatest producer of all time.
RIP Heavy D & Biz Markie, 2 of the alltime greatests
R.I.P. heavy D
" some people are beat makers, some people are producers.....Im both". that was an educational bar for yall azz
Here comes the Heavster 😎
I miss Hev.
If you listen to his last 2 albums then you know he would be relevant today if he was still here. He could easily switch styles
THE REAL IS BACK!
That shirt mane. I love how he /we pay homage to our elders. Its cool to say and know how much we paid attention to our elders for style knowledge and all that. Much love and respect to the ones b4 us may the youth respect us like that. Yooo that's that physical thang by Backstreet. LOL I LOVE HIP HOP
REST EASY TO ALL OUR LOVED MCS DJS ETC...
That’s the Hardest lyrics I ever heard from.
Heavy D
R.I.P. 🎙 🙏🏽
Heavy D is one of my favorite iconic hip hop artists to hear stories about. That guy was really something special.
Rest In Peace Heavster
Respect!
Heavy D doesn’t get the flowers or respect he deserves
I missed this series! Thank you Preemo
GURU, BIG, BIZ Markie, All Y'All Who Passed Away, We Miss U!
The RIPs at the end are extra sad because all of those guys should still be here. None of them would even be elderly yet.
I'm glad this is back. Love the creative conversation.
The 90’s were my shit! Especially coming from Cali and hanging out in NYC, with family in Hempstead and going back and forth to the Manhattan was bananas 🍌, going to the Tunnel, Nell’s shit was 🔥! Jam Rock in Mineola/ Hempstead area just a different vibe than that L.A. shit I been through!
About time! I was getting nervous that the series was over
Insanely underrated album....Love Blue Funk! Preem, you got SEVERAL interlude beats that should be songs! And...there will never be another Heavy D! RIP! Forever Salute!
Peaze Premo, Rest In Parardise 2 Da Heavsta...Heavy D is missed 4 Sho Preem,...Mister Overweight Lover...One of the most funkiest & slick ones who ever rocked da Mic....... Blast out songs of Blue Funk still in 2022.......R.I.P. GURU R.I.P. Biz Markie.....Rest Easy KingZ...One......
Heavy tripped me out in New Jersey Drive when he was talking gangsta to the car thieves. He was the Heavy Weight Lover but played that gangster part proper R.I.P HEAVY D 🙏
I was just listening to the "Waterbed Hev" album this morning, absolutely chill and dope album from an astonishing artist
Rest in peace Heavy d. 🙏
Much respect Premo!!! The 92 Interlude and Yes Y’all is a all time classic!!!!! In my opinion you are The Godfather of Boom Bap!!!!
Gratitude.
RIP Heavy D 🙏 Preem U Did It Again ✌️ 😎
One of my all time fav Hev D cuts. Beat and lyrics were fire!
Definitely showed Hev's versatility. One of my fav Hev's cuts also!
Man!!!! I used to rock Daily Operation HARD and I used to keep that interlude in a loop. I even went on to record it on a loop on a tape. Miss the 90s. Love my Boom Bap!!!!
Respect!!! Interlude 92’ RIP Overweight Lover in da house!
This was one of my favorite samples. Loved both versions. That Aretha Franklin piano sample from "Young, Gifted and Black" is sick!!!! Props to Dj Premier and Rest in Power Heavy D. We miss you!!!!!
I was thinking to myself earlier this fine Friday afternoon, "I wonder if Premo will be doing any more "So Wassup" episodes" And sure enough here we are for it!! Looking forward to Monday
Same thought in the last week or so. stoked.
Blue Funk is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 the back and forth of Preemo & Pete Rock on that jawn make it BONKERS!!!
I set a loop in Serato and let it play indefinitely. One of the beet pieces ever.
I played that interlude out on the Daily Operation album. When Heavy used it I gave an ear and liked it. No wonder! 👍🏿
Blue Funk was a classic album
PREAM TEAM! " welcome back "
Regardless what anyone says, Preemo always comes out real strong with hits and "92 Interlog" was made for Heavy D and he nailed this timeless "Classic"!! SALUTE TO PREEMO ALWAYS!!
Dope Stevie Wonder shirt and Rocket Love hat!!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Preemo for continuing to do this series, the real hip hop heads been starving and every "So Wassup?" is a full course meal.
