I was a Sony shooter for like 15 years. In the last year and a half or so I have fully switched over to fuji. I have never heard a better description of fuji than this. Fuji makes me want to take pictures. Sony was what I used when I had to take pictures. Such a huge difference.
I love how just… solid and, for lack of a better word, smart every opinion is. No blind trust in a brand. No blind spots when talking pros and cons. Definitely one of the few people I trust to give a true honest opinion that’s well thought through.
Interesting perspective. Very well illustrated. I use my Fujifilms for work. Have used them for the likes of the Chanel N°1 product line, for VOGUE, ELLE, etc... As all of the new cameras are very capable, Fujifilm does the job as well as any of the competitors. Out of my last 10 gigs, 6 were with XT's and 4 with GFX systems. The GFX 100S is phase detect autofocus.
My GFX100S is my go-to for many client shoots, and I work with kids and animals. 99 out of 100 shots are in focus, even with moving subjects in an unpredictable environment. The 80mm f/1.7 is a dream lens on a dream system.
Man this one is a home run. I upgraded to the Sony A7R5 for work and the jobs that need to get done. I have the X100v for fun and family. Funny enough , todayI just upgraded to an X-T5 from the X-T4 because I love the dials and look of that camera and for taking pictures without pressure. Love my Fuji Cameras.
In the same boat, selling my a7rlll and just bought the xt5. I have been working as a photographer for 7 years, if I’m a pro is not up to me to decide, but I don’t have fun anymore since I sold my canon 6d and bought the Sony. ❤
As a car guy and a photographer, I couldnt agree more to this video. For 99% of a wedding day im shooting on my Z9s. That 1% of the day I break out the XT5. Its an enjoyable and fun experience.
+1 from another car guy & photographer. Exactly how I feel too. Nikon / Leica (previously full time Fuji X shooter at one point) GTI / BRZ (clinical, effective / involved, rewarding)
+1 from another car guy and photographer. I never expected to get so hooked on Fuji gear, started with the original X100 and yet somehow they have more “sex appeal” than my work cameras. Not perfect, nothing is, but definitely more wallet friendly and “fun size” for travel with the fam. I can’t imagine giving up a manual transmission and V8 roar any more than I can imagine shooting with an automated brick of menus instead of Fuji’s old school dials. Each has their place. 😎
Manny, I enjoy your videos. I was a Canon shooter for years a last fall completely switched to Fuji. I shoot with the X-T2. In my opinion the best of the XT series. I switched because I wanted to be more hands on with my photography. I feel that technology in cameras has taken the creativity out of photography. As far as autofocus, since moving to Fuji, I now shoot 98% of the time in manual focus. Even when I am doing wildlife. I still back button focus in manual focus, but I can dial in exactly on where I want to be. I know this sounds archaic, but when I started photography in the 80’s, I was shooting basketball games with a Nikon FG20, 105mm f2.8 and black and white film. There was no auto anything. Everyone has there style of shooting and Fuji allows me to shot my style easier than any system out there. Thanks again for the video!
I switched from Canon to an XT-3 because of the tactile feel of the dials and the ability to use my vintage lenses on this camera. It brought back the love of photography.
My Fuji x-s10 has become a camera I liked to document without pressure. Using the recipes to just shoot and post without overdoing it. It almost feels like a great camera to show my humanity. That’s why I’ve used my Fuji on the go when I don’t want to bring my Sony around.
@@Battlem0nk I have a little but not enough honestly. I need to see what I can come up. Not sure if they have somewhere to make the recipes like Fuji x weekly has. But the size of the Fuji is nice to walk around with to just capture without lugging too much gear around too.
@@EasyTigerCreative Think veresdenialex is the only one making a bunch of recipe that mimic Fuji's simulations. Fujixweekly is possible but no one has made the app/website?
Switched from Canon to Fuji and loving the GFX100s. Takes me back to the film era and a slower pace for thoughtful artistic impression...speed isn't everything. Paired with the x100v I'm loving this combo.
I just started the process of leaving Sony for Fuji. I hardly ever pick up my A7RIV now that I have my GFX100S. The 80mm f/1.7 is a perfect lens for most of my work. I think I'm going to do the X-H2 as my "fast" camera, though.
I’ve been watching you for many years now. I was in the Sony band wagon for many years but found it to “easy”. Once I started street photography I made the Fuji jump and immediately felt more connected and proud of my images. Thanks for the video.
