The drum break is one of those classics that everyone was using at the time, but this is one of the best renditions. It got in my head so much, that when making beats, I have to try hard not to bite it. I had DWYCK and Faking the Funk on repeat back in the day!

I was an intern at D&D studios from 98 -99 and then an executive at D&D records from 2000 till its closing in 2008. I was very young when I asked Primo in the studio what “DWYCK” meant and he told me specifically that it stood for, “Don’t You Wish You Could Know!” I was just a stupid, young intern at that time and everyone laughed when he said it. Till this day, that is what I believe it means.

Marlon Wayans absolutely buggin’ out the whole performance. He kept doing all these crazy steps with random people the whole time. He gets Shawn in with him at one point. He gets Smooth to start, like, side stepping really quick. I think he even gets Jim Carrey to start buggin’ out at a point. Dope visual. It’s up on RUclips if you wanna see it for yourself.

Such an iconic song. From Jay-Z on the All The Way Up Remix to you and Greg Nice appearing on Run The Jewels Ooh La La, the song transcends as more than just a summer hit from '92. This song will forever live on. RIP Gifts Unlimited Rhymes Universal

DWYCK is the first track in my opinion that had a differnet sound than the "old" primo, meaning the drums were just hitting harder

This song used to bang so hard in our cafeteria at Alabama State Univ. We had a DJ in the South Dining Hall and he used to play DWYCK on a daily basis! I bought the single cassette and played it religiously in my car. I STILL have it in my 90's playlist. Such a dope song! Did you sample the beat or play it?
