Solid video, I put this game on the backburner for quite some time now. However, with the gods expansion releasing I thought id really give it the ole college try again. And I gotta say its way better than i initially thought. This game is definitely a slow burn, but I just hit 50 on my first toon last night, and this video really helped me fine tune my ideas and just taught me a load of new things! Two thumbs up, thanks mate!

1700 aether crystals! I've got 3k hours in the game and I cheer every time my count goes up to 100. Nice to see you back! People allready mentioned the music, yup. Don't know about the experience potions, everybody seems to like them but I have never seen the need for them, bought 50 of them when AoM came out and they are all still sitting in my stash. Especially for new players I wouldn't recommend them because the game scales with your lvl, so new players might get undergeared. To me it's an item for quickleveling experienced players to get to ultimate asap. Just a thought. grtz

Good vid, thanks for pointers. Got the base game on steam sale last week, then the expansions after. Hadnt heard of Grim Dawn before. Never liked the Diablo games, though I'm a big fan of Dungeon Siege 1 and 2. Dual Wield pistols caught my eye. Currently have a level 77 Purifier in Elite Difficulty and just unlocked Ultimate, been a lot of fun. Going to run through Malmouth and Forgotten Gods and gear up a lot before I start Ultimate. Damn this game is addictive.
Sdavid081 it’s super addictive, went death knight for my first character because Kriegs set is one of the only sets that is a monster infrequent so you just have to farm 3 bosses in malmouth to get it Just restarted in hardcore though, so all fresh leveling 3 chars along with each other because this game just loves giving me gear for other classes lol

So you been playing the game a long time?
Having played the game for few thousand hours, i just had to tune in and check if you're speaking the truth. And yeah this is a pretty good summary indeed! You even mentioned some things i was certain would be missing but that are very helpful.
It might have been different when this video was made, but I believe currently gear bought from quartermasters are soul bound. So you can just buy them with your high level and give to other characters.
A big problem, for me even as a D2 veteran, is just the overwhelming amounts of different types of stats. I have no way of knowing how to outweigh gear when it comes to prioritising certain stats. For example: Armor A gives me increased lightning damage and armor I can benefit from but armor B gives me increased lightning damage and resistance. Of course this is a very simplistic example. But how do I know what stats I have to absolutely prioritise? When do I know when some gear is better than others even if they look worse?
Purely curious... how many hours of farming does it take to fully flesh out all the purple goodness in one of your end game builds? I've been attempting a go at your cabalist build from a year ago, 200+ hours running farming runs and I've not seen any of the drops from your grimtools cabalist or deathnight builds. I get there needs to be some farming, but hitting a wall that's gated by waiting for item or blueprint drops gets a bit old after a while.
The death knight items can be farmed directly from specific bosses. As far as the other gear goes I do not know the exact time but I just killed heroics and bosses as quickly as possible in solo play. But I also do group play and sometimes trade with friends for gear.
@@Mikey92186All good. I'm the only one on my Steam list that plays this, so I'm SSF. No biggie. Yeah, I've hit the Krieg armor bosses repeatedly and haven't seen a piece. RNG gonna RNG I suppose.

you can also use the blacksmiths to create legendary items its a small pool of items but with the transmute guy you can convert 1 set piece to another also
I feel like they could have made a much better graphic for the devotion skills. Its pretty frustrating scrolling over 100 different stars trying to see what everything does.
Hi , Mordecai Mike. Love your guides. I have a 100 cabalist Been farming Ultima seems for months and months, but the gear doesn't seem to drop, still using the corruptors set. I cannot kill uber bosses at all changed my build a few time but still at the same point need gear. I simply love running pet builds. Any suggestions at all? thank you for replying.
I meant that early in the game you change your gear like every 15 minutes, so what is the point in upgrading it? This is a question actually, I am a new player and I would like to learn ;)
Another awesome game that I will never play, because it's too damn complicated. I've beaten Diablo 3, beacuase playin as a sorcerer was so damn easy, I was just spaming one spell trought the whole campaing and after and I was invincible. It was boring yes, but quite satysfying. And here you've got all those perks, all those buffs, all those enchants, different skills, trees... how can you experience an awesome plot when you can't get over all this upgrading bullshit ? This is madness.
It really is not that complicated. Honestly POE is way more complex when it comes to skills etc. Grim dawn is just understanding mechanics and stats, once you do it is fun.
Just play the bloody game, start multiple characters and dont take any notice of what this guy says, you will adjust your style as you progress, i dont use 1/4 masters, or the tables unless i desperately need 5000 points. this guy is making a simple game far too complicated.
i watched this whole video and i have know idea what you are talking about half the time, and i am no closer to understanding how to play this game then i was before i watched the video

My only problem with this game is the crazy amount of stats that the items have... The 3 prefix and 3 suffix of Path of Exile is a good number, IMO... Every time i get an item, i have to expend a lot of time trying to figure out if its an improvement or not.. ;/

The difficulty in explaining which builds to use is because of the variety of the gameplay styles and for me this is one of the game's charms.

Yeah, I normally got no problem with background music but it is way too loud with you talking at the same time.

Just random drops, I found most of it in SR. Cleared up to 88 and got lots of loot.
