No matter what song he highlights, he always has a good memory on the artist and the energy that was brought into the session. Much love Premier
Sauce money, Hov, Osiris, Shyheim and Scoob all laid their bars nicely
Scoob was wack, bruh.
@@gaylordfocker7990 what about him 'was/is' wack🥴
DJ Premier is one of the greatest gifts to the context of music
Nas is Like, The 6th Sense, When i B on tha Mic, Mathematics next!
He did that Mos Def joint already.
@@josemor2719 It's not on youtube.
@@BlackenedLiam You're right. My fault.
@@josemor2719 its fine, dont worry bout it
I would like for him to do Capone and Norega- " Invincible ", Sonja Blade- " Look 4 the Name!" That song with her is soooo underrated! 2 beats in one!
as a 46 year old HipHop head, I marvel at how much I don’t know after listening to the legends like Premier bless us with this behind the scenes info. Good lookin ✌🏼
It’s funny you just naturally forget sometimes of the different changes in hip hop. Like him mentioning the posse joints.
Yo word.
@@tragic504 exactly
"When The East is in the house"
"Oh my God"
"DANGER!"
Dirty Snapped on this🔥🤣
Word, Ason Unique, no father to his style
I love the way Kane starts off his verse "whoooooooooo is da man?" 😂
lol I love that shit. Flowin'.
I respect that Kane admitted that he didn't fit Preemo's beats in an interview, he admits to rhyming like he was back in the day.
R.I.P. to the late, great ODB, he played anchor on this joint for a reason.
Kane flow was impeccable on this joint!
on every joint
The whole album is an underrated 90's gem, imo.
Strong as an elephant intelligent compelling and elegant
Primo is a beacon of hip hop 💥❤️
Wu Tang Killa bees on the swarm." ODB perfect vibe to da beat.
Kane got a new album lately that showed how he connected to the modern style of rap nicely.
Peace Salute everybody. jea
The level of technical knowledge required to make this happen is amazing. We overlook the technological side of hip-hop, but Preem is making it plain for us, talking about the cables, the different drum machines, etc. You had to be a craftsman and a technician to make music during the inception of Hip-Hop. Salute to guys like Marley Marl, Preem, Large Professor, RZA, Diamond D and many others who put the work in to learn the arts of sampling, mixing, production, operating the equipment, and also having the ear to make great music on top of it all! This is why I love the culture.
Dope hoodie! Paying homage to the new school. Benny! Big Daddy is one of my favorite lyricist of all time and this is one of my favorite tracks from him. Thanks for sharing this ILL story Prem!
R.I.P. Dirt McGirt. Love this track-a posse cut for the ages, “Show And Prove”! 🔥
Classic and underrated posse cut. Everyone killed their verses.
Big Daddy Kane is still the best poet and rhymer of all time!
Super Facts, and it ain't even close!!
Yeah the stupid billboards made all these other rappers better than him how disrespectful
my mind spray by jeru the damaja, and mic stance by Afu-ra Next! 💯
Epic posse cut. Great story Primo. Mad props to all the legends on this joint.🔥🔊🔥
RIP ODB🔥
Salute the floppy Y’all.💾💾💾💾💾💾
Peace.
Tell me WHOOOOOOOO is the man! Everybody went off on this track. RIP odb
Don't leave! I'm onnnnnnnn myyyyyy waaaaay! LOL love it RIP ODB
Never knew premo did this beat
Me either and I have the CD.
People used to get touchy during the 2000s with the Napster and Bear Share MP3 music sharing days but if it wasn't for that I wouldn't have been able to absorb all the classic hip-hop from Rakim, Kane, KRS-One, Kool G Rap, and many others because when they were hot in the 90s I was still too young to buy tapes and even then even in High School not every CD music store had huge volumes of rap albums other than the contemporary releases. But I still remember like yesterday I had waited over an hour (slow connection) downloading Daddy's Home, Strictly Business and many others to my little SanDisk MP3 back in 2007 or 2008 so I could hear it while going for a walk to exercise. Also shoutout to Tony Hawk Pro Skater because that's what put me onto Mass Appeal and made me a Ganstarr fan 4 life. 😇
Wow people like you is why the music industry went to sh!t & we got this streaming BS now, congratulations
Loved Premier's music since teen days listening to Gang Starr classic LPs Step in the Arena and Daily Operation, then branching out from there to Jeru and Damaja, Stone's Throw records, and a whole world of great music.
I always knew DJ Premier was a maestro and a walking music encyclopedia, but even though I have seen him perform Dublin and snippets of him talking on documentaries, this is the first time I've heard him speaking at length and learn what a gentleman he is on top everything else. What a legend.
After me and my ex stumbled upon this song, we had a running joke where when we would say "I don't know", we'd say it like ODB says it in his verse 😂
Go ask your god damn father
"go ask your got damn father!"
Lol that is freaking awesome
I first heard this song in 2018 doing Uber eats shout outs to the legends and I'm a young cat if it wasn't for my independent contractor jobs I wouldn't know about none of these hits
My top 3 posse cut ever. Every verse is memorable.
You mean you honestly like that verse from Scoob (the 1st verse)
💯 I do it all from top to bottom. Writing, composing, producing, performing, recording, sound design, mixing, mastering, cover art, etc...
