And finally Scotland's Shetland Islands are saying goodbye to the yule with their annual Viking fire festival.
Called "Up Helly Aa" the over 140-year-old festival traditionally takes place from January to March across Shetland's various communities.
And in the region's biggest town of Lerwick on Tuesday a thousand participants called "guizers" dressed in Viking gear and marched in procession to celebrate their Norse heritage.
This year saw women being allowed to participate for the first time after a previous ban was lifted following decades-long efforts to be included.
