Excellent video, I have a 2018 F150 sync 3 with the 4" screen and I'm installing the 12.1 autotech unit. I was a little nervous moving the circuit boards from the old to the new because I have 2 additional circuit boards that control the buttons on either side of the little screen. I disconnected the ribbon connector and only use the circuit boards for the heating controls and volume/tune controls. I hope this is ok? Also I have a question I am hooking up a amp/sub so I assume I will connect the pre-amp output cables to the red/white rca outputs? Also for the amp remote line turn on wire I'm used to a blue wire, I see on the camera harness there is a ccd-12v do you think I should use this? When I get it connected I guess I could see if the power to the ccd-12v shuts off with the engine and it turn shut the newly installed amp as well. I can't wait to get this hooked up and get one of the wallpapers as well.
Your video is 6 months old? What are your thoughts on this system now? Would you get it again? Do you need to install the cellular connectors and sim card connections? Im assuming you left the usb input hanging in the glovebox for access. Is the new gps attenna needed if you use Ford's navigation? Im assuming with the wireless carplay/android auto that it would use the gps from your cellphone? Great video. Sorry about all the questions. Thinking about doing this with my 2018 Lariat.
@@dstadt71 yes I would get it again. Love mine. You don’t have to use any cellular data/connections. I just use my phones hotspot if I want to stream. The new GPS antenna is not needed if using the ford sync. Ya if using CarPlay that’s using phones gps. Hey no worries let me know if you have any other questions!

@@tonydee4381generally when you purchase from the seller they will ask you to take a picture of your dash and will send accordingly. I don’t believe you can add sync 3 to your current vehicle if that’s what you’re asking.
2011 F150 owner here. Still have factory radio w/o navigation screen. Im pretty much sold on purchasing this. My sync module crapped out and ford wanted 1200 to repair it, which is why im looking at this. I shouldnt have a problem using all the functions right?
@KyleFranks-r5u ive had to reset it a few times mostly because I leave the truck running and if it turns itself off something happens with e radio where it has trouble connecting and had trouble with a few apps like tubi and Pluto tv where they won't play but Amazon prime youtube paramount and some side loaded apps with movies all work
it's still good ,sometimes I have to reset it when I leave the truck on and it turns off after a while something happens where it has trouble connecting to Bluetooth and wifi,I just reset it and it goes back to normal,a few apps like tubi and Pluto tv won't load but other than that it's been great ive side loaded a few apps with movies that work great.
Thank you for this video. Helped alot when installing my new screen today. Reverse camera still isnt working yet but I will try the reset button next. I have noticed that when listening to music or videos, the sound only comes out of the passenger side speaker. I tried using the equalizer for balance too. Still nothing. Am I missing something?
@f1fiftyjimmy I checked the connections again in the back of the unit and the sound now comes out of all the speakers. But I still can't get the rear camera to work. Factory settings is on VGA. I've reset the unit multiple times now. Even disconnected my negative post on the battery. I have a sync 2 module. I followed your video closely with where to plug in everything. Only thing I can think of is there is a plug in the wrong location. I got it from Ali express and there wasn't any instructions or wiring diagrams of what goes where. Any ideas?

I've been hearing some rattling towards the bottom where I'm not snug I don't think. Did you remove anything from the bottom or unscrew the base beneath the screen?

After the initial installation, did you notice any stretched images when in reverse? My 2019 Raptor strangely displayed elongated video images of backup and poor (like 360P) bird' s-eye view, so I returned the first purchase a few months ago. I recently ordered another 14.4" from a different vendor in the hope of having a better result! I will try your video setting!!!

I have the settings set as you do and they still do not work., In your video at 19:28, you have an AUX cable. DO I need to connect anything to the ports on it for my Sync 3 system/cameras to work?
No nothing needs connected to that. I just plug it in so its back there. Are you on android 13? The only thing I noticed when I installed the android 13 display was I had everything set correctly and the backup camera didn't start to work until I started the truck. I'm assuming you have already started it and threw it in reverse? if so might need to hit the reset button on the front of the screen or possibly reseat the connections. I believe that comes with it too that you didn’t hook up as we wouldn’t need that my unit coming in a couple days appreciate the info and thanks again.
Ya I didn’t hook that up. If you’re using wireless CarPlay then you’ll be utilizing the mic on the front lower left of screen. If you’re using sync with a phone call you utilize oem mic.

