Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY , we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. It was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎
Can we just appreciate the fact that they showed us the temperature in celsius. how many AMERICAN RUclipsrs do you know that do that. * cries happy European tears *
*Cries in Oceania*
cries in Australian tears
...and Canadian tears.
If it's not 0º in the Europian Vlogs I watch... I have no clue how cold or hot it is... You'd think we would have fixed this by now LOL
Happy everywhere else in the world tears
Dude, that grey water tank would have EASILY FIT- you just need to find a welder that can weld the support bars so it will not go anywhere! It WILL WORK!
Yep
Definitely
What about road clearance
The tank is made of plastic and hung down below the frame rails by at least 4 inches. One trip down a gravel road on a cold day and you would never have to worry about emptying it again!
@@JoshTC2 It looked like the new tank was a few inches deeper, which would mean he would lose a few inches underneath, but considering this is a van and not an all-terrain vehicle, 4 inches I do not see as a problem as long as they used a welder to properly have it strapped uptight.
When you guys are on your way to Hawaii, hit me up! I’m a full time vanlifer on Maui and I can show you all the best spots! (And trust me, for van life, Maui is by far THE BEST island) 🤙🤙🤙
Can you do this my dreammmmmmm Hawaii is my dream.
And I wanta live in Hawaii!
I truly hope you see this comment; look invest in your business by investing in your Van. Your Van is the vehicle for your business right now at this stage. Take it in and get it professionally done. They can move the electrical to the bottom they can put in your bed THAT you KNOW you want and they can professionally get the tanks all correct. You have to have them correct for balance. So you are not spending money, you are investing in your business.
And while they are at it - they should get an incinerator-toilet!!!!
This right here. These aren't big issues in the grand scheme of things when you have 2M followers.
Perhaps they would do that except for $$$$$ it would cost. Unless they can find a company who will do it for free advertising.
@@marenhumblebee2736 Is that a real thing?
I don't know about US taxes but in the UK the improvements you do to your van which would be your primary workplace would also be tax deductable if your self employed... Splash the cash you two and make your lives easier
Kara & Nate: Did you guys hear about the filming in National Parks ruling? You can film in NPs now! Maybe when you visit a state with a NP, perhaps you can add it to the visit bucket list! 🥰
What’s the ruling?
UP UP UP
@@HannahFaber99 federal judge ruled that RUclipsrs are NOT included in that filming rule. It was intended for production crews and people with lots of personnel, cameras, equipment. It’s a WIN for all the awesome RUclipsrs out there!!
Yay
Boost this so they see it!
Ok y’all need a scratch off 50 state map 🗺 to document every state 🙌🏻
That is an amazing idea
When you come to Minnesota, wait until the last weeks of September into the first weeks of October when the colors change and then take the scenic route up the North Shore of Lake Superior (starting just South of Duluth stretching up to Canada). It is the most beautiful area of MN!
We did that the year before last as we took a circle tour around Lake superior. It was so pretty in Minnesota. As you.gain altitude, the trees become.pine and aspen ....not so much color. But still gorgeous views

