  • The final battle in the dance of the dragons was about to unfold, in the scale of the dance it would be seen as quite small. But the impact it will leave would change the seven kingdoms of westeros forever. As the riverlands arm moved south down the king's road to capture kings landing from King Aegon ii Lord Baratheon marched up the king's road to meet them. In a battle that would come to be known as the muddy mess.
The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on George R R Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series. The information in this video comes from the books a world of ice and fire as well as fire and blood.

Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen was trapped on Dragonstone by her brother King Aegon ii with no way to escape her fate. What was to come was the final showdown between the two main players of the dance of the dragons and bring the war into its final phase. The House of the dragon was crumbling and the events that was about to follow would only cause more damage to both sides of the war.

Quite symbolic that the first battle of the Dance was an aerial duel between two dragons, and the final battle was a conventional battle between armies of men. A perfect representation of how the age of dragons had come to an end. And for an additional level of symbolism, there were no actual Targaryens in this battle, just bannermen fighting in their name, symbolizing where the true power now lay.

The Dance was almost a cold war in the beginning because it was so dangerous to put an army on the field just for dragons to burn them. The dragons dying really allowed more traditional battles in the final days of the war

The one Tully I truly respect is Brynden 'Blackfish' Tully. His brother Hoster, though, was a major pr*ck. Why do I respect the Blackfish? He speaks his mind, gives helpful advice, is more competent, and is not afraid to put his idiot nephew in his place. The Riverland armies performed overall very well in the Dance of Dragon Civil War winning many impressive victories such as the Battle of the Kingsroad, Battle By The Lakeshore(Fishfeed),etc. A lot of these times the Riverlands had either little outside support(Winter Wolves) or none. Also there use of unorthodox tactics is another great aspect of them. House Frey, House Balckwood, House Tully(later on) really stood out.

I like the strategies but I hate the inconsistencies with army sizes throughout this war and other wars in Westeros. This is Westeros at the height of its power and population yet the Stormlands are only bringing 8k when in the books Renly and Stannis have some 30k. The complete unite strength of the westerlands should not have gotten crushed after one battle in the books Tywin has some 50k+ some sell swords. I’d expect atleast 40k since Jason and Tyland seem competent and are really invested in the war. The Vale should have like 5k mounted knights + 35k peasant levies thundering down. Cregan Stark who has literally spent 2 fucking years amassing levies can only bring 8-20k men? That’s literally the same amount Robb Stark brought in 3 months that is literally terrible. If he’s bringing even old men that expect to die the lowest amount should be 40k. The only plausible number is the riverlands armies since they’ve been getting decimated since the start of the war but I feel like if I was critical I could bring up some gripes with them too.

Armies in the tens of thousands are expected in militaries with strong and structured logistics, like the empires of antiquity. Wars and battles, even in the late middle ages, would rarely involve so many men as you suggest, the supply lines would have been a nightmare, and marching so many men to battle would probably strip cities and castles of their much needed garrisons. Ol' fatty George has always screwd up with numbers and recruitment in the warfare of his world, especially with naval warfare and what a "levy" actually entails, but at least on this battle I could actually imagine an alternate 'Agincourt', from numbers to tactics. Just my two cents.

@@luizandrade6900 The problem with your assessment is that Westeros ain’t europe. It’s much bigger roughly the size of South America so there should be an increase in army size to reflect that which makes sense. Thats assuming he lives past the Sea Snake's coup. Even then the black armies outside of his walls would still have laid siege and deposed him as King and possibly send him north to join the Night's Watch. A regency council would then be able to have control over the last known living Targaryen at the time which was Jaehaera Targaryen. Even so Viserys was still alive across the Narrow sea and by 134 AC he was returned to King's Landing so he would just take Jaehaera's place. Its possible the young Lads might have called it quits but the Northern army is a different story. Lord Cregan seemed deadset on keeping his oath to Rhaenyra and the bulk of his army consisted of men who came south with a purpose to die in battle. Hell Cregan was even prepared to lay siege to the green strongholds of Storm's End, Oldtown and Casterly Rock even after Aegon II kicked the bucket.

Early in the war, he claimed the Dornish rebels encroached on his lands. He sent his army south to the Red Mountains to fight them instead of going north to fight the blacks. He didn't lead his army into the war until he took Kings Landing after Rheanyra was already dead.