So I would definitely hook up the gps, but if I didn't plan on hooking up it's own data plan, I could leave the sim card reader unplugged I assume. Also, what are the 4g lte antennas for? is that also for it you decide to add your own data plan to it?
4G antennas are for when you ad a SIM card. I’ll probably never used a sim so installing the antennas were pointless. I actually have the T-mobile obd2 WiFi adapter or you can just run off your phones hotspot.
Hello Jim, I am reaching out to inquire about the backup camera issue. Specifically, I would like to know if there is a way to change the reverse function of the backup camera. My camera is reversed or flipped EE
If resetting the display by just clicking that small button on the front of the screen doesn’t resolve it. My next steps would be a hard reset or unplugging connections and plugging back in. Haven’t heard of anyone’s reverse camera doing this.
Can you turn it on through Ford pass on your cell phone and also see the location or after change the screen on are these functions no longer available?
Finally getting around to adding wallpaper images. I downloaded the gallery app from the play store but how’d you get the images to the app from an iPhone?
It seems a bit laggier than the Autotec ones ive seen on youtube. I feel like its exactly the same thing but is yours laggy? It just seems responsively laggy. Also does your front camera show when you use the camera button? I saw a few people say on forums that they lost functionality in their front cameras after putting in this unit.
I don’t think mine is laggy, I’m a pretty techy person and if it was laggy I would get rid of it. Ya when I press my camera button it shows the front camera on mine.
I just got mine installed everything works ! But I’m having a little fit ment issue at the very bottom it’s not flush the new piece hangs off just a little bit and I think that’s making me AC dials also a little loose and wobbly. Do you have this problem? Or idea what would be the fix ?
Hey, just watched your video to install mine, good work. While in console mode (factory) audio sounds perfectly normal, but when I switch over to wireless CarPlay, audio can only be heard from the right speakers, and weak at that. Tried resetting everything, disconnecting and reconnecting Bluetooth and CarPlay connections, no change. Any ideas? Thanks.
@@mazz1557 there’s a DSP app where you can adjust left to right but I doubt that’s it. Usually when someone has issues with sound i tell them reboot and possibly hard reset or reseating connections, i have heard of someone reseating a couple times and that got them going.

I am however a bit disappointed with the inability to listen to the radio while in wireless CarPlay. I was hoping there was a basic Radio function dedicated to the device, but it doesn't seem to work.
How do you know what plugs into the two gold 4g spots? I got two of them not labeled and not sure to plug into the top one or the bottom. Our system is slightly different. Yours are side by side

How does the new screen generate sound for the truck sound system ? Does it have a DAC in it ? What is the connection to the Ford sound system ? Does it do AM and FM ? Does the truck have an amplifier or does the screen have an amplifier ? The screen has built in WiFi... does your truck have WiFi for it to connect to ? Does it share your phone's WiFi via CarPlay ? Or do you have to make your phone a HotSpot ? Thanks for sharing this !
Not sure on the DAC. It does do AM/FM since you keep your sync module and it fully functions like oem. It comes a with a SIM card adapter and you can either get a data plan on a sim card or use your phone as a hotspot.

Hello, did got the unit installed based on your video, everything works fine except the sound for carplay or playback videos, follow the instructions on installing a USB with a song to activated but no luck, sound does come out but really low and lots of distortion, any ideas on what it is, thanks for the help.
It seems to boot up a lot faster then my Linkswell that I just bought. I hate latency so I might return the likswell and purchase this but I have to learn more about it
I installed the same into a 2021 Ford Expedition, but I am having cross-feed through the stock microphone and the built-in mic on the screen. How did you disable the stock mic? Mine came with an external mic that I could use and there is a harness and spot in the back for it to plug into. I may do that, but wanted to get your suggestion first. Did you unpair your phone from the stock radio?
I never installed the external mic and never adjusted any mic settings. That built in mic in the lower left of the screen worked good and everyone said I sounded good on it. I also always left my radio unpaired from the sync app and just let the wireless carplay pair the phone.
Question: Helpful seeing the options you covered on AliExpress.. and on that, one listing differed which unit to buy if you have Sync 2, 3, etc. The one you purchased seems like it didn’t offer variation. I have a ‘15 Lariat Sync 2 before the S3 upgrade from Ford and I have the Sony upgraded audio with Sub etc.. Assuming I transfer my S2 unit all shows up on the new screen in the end when I hit “Console” like my factory …. Is the particular unit you purchased compatible with S2 and S3? Tutorial was really well done. Liked and Subscribed !
Ya I’ve noticed some ads will differentiate sync 1,2 and 3 and others don’t. When you do purchase from them they will message you for your model and will also ask for a picture of your dash so they send the correct one. Also if those mofo’s message you and tell you they need more money because of the one you need it’s bs tell them your not paying it or you will just cancel the order. Happened to me and several others.

