I’m never gonna knock on the actors but in the books Renly is often described as “Robert come again.” Caitlyn, says this the most that I can think of but it’s reiterated by multiple characters. A massive black bearded warrior, shorter than Robert but still with the bearing of a king. All of Robert’s looks, and even more charm. What he lacked in combat prowess he made up for in cunning. He would’ve been the best king for Westeros. But! I still believe in the young wolf.

I’d go as far as to say Barristan Selmy is a villain. He has undying loyalty. That’s nice. He served and protected an insane tyrant and then served the king who revolted against that tyrant. Jamie is the only honorable one. He killed the evil king and saved everyone, instead of blindly following an oath. This begs the question if Selmy was in Jamie’s position, does he kill Aerys to keep his slavish devotion to the vow?

I sometimes forget how many story lines are still flourishing in the book… no wonder GRRM can’t finish.
