"Hard to Earn" came at a crucial time. The soundtrack to my senior year in High School
Same, but it was my 10th grade year because I caught on a year or so late and my friend loaned me the cd and the rest is history.... I played it that whole winter and beyond all the time.

I remember when I was 16 the night before Gangstarr played in Dublin, Ireland in 1994 I was writing out the lyrics to this song so I could memorise the last couple of lines I hadn't boxed off yet ahead of the show. Back then, it seemed like every rap album that dropped was a stone cold classic. Such a fantastic era.

I agree, their darkest and best album IMO, love the feel of this album. I used to put the tape in and turn sides as you said, no FFWD button just all the way through.

Hard to Earn holds a special place in my heart as the album that introduced me to GangStarr. As a 15 year old kid, I thought wow, this sounds like nothing else I've ever heard. And I haven't changed my mind since. Absolute gem of a record.

After Public Enemy & N.W.A. in the end of the 80‘s , Gang Starr were the third Group who became so important to me & my fast growing love for Hip Hop in the early 90‘s. After Step in the Arena. But not even Hip Hop cause i fell in love for all kinds of black music.
As a german punkrock kid there were only the bad brains und some reggae artists before i fell in love with Hip Hop.
Thank‘s to Premo & Guru for that.
