I think the most clear indication that this took them by surpise was that they spent the whole newsletter explaining the situation and didn't even plug the summer sales.

i was quite annoyed at the delays, i did leave some comments on the DCS discord. now, after learning how they make modules and how difficult DCS is to develop. i now understand that things are a lot more difficult for devs. hoping for a smoother future for DCS world!
Cant wait for the Ed/razbam situation to get resolved. I would love to get the F15E. And have it, together with the F15C, to have a healthy future :)

I think you are commenting on what alot of us want to see although I am not hopeful that this will be resolved. I don't play the F 15 anymore because It has an uncertain future. I loved flying it since its inception. I have switched to the F-16 in the meantime.
When ED had stable and Beta, complaints came when beta was breaking things, majority of servers were beta versions.
ED retired the beta for a single version, now complaints that doesn't update fast enough. Honestly i am sick and tired of the "community " and the complaints. ED does what ED needs to do, and they hear is shit postings from the... community
I got attacked on various threads for stating the same thing you just said. Glad to see some others also share the same view as me.
Whatever ED does or tries to do, it's always wrong or not good enough.

As for the delay, I am cool with it. I would rather a delay then have a broken product released. It does seem ED is in a tough spot. People complain about the delays, or complain when the updates break stuff. I myself prefer the former.
I am hopeful the ED/ Razbam situation gets resolved. The way I see it no one wins when stuff like this happens. And I am happy to hear the F-15e radar fix is in the works.
@@christophermcsherry2655 so I don’t know what all you’re most excited for in the update, but personally, I’m really just waiting for Afghanistan. at this point we know the maps releasing early access anyways. unless it’s crashing on launch/literally unplayable, I’m fine with it not being perfect, given that’s what I’ve/we’ve been expecting the whole time.
@@Captain_Yogurt Same here. Afghanistan is what I am waiting for. Being newer to DCS (less than 2 years), there is plenty to keep me unoccupied.

Glad ED is attempting to fix the F-15E the best they can. Of course it sucks that it has gotten to the point where it’s one update away from breaking again, but hopefully this whole fiasco is resolved soon for everyone sake.
Thanks for the video! I think it's great they're explaining the delay in a little more detail. Tbh. I think the F-15E fix should have been a hotfix a soon as they had a fix ready. I hope they will start doing some minor bug fix releases between the major updates.

I think that’s bogus. Here’s why. I know a guy, who knows a girl, who’s uncle flys a Stuka in MiG Alley who thinks he knows the guy who does the stuff with the source code for Rocket League who told the milkman that the HiP explosives locker was left unsecured and Petrovich got into the plastic explosives and blasting caps……AGAIN……and took out ED’s testing server! It HAS to be true! Such RELIABLE sources CAN’T be wrong!😉🤣

Also, im no programmer, but still in the game biz (3d artist). And those stopper bugs does sound like a nasty issue. Hopefully they can build a more smooth workflow or pipelines. So there is a buffer between release and fixing things.
I guess this might be the cause of getting rid of the beta version. Perhaps ED is still figuring out how to smoothen the publishing pipelines after getting rid of the public beta.

In a constructive way I think the only problem with delays is ED announces a launch date when they have not checked 100% the product is finished and working well. ED is pushing itself for a release date when there is no need for that. They could even update once per year and that would be ok, without pressure. So when they actually had the update finished and 100% tested, that moment would be perfect for announcing an update. I would be doing that if I were in their skin.
I can wait as long as it gets to release perfectly working Afghanistan map and CH-47...ED take your time!
I really appreciate how ED informed the community about the reasons of the delay. I think this is a really important point to give explanations to the community why things are delayed. That being said, I really thank ED for explaining the reasons of the delay and hope, they will do this also in the future 😊

This is exactly why ED shouldn't have done away with the Bata and stable platforms.
My boss gave me an assignment. I told him it would be completed in 4 weeks. Four weeks later, i told him it wasn't ready and I needed another week. A week later - on the day it was due- I told him it wasn't ready and I needed one more day. The next day when he came looking for it, I told him "Yeah...about that...I don't know when it will be ready". He was upset and frustrated but i reminded him that he has no right to be upset since my projects are ALWAYS delayed and late...so he should expect it.
Actually, in the software development world, this is not unusual. Software is complex. Unforseen things happen. It is really as simple as that. As a software developer with 20 years experience, I can state categorically that the scenario you describe here is what software development companies always fight against, but also what software development companies experience ALL the time. In fact it is a sign of a good QA process that these bugs are found before release, instead of by customers.

I'm sorry, but lots of us deal in unseen or unplanned issues in projects; and i get that changing one thing in software can affect a dozen others. That's why if you think you need 4 weeks, you give yourself 6 weeks. Need 3 months? give yourself 4 months. That way, you aren't doing "final tests" the DAY OF RELEASE. Customers aren't concerned with how long it will take you...they just want it when you say you will have it.
But...regardless, it is reasonable for customers to be frustrated with constant, repeated delays and I don't see how "Well, we are always late" is an excuse. Personally, i don't really care about the delays and agree that a lot of the reactions are absurd...but its not unreasonable to be frustrated that EVERY major release/modules/patch is ALWAYS delayed multiple times.
I got booted multiple times for pulling that off. And when I said I'd need 4 weeks in the first place, I realisticly expected to be done with it in two or less. It sucks to only get @$$hole jerk bosses that don't know $#!+... but at some point I gave up on the whole thing for health reasons. Always felt completely abused. Kudos to anyone who somehow manages to not get completely destroyed by that industry.
@mikeck4609 this is all to create hype while they announce a new product. ED promise and promise and in between they release a new product. People rush in to buy in the hope the core game will be better in the future. ED gets the money, Nicky G buys a new plane, and then they never solve their huge technical debt. Those who are seeing this are getting fed up with ED, with reason.
I hope I don’t sound completely negative but I’ve already grown tired of the delays that ED has to do. A simple fix would be to do all testing and ensure no major bugs exist. Then, announce a date for the update and then leave it alone until it’s pushed out. Then start the process over. But they apparently wait till the day of release to complete testing, I’m no software developer but that seems to be a huge mistake.