A7iii was my go to. I bought an xt1 and fell in love. Sold a7iii and bought xh1. I bought a few good lenses and the 23mm 2.0 and boom I sold all my Sony stuff. I love the feel of Fujis.
What an honest sincere expression of relatable thoughts. The car scenario is so on-point and relatable. I have a 1989 2jzgte MK3 SUPRA, and an Infiniti q50a. The shifting gears, and hearing that turbo spool makes me smile every day that I take it out.
I have to admit that with their Medium Format cameras and lenses, Fuji has done an amazing job of keeping the price within reason and the image quality is amazing. It's so tempting to move up to Medium Format.....
Fuji understand that art is motivated by good vibes and lack of stress. Furthermore, they understand that a relax photography enthusiast create better art than a stressed creator or photographer in ANY league! Their cameras motivate the common person to learn more about arts!
You highlight a very valid point. I shoot with the XT2, X100 and XE3 and I love the fact that the images are less over sharpened than for instance smartphones and some of the camera brands. Keep on making these long formats. Great to see somebody taking their time to present their opinions and experiences
Thanks for this upload. I get what you are saying completely. I just bought the X-T5 with the 33 1.4 for my fun camera. Reminds me of the fun I had with my Canon A1 from many years ago with the convenience of being digital. I use an R5 for my work but the fuji is fun (and light)! Images are great. What more does anyone want? One thing, the traditional camera for me is the A1 and so the feel of the X-T5 is more traditional but I get when you say the H2 is more traditional for you. I am an old boy now 😂
I also flinched at this use of traditional. Makes me think of traditional agriculture versus organic agriculture. Guess which one has been there for thousands of years and which one damaged soils with chemicals for 70 years.
I love shooting my fuji stuff when not shooting pro with my R6. I just traded up from an xt20 to an x-s10. I love the S10 for the grip. I didn't mess with dials much. I mostly shoot street or casual and use Auto ISO with minimum SS set. I love the simulations and recipes. I mostly use the jpegs and do minimal tweaks. It's so much fun and relaxing to go this route.
I’ve picked up a gfx50sii and fallen in love with Fuji. The handling, workflow, film sims… just an absolute joy that puts out seriously solid images. I’m ordering a xh2 with that 56mm 1.2 APD tonight. If that holds up in low light and is fast enough the my Sony kit will be traded for a bunch of Fuji glass 👌🏼
The sentiment of this piece is along the line of why I have held on to my original Sony A7. It's more of a slow and enjoyable experience than a faultless and efficient process. Keep up the great work maestro
Fuji shooter since I started photography back in 2019 so I’ve been a Fuji Fanboy for a minute but have zero experience with any other systems. This video is really good to get a different perspective. Happy Shooting All! Cheers.
Manny, that car analogy is so good. Daily, automatic and reliable. Fun, manual trans and noise!! LOL! Love this. I have an XT-3 and just love the fun of it. Have a great weekend.
This entire video spoke to me ok an unusual level. The RUclips algorithm is spooky accurate with suggestions. I’m a fuji shooter, drive an s2000 and have been rockin eyebrow stripes since the 90s. Hope to keep seeing solid content from you in the future.
As an S2000 owner and photographer I have often made the very same comparison. For when it has to be gotten with the minimum amount of work the A1 is unbeatable. But for pure tactile interaction I love the X-Tx bodies. The A1 is like a Nissan GTR in comparison but 9000rpm, no traction control, pure 6MT RWD is more engaging. Well put, Manny!
I've been making a decent amount of money since I started in aug 2020 with a Fuji XT30, then I upgraded to XT4 and now I am a proud XH2s owner, those are all great sensors for the price, high quality lenses and a 360° nice experience, every single photographer loved taking my cameras for a spin
Xh2 shooter here. Super good cameras man, even for pro work of all sorts. Especially the xh2 with that new firmware v3 that just dropped? Unbelievable autofocus
XH2 current version as of 1-12-2023 is Firmware Version 1.20 - XH2s Firmware Version 3.00 - would loved to own both of them but I’m very pleased with the XH2.
Damn, man! You nailed the Fujifilm experience for me. I am a network Televisions Director and video editor. Been shooting on film since I was in junior high school with a Pentax Spotmatic camera. Went digital and then wanted an upgrade and found the fuji X-T3 and the manual dials (Heavenly!). Full control over the shooting experience. Your analogy of taking the fun car out for a spin is spot on. And, your comparison of the full-frame vs. APS-C argument was also spot on. Can you light? Can you compose and achieve what you want through lighting and post-processing? Then good for you. Work with your equipment and become a skilled craftsman and you can crank out awesome stuff! Finally, yes, you are correct, there are some ergonomic trade-offs with the Fuji system. But, there are grips that you purchase aftermarket that will give you more of the ergonomic feel you want and need at a very affordable price. I love what Fuji is cranking out year after year. They "get" the photographer. And, now, if the money is there I have my eyes on that GFX camera....