Yep I find them relaxing, enjoyable and they help my anxiety too.😊
Ok the bed solution is straight genius. Get a cute throw blanket to cover it and toss the topper inside a duvet cover instead of a sheet!
I lived in a van once for a year. I was actually homeless. Doing great now. You couldn’t pay me enough to move back into a van!!
When you visit Michigan, you should go to Mackinac Island, for a trip back in time. There are no motorized vehicles on the island, just horses and carriages, and bikes. You will become very familiar with two odors, horse manure and freshly made fudge. Enjoy!
Bonus: They get to cross the Mackinac Bridge.
@@Fickji Only if they take the ferry from St. Ignace! 😀
Nate trying his absolute hardest to sell Kara on the new mattress is so funny and endearing to me.
9:04 -- Nate: I think it adds stability to the table
Kara, trying not to eviscerate Nate: Yeah
Honestly y’all should just get it professionally done! All the things you want they can do it the best and you will be happy!! ILL WATCH EVERY AD TO HELP PITCH IN!! Invest in your business this van is your business also especially since your doing all 50 states!! Just do it you’ll thank yourselves later!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Not only a business but also their home. I don't understand why they try to save a dollar or have a diy fail rather than just get it done right
@@maddiek4356 Nate is pretty frugal - sometimes so much so that it's to their detriment. I agree about investing for comfort and safety. They've been really lucky with all the electrical and gas issues.
We do upgrades and mods to RVs and have even offered to help them just as a favor but our emails were never responded too (We were especially worried about their electrical stuff last year, some of the stuff was so simple and we could have helped via phone)... oh well..
@@ROAOffRoad KARA AND NATE PLEASE TAKE NOTE IF THIS KIND GESTURE!!
@@ROAOffRoad up!
Go to a pro and get your tanks installed properly, they have what you need to solve your issues. Looking forward to your next video!
Absolutely! Since the electrical mishaps, I keep wondering why Nate and Kara won't seek professionals for installs? It's ok to not be great at everything!
@@beckyinthebubble yeah I don't get it either, it's not like they are new youtubers just starting out on a budget. They can certainly afford it.
@@Liz52482 we don’t know if they can afford it tho.. their money might be going towards retirement or helping family and probably student loans
So excited you guys are doing this!! We have been full-time RVers for 10 years (7 of those with our daughters) and have loved EVERY minute!! We’re still traveling the US. Don’t let anyone tell you not to visit a state. We have had a lot of that and have always gone anyway. We’ve LOVED every state and could actually live in any of them. Just get off the beaten path. Nate, you are so blessed to have such amazing, loving parents.
As a Wisconsin gal I HAVE to state that you MUST do the loop around LAKE MICHIGAN!!! It is epic!! I'm going counterclockwise here- You get a little Milwaukee, Racine, Chicago, all of western Michigan which is glorious! Sand dune rentals, charming "coastal" villages, Sleeping Bear Dunes then you have Mackinaw Bridge and Mackinac Island is like a time capsule with all the horse and buggy's and bicycles, the fort, and the grand Grand Hotel where the movie Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve was filmed! Must see! Preferably in warmer weather though as most the island shuts down for winter. Then you cross over into the UP (Upper Peninsula) of Michigan and the home of the Pasties (pronounced past-ee), and Pictured Rock, Muinising sunken boat tour, smoked Whitefish on crackers! Marquette with "cliff jumping" off the rocks at beautiful Presque Isle Park, Sugarloaf hike and Wetmore Landing, a beach that lets you wade out into Lake Superior for a long ways. Jilbert's Dairy for ice cream! Head down into Wisconsin and you can see to Green Bay the home of the Green Bay Packers and up into quaint Door County with lots of little villages and shops, known for fresh markets and wine. Tourists like to visit Wisconsin Dells and all the trails and waterways, Duck Rides and so forth.Head towards Spring Green and visit the famed House on the Rock or ride the Elroy/Sparta bike trail that has you going through mile long tunnels! There are maps of all the waterfalls or bridges and so on in Wisconsin as it's known as the land of lakes! I live south central in Lake Geneva WI which was a popular getaway for Chicago's elite and famous after the great Chicago fire. Lots of history! Lots of outdoor fun to be had!
As a WI girl also, I second this!
Wow, that sounds amazing. The Great Lakes are definitely on my list. You plan my Wisconsin/Michigan trip and I'll plan your Utah/Wyoming trip.
As a MI gal, I third this statement!!
Don’t forget Houghton (birthplace of professional hockey) the Keweenaw and copper harbor for the best mountain biking in the UP!! Oh and Isle Royale!
taquamenon falls in the upper peninsula in michigan!! and moomers in traverse city, mi!! on top of all of this.
Y’all need to get a scratch off map of the US so you can scratch off every state you visit! I got one for Christmas and LOVE it! Y’all are so inspiring
That’s a great idea!
Thanks
Just create a public web map of the locations with call outs on the stopping points
I’m so happy they are making these videos again. I have always had a fascination with van life, and when they stopped making van videos I was so sad. Thanks you guys!!!!!!!😃😃
I live in PA and I think something cool that not many people can say they’ve experienced is Amish Country just don’t know how’d they’d feel about being filmed
I finished up my 50 state journey with my dad :)! We ran a marathon in all 50 states before I turned 30!!! Not all of them were pretty, but the adventures were SO WORTH IT. I hope you enjoy seeing the country tooooo!!! Edit to add: YES, the 26.2-50 mile kind!! We just love to run :)

Such a wonderful memory to share with your dad! That’s so awesome!
you ran 50 marathons?!? how is that even possible? big respect to you and your dad

@@peggyrambo10 Thank you!!! It was so bittersweet to finish!!!
My only request is please don’t just visit the “big cities” of that state. They are beautiful too, but we all see those on all the videos everywhere on RUclips. I’d love to see you guys hit the small farm towns or lesser known beauties. W

You should stick with "the first seating option" (no table, legs out front of you on the original uncomfortable mattress) and just invest in 2 little tv trays or fold out laptop tables :) Will save so much time and effort!
In that case they could fit another grey-water tank underneath the bed

