I'm still rocking the the A7R3 since I moved into photography/videography professionally and love the camera and agree with all your points. It's the perfect sweet spot for megapixels, with lots of room to crop but also keeps the file sizes down a bit. The only reason I will end up upgrading is now that I am doing more video I would like to have the flexibility of having 10-bit footage but if you have everything set up probably and decent conditions this camera is still amazing for video. Even when I upgrade to likely the A7R5 I'll still be keeping this camera as a backup and second cam. Cool to see you do a video on this older model that is still an amazing photography camera at a great price point. Great video!
As a previous owner of the A7R3 I wholeheartedly agree. I remember, when I was getting ready to make the switch from a mount to e mount I sold all of mine old amount gear. My guy at the camera store told me that they had just gotten in a open box A7R3. I jumped right on top of that. Wow multiple criticisms were made of that particular camera, I knew about the fantastic image quality. Many of those photos are still hanging in my office today.

I bought the Sony A7R 3A about a year ago and think it is the most under-rated photography centric camera you can still buy new. The 42Mp is excellent even when shot at 18Mp. The A7R 3A has some improvement to the LCD screen but otherwise it is the same as the original. The flip up screen is great for street photography too.

This camera made me fall in Love with Sony! Switched from Canon 5D Mark III to Sony A7R III back in 2018❤ and since 2023 now A7RV. Sigma 14-24mm art and Tamron 35-150mm 😎
I bought the A7r lll when it first came out and still haven't upgraded because it does everything i need it to do. But i might consider something new when the next cameras come out. Like maybe an A75 or an A1 ll.
Sony A7iii series remain the best! I use mine for video and it’s absolutely beautiful! Thank you Manny for always making us focus more on creativity than on gear.
Yeah I was rocking the a7r iii for stills for about 3 years too. Solid for portrait photography. I "upgraded" to a7iv for better video and autofocus. Oddly I find my a7iv sharper depsite the less megapixels especially for dynamic subjects with the better AF. Definitely a steal if you can find it used in 2024 for photos
100% agree… I have literally just bought another A7RIII (A) in 2024. 42MP is the sweet spot for me, I prefer the smaller body, the specs are still relevant and stills image quality hasn’t improved since it was released. If you don’t really care about video, at the price you can get one for (well under 2k)… It’s the best value stills camera on the market. Sony are really smart to still manufacture and sell it as a new camera.
I've worked with many cameras, including some of the top cinema cameras like the Arri and the RED series. The Sony A7III as well as the Sony A7IV has impressed me even to this day. Absolutely amazing little beast.
I literally just posted my first ever portraits advertisement today as a solo photographer. I want to upgrade from my A7ii and I think you're absolutely right, the A7Riii will fit the bill perfectly for my new photography business. Huge upgrade Im sure. Thanks Manny! 👍🏻📸
LIFE! I saw a Sony a7Riii for $930 on MPB, i thought about it and then looked at an old Manny Ortiz video saying why he chose the A7iii over the Riii. Two days later he post this video lol too funny
Definitely still a great camera. By the same token, if you need to save a little more, the a7r2 can be a great option as well, so long as you’re willing to sacrifice a couple quality of life features. I kept an eye on B&H’s used section and managed to snag a well used one for $700
Still rocking my 3-A99m2's same sensor but a better body than the A7r3 with better button layout and vertical grip and flip screen! I own a A1 for sports now but when it comes to shooting portraits and landscapes I grab one of the A99m2's!