Been away for a while but I caught this vid because it dealt with Fujifilm. I have an XT-2 and I love it. It's a camera's camera. Just on aesthetics alone Fuji's XT series "knocks it out of the park." And, using your car analogy, when I use my XT-2 it feels like I'm driving a stick vs an automatic. Give me a stick any day of the week. Keep on rollin' Manny - Luv ya.
I have the X100V and an old stick shift Subaru Forester XT, and can confirm that you nailed it with the car analogy. Some things just give you a better experience, even if they're more uncomfortable, slower, and more manual. I also have a Canon 6D, and I'm struggling to decide if I should fully switch over to Fujifilm with a more "interesting" X-T5 or stick with Canon and get the more advanced but kind of boring/automatic R6... 🤔
x100 series is in a league of it's own in my opinion. for majority of people this is the camera i recommend. 35mm works for almost any situation. the camera is so small and compact. you can make the file sizes as big or as small as you need to for quick/methodical workflows. simply put it's just a great starter and all-rounder. and the most important piece, which you touched on, IT'S FUN! Cheers man - great video
really enjoyed this video. loved the car analogy, I think it's spot on. I also agree that in some areas fuji is a bit behind competition but I'm pretty sure they'll be able to match competition in those areas in a couple of years. One thing that will always remain unique to fuji is the fun factor. That's the essence of these cameras
I've had EOS7D for about 10 years. Last year, after I started getting annoyed from removing bad pixels from 7D photos I started looking for a new camera. I went with Fuji XT4 and I'm really loving its dials and color science. One thing that annoys me is that while doing timelapses the camera freezes which makes it unreliable for this kind of job. Other than that it's pretty awesome
Awesome video. Great analyze ! Few years ago I quit Canon for Fuji, and few months ago I quit Fuji for olders Canon... but I keep Fuji XH1 and 90 mm because, there is little things in it what I still love. Ergonomic, big EVF, sometimes color simulation. Now when I saw your images I and your explanations, I understand what I like on Fuji and what I prefer with FF systems. You're totally right. Fuji are fun cameras and FF look better with image rendering. But... You just proved that it's possible to have Awesome picture with Fuji APSC. Thanks for sharing your passion like this :)
Hi Manny. Really great episode. One that answers some questions jet raises others. I shoot with a Sony A7R IV and now have lately returned to Fuji first with an X-E4 and now with the X-T5. As an enthusiast I am blessed with the ability to afford my set up. Therein lies an issue. As a highly successful professional you are able to (I guess) write off the cost of equipment against income and gain tax reliefs. I'm in the UK and assume it is the same elsewhere. For those of us who are enthusiasts or pros further down the food chain choice of kit and bang for buck is very important. There are other factors as well. As an older person, damn I hate typing that, I need to reduce the load I carry for a day out hiking in wild places. I also have to carry essential supplies and safety equipment as well. From my perspective the Sony is a great camera and allows me to crop hard for wildlife and other shots as well as providing terrific detail for Macro. I'd be really interested to see what happened if you used the X-H2 for example for client work? Would they notice the difference? Or is the difference in your head. Bit of a challenge there I guess. Go well. K
I’ve been testing the Sony A7Riii against the Fuji X-H2 for the last 2 months or so. Honestly there is very little difference in image quality (family and wedding photography) but the Sony still has better autofocus. I’d happily use either for paid work.
As a professional DP and photographer, I shoot both Canon and Fuji. Owner of the XT4, X100V, and GFX 50sII on the fuji side, and Canon C70 and R5 for the video side. One thing about Fuji when using it for professional work is the image quality IN COMBINATION with their color science. That alone has its benefits. When I take photos of a model, they see themselves a million times with the same camera, same editing, same colors, etc. When they see themselves out of the camera with Fuji, they are always surprised at how amazing and different they look mostly due to the "non-traditional" colors many Canons and Sonys put out. Clients love it. It's why I keep going back to Fuji
I'm invested heavily in the Sony system but have been thinking about making the switch for a while. I jumped in with the intention of making the full transition over the course of the year. I have an X-T4 and an X-S10 and I set all of my Sony gear aside for a few months and shot exclusively with the Fuji stuff. I haven't yet found a use case where I notice a difference. For all of the grief Sony takes about it, the Fuji menu system is just as convoluted and unwieldy. I think it's just the cost of doing business to have as customizable and highly featured a camera as you get in both. Sure, the Fuji jpegs are slightly better straight OOC, but for my own important work I like Sony's RAW files better... which I understand is probably just a matter of having five or six years more work in processing the Sony files. I think the good news is that we've advanced to a point where Sony, Fuji, Nikon, and Canon are all making such high quality equipment that the differences are down to personal preference. The GFX system is another topic entirely. If we ever see a stable of 3rd party lenses available, I'd have a hard time not going all-in on that system.
