"Layercake Madness" A Beginner Quilt Tutorial (The Remake)

  • This Verbal/Visual Pattern is 100% Beginner Friendly.
    Takes 1 Layercake of 42pc 10" Squares.
If you want borders then it takes 1 yard for border 1 and 1 1/2 yard for border 2.
Top comes out 68" x 76" with the borders 😊
I have made this before. But since I was asked for a quilt for a shop and I needed a beginner friendly pattern, I decided why not renew this video with a somewhat better video quality since the first.

Super clever way to use a LC ! Not one shred of waste, either! The newest thing I learned here ... I have never seen anyone put their border strips together in that fashion. BRILLIANT and faster than fiddling around doing the angled method. I'll have to try it and see if I like the outcome as much as the fiddly way ... FAST to put those 6 strips together like lightning. I always measure through the middle of my quilt and cut my border strips to that length ... yet you just sewed straight down each edge, cut away what was needed for that side, and it still looks flat as a pancake with no ripples! Incredible!

What a FUN, innovative, quick quilt! I love playing with new ways to make fabric work together. Conformity isn’t necessarily my “jam”. I search and search for things that are different, like this and continue to come back to your work. I do tweet things to suit myself, just as you do, since we’re all artists. I’ve got the perfect fabric on its way, it’s a little bit louder than you chose, so I might be wrong, but when it’s done I’ll send you a picture. Thank you, dear one. I’m praying for Gods blessings on you.

I love how you've cut so much time off of putting this together! You must have an engineers mind! Ever-so organized! Thank you.... and your choice of music is soothing not nerve racking....thank you for that also!

Tiffany. You are amazing!! And did I also say you’re a whizz 🎉. I probably have at least 50 layer cakes. You’ve given me another inspiration from this tutorial. Come on over!!

The quilt turned out beautiful. Everytime I have tried to do borders like you showed, they turn out wavy. I was told by my local quilt shop owner and my long arm quilter that I need to measure! I wish I could do it your way!!😁

It's not for everyone. But it's not been an issue so far. I measured a few times and they turned out the same. So I kept with my way. But do what works for you 😊