@@mazz1557 If you're using the sync app you will utilize factory microphone and antenna, but if your using the android side of things you will want the antenna.
Jim, just finish installing it. The rear and 360 view vid still appears grainy than the OEM and I have no audio when playing spotify but works with standard radio???? Any idea what is causing the audio issue???
@@MrFive11 I mean I always thought it was decent quality. It is however larger now on the new screen so it will be stretched some and the new screen is a 2k screen but they downscale to 1920 for the sync app and camera app. To me I thought the camera wasn't better but just shown larger/wider.
Yes it should. Once you purchase from the Aliexpress seller they will ask for a picture of your dash and make sure they send you the correct kit. There's a link in my description for the display. That seller communicates quickly and gets the product out to you usually within 7 days.
Do you retain the feature where when you auto start the air will come on depending on the temp outside? Like if it’s cold the heater comes on. Got the ac comes on. I can’t lose that which is why I’ve never bought one of these cause most reasons like this you lose that function.
ya it does. My heated steering wheel would still come on. All factory sync functions are retained. You can still use the ford pass app and lock/start your truck.
So a few questions: 1- If the truck has a front camera, does that work with this out of the box? 2- If the truck doesn't have a front camera, can you add one and will it work like stock? 3- Can you set it up to automatically open into the original F150/Carplay interface and just bypass all the android stuff?
So being as i have a '17 raptor with sync 3.. (i dont like using android auto) will i be able to use the sync app just as i did before such as comnecting my phone to bluetooth and using it through that sync app?
Hey man. I installed one of the 14.4” screens. Reaching out for some help. I’m having a song skipping issue. When using CarPlay and skipping the song (using steering wheel) it switches over to sync or some sort of radio static and then comes back to the song. If you skip the song on the radio or phone itself it doesn’t change over to any radio static. If I use the Spotify app on the actual radio itself the steering wheel controls won’t even change the song at all. On the Spotify app on CarPlay it will skip the song but it will still play the radio static in the background for that second and then switch. So it’s some sort of issue with the steering wheel control still wanting to run the sync radio or some sort of radio static when hitting skip on the steering wheel. Any idea?
That's just normal. It's because steering wheel controls are meant for sync and its trying to override that. I do feel like I don't hear it really being on android 13. Are you on android 11? I haven't used Spotify outside of carplay.
@@f1fiftyjimmy I’m on android 13, but I think the volume of it plays at the volume of whatever I have the radio at. It’s more annoying just because every once in a while, it will actually find a station and then some radio advertisement or whatever blast at me for like a second and then it picks back up on the CarPlay lol