manny if you check your settings make sure AF+MF is turned off. if you have that setting enabled it messes with the shutter priority. so if you have the shutter priority set to focus, but AF+MF is enabled it overrides the shutter priority and just fires, regardless of focus. i noticed an immediate difference when i made that change on my xt4 and my xt2, so its worth checking out.
What about continuous vs single shot? I have AF issues and mostly use continuous but I also have the MF and AF on… yikes! I’m going to turn this off and see.
I love my XT-4, it’s just got the right amount of character, it’s different, in a great way. As something who likes to not hop on bandwagons, I’m glad I chose this camera, people love the photos that come out of it, it’s engaging, I’m not a professional so I don’t need the best, I just wanted something that took amazing photos, and trust me this camera does that and more!! Get the 18-55 f2.8 and you have amazing autofocus and video capabilities.
Manny Incredible Video and your work speaks for itself. I love your analysis with Cars and Cameras you are spot on. I don’t think I could have explained it better myself. I am Familiar with Canon and Sony and many others but I don’t want the pressure just want to enjoy and by the way you explained that great as well.Keep up the amazing work. Thanks so much for sharing .💯✌️
I love how at 24:06, the light went out behind you as you had just said, "more into creativity" and talking about how nobody wants to be so sharp with their work now. Like not so perfect. ;) The universe hooked you up there. ;) Awesome video, as always.
I've used every camera brand except Hasselblad and Nikon, and I currently have and use the GFX50R, GFX50SII, X-T5, and X100V. I have 5 GF Fujifilm Native and 12 XF Fujifilm Premium Native Lenses. Fujifilm Camera is like the Matrix :) lol. No one can tell how good they are; you must experience it yourself. I only purchased the X-T5 because the GFX Lenses are very heavy, and I didn't want to make it my run-and-gun system. The GFX100S and GFX100 are phase detection AF, and the other 3 are contrast detection. Good honest video!! Keep up the good work.
small note : the GFX 100 and 100S use phase detection autofocus (and are quite okay when it comes to autofocus, a little slower than the X-T4 but not by much) The GFX 50SII and older cameras use contrast detection AF only, and they are indeed quite slow in comparison, however I doubt that we'll ever see another camera made with that very old 51MP sensor
Dude, similar to you (not what you said but more what and how I feel) I like my Fujifilm photos more than any other photos I made even all the paid work.
I was literally telling my friends the same thing last week (they're all into cars and photography as well). My daily is a Highlander hybrid to get the kids around, its smooth, drives nice and does everything I want it to, just like my Sony A7RIV and A9 + 24GM, 50ZA, T35-150 f2/2.8. But for pleasure I drive my '92 NSX and '01 S2000 which I liken as my D810 + 90s primes (35f2D, 50/1.8, 85/1.4D). When you get a great shot you know it's all you. Then there is the optical imperfections which I see and value as character.
Great anology. I feel the same. I use my Nikon full frame system for work and my Fujifilm system for pleasure and travel. Fujifilm really focus on the pleasure of the process. If I can use a similar anology in wordworking, I use power tools to get the job done but I use hand tools to enjoy the experience.
I felt like what you said really resonate with me too. I have been shooting Canon for such a long time and when I first bought the XT-4. I am completely hooked with Fuji and have been shooting with it for about half a year now. I still use Canon once in a while for certain scenarios :D. Thank you for sharing this video.
Also, it might not be the best "autofocusing" camera, but straight off the sensor, those shots you took are so filmic and beautiful. I don't need the fastest camera, just the one that takes the most beautiful pics. Thanks for making this vid.
As always dude, awesome video. You've said it before, there's something about shooting Fuji that's a different experience from the other cameras. One of my first Fujis, the X-T3, literally taught me everything about photography -- lessons I was struggling to learn with my Canons, Panasonics and Sonys. The Fuji system made photography "make sense" to me, finally. Keep up the awesome stuff man!!