I had a 4 day weekend over the holiday and was thinking “yes! New update and all the time to explore it to the max!” Every day I booted up DCS and was expecting to see the update is available screen. I was so bummed! I still enjoy the hell out of DCS regardless but it would have been perfect

Great video, and thank you for the positivity around the entire situation. There seem to be a lot of negative-speakers about the F-15E and etc... but you present things in a calm, let-it-be manner that tells us it's none of our business and we should be patient. This kind of thinking is how you make the world a better place.
Also, I saw a tiny lip of the F4U Corsair! Did I miss an announcement about that??? Is it finally being released as well, or is that merely the fevered dream of a mad-man???
It’s nobody’s business? You mean the same nobody’s that are about to lose out on hundreds of dollars worth dlc and ED won’t give a crap about them? and the fact they’ve not payed developers in the past. All the negativity comes from ED.

Never able to understand the entitlements of some DCS users, literally expect Rome in a day every time anything is announced. Have you paid for a specific release date on an update or a new module? No! So pipe down and wait, it will be ready when it is ready.
Anyone know why it said the F-15E was unathorized for me when I boot up the game, and the same goes with the F-4E, idk whats causin the problem. I tried reinstalling it didnt do shit.
I had the same issue, it was my anti virus. I had to add the dcs folder and the F15E.dll (in the mods folder)to the list of exceptions. I then deleted the F15E folder and reinstalled and that seemed to fix it. Hope that helps.
@@zakfarrugia2482 Just to be clear, if you delete the F-15E folder and reinstall the game or the F-15E, it will put the folder back in DCS right? I just don't want to risk losing an aircraft (Edit: I would also like to add that this is on STEAM)
@@zakfarrugia2482 So I was able to fix it, it was the anti virus, it was set on auto and had to mess with it and reinstall the DLC on steam and now it works, thank you very much, I can now enjoy flying and blowing stuff up.

I think ED should just not give a release date, then the expectation isn't there. Those of us who've been around some years have come to understand that "we'll get it when we get it". I also feel like the only thing ED did wrong here was not pump out a fix it patch for the SE; there is a mod for it and there are other unofficial fixes out so.....?? The other fixes available tell me it could very easily be done, and I have seen mid cycle patches for things like missing AI voiceovers on a Mossie single player mission, and so it is again with the AI actions in a campaign most people probably aren't flying. Surely the SE not having a radar has way more impact on how the users of that plane in the community view ED and their stance on customer care?

The problem lies in ED's marketing strategy: creating hype. They always do the same: promise a lot of new features, promise fixes to long known problems, they write that they are working in an eagerly waited features, and in between, they announce a new product. Hype created, people rush in to buy in early access in the hopes that the game will be better in the future. Rinse and repeat. And then never deliver the long promised things they said they would. Only creating hype and more technical debt, that it seems, will never be solved.
So true, they just lie, remember the 2020 news letter we have nothing from it and it’s 2024 all they do is create hype and take peoples money. and somehow people still fall for the hype 😂

Wdym? people are just tired of ED and their bs. Players have been waiting in atc for 10 years since they said they’re working on it 😂 and their community managers literally create conflict by being rude to people or banning them, timing them out. There’s a whole list of core things from 2020 they said that were coming or almost done and we have seen none of it.

I consider every opinion important, some are far fetched, some valid, some come from personal frustrations with the game/sim, some with ED or other companies. I always say: its the internet, the place where everyone gets to openly share their views. Now don't get me wrong, there are plenty of issues within DCS, but I personally still enjoy it, fly and have a lot of fun. Usually the ones that have a good time despite the issues, tend not to share their experience, leaving more space for the troubled ones. I always expect constructive criticism that helps. Everything else its just noise and has no place, no validation and can stay there in the shadows with the clear haters and people who really have nothing better to do. Thats it!
@@hipgames I think you are spot on with that assesment! I generally have a really fantastic time with DCS. I’m not at anywhere near the level of depth that some people are at in order to even consider beginning to gripe about certain things, and I love to get nerdy about this stuff haha.

I dont care about excuses - I bought the F-4 and I'd like to have those updates (which are already finished by Heatblur) to continue my efforts on the new module...
ED should simply finish one topic and then start the next one. Selling new models isn't all - quality should be priority, just my opinion

ED doesn’t develop every single module, the F4’s development is handled by heat blur so if you’re getting impatient point your anger to the right company HB.

The Phantom has finally been released. Where is the release of the Eurofighter now? It has been said in the Trailer that the Phantom will come first and then the Eurofighter. How many more maps and modules are there in between? Kola Map, Afghanistan, Kiowa, CH-47, new launcher, and so on. how many more. frustrating 😝, where is the promised Eurofighter or is the project dead now? Greetings

@@Hockey-su7bdYou have to be patient for the Eurofighter because it’s not coming anytime soon. Now that HeatBlur finished the development of the F-4, they will most certainly focus on the Eurofighter. But we will have to wait between 1.5 - 2 years minimum for it to come.