Unfortunately I bought this and I followed you and another install video and the updated android 13 version already has the camera video set to VGA but none of my raptor cameras work. I tried unplugging and plugging back in every cable and all I get is "Cameras not operating. Contact the dealership"
So far its good, no lag or anything. As of right now I am pretty happy with it. Really like that its android based so i can customize it and change it up.
I've had mine 5 months now and it will randomly just change inputs on its own. I will be listening to a station on sirius xm and it will just change. Any ideas how to fix this? I have contacted the manufacturer and was sent updates to download, but it still happens.
@@f1fiftyjimmy yes. It will switch from sirius to like AM radio or FM. Sometimes the whole screen changes to some flower picture with no sound. It's real annoying
I’ve heard of some reseating their connections 2-3 times and 3 time it worked. If it saved the camera as vga and you try to do the reseating with no luck. Next step would be a hard reset.
I ordered the same screen Oct 24, (today is Nov. 2) still waiting for the screen to arrive, the only con with Ali all communication is done through their chat messaging and they have difficulties understanding English. When they don't understand the question you're asking they reply "Don't understand what you saying". This could be a bit frustrating, because no matter how you rephrase the question their response is the same. Wish they had a phone number where we can call and ask questions regarding the order. But for the cost of the unit and savings you have to take the negative with the positive. Pretty much try and be patient and just wait for the order to arrive! UPDATE on screen arrival....The screen arrived 11/06....when I placed the order on 10/24 I received notice the same day item is being shipped with a tracking number. not counting the 24th, it took 13 days to arrived in Dallas Texas. By the way, make sure you're home when the package arrives it requires a signature. Tracking is a bit difficult, you get one international tracking number. Once it arrives in the Untied States you can't track the shipment because it moves to another vendor (UPS), and you will not be given an updated tracking number. It would be nice if UPS or the seller gives you the UPS tracking number so you can make sure you're available to sign for the package.
This specific one doesn’t but I do think there are ones made for the 2014. When I had my 2013 I did the sync 3 swap and that alone was a superb upgrade from the sync 2.
Mine is usually within 30 seconds. I'm sure you have tried to reboot screen. Outside of trying a different device you could hard reset the screen. Are you on android 13?
@ I reset it, does come on faster (timed 45 seconds) but after a couple days without reset takes a minute or two. Or have to turn off and on Bluetooth. Just feels a little slower than it should be. Maybe I’m just impatient. Is there software updates that release that may fix this type of thing. The other strange part is my Bluetooth / music connects instantaneously. Like the music will start for 2 seconds right when I turn on the car, then it pauses for a minute or two until the CarPlay fully connects
So switching to vga didn’t work? I gotta ask the obvious but if you did switch it, did you make sure to hit save? If so did you reseat connections? If you hit the camera button does front camera show?

Hi. My unit arrived this weekend. Im excited. Question: Could the boot up image be replaced with a bootup video?
Seems to me, that you should be able to tie-into the factory USB-Hub below-vs-a loose wire flopping around in the glovebox.
All of the factory stuff still runs thru the SYNC module. The extra stuff is only for the Android side.

Sounds like you need to reseat the bigger connections.

What about my vehicle Hotspot. Can I keep the functionality of Hotspot, or do I lose it?
You will still have it, but it won’t work on the Android side of things. I have a t-mobile obd2 hotspot plugged in for mine.

No I don’t believe you can use the factory WiFi as a hotspot. I know some guys are running the obd2 WiFi hotspot from T-Mobile

So I would definitely hook up the gps, but if I didn't plan on hooking up it's own data plan, I could leave the sim card reader unplugged I assume. Also, what are the 4g lte antennas for? is that also for it you decide to add your own data plan to it?
4G antennas are for when you ad a SIM card. I’ll probably never used a sim so installing the antennas were pointless. I actually have the T-mobile obd2 WiFi adapter or you can just run off your phones hotspot.

If resetting the display by just clicking that small button on the front of the screen doesn’t resolve it. My next steps would be a hard reset or unplugging connections and plugging back in. Haven’t heard of anyone’s reverse camera doing this.
Can you turn it on through Ford pass on your cell phone and also see the location or after change the screen on are these functions no longer available?

Finally getting around to adding wallpaper images. I downloaded the gallery app from the play store but how’d you get the images to the app from an iPhone?

It seems a bit laggier than the Autotec ones ive seen on youtube. I feel like its exactly the same thing but is yours laggy? It just seems responsively laggy. Also does your front camera show when you use the camera button? I saw a few people say on forums that they lost functionality in their front cameras after putting in this unit.
I don’t think mine is laggy, I’m a pretty techy person and if it was laggy I would get rid of it. Ya when I press my camera button it shows the front camera on mine.
I just got mine in for my 2017 Raptor. Is it necessary to hook up the gps along with the factory gps?
I just got mine installed everything works ! But I’m having a little fit ment issue at the very bottom it’s not flush the new piece hangs off just a little bit and I think that’s making me AC dials also a little loose and wobbly. Do you have this problem? Or idea what would be the fix ?
Hey, just watched your video to install mine, good work. While in console mode (factory) audio sounds perfectly normal, but when I switch over to wireless CarPlay, audio can only be heard from the right speakers, and weak at that.
Tried resetting everything, disconnecting and reconnecting Bluetooth and CarPlay connections, no change.
Any ideas?

@@mazz1557 there’s a DSP app where you can adjust left to right but I doubt that’s it. Usually when someone has issues with sound i tell them reboot and possibly hard reset or reseating connections, i have heard of someone reseating a couple times and that got them going.

