    @felooosailing957 10 дней назад

    Ned Stark lacked political power? He was the leader of the Great House of the North. He was instrumental in getting the alliance of the rebels with House Tully. He put down the loyalists in the Rebellion when Robert couldn't continue, including seminal prowess as being sent to Kings' Landing, to lift the siege on Storm's End, and also winning the battle of the Tower of Joy. He held the heir of the Iron Islands hostage. Arguably, Ned was politically the most powerful lord in Westeros after Robert Baratheon at the beginning of the series, as there is a vacancy for Hand after Jon Arryn's death. (And then he becomes Hand immediately, of course). True: some might say that Tywin has more political power, as Cersei is Queen. But his influence is limited with Robert as king, even with the money that he lends the Crown, when you compare it to Ned. And some would say that people such as Varys or Littlefinger are objectively more powerful, but the reason they lurk in the shadows is that they do not have that much actual political power vested in them, so they rely in their acumen. That is crucial for understanding the story: Ned is such a powerful, influential man that his death causes two independentist rebellions, one from his son, and one around the rebels he put down, and is the main pretext under which people dare join either of the Baratheon brothers. Had there been no beheading, there might have been no all out War of the Five Kings, with all this also causes for both the Dany and Jon storylines.

    I’d take 100 northerners over 10000 men of anywhere else in Westeros

    South: Huzaaa, I am a knight because of my great deeds and family name, you should be one to! North: Sry BOY! I kneel TO NO ONE!

    I’m not a healer main, but what if they make some of the spec tree talents that modify your basic healing spells also increase the mana it’s spending? Then it’s less straightforward if the stronger healing is worth it

    A lot of the knights of westeros gain their title from their skill and swordplay. Very few are battle-tested or have seen combat.

    The North holds the southern knights in contempt for that exact reason. They are political pawns. Living trophies for the heads of Houses to strut around like a prized rooster.
    The Northerners breed true warriors. Knights are trained in combat from birth but so are all the soldiers of the North. The real difference is the men of the North actually fight quite a bit while the Southern Knights just stand around looking pretty while the average rank and file soldiers do all the fighting for them. The only exceptions were Jaime and Ser Barristan.

    This reason is dumb as hell why not just make them something from eastern European history equivalent to knights like huscals or druzhina seems lazy imo