I like your video a lot, I’m retired have been using Canon since the Film days. After my retirement I switched to Olympus, got all the Pro fixed f1-2 lenses and the f2.8 Pro Zooms. I recently had a stroke which left my arms and legs weaker. The Olympus was too heavy so I switched to fujifilm’s XT-5 and the f2 primes. I found them lighter and more fun to use with the film simulation
Came in to agree with your take, especially Full Frame v APSC. It's not a knock on Fuji, but when you are talking latitude, it matters for your workflow. It's why some jobs require Medium format because you may need that latitude for the final product.
Hi blubravery, not sure what you or Manny meant with "latitude" wrt full frame vs APSC. Do you mean you have more room to crop in post? Or more dynamic range? Or more 3D bokeh pop? Thank you
I have been a Canon user all the time and the last camera I owned from the brand is the 1DX Mark III. A monster! But then I decided to size down and went to Fuji. And yes, Fuji makes photography fun and I am much more creative than I was with Canon. I use the X-Pro 3 with the 27mm pancake and I take it with me on all my trips. I have the X-T5 when I need more precision. The XF 50-140 is the best lens I have EVER used.
Had Sony A7rIV side by side for 2 yrs along with GFX50s. Unless I really needed fast AF, Fuji was so much more joy to use. Could never say for my Sony. Having upgraded GFX100s I sold all my Sony gear including A1. Yup Fuji is perfect for my needs. If I go ever go back shooting sports and stuff I will think about Sony.
Haha, your comparison is what I always think about cars and cameras. Long family journeys or commutes, bring on the auto, adaptive cruise control, satnav, auto this, auto that, you name it. Time spent for fun, jump in my manual, no nav, no auto features, but just a big smile on my face. I sold all my heavy canon gear and went fuji way, couple of really small primes and the standard zoom lens, idk, there's not a single day that passes without taking pictures. Even after really long working hours, my joy is to snap the 24323th shot of my fruit bowl this month
I've long thought about having a camera that's not a part of mainstay kit. This video definitely gave me a lot to think about and I'm definitely considering the x100v as a camera dedicated to just having fun. There's nothing wrong with getting excited about the big toys, but I've recently been reflecting on making sure I don't get too mired in the tech and forget about engaging with the art form. Thanks, Manny. Great video!
Totally agree with you on this review.. I’m a beginner hobbyist photog and I’m loving my fujifilm.. i love how I can play with my photos and customized on my liking.. i love the retro vibe of the camera aswell.. the af though😅😅 but overall i love my fujicam
I really like the con side of this, I love the Fuji but the Af is what really holds me back from switching. Still great points and still want a Fuji regardless.
I still do paid work with my Sony, but recently I bought an 2008 Canon G10 for the equivalent of $15 dollars, and that's the camera I have daily with me. And I like all of its quirks, even thought Lightroom has the lens correction proflie for this camera, sometimes I just skip it and embrace the heavy distortion and vignette.
Great video. I use a XT-4 and sometimes I do find a bit of a focus problem sometimes when I do street photography and needed to capture that fractional spontaneous moment. In a way, I've came to accept that it is a camera more for the joy of photography.
You nailed it. I shoot on an R5 for professional work. I shoot on an XH2 and GFX100S for my personal portfolio work. If I could take the AF and ergonomics out of my R5 and put them into my Fuji cameras, I'd be 100% fuji. You said the GFX100S had contrast autofocus. It's phase. The rest of the cameras in the GFX line are contrast though.
I always enjoy your content. I'm glad you do these videos for all the camera systems. People making purchasing decisions can look at these for lots of great insight!
As a Fuji shooter for the past 6 years, I agree with everything you said. My X-H1 has better continuous tracking that my X-T4. I still love the system, despite the weaknesses (and strengths!) you mentioned.
I mostly always miss I never sold my XT2, learned a few of the basics on her, film simulations were fun to play with but man the weight is basically the biggest pro I have. Wish the x100v was more available just sold out everywhere or double in price on Amazon.
You’re right about firmware. Last one for my A7rIV was released two years ago 😮 Others release firmware even for old camera models like Lumix G9, Fujifilm X-T3 and others. Sony is like Chinese low cost smartphones, 1 year release and stop. Very disappointed 😢 Thanks for your work, it’s always interesting.