I have from day one the RII and still work great with no problems. The only things I need are eye focus and large battery So RIII is the sweet spot for photography work They have exactly the same sensor For video work A7SIII THE BEAST
Really considering getting the a7 III as a first camera. Price seems to range between 1400-1500 new, with the 28-70mm kit lense in my country. There are just so many options 😂 primarily I want to take some pictures when traveling, maybe even from a train if that is realistic at all, there are some nice scenic train routes here in the mountains
I find that HSS nukes flash and camera batteries pretty hard. I dropped about $40 on inexpensive 4- and 6-stop ND filters and being able to keep myself down within standard flash sync speeds at f/1.4 is awesome. Other than that, love your setup and have been playing a lot more with flash outdoors lately; very happy with the results and your channel has been inspiring in that regard. Thanks for all you share.
I know this isn’t a fair comparison as this is much older tech; but how does the eye autofocus match up to the Nikon Z8? I’m just wondering as a secondhand A7r3 might be a better investment compared to hopefully imminent Nikon Z6 iii.
Love this review, aside from the good old trusty A7riii, the video feels like 2017, it reminds me of your channel back in 2017, when I first subscribed your channel. Watching this video bring me back the good old days ❤
As you say, the A7RIII is still a great camera in 2024. Many people like me are sad Sony stopped using the 42MP sensor. Having one in a A7RV body would be killer. I would love Sony to come out with a retro camera with fixed f2 35mm and a 42MP sensor.
Yep. I’m still rocking my r3. It’s been killed by the ocean and repaired by photo tech. It’s still going strong. I would like a r5 but I can’t stop buying g master lenses. 😊
I am still rocking the A7R3 as my main camera. It is such a good camera for photography - and I really don't need much more. I will say though, I have been doing a lot more wildlife stuff - and while I get good shots... I would like slightly better AF. I haven't because there is not enough benefit for the current cost of the RIV, RV or A1.
Hoping you can do a review of the Tamron or Samyang 35-150! I know not as much on the Tele end compared to the Sony and Sigma 70-200. But would love to hear your thoughts! Keep up the awesome videos!
I've been rocking the original A7 since launch. I'm a little sad I won't be able to find another one when the shutter on mine eventually breaks. The small size of the first generation makes it an unrivaled street camera.
I love the A7RIIIA in My bag. It is my Go to Carmera. I was a Canon Fan boy with my Canon 5D Mark IV. But this Sony A7RIIIA is much better and the quality of the images is mind blowing. It gives me so much ley way in low light with higher ISO (800-2000). IF you are starting to get serious with your photography and want a wide choice of lens from many manufacturers., The Sony A7RIIIA is the best Bang for the Buck for portrait and street photography. You can get sweet deals from store new as well as used. IT is money well spent on a great camera
Had a great photoshoot today (portrait / nude) witch rich contrast, etc. I set the parameters correct (great Film Simulation, WB, little grain effect, ...) After I came home I realised that it ALL was shot in HEIF only, no RAW (turned it off for some tests). BUT all pictures look great thanks to the great Fujifilm Filmsimulation. Out of the box great pictures....and thanks to DR400 I protected my highlights and the little grain effect makes it look very pleasing. If I would start over again, Fujifilm would be my choice (and learning to make the pictures great without having the RAW Lifebuoy) 🥳
One of the best ff sensors ever made IMO. I wish they built on it more instead of going to the 61mp sensor. I need the Riii mark ii lmao. Maybe the 7v will give me my pipe dream ughh. I just need the durability of the R over the 7 series. My cameras have hit concrete more than I'd like to admit
I am not a Pro, photography is my theraphy. I still have my r3 and I love it. When my little daugther began walk I got a A9. Now she is seven and the time begins to make fotos with the R3. She begins posing and not always moving around 😂. Love my old cameras and just got a 50 1.4 GM, love it and the next will be the 135 GM. I prefer invest in gear.

There are just so many options 😂 primarily I want to take some pictures when traveling, maybe even from a train if that is realistic at all, there are some nice scenic train routes here in the mountains
This is so wonderful content. Thank you for sharing your passion in photography!
My a7r3 is always my first choice to shoot with still. Great video as always bro.
Used to have that exact Cam/Lens combo. So good!
Soild camera for sure. Manny awesome shots 👏
Love mine. Simply fantastic sensor.
As you say, the A7RIII is still a great camera in 2024. Many people like me are sad Sony stopped using the 42MP sensor. Having one in a A7RV body would be killer. I would love Sony to come out with a retro camera with fixed f2 35mm and a 42MP sensor.
RX1Rii
The shot at 5:32 is so good!
What kind of flash is that brother? New to photography and looking to buy my 1st full frame camera. Thank you
Outstanding work man!! Congrats 🍾
Was ahead of its time on release. I still use mine for most of my portrait work. That sensor produces quality files.
I used A7RIII + SEL1635GM + SEL70200GM in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara and Aomori, Japan in 2019. Took some of my best landscape shots with it!
Oh how convenient! Got mine last week ❤
Yep. I’m still rocking my r3. It’s been killed by the ocean and repaired by photo tech. It’s still going strong. I would like a r5 but I can’t stop buying g master lenses. 😊
The model slow-mo was incredible😮
I am still rocking the A7R3 as my main camera. It is such a good camera for photography - and I really don't need much more. I will say though, I have been doing a lot more wildlife stuff - and while I get good shots... I would like slightly better AF. I haven't because there is not enough benefit for the current cost of the RIV, RV or A1.
I thinking a9m1 would be great option man.
Manny is there any reason other than full body shot for you to be so far back @7:13min into clip ???
You are always to the point. Excellent content. Thank you
Hoping you can do a review of the Tamron or Samyang 35-150! I know not as much on the Tele end compared to the Sony and Sigma 70-200. But would love to hear your thoughts! Keep up the awesome videos!
Great video I'm about to upgrade from the A7Rii to the Riii but I'm confused, how can you achieve 1/8000 of a second with a flash?
Traded in my A7R ii for the A7R iii last December and it only cost me £500. My favourite updates are the battery and eye autofocus improvements.
R3 def does it all. Wishing I would’ve kept mine with my R4.
I agree! R3 is a beast! But why is everybody pronouncing Canon like "aseven"? Is that Dutch?
Awesome content manny. Fun video to watch. Greetings from Houston texas
It's just something about the model that's always 🔥🔥🔥
Had a great photoshoot today (portrait / nude) witch rich contrast, etc.
I set the parameters correct (great Film Simulation, WB, little grain effect, ...)
After I came home I realised that it ALL was shot in HEIF only, no RAW (turned it off for some tests).
This feels like 2019 Manny videos, got that retro feel
Appreciate you
what camera was the broll shot on?
Hi Manny, I'm a big fan. Keep on doing videos like this.
I love you man 🙌🏽