I'm 33. Always held heavy d in high regards but just recently found out how integral he was to our culture and popular culture as a whole. Much love and respect to the overweight lover.
This man is such a genius, has been so for a long time, but unlike other producers from the golden age he is still open to today's sounds and artists. Always positive and constructive. Primo is the man.
and we're back! sup sup sup sup. Vast majority of my vinyl is 93, it was the pinnacle of that sound.
Holla Long live DJ Premier
Long live Heavy D
Blue Funk is a classic!
One Of My favorites off blue funk
#RIP Heavy D 💙
That beat reminded me of Rite Were You Stand towards the end of the track, Premo the best beat maker
That "92 Interlude" Is Something Special. So Glad This Is Back. I Love This Series So Much!!! R.I.P. Heavy D. #SALUTE #SOWASSUP
Jay Z definitely used the 92 Interlude for his track Lost Ones
Dope! We missed you Preemo💾🎧
Heavy Ds flow was impeccable
This man is the GOAT. Y'all so-called "producers" today are barely computer beat makers...lmao This man knows how to work with reel to reel and cut & edit 2 inch tape an all that, y'all digital kids have no clue.
He really is arguably the GOAT. He’s my fav when it all comes down to it
One of the Most underrated Rappers as time went on . Before Gangster rap took over Heavy D was one of the illest and FLYEST!! Mount Vernon aka The Town Salute
Heavy-D & The Boys...Troy Dixon
Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth..Trouble T Roy
Preemo = GOAT #1
Glad these are back
Got into daily operation earlier this year and totally felt what Preme was talking about with that interlude. Only got a taste so I had to keep running it back, had no idea this track with Heavy D existed that’s awesome!
Your son has best of both worlds. An uncle a hall of fame baseball player: Derick Jeter and a Hall of fame Underground Hip Hop producer: Premo that’s what’s up!!!
Here Comes the Heavster is tough!
i'd just play that interlude over and over back in the day. i still love it.
Its been a long wait. Got worried it wasnt coming back. Iconic
RIP, Heavy D! We Miss U!
Salute to my big bro Preemo!! Thank you for this episode! You are appreciated🙏🏾👊🏾...long Live King Heavy-D!!🎤👑 #HeavyDEveryDay #4SquareMiles #FamilyTime
Here comes the Hevster.... is there a story to that? Cause that joint was fire too
I remember moving cities for the first time in my 18 years on this planet, 6 months after the move our house was built. The day we moved in was when episode 1 dropped. Good times 😊
as a Fat ass Hip-Hop nerd growing up in a hood where I aint have shit, it was always a special moment first time I heard Heavy-D on something I barely remember the songs I was so young but can never forget the feeling. Appreciate these stories premo, damn!
This episode was bittersweet cause of so many RIPs Premo said throughout....I'm glad it's back though
Blue Funk needs a high quality repress on Vinyl badly.
In 1992 that’s where I met you guru remember that so Great to see you talking about floppy disks love it🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Glad I found this channel I learned so much
I love this brother….our 90s Hip hop producer king of the golden era. As a 49 year old, appreciating looking back a mere 30 years, DJ Premier’s production and sounds were incorporated into some of the songs of artists that were soundtracks of my early life. I’m so glad we are keeping this going. Please let us give this man our beloved his flowers while he’s still on this earth educating and sharing his music production experiences in hip hop with us. Peace and blessings PREMO 🙏🏽 and thank you for everything you’ve done for Hip hop?
One of the best if not the best tracks from Blue Funk... 🔥🔥🔥
Damn those floppy 💾 disks take me way back to when i was a spring chicken with the runny nose 😎💯 #80sBaby #ThaGoat 💯🔥🔥
I am so glad he convinced you to make the record. When I first heard 92 Interlude I wanted it to be a whole song. One of my favorites on that album
Blue Funk was fire!
#MountVernonStandTheFukUp!!!👑✨👑
Floppy Disk looks good on you.
big respect😎
So Wassup is back Preemo glad you kept this series going Rise In Power Heavy D 4 Eva. Even though the beat was an interlude Preemo still flipped it classic 🔥🔥🔥
Preemo is my #1 favorite hip hop producer PERIOD
Eternal LOvE !!!!!
