He's so good at what he does that you basically take him for granted as he supplies support for the main actors. I'm glad he's finally been cast in a role where he gets to shine. His Fallout character steals the show when he's on screen. Props to him. Glad he's finally been given the opportunity to really showcase his talent.

Question (3:49), “Is Wasteland in the Fallout universe?“ I‘m pretty sure the question is referring to game Wasteland rather than the wasteland which is referred to in the Fallout universe. The game Wasteland partially inspired the devs to create the original Fallout game and is not a part of the Fallout universe in itself.

3:47 Wasteland (Capital W) refers to the rpg series of games, the first of which came out in the 1980s and was a precursor to Fallout's post-apocalyptic setting, The two series share several common tropes (desert rangers, mutants, etc) but they do not share a universe.

@@youngnat I've heard good things about that show, and I think it was moreso that the show runners wanted to let the actors explore their own personification of the characters based on the materials and direction rather than try to create a carbon copy of a video game character. As well written as the last of us is, there's certain things that simply wouldn't translate well to a show or movie, since there is no active player in these mediums but instead a passive audience. Compare this to the Halo series, where both the actors and show runners intentionally avoided learning anything about the games or the larger setting. It led to versions of these iconic characters that are nothing like their video game counterparts, ex: the Keyes, Master Chief, the Arbiter, Cortana, Halsey. It all comes down to the competency of the show runners to balance what's good for bringing the setting to a show format, and staying true to the setting as a whole.

Especially since fallout doesn’t have characters to adapt for TV, just the setting and the storytelling. The most worrying thing is that they don’t have to give fans what they want for it to be a good fallout TV show.

I don't necessarily think he was saying they have a 5 year contract, more of just a random number, maybe just what he hopes they'll go for. But they don't even know if there's gonna be a season 2. So I doubt they have a 5 year contract.

Usually contracts are terms set for 4 seasons. They renegotiate at the 5th season for tv productions so it makes sense why he would mention that

I think what they meant with the question "Is Wasteland in the Fallout Universe?" is if the Game "WASTELAND" (the not only spiritual predecessor to the Fallout games) is actually playing in the Fallout universe... To which I have to say: Sadly not. Storyline is completely different, setting is completely different and the nuclear war that ended civilisation as we know it took place in 1998. And for the record: GET THEM A SECOND SEASON AMAZON! THEY ARE BRILLIANT AND WE NEED MORE!

I read somewhere that Fallout DID start as a Wasteland game, but they ended up doing their own thing. Similar to how Warcraft/Starcraft were supposed to be Warhammer games originally.

@@teglesifer you are correct, fallout was intended to be a wasteland Game but interplay, the original creators of the fallout franchise failed to obtain the rights to wasteland. Also there are plenty of wasteland references in the franchise.