I’m gonna upgrade from my Cannon Rebel T6 to a Fuji XT5 hehehe but gotta save up for it and I make photography my hobby/side hustle so what you said really resonated with me
I have to agree 100% with all your points. Once Fuji really fix their AF and it inspires user confidence... and once you're accomplished enough at doing good photography and realise you don't need the same degree of latitude with the files... then what actually do the other systems bring to the table over Fuji? Your points about AF and FF on the other systems are totally on point, but at what point do you cross over? When Fuji has Sony AF? Do you then think to yourself "why am I still with Sony? Do I need this FF file anymore?" The way I see it the other systems now need to REALLY up their 'in camera profiles' game, because Fuji filmsims are no joke and a major workflow saving which translates to genuine real life advantages both in the field and at home (by freeing up your time from post processing time). For every other brand other than Fuji we're basically shooting for RAW and hoping when we get back to the computer we have a 'good taste day' and render the file pleasingly. But again its a lot of work/time and we don't quite get that 'finished look' in the field which DOES matter much more than people give credit. I think the future for Fuji looks very strong, they simply have one major task to sink their teeth into, AF and doing it well. The XH2S (with f/w 3.00) looks to being the start of a promising future.
I find your Pro-Con-videos pretty valuable because of your experience with the different systems. I only used Fujifilm (X-T200 -> X-T30 -> X-T5) so far and use it for fun. To great success. :)
This Video resonates really well with my experience with Fuji. For context: I'm a broke student. My first camera was a literllay broken Sony A58. I wasn´t able to fix it, so I started looking for a replacement. Found a good offer on a broken Fuji X-T10, fixed it and went with it ever since. It took the Fuji-Camera for me to really learn about photography. It felt kinda sterile on the sony. On the Fuji I love experimenting with the settings, as they're all on the tip of my finger. My only complaints about the Fuji so far are it´s autofocus (My eyes are pretty bad, so I rely heavily on AF) and the small selection of cheap telezoom lenses. I don´t want to judge modern Fuji´s AF on my experinece, because the X-T10 is from 2015. But from what I hear Fuji ist still behind Sony and Canon. I also started to focus on wildlife photography and love playing with low light settings - both of these topics basically "need" the bigger sensors and better AF from Fujis competiton. But if I had the money I would still go with Fuji. There's just too much love for the operating concept of their cameras. PS.: I´ve had the same problem with ergonomics, as my hands are pretty big. I´ve ordered a 15$ grip from China and now it´s perfect!
You nailed it with me with the car comparison. I don't think I can leave sony behind for work. But I *never* shoot it outside of work. I've switch to all cell phone shots for personal/memories. I want to get back into daily carrying a camera but the a7c isn't it (I shoot an a7riv and have an a6300 as well). I've had fuji's in the past and I think I'm going back to a split setup, one for work (Sony) and one for fun (fuji). Thanks for the thoughts.
Very good points and excellent delivery. You are a very charismatic presenter. One thing you need to mention is that Fujifilm looked at the APS-C market very differently than the other camera makers. The other makers, said "I guess some of you still want APS-C so we will put one out and make a couple of lenses for it. Fujifilm said, "If we are going to be in the APS-C market we will dominate that market." And they did it with their high quality prime lenses at every price point. Even the f/2 lenses feel like Nikon's higher quality line. But, now they are in a pickle, because eventually they will have to put out a Full-frame camera and its corresponding lenses. I shoot Fujifilm and love it for all the reasons you site, but I think Sony and Nikon are better positioned for the future.
The size differences in APS-C vs Full-Frame is pretty small. That's why I use the X-H2S for my video and some photo work, and the GFX 100s for my commercial photo work. However, I'm excited to put the GFX 100 II through its paces!!
Love your work Manny! Thanks for sharing such honest, informed and meaningful opinions.. I've been drawn to the Fuji system after starting out on Canon APS-C DSLR and really excited to be buying my new camera upgrade soon 😃
This.
You Sir are my go-to example what Fuji cameras are capable of. Love your work
My GFX100S is my go-to for many client shoots, and I work with kids and animals. 99 out of 100 shots are in focus, even with moving subjects in an unpredictable environment. The 80mm f/1.7 is a dream lens on a dream system.
Would you consider the x-H2 capable of those level of client work?
Man this one is a home run. I upgraded to the Sony A7R5 for work and the jobs that need to get done. I have the X100v for fun and family. Funny enough , todayI just upgraded to an X-T5 from the X-T4 because I love the dials and look of that camera and for taking pictures without pressure. Love my Fuji Cameras.