How do you know what plugs into the two gold 4g spots? I got two of them not labeled and not sure to plug into the top one or the bottom. Our system is slightly different. Yours are side by side
For mine it just came with two 4g antenna's. One you run to the driver side of truck and the other you run to the passenger side.
Bought your wallpapers. Like them. F in ford is cutoff do you have an idea of what I can do to fix it? Seems like tablet is adjusting aspect ratio or something.

How does the new screen generate sound for the truck sound system ? Does it have a DAC in it ? What is the connection to the Ford sound system ? Does it do AM and FM ? Does the truck have an amplifier or does the screen have an amplifier ?
The screen has built in WiFi... does your truck have WiFi for it to connect to ? Does it share your phone's WiFi via CarPlay ? Or do you have to make your phone a HotSpot ?

Not sure on the DAC. It does do AM/FM since you keep your sync module and it fully functions like oem. It comes a with a SIM card adapter and you can either get a data plan on a sim card or use your phone as a hotspot.

I’ll give it a try and see but I don’t think it does pretty sure it’s all wireless.

Hello, did got the unit installed based on your video, everything works fine except the sound for carplay or playback videos, follow the instructions on installing a USB with a song to activated but no luck, sound does come out but really low and lots of distortion, any ideas on what it is, thanks for the help.
Usually if you are having issues might have to recheck all your plugs and reseat them.

The adapter harness it comes with that has multiple plugs is where the canbus will be connected.

Yes I would recommend it. If there’s ever lag it’s minuscule. It’s the best big display for the money.

I installed the same into a 2021 Ford Expedition, but I am having cross-feed through the stock microphone and the built-in mic on the screen. How did you disable the stock mic? Mine came with an external mic that I could use and there is a harness and spot in the back for it to plug into. I may do that, but wanted to get your suggestion first. Did you unpair your phone from the stock radio?
I never installed the external mic and never adjusted any mic settings. That built in mic in the lower left of the screen worked good and everyone said I sounded good on it. I also always left my radio unpaired from the sync app and just let the wireless carplay pair the phone.

Yes. It has RCA plugs in the back of the unit.
Question: Helpful seeing the options you covered on AliExpress.. and on that, one listing differed which unit to buy if you have Sync 2, 3, etc. The one you purchased seems like it didn’t offer variation. I have a ‘15 Lariat Sync 2 before the S3 upgrade from Ford and I have the Sony upgraded audio with Sub etc.. Assuming I transfer my S2 unit all shows up on the new screen in the end when I hit “Console” like my factory …. Is the particular unit you purchased compatible with S2 and S3?

Ya I’ve noticed some ads will differentiate sync 1,2 and 3 and others don’t. When you do purchase from them they will message you for your model and will also ask for a picture of your dash so they send the correct one. Also if those mofo’s message you and tell you they need more money because of the one you need it’s bs tell them your not paying it or you will just cancel the order. Happened to me and several others.

I would reseat your connections. Pretty sure they would fix the Spotify issue and close the Spotify app on your phone and do a reboot
It is set VGA. So is your unit same image quality as OEM? I see large # of compliant over grainy vid on F150forum!
@@MrFive11 I mean I always thought it was decent quality. It is however larger now on the new screen so it will be stretched some and the new screen is a 2k screen but they downscale to 1920 for the sync app and camera app. To me I thought the camera wasn't better but just shown larger/wider.

Yes it should. Once you purchase from the Aliexpress seller they will ask for a picture of your dash and make sure they send you the correct kit. There's a link in my description for the display. That seller communicates quickly and gets the product out to you usually within 7 days.
Do you retain the feature where when you auto start the air will come on depending on the temp outside? Like if it’s cold the heater comes on. Got the ac comes on. I can’t lose that which is why I’ve never bought one of these cause most reasons like this you lose that function.
ya it does. My heated steering wheel would still come on. All factory sync functions are retained. You can still use the ford pass app and lock/start your truck.
So a few questions:
1- If the truck has a front camera, does that work with this out of the box?
2- If the truck doesn't have a front camera, can you add one and will it work like stock?
3- Can you set it up to automatically open into the original F150/Carplay interface and just bypass all the android stuff?