Y’all! The motorized bed lift is actually a doable thing without splurging! That’s what Ladi and Margaret did on their van, they even have a video on it and it cost them about $140!!!!! I’m definitely doing that for my bed setup 💛
I think the splurging isn’t the main problem it’s the electral stuff in the cabinets that would have to be removed
@@cekiahthornton I figured so as soon as I saw their set up, comment still works to show everyone in van life community reading it that you can achieve this cool feature without breaking the bank. 👍🏽
The van drive to Hawaii will be my most highly anticipated video lol
Hopefully they'll ship it on an ocean liner or cruise ship. 😂 They could still stay in it and meet their goal technically.
They can use the empty water tanks to help float the van across the ocean.
Sounds like a plan. Maybe they'll take us with them. They can attach a rope to a raft. We'll all paddle behind the van. Nobody will notice.
@@NorthCascadeshiker It’s even a good idea to bring the van over water, after all the van is the house they live in while traveling, snd it could bring them around on the islands. 😊

It will end when you decide you've been fooled enough, and bring it to an end. Nice people can never believe how much they've been lied to.

@@salan3507 i’ve lost multiple family members to this pandemic. i’m so happy for you that you’ve been so lucky as to believe that nothing bad is going on. it’s not a lie for me, or for my family who are healthcare workers. i’ve seen so many people that i love struggle so much during this time, and if only it was as easy as ‘deciding it’s ok now’. i’m disgusted that you have such a disregard towards your fellow human beings, who are dying in record numbers every day.
@@jjennyrae I am a healthcare worker!! In a city of about 4 million people...the national guard came in and built an overflow facility at the sports stadium. It was later dismantled without seeing ONE covid patient there! Every year people die of pneumonia, the flu, viruses and the world is not shut down. But yet...since 2020 the main businesses suffering and going bankrupt are small businesses while businesses like Walmart and Amazon are thriving! We are watching the destruction of the middle class while people like you are sleeping. I know asthmatic people, and 90 year olds, and morbidly obese people who have had covid and didn't even need to go to the hospital. What is happening at the hospitals is people put on VENTILATORS without even trying more conservative treatment first. A large majority of those ventilated die! And if you truly work "in the medical field" then you know the hospitals are being highly compensated for every patient put on a ventilator. Follow the money! And now a fast tracked vaccine that many intelligent medical workers are just saying NO WAY to. Good.

Love your videos! Thank you for keeping us entertained during the pandemic and for introducing us to new destinations that are now on our bucket list. For New Jersey, I highly recommend Cape May. It’s a charming Victorian era beach town with beautiful architecture, a lighthouse and great seafood. It’s most enjoyable in the summer but still pretty dreamy any time of year. Safe travels!
Why don't you guys still increase the size of the grey water and toilet tanks, but by a less amount than you intended too. Like maybe 10 gallons instead of 15 for the grey water tank, and 10 or 15 gallons instead of 20 for the toilet tank?!
My thoughts exactly.
Or buy a second pee tank?
yea and nates whole sad sorry for myself vibe and edit was cringe cringe
I thought the same. 5-10 is still a good upgrade and maybe even a 10 for the black water.
Or just have it done professionally? Both tanks could have fit.
As soon as they said they were going to fix the toilet situation, I was like “I hope Nate’s not going to do it himself!” We all know how well that usually works out. 😂
I have another solution for your toilet problem. Buy another bucket part for the toilet. You will have two of those and then can store a full one in a container somewhere on the outside of the van (like an attachment on the back of the van, or a tow, or underneath in some storage.
Hi Kara and Nate, Glad to see that your travels continue! Please don’t forget to discuss at some point your internet issues and how you addressed them. I think a lot of people would appreciate your insight!
Could you get a second removable “pee” tank?
I saw that Kara lifted it out easily, so why not just buy a second removable tank?
You’d have to store a full one till you were able to dump, but then you could be off grid a day or so longer.
Seems easier than trying to put in a bigger tank......
Or...........just pour out the full tank into something like a jerrycan, and store that till you can dump.
Seems like a no brainer!
You can buy the extra pee tanks, they are made by Nature’s head. We have the same toilet at our cabin.
Jesus Christ people, why don't they just pee in the woods FFS? Who pees indoors when camping?

