is that the B58 whine i'm hearing? has anyone ever managed to figure out what it is, because even bmw can't explain it. They ended up changing the turbo on mine under warranty, and it made 0 difference lol. I've just comes to terms with it and accepted its part of the car after 5 years.

Could be the transmission but it’s probably just stiffer diff mounts causing the diff whine to be more pronounced and audible.

Its a characteristic of zf box when hot i think

This car has billet mounts for the diff/subframe so there is a LOT more noise than stock, we also have a Stage2+ M240i with some Powerflex mounts and it whines through the gears slightly.

It’s the ZF8 box - just whines when hot like the OP said above

Solid billet differential and subframe mounts, gearbox/diff noise that you hear :)
