Eiht always had connections on the East it seems like. I saw him in the Wutang Can it all be so simple video …and that was crazy because they didn’t do it like that back then
Met eiht back in 99 when he was promoting his hoo bangin debut. Really cool guy! We come strapped is one of the best west coast albums of all time. Geah
Shout out to the living legend Premier for taking time to recognize the groundbreaking CMW on his platform and how Hip-hop artist supported one another on the way up in the early years. RIP to the wordsmith Guru🙏🏿
Man i was so into mc eiht as a kid growin up in LA in the 90s listenin to rap. When which way iz west dropped i lost my mind. Had no idea he was working on an album, and found it out of nowhere, looked up when it came out and I was shocked to see it was only about a week old. Such a dope album. All songs were bangers. Never seen an old school rapper come back so strong, and still make music that feels like it came out in the early 90s. I completely lost my mind to see all the artists he collaborated with in the album. And seeing DJ preemos name on the tracks sealed the deal as best rap album of the 2010s for me. Also so cool to see him doing tracks with the outlawz, WC, B-Real, kurupt, and others
Ever since this dropped I've gone back and put CMW back into the playlist. As dope as NWA, Ice Cube, Snoop are, and I'm 46, I've heard it all from the west. I've definitely played more CMW/MC EIHT than anything. Much respect
Music To Driveby, dope album bro! Same with Straight Checkn 'Em! All the Rapper's Eiht shout out's at the end of Music to Driveby are OG's! "Gang Starr, Naughty by Nature, Too $hort, Breed, Cube, Lynch Mob, Scarface, YoYo, 2 Pac" and "the new n*gga snoopy snoop dog" haha! So Dope
He explained every detail/background/tertiary fact behind the making of this track except for the major detail that this was a DJ Quik diss and played a huge part in their beef. He seemed pretty careful not to mention Quik at all when talking about West coast artists. 🤔 Regardless, this is one of my favorite 12"s I own and I bought it just for the remixes. Salute my GOAT Premier, I hope he keeps posting these.

He mixed Def Wish II and the original Def Wish in the first one that he posted yesterday. He forgot to mention "Music To Driveby" and he said that Def Wish II was a single for "Straight Checkin Em". He corrected himself and posted this a second time. Pointing this out for everyone who's confused
He still didnt mention DJ Ant, who was the original Compton's Most Wanted DJ and member. Not sure how he forgot that. Once cant help but see the only white dude on the album cover of It's A Compton Thang. Also, Music To driveby was the 2nd album on Epic. Straight CheckN Em was the first one on Epic. It's A Compton Thang was on EMI. Which was the major label, Capital-EMI (CEMA). The same major label that distributed Chrysalis, Gang Starr's label, Capital, Hammer's label, and SBK, Vanilla Ice's label.
Premiere great job on the music got Nipsey and DJ Premier. Can't wait to hear part 2 DJ premier and Nipsey. You are soooo smooth. And you know what it is boss.
D@mn, you broke it tf down. But Straight CheckN Em was also on Orpheus/Epic. Also, you forgot to mention Ant, their original DJ. Who was white. Ant couldnt scratch. So DJ Mike Tee replaced Ant. Ant was on the album cover of It's A Compton Thang.

"Which Way Iz West" album by Eiht and some tracks produced by Premo is F'ing Dope!! All CMW and Eiht solo albums are dope! CMW "Still a Menace" album is a banger too!
Can you do Nas’ “I Gave You Power”. That is the song that I really don’t hear any scratches from, which is something that I normally hear in a DJ premier produce track, so I would really like to see how the record got made and what it meant to Nas and DJ Premier.
