@@icantalktrash I'm not sure I understand what you mean by this. Lucy's vault was clearly once surrounded by a building, which has since fallen to rubble. And the only other vault in the show has a secret entrance.
It will be better and here's why: actors are comfortable with the material and characters. The hard work with practical sets and props is already done, allowing fine tuning of things they probably passed up in S1 for time sake. The budget will probably get pumped due to the success of S1.
Unfortunately the last couple of episodes were absolute dog water..... what happened? The beginning 5 episodes were fantastic and then it turned to shit. That ending was so stupid
Yeah, they should always use as much real as they can and then use vfx to fill in the gaps. LOTR looked amazing because of this, and then The Hobbit looked so cheesy and weird because of over use
Knew there was a lot done behind the scenes but didn't think it was this insane and time consuming. Really makes you appreciate all the work everyone behind the cameras do
All the practical and visual effects in this show had so much love and passion put into them. As someone who's never played the games, and since this show was my first exposure to the world of Fallout, I immediately fell in love with the premise, moral conflicts, lore/worldbuilding of the franchise. Everyone truly brought their A-game to this fantastic show. Can't wait for Season 2
How poetic is it that Christopher Nolan makes a movie about the birth of the Atom Bomb and Jonathan Nolan, his brother, makes a TV series after the world has been destroyed by nuclear weapons.
the fact that "Bethesda Blue" is what a color is being described as is an insanely cool detail i noticed at 8:04. Must feel good for the artists to have a color named after the studio they work in.
Just goes to show that the whole crew can make or break a show. Props to everyone who worked on the fallout show. You can tell that everyone was invested and passionate about their own role and part.
THIS is how you do a faithful adaptation of a beloved video game franchise and bring it to the screen as a cohesive narrative. It perfectly captures the tone, feel, and horror/humor that the end of the world in Fallout is. Excellent cast, excellent writing, excellent music, editing, photography, etc. There isn't really a way they could have improved on it. Now on to Season 2.
3:09 "(...) if corporations controlled the world and planned every aspect of the world that we lived in, what would the real purpose of everything be?" I love hearing this on Amazon's streaming service lmfao
THIS is what video adaptations needed. The amount of detail and love shows why this show did so well. I hope this sets a standard for video game adaptations
I worked with Johnny Pemberton who plays Thaddeus in the show (on another movie shot in Florida with Robert Patrick from T2) and Johnny told me how impressive the sets were on the show, the production design was incredible. As someone who works in the art department and a fan of the games, this show was perfect!
@bajscast he told me about it and how it was built/rigged (several people did the physical action of moving it and such) obviously it was wet in there from the throw-up gag they did, but probably alot of rubber resin and synthetic stuff that had been painted and detailed for weeks to give it that organic living creature look to it. He just kept saying how shooting that scene and being on that job was unlike any other...he spoke fondly of the craftsmanship of the physical Gulper rig and prop/mechanism. At the time of him telling me the show wasn't out yet, he told me everything he was allowed haha, he was really cool about it. I've been trying to connect with someone on the design team to get on the show as a set dresser but obviously that's a tough thing...still trying, it'd be a dream to work on that show. People have their criticisms and all, some I can see, but again, I love it. I think it's lightning in a bottle.
I love seeing behind the scenes videos/photos for things that I'm a fan of. I really wanted to see some more of how this programme was made, so I'm really glad that this was uploaded!
I knew that a lot of this was practical props/sets, but this shows that it was WAY more than I thought it was. great job by all! This makes me want to rewatch it now.
Built sets, actual locations, in-camera effects, the costumes, the prosthetics, the props (and even a bit of The Volume) all coming together to create movie magic. This show was a breath of fresh air
Havnt felt captivated by a show the same way since The Expanse & probably havnt talked about how cool a character (the ghoul) is since I was a teen lol Kudos to the whole team for inviting us into this world & giving such high quality as they did. Im so excited to see where it takes us!
I'm so ready for season 2... please don't take forever on it.... this show was great... watched it many times so far... Cooper Howard aka the Ghoul bka Walton Goggins was awesome...
I saw an earlier interview with the showrunners and they said most things based on existing property involves lists of things that have to be signed off because the owners of the property want it even if it doesn't necessarily work for the show. They said Todd Howard just told them to do what they wanted and ask him if they needed anything. They said the freedom it gave them made them really want the show to be as good as possible. It just shows that hiring the right people and giving them carte blanche can really work out well. Of course if those people created Westworld you can kind of expect them to hit it out of the park.
First season blew me away. The practical effects and CG combined really worked. The actors and actresses absolutely sold it. I truly hope Season 2 has all this same love, time and effort put into it.
ive been a die hard fallout fan since i was a kid playing 3 for the first time and to see the care and attention to detail to make this show the masterpiece it is almost makes me emotional, thank you.
Can we have this extended, like, for 4 hours or something? You can clearly tell this was a passion project for the team, and the final product shows it big time.
Thanks for this behind the scenes. Congrats to everyone involved for knocking it out of the park and earning those Emmy nods. Can’t wait to see what you guys do for season 2. Much love.
The crew really knocked it out of the park. Everything just looks so good and really helps sell the fantastic casts performances. Good use of the volume too.
When the power armor walked out on stage at the Game Awards in December, my boyfriend thought it was a projection at first, it was that good. That alone had us tentatively hopeful the series would be good. It was actually phenomenal. We enjoyed it even more than The Last of Us (coincidentally it won the Best Adaptation presented by the cast at the Game Awards with the power armor lol), which was another amazing, faithful adaptation of a game. Excited for season 2 of Fallout! Also the Ghoul was, of course, our favourite. Walton is incredible.
You guys all did an AMAZING job on this. Truly. As a Fallout fan, I was like a kid in a candy shop and could tell you all felt the same way. Passion for the source material + really hard work to get it right. Count me in for season 2!!!!
This is one of the first series I've seen where I've just wanted to be a part of. Granted, I've been playin the games since 3 but man the amount of effort put into this game is on another level that's just so cool

I believe that we can appreciate both Todd's strenghts and his weaknesses. His strenght, as shown here, is that he's passionate and really loves the property, but his weaknesses mean that he often doesn't understand the practical side of creation and overpromises on things. That makes him a great idea guy and promoter, but a bad project manager who's unreliable when it comes to sticking to the facts of what something is instead of what it *could be*.
Nuance is not particularly popular on the internet. People like to 100% hate something and 100% love something instead, with nothing inbetween, because it's easier and doesn't require much thinking.
I still can't believe this show happened and is so good and was so well recieved. I've been playing since fallout 2 and Bethesda has been a good friend of mine for years.. Oblivion etc, and Todd is still on site for the work. And yes, he was in the chess club.

I thought you're talking about the scene in the dark room, putting a bullet in his gun. I think you might be right! Deleted or a scene we haven't seen before! We've not seen him in his cowboy outfit from prewar, as a ghoul. And the frills on the end of the collar piece are all burnt up!
@@WackyEncapsulatedFruitCup The cowboy costume is all he ever wears as a ghoul. It's not immediately obvious because he usually has the leather waistcoat and duster covering it, but if you watch the show again you'll notice the blue shirt with the scorpion collar, the scorpion belt, and the same striped trousers. It's the same white hat, it's just dirty. He's kept that whole outfit since the bombs dropped.
The amount of props and special effects used reminds me of “the thing” which has almost No cgi at all and is still one of the best and biggest horror moves (1982 not 2011)
The production was truly impeccable. A lot of talent and big budget obviously but they had the results to show for it. Looking forward to next season, keep up the good work!