Yep you can still connect it via Bluetooth through the sync app. CarPlay won’t work wired, it’s wireless full time if you decide to use it.
How come the listing says it fits 15-22 F150's? Thats 3 different dash designs from Ford

Hey man. I installed one of the 14.4” screens. Reaching out for some help.
I’m having a song skipping issue. When using CarPlay and skipping the song (using steering wheel) it switches over to sync or some sort of radio static and then comes back to the song. If you skip the song on the radio or phone itself it doesn’t change over to any radio static.
If I use the Spotify app on the actual radio itself the steering wheel controls won’t even change the song at all.
On the Spotify app on CarPlay it will skip the song but it will still play the radio static in the background for that second and then switch.
So it’s some sort of issue with the steering wheel control still wanting to run the sync radio or some sort of radio static when hitting skip on the steering wheel.
Any idea?
That's just normal. It's because steering wheel controls are meant for sync and its trying to override that. I do feel like I don't hear it really being on android 13. Are you on android 11? I haven't used Spotify outside of carplay.
@@f1fiftyjimmy I’m on android 13, but I think the volume of it plays at the volume of whatever I have the radio at. It’s more annoying just because every once in a while, it will actually find a station and then some radio advertisement or whatever blast at me for like a second and then it picks back up on the CarPlay lol

Unfortunately I bought this and I followed you and another install video and the updated android 13 version already has the camera video set to VGA but none of my raptor cameras work. I tried unplugging and plugging back in every cable and all I get is "Cameras not operating. Contact the dealership"

So far its good, no lag or anything. As of right now I am pretty happy with it. Really like that its android based so i can customize it and change it up.

I've had mine 5 months now and it will randomly just change inputs on its own. I will be listening to a station on sirius xm and it will just change. Any ideas how to fix this? I have contacted the manufacturer and was sent updates to download, but it still happens.
I’m assuming when you’re listening to Sirius it’s through the console app? Is that the only thing that changes is to another station?
@@f1fiftyjimmy yes. It will switch from sirius to like AM radio or FM. Sometimes the whole screen changes to some flower picture with no sound. It's real annoying

I'm pretty sure it works for Superduty, the cabs are the same. Sometimes the listings will say at the bottom that it works on F250 and F350

Reseat connections. I’ve heard it took someone a 3rd time reseating and that fixed their issue. If not try a factory data reset. Let me know

I’ve heard of some reseating their connections 2-3 times and 3 time it worked. If it saved the camera as vga and you try to do the reseating with no luck. Next step would be a hard reset.

I ordered the same screen Oct 24, (today is Nov. 2) still waiting for the screen to arrive, the only con with Ali all communication is done through their chat messaging and they have difficulties understanding English. When they don't understand the question you're asking they reply "Don't understand what you saying". This could be a bit frustrating, because no matter how you rephrase the question their response is the same. Wish they had a phone number where we can call and ask questions regarding the order. But for the cost of the unit and savings you have to take the negative with the positive. Pretty much try and be patient and just wait for the order to arrive! UPDATE on screen arrival....The screen arrived 11/06....when I placed the order on 10/24 I received notice the same day item is being shipped with a tracking number. not counting the 24th, it took 13 days to arrived in Dallas Texas. By the way, make sure you're home when the package arrives it requires a signature. Tracking is a bit difficult, you get one international tracking number. Once it arrives in the Untied States you can't track the shipment because it moves to another vendor (UPS), and you will not be given an updated tracking number. It would be nice if UPS or the seller gives you the UPS tracking number so you can make sure you're available to sign for the package.
Does it fit a 2014 gen 1 raptor ?
This specific one doesn’t but I do think there are ones made for the 2014. When I had my 2013 I did the sync 3 swap and that alone was a superb upgrade from the sync 2.

My ZLink takes forever to connect to CarPlay. Always a minute or two stuck on “connecting please wait.” Anyone else?
Mine is usually within 30 seconds. I'm sure you have tried to reboot screen. Outside of trying a different device you could hard reset the screen. Are you on android 13?
@ I reset it, does come on faster (timed 45 seconds) but after a couple days without reset takes a minute or two. Or have to turn off and on Bluetooth. Just feels a little slower than it should be. Maybe I’m just impatient. Is there software updates that release that may fix this type of thing.
The other strange part is my Bluetooth / music connects instantaneously. Like the music will start for 2 seconds right when I turn on the car, then it pauses for a minute or two until the CarPlay fully connects

So switching to vga didn’t work? I gotta ask the obvious but if you did switch it, did you make sure to hit save? If so did you reseat connections? If you hit the camera button does front camera show?
