I have a black 2019 STI and a 2004 STI in Java Black Pearl. I owned a 2012 STI prior to both of those cars and I never had any issues out of them. The biggest issues with these cars are the people that own them. These cars are heavily destroyed and neglected and abused. They are not for lazy people either. This guy's a lot like most Subaru enthusiasts. He loves them so much that he takes care of them the way they're supposed to be taken care of and knows how they work inside and out. And because of that, he has no issues out of them. You just have to know what you're doing. My family owns Automotive business as well. Anytime these come into the shop they are always low on oil and heavily modified and a lot of times when I see them the coolant in the car is extremely old as well. I could not afford it then but yesterday I just purchased a 2019 STI grey addition. It’s still early on the West Coast but in about an hour I’m gonna call this guy and see what it takes to have one of these vehicles built. Thanks for bringing this Subaru content another great video.
I love how much this guy loves STIs. I completely get it. I've had 2 and I want to have 20. I love our community. Saw a blue STI on the highway pull up and I floored it and he chased. We were smiling ear to ear and he gave me a big thumbs up after our fun was over. I wave to every wrx and they wave back. It's the best. I would love to meet this guy and do some tail of the dragon with him and his friends. What a video. Thanks!
I run a 2020 STI with a PT6870 and it really it an amazing turbo for the EJ. It hits full boost around 4500 and pulls hard all the way out past 9K. I think it really surprises the hell out of anyone who rides in it. Generally run it around 36psi which is 760whp and 48psi hit 909/731, really a torque monster for a 4 cylinder.
@@Nottodayjr It has way more to do with the turbo efficiency and turbine housing restrictions than the engine itself. It actually only picked up about 20whp from 43psi to 48psi. Doesn't really have anything to do with the flow through the engine. You could put this same Precision 6870 1.05AR T3 V-band turbocharger on pretty much any engine with a similar fuel setup, full exhaust and see the similar power results at the same boost pressure. I'm not say the EJ25 with long rod rotating assembly, fully ported heads, over sized valves, and 4.5L plenum intake manifold is the best flowing engine every produced but its not a crappy flowing engine like your comment says. Example, I've seen a very similar engine build without all the head work and intake manifold make almost 100 more whp through the entire RPM range by using a 7270 turbo with the same 1.05 turbine housing. His boost curve matched mine spot on but had more CFM on the compressor side. Or take the 2JZ with a PT 6870 and look at its power numbers through the boost curve and you'll see it's not so much the engines flow that limits power per psi but the turbocharger selection.
@@PleadTheFifth_Racing the 6870 is what, a 1100hp turbo? No need to try and defend the un defendable. The Subaru flat 4 is extremely underwhelming bro.