Agree with everything you said. I sold my Sony A7iv and went Fujifilm X H2s and X T4. Shooting with Fujifilm is a joy.
Do you shoot professionally?
Which one is better xh2s r xh2?
Xh2s for videos xh2 for hybrid , xt5 photography
In the same boat, selling my a7rlll and just bought the xt5. I have been working as a photographer for 7 years, if I’m a pro is not up to me to decide, but I don’t have fun anymore since I sold my canon 6d and bought the Sony. ❤
As a car guy and a photographer, I couldnt agree more to this video. For 99% of a wedding day im shooting on my Z9s. That 1% of the day I break out the XT5. Its an enjoyable and fun experience.
+1 from another car guy & photographer. Exactly how I feel too.
Nikon / Leica (previously full time Fuji X shooter at one point)
GTI / BRZ
(clinical, effective / involved, rewarding)
Yeah I'm having the same thoughts, I shoot my paid work with my A1 but use my Leica Cl2 for fun
As a car guy and photog I take issue with BMW being a boring drive and easily breaking traction on an S2000 (one of the best cars ever made for sure)
So why not just use your Fuji for fun and get paid to do it? Just curious. I’m really trying to figure out what camera is right for me.
Have you played around with Sony's picture profile settings to mimic film simulation recipes?
@@Battlem0nk I have a little but not enough honestly. I need to see what I can come up. Not sure if they have somewhere to make the recipes like Fuji x weekly has. But the size of the Fuji is nice to walk around with to just capture without lugging too much gear around too.
@@EasyTigerCreative Think veresdenialex is the only one making a bunch of recipe that mimic Fuji's simulations. Fujixweekly is possible but no one has made the app/website?
Which Sony you have!?
@@motorsports4021 I have the sony a7iv and a7siii
Switched from Canon to Fuji and loving the GFX100s. Takes me back to the film era and a slower pace for thoughtful artistic impression...speed isn't everything. Paired with the x100v I'm loving this combo.
I just started the process of leaving Sony for Fuji. I hardly ever pick up my A7RIV now that I have my GFX100S. The 80mm f/1.7 is a perfect lens for most of my work. I think I'm going to do the X-H2 as my "fast" camera, though.
I have an x100v and I'm picking up a GFX 100 ii for this reason. Great combo.
Cool story.
Do you miss anything about the Sony?
This is the best take on objective pros and cons on Fujifilm camera’s I’ve seen yet. Thanks for your insight on this topic.
I just did, zero regrets!
That 33 1.4 is a VERY good lens IMO. If I had IL Fuji it would be my main lens.
Everything you say makes fuji sound great for a hobbyist and family camera. Been shopping for a couple months now.
You nailed it. Excellent opinion. Fuji has is cons but I love it, it boosted my love and joy for fotography. Good luck for 2023.
Fuji shooter since I started photography back in 2019 so I’ve been a Fuji Fanboy for a minute but have zero experience with any other systems. This video is really good to get a different perspective. Happy Shooting All! Cheers.
The end was awkward but “real”. I felt some true emotions going on. Love this guy.
Manny, that car analogy is so good. Daily, automatic and reliable. Fun, manual trans and noise!! LOL! Love this. I have an XT-3 and just love the fun of it. Have a great weekend.
Seriously much more fun! I own a Xpro3 and XT4. I shoot more since I switched a few years ago. Great video.
This entire video spoke to me ok an unusual level. The RUclips algorithm is spooky accurate with suggestions. I’m a fuji shooter, drive an s2000 and have been rockin eyebrow stripes since the 90s. Hope to keep seeing solid content from you in the future.
I watched many videos in the last few days. Gotta say, this dude is obviously most professional.
That damn side hinged flippy flappy screen though 🤮
I love seeing Manny covering Fuji. We gonna win you over one day! BUT, I can’t get a X100V because the bigger creators are talking about it so much 😂🤣
Manny thank you so much for making this video. I shoot Fuji both professional and for fun. Never regret it at all! 🙌
do you think the Fuji XS10 is a capable camera to shoot professional photography ?
Been away for a while but I caught this vid because it dealt with Fujifilm. I have an XT-2 and I love it. It's a camera's camera. Just on aesthetics alone Fuji's XT series "knocks it out of the park." And, using your car analogy, when I use my XT-2 it feels like I'm driving a stick vs an automatic. Give me a stick any day of the week. Keep on rollin' Manny - Luv ya.
Love it, honest and exactly the reason why I use my Fuji for all the casual stuff, can't beat the fun factor of Fuji cameras.