How exciting! What a great way to make the best out of the current situation, can't wait to see!
I had the same problem with my 1967 Holiday Rambler Travel Trailer. Originally, the trailer was not built with a grey water tank. The grey water tanks on the market would not fit in the space that was available under the trailer. So, I ordered a 4x8 sheet of polypropylene, some polypropylene welding rods, a plastic welding kit from Harbor Freight, and fabricated my own grey water tank. While I was at it, I also fabricated a larger fresh water tank. One of the funniest projects I have done and would recommend you give it a shot!
Yea! I was worried you were going to ditch the vans. My only suggestion: Make the updates you need to make it home. Reach out to the Trent & Allie (they went from Alaska to Patagonia) Morton’s, RV Geeks & Mike at RV Adventures for assistance. There is a tremendous knowledge base out there to make the van the home of your dreams rather than a ball & chain you are dragging around the USA.
AND, TO CLOSE, ONE WORD: BEDDIES!!!
Why don’t y’all just turn each side into a Murphy bed that folds from each side onto the table? Then each side folds up onto the wall. The are super simple and cheap to build.
they'd have to move their cabinets
That would close off the windows plus make it difficult to use the table comfortably.
This old lady from Holland will be joining you. God bless and make the most of it.
For Ohio, here are a few!
- The sign museum
- The filed of corn or corn hedge (remarkable)
- Squire castle
- The columbus zoo (rated best zoo in America and for many many very good reasons!)
- Crystal cove
- old mans cave
- Olentangy caverns
- Jungle Jim’s market
There are many things to do, but these are all unique and Covid friendly!!(: curious what time is the year you’ll be in Ohio as well!
Make a visit to America's oldest brewery in Pottsville, PA! Yuengling!
When you hit Michigan, I highly recommend that you get to the Upper Peninsula and see the Soo Locks and Tahquamenon Falls at the very least. Best if done in the fall but anytime is a good time to be in the UP.
I just gave the same recommendation!
Plus you can go to the Headlands International Dark Sky Park on the way up there to get world-famous views of the night sky. I grew up in Michigan, and I honestly think it's the coolest and most unique thing you can do in Michigan.
Snowmobiling around Mackinac Island is also worth consideration.
Can't wait for you to explore Almost Heaven WV!
This is so exciting! Really looking forward to these new videos.
If you’re coming to Chicago, be aware we have an Emergency Travel Order in effect requiring quarantine when you arrive, or a negative COVID test no more than 3 days before you arrive. You can check it out online.
Was coming here to say this! I'd love for them to visit some unique sites here in the city, but with restrictions being what they are in Cook County, it might make more sense to look in other parts of the state.
Rhode Island is small, but there's some really great stuff there! The beaches on the southern half of the state are beautiful, even when it's too cold to swim!
Newport is amazing and has a lol bit of everything from fun tiny shops and excellent food, to an amazing winery and beautiful beaches, never mind the gorgeous mansions.
Can’t wait to see more vlogs! Seriously my favourite channel 🥳 I feel like I’m traveling with you guys haha
I can keep listening to you guys forever ❤️❤️❤️ Love the way you both talk 😘😘😘
When you come to Ohio, be sure to check out the SE part of the state in the Hocking Hills region....I’m only about 20 minutes away and have a driveway that you can power up in and use some amenities before you start wandering the hills, trails, back roads and caves.
Hocking hills state park is really really cool. Not very long hiking trails but they all lead to beautiful caves!
I submitted Hockey Hills and Cedar Point. I'd love a Hocking Hills video more. My husband and I got married there years ago.
You're awesome! So sweet for that offer and suggestions 😊☺
I just got done submitting an idea for them to visit SE OH, including Hocking, Athens and all the surrounding areas. I don’t live in that area anymore... but I’m keeping my fingers crossed they visit the area instead of focusing on bigger cities!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Michigan suggestion:
Come around late June or early July and visit Beulah, Mi. It's up near the pinky of the state and has a lake that's as blue as the Caribbean. Crystal lake is right next to Lake Michigan! The views are BREATHTAKING and I absolutely LOVE going up there every summer 🧡
Provide Whitmere allows IT! 😂🤣😂
I have been wanting them to come see michigan. The UP is beautiful june July and August 🥰😍 I would totally show them around.
Michigan is so underrated! There’s tons to do!
Have to go to the falls in upper Michigan!!
@@micahweiss Coming from a person who has visited Michigan and does not live there, my opinion is Mackinaw Island is the most overrated site in Michigan. I understand some people love it, but we were not impressed. That being said, there are other spots in Michigan we absolutely loved. I would suggest Sleeping Bear Dunes State Park and Silver Lake Dunes where you can rent dune buggies and go out on the dunes.
when in Illinois visit Chicago and just walk around we have tons of cute cafe, the willis (sears) tower gives you amazing views and seeing the bean is always a classic
Seeing a new video posted by Kara and Nate made me SO happy!! I’ve missed you two! Also, going to all 50 states is awesome!!! I can’t wait for all of your videos now!!
