    I disagree with using veteran, especially for beginners. Grim Dawn has these cap levels for areas (you can see the caps on Grimtools, on the map, zoomin on the respective area by clicking on a rift). Hence, it's extraordinary easy, somewhere in your 60s, to be continuously overleved compared to monsters. And then two things will happen. First, they gonna give less experience, so basically negating the main advantage of veteran. The other thing is that loot stays with the level of the mobs. So you can easily end up entering elite underequipped. These level caps will somehow scale to elite, in a measure, so even worse you can end up roflstomping elite, but then in ultimate is where this cheese ends, because there monsters will always be in your league. And you might very easy end up in a situation where the first boss (the guy who pops from under a tree) you meet will send you packing to revival. Veteran mode is only for veterans of the game itself, who already have banked the items which they want to use, who know various mechanics and where to take liberties with protections and what not. For beginners, I would stay away from veteran just play normal and turn every stone you meet and experience the game as is.

      Yea him saying it's easier to play veteran is just hilarious bc I don't think a game will add a higher difficulty that is easier that the easy or normal difficulty lol makes zero sense.

    For armor absorb, I like to craft "Scaled Hide" component and slap one in chest and one in legs - 98% absorb.
    Do not underestimate armor rating. If you are taking a lot of damage and die a lot, look to increase that, along to cap your resistances.
    If you still die a lot, then probably shouldn't have picked Arcanist as your first mastery. :p

  • @chaoton

    What I wanna add is "some items will harm you"
    Like, if your main damage is physical and you want some sustain thus you embed hollowed fang into your weapon, while it would add % damage converted to health it will also convert 10% of your Physical damage into Vitality damage and lowered your DPS.
    I hope someone learns from my mistake XD

    • @danm2084
      @danm2084 4 года назад +1

      That's something that I should look into. Because wouldnt it work off of your physical still? If you have really high physical, then 10% of your total physical will be vitality instead. Does it convert BEFORE totals are calculated, thus lowering your damage? It confuses me.

    A little tip for newbies - Do not underestimate things that increase your maximum resistances. If you are 80% resistant (The max default resistance) against a particular spell type and you increase it's maximum by something like 3%, then you are taking 15% less damage than you were before (Trust my math on this. It works).

    Veteran's 10% XP bonus isn't worth double the TTK and the negligible extra loot is worthless because you can't get legendaries in normal difficulty. You're better off getting through normal as fast as possible.

    So this wasn't clear because of the values you used; is armour preventing a % of damage or a flat amount? I know the absorption value modifies a % of the armour value. What I want to know is if the *armour* value is a percentage or flat amount. So if we change the physical damage amount in the example to 200, would he be absorbing 25 still, or 50 (25% of 200)? Thanks!

    Playing in veteran is not faster. Doing easier content is the fastest way to reach level 50 which is the point where legendary items start to drop. After that you go elite steps of torment farming for efficiency.

    • @noahnolight1044

    • @turntsnaco824
      @turntsnaco824 4 года назад +1

      I mean, I guess it wouldn't be faster if you actually struggle on Veteran. But if you know how to invest your skill points and gear up, especially using premium gear and components from other characters, you can blast through Veteran and you get the 10% extra experience to boot. Sure, you actually have to _try_ on Veteran, so I guess if you dont want to have to invest any thought or consideration into how you're playing, Normal will feel like a smoother ride. But if you are willing to make the effort, Veteran definitely has the potential to pay off more.
      And like he said, there's more monsters on Veteran which just translates into more experience, especially when you are taking out groups in seconds anyway, its not like the extra monsters are impeding your progress....they are literally just being added to your xp bar.

    • @FotisNorscan
      @FotisNorscan 4 года назад +4

      @@turntsnaco824 After you lvl up your 2nd, 3rd or tenth character you don't wanna spend time in normal/veteran. You get no legendary items in veteran so the extra time you need to reach level 50 (legendaries) is wasted. It's all about efficiency and how fast you can reach lvl 85-94 items. Normal/veteran are just a tutorial that prepares you for harder content, even elite is easy. The game starts at ultimate so the faster you get there the better (mythical legendraries lvl 94) so you can complete your build and do endgame content . But feel free to enjoy the game the way you prefer.

    "beginner info"
    This vid is full of stuff you can't do until hours in if you survive that far. Your second tip was talking to multiple vendors?? Multiple blacksmiths? Using the crucible? Dude none of this is helpful. I'm stuck at level 20 and don't understand why my sustain is terrible. The armor absorption is the only semi helpful thing and even then that's glaringly obvious. Resistance tip was ok. But you didn't really help at all understanding any of the classes, what we should know about picking skills or passives, when we should and shouldn't be using crafting materials. I want to like this game, but there's a massive curve from say Diablo or Path of Exile. Hopefully I can find a helpful video, because these were NOT beginner tips. More like beginner endgame tips