Indeed...
I have an xt3 , I love it! Stopped using it for video since getting an FX3 , but for photography it’s amazing!
Manny, you are still the GOAT. Great video and love that you are real with us.
You totally nailed it on the car analogy. Fuji is fun. Its not the best, but its the most fun to shoot.
I love the fuji system. and i like that you used a honda s2000 for the analogy, amazing car! Nice video too.
Keep up the good work.
small note : the GFX 100 and 100S use phase detection autofocus (and are quite okay when it comes to autofocus, a little slower than the X-T4 but not by much)
The GFX 50SII and older cameras use contrast detection AF only, and they are indeed quite slow in comparison, however I doubt that we'll ever see another camera made with that very old 51MP sensor
Thanks man. Yeah I missed that one 🥴 I’ll be shooting with it soon so I gotta brush up on it’s capabilities
If im not mistaken only the 100S use phase detect autofocus not the 100. Could be wrong doe.
@@Kaizenoriginal both have same PDAF based AF system, same sensor.
@@MannyOrtiz which printer are you using in video?
yea that 50SII autofocus can be a headache at times.
Appreciated to have your honest insight. Also appreciated how genuine your were on camera
Bruh. You make things so clear. It’s like a superpower! Thanks!
Dude, I think you have some of the best content on RUclips
Had Sony A7rIV side by side for 2 yrs along with GFX50s. Unless I really needed fast AF, Fuji was so much more joy to use. Could never say for my Sony. Having upgraded GFX100s I sold all my Sony gear including A1. Yup Fuji is perfect for my needs. If I go ever go back shooting sports and stuff I will think about Sony.
The Fuji Instax Wide printer is a must have. Love these videos.
Possible video end option. fade to black as you say "Have a great day". Simple and done!! Thanks for the great pros and cons video!!!
I like your mention of brand loyalty with updates. Good point!
Share more of your private work Manny… Loved seeing it. Beautiful. ❤️
I think you gave a good breakdown and sometimes people forget having fun is what's most important, the rest will follow.
Fujifilm X-E4 + 27mm f2.8 II
Totally agree with you on this review.. I’m a beginner hobbyist photog and I’m loving my fujifilm.. i love how I can play with my photos and customized on my liking.. i love the retro vibe of the camera aswell.. the af though😅😅 but overall i love my fujicam
I really like the con side of this, I love the Fuji but the Af is what really holds me back from switching. Still great points and still want a Fuji regardless.
Very spot on when explaining the full frame vs APSC. Perfect. Fully agree! Thanks for the awesome video!
I still love the system, despite the weaknesses (and strengths!) you mentioned.
really loved the old-school flash style photos you made in this video! could you make a video on how to achieve this style?
i'm here for the outro's, way to kill it again Manny ✊
I mostly always miss I never sold my XT2, learned a few of the basics on her, film simulations were fun to play with but man the weight is basically the biggest pro I have. Wish the x100v was more available just sold out everywhere or double in price on Amazon.
As a person coming from a Sony a6000 to a FUjifilm XT5 I think that itll be a hiuge upgrade. Love the video, and the analogys.
The last thing I expected was a Honda S2000 reference, but I sure appreciate it. 😁✌️F***ing awesome experience to drive.
Oh wow! A S2000 shout out :) love the VTEC being repped along with Fuji :)
You’re right about firmware. Last one for my A7rIV was released two years ago 😮
Others release firmware even for old camera models like Lumix G9, Fujifilm X-T3 and others.
Sony is like Chinese low cost smartphones, 1 year release and stop.
Very disappointed 😢
Thanks for your work, it’s always interesting.
Loved this video - thanks for making it despite the pressure! I thought it was great!
Do I need this FF file anymore?"
The way I see it the other systems now need to REALLY up their 'in camera profiles' game, because Fuji filmsims are no joke and a major workflow saving which translates to genuine real life advantages both in the field and at home (by freeing up your time from post processing time).
For context:
I'm a broke student.
TRUTH!! I don’t even bother with AF-C with my X100V. Gave up. Still love it.
The size differences in APS-C vs Full-Frame is pretty small. That's why I use the X-H2S for my video and some photo work, and the GFX 100s for my commercial photo work. However, I'm excited to put the GFX 100 II through its paces!!
XH1 all the way!!! Love it...
Love your work Manny! Thanks for sharing such honest, informed and meaningful opinions.. I've been drawn to the Fuji system after starting out on Canon APS-C DSLR and really excited to be buying my new camera upgrade soon 😃
