    Later on Ned taught Robb this valuable lesson while Robb and Jon were growing up.
    Much of Robb Stark’s brilliance is duo to the seasoned warriors and generals surrounding him(Roose, Jon Umber, Blackfish), but also his natural talent for warfare and his father’s good mind for strategy.

    • @Ruosteinenknight
      @Ruosteinenknight 5 дней назад +4

      In this way, he sought to avoid mistakes of his big brother and father, Brandon Stark and Rickard Stark. Their "Wolf-like" nature didn't exactly do them any favors.

    As great of a fighter Robert was, it would be interesting to see how a fight between him and another top-tier fighter like Barristan would have played out. The only clue I remember is when Barristan thinks to himself how he would have cut down Robert if he had seen him smile at the corpses of the 2 Targaryen children that Tywin presented to Robert as "A show of his loyalty".
    "Prince Rhaegar had two children," Ser Barristan told him. "Rhaenys was a little girl, Aegon a babe in arms. When Tywin Lannister took King's Landing, his men killed both of them. He served the bloody bodies up in crimson cloaks, a gift for the new king." And what did Robert say when he saw them? Did he smile? Barristan Selmy had been badly wounded on the Trident, so he had been spared the sight of Lord Tywin's gift, but oft he wondered. If I had seen him smile over the red ruins of Rhaegar's children, no army on this earth could have stopped me from killing him. "I will not suffer the murder of children. Accept that, or I'll have no part of this." -ADWD, The Kingbreaker

      while i think baristan would win. It wouldnt be as easy as he seems to think. Robert is
      1) Is as tall as the Hound
      2) Carries a war hammer that it takes 3 grown men to lift. He carries that in IN ONE HAND and wields a shield in the other
      3) He is a lot faster than he looks
      4) Is way cleverer at combat than you would think
      All it would take is one hit. There is no blocking a blow from Robert. infact it would be easy to loose that trying to parry a blow from robert only to get back handed by a shield bobby b is no joke.

      To further the first responses point. They had fought having met in battle at The Trident. Robert was the reason Barristan was recovering. Barristan was too wounded for travel. Robert while also wounded still was spry enough to take on Rhaeger and go to King's Landing.

      Theon Greyjoy was a case of 'ability over appearance'. Book Theon actually is as handsome (and well endowed) as he thinks, show Theon, not so much. Alfie Allen's performance was great, so him not matching the physical description isn't a big deal, especially since he had one of the only satisfying character arcs of the later seasons. Still, they did a good job casting a Euron that has the show's established Greyjoy looks, unfortunately the writers just wasted the character, reducing the most terrifying living thing in Westeros to the "finger in the bum" clown that got kill-stealed by a brick in his pathetic life's only achievement.

    So are we going to ignore the fact that Rhaeghar had to make do with a quickly-assembled army (the royal army had been routed at Stone Sept), which was in no real dhape to stop the rebels? Sure, Robert was a demon of a fighter, but still...

      He had roughly the same amount of men as the rebels. However, Robert's men were battle hardened and experienced from fighting battles left and right and had A-tier commanders like the blackfish, Jon Arryn, Hoster Tully and Robert himself, while Rhaegar's men were as green as grass.