Damn I hope they don’t forget about dj premier in the future of hip hop this dude is like a hip hop god. I wish he can live forever he’s so great
Big Daddy Kane is The G.O.A.T.!! Long Lives The Kane!! 🐐 🐐 👑 👑
Love this show … keeping the 90’s Hip Hop vibe alive .. Peace and Love 🙏🏾
One of my fav artists. The legend. The original BiG, Big Daddy Kane.
Big Daddy Kane is unique and powerful.
We need common - 6th sense
Mos def - mathematics
Preem the 🐐
Shout out to LG! My hood forever!
Shout out to Preme and Kane and everyone else on the track and video... super classic
Love this track Kane murders this shit
I’ve been releasing cypher based beat tapes called “cypher tapes” that were inspired by this song
This song inspired a big part of my musical personality and style
I have to say that I understand exactly what Preem means about wanting that mix. I think that's why a lot of people didn't realize he produced it. The elements of his style are definitely there (that little flutter right before it loops and the crazy bass line) but the drums def hit differently than one would expect. But it's still an amazing beat, regardless. Also, the MCs were all just outstanding. ODB just destroys it.
I make mad noise like a metallica record.
This is possibly my favorite old school hip hop song of all time. DJ Premier, if you're reading this, thank you for doing these videos i hope you keep doing em. I loved the song before i knew the history behind it, and knowing the history behind it gives the future listens so much more depth
Classic posse cut straight Fyah another Preemo Classic. The great part of these episodes is Preemo’s back story breaking down everyone who was involved. Another Classic episode 🔥🔥🔥
Premier doing the voice of ODB is priceless.
" And let's just make one more thing understood
That if I fart on a record, trust me nigga it'll sound good "
That line by Big Daddy always had me crackin'up. lol
My favorite hip hop producer of all time
the list of up and coming rappers Kane had preform live or on record with him is insane.
Loved that Premier gave Blahzay Blahzay their flowers.
i still listen to that song about once a week at work
yo Premier we need more of these! i could watch this shit all day! 😎👍
Peace to Larry Smith
Ps Gratitude for sharing.
Preemo! I love how you get into detail in these videos!
You even showed us Scoob and Scrap and their dance moves
Much respect to you and shout out to Easy Mo Bee the legend!
Fact: this is the first song sauce money and jay z appear on together
Thank you Preemo! So grateful and appreciative of this series and everything you do and have done for the culture.
I Bought that On & On remix on cassette back in the early 90's. had the original on it as well. DOPE
Yessir, LG!! Clinton Hill, Bed-Stuy, my old hood!! 🙌🏾
The 90s coming full circle and Preem's the goat...let me clear my throat: SALUTE👑🙏
Another B-Side banger !!! Classic
This is one of the best posse cuts of all time!
Wow never knew u made this track preem!!!

Yo Premo, looking forward to you breaking down "Shyheim On & On". Till this day one of my favourite hip-hop song. Such deep lyrics from such a young Shyheim alongside those killer beats by you :).
Such an underrated artist/song
Man I love Shyheim.
Yes, yes, yes! This has been my top request for a long time! Thanks, Preem!
I love Preemo..... He gives some things but not all of the secret sauce. Keeps it mechanical. He's the man
Biting!!! Yooo!! They need to hear that😊
This series is so 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Classic track !
I was waiting for this one for soooo long !
Blessings 🙏🏿✊🏿🔥
DJ PREMIER 🤩🤙👍👍👍
ODB turned it tf out. He had the best verse.
DJ Premier has the voice of a Jazz legend... but, instead, he is the one of the major voices of Hip Hop...
SO DOPE!!
Love hearing all the history and cultural references behind these tracks. I'm from the UK and was obsessed with hip-hop growing up, but I feel like I listened on an almost superficial way if you know what I mean. Hearing these stories puts a lot of the jigsaw pieces into place.
Salute Preme. I see you King slimming down💪💯.
I STILL LOVE 💕 YOU AND ALL YOU DO! DOOO!!🙏🏿
Dam that was one hell of of a track.!!!
Still of all on the track BDK just made my jaw drop. His voice, my gosh! Legendary man
Yeah! Finally ♥️ Thanks for story :D
Us vinyl DJ's that enjoyed this as a secret weapon of theirs: "......god damnit Preem "
Love the History !!!!!! 💯💯💯 RIP GURU
Only just discovered your channel! Gonna love catching up on your content. Love your style
I'm breaking rap groups up like EPMD.....etc.
Big Daddy Kane is one of the most sampled artists of all time.

That’s wassup! Another one from the golden chronicles
Show and Prove was slept one posse cut, verses by Jay Z,late ODB,Sauce Money was insane and all spitting lyrics
I remember the 12”. What a banger! Wasn’t that the first time Jay-Z appeared on a track? Can’t wait to watch the episode!
That was not the first time Jay appeared on a track..... Jay was out in 1989, this was 1994.
Jay already appeared on a number of songs by his man Big Jaz O by this point.
Hawaiian Sofie was jay z’s first track. 1988
NAH, the FIRST appearance of Jay-Z was on a dude HP (High Potent) on a song called H.P. Gets Busy in 86 ruclips.net/video/Mt1KxZBpU5c/видео.html&ab_channel=BobSeger1981
Yeah Jay was on alot of stuff before this... early 90's with Jaz-O then with the group Original Flavor.
Scoob came out with Heatmakerz during the Dipset Era as Johnny Famous. Made some ill tracks "BKNY" with M.O.P. and "Problem"
💯💯💯
0:07 great video very dope 🔥🔥🔥🔥🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧🔥🔥🔥🔥🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The best dj and producer of real hip hop
Wow!
