I switched from Canon to an XT-3 because of the tactile feel of the dials and the ability to use my vintage lenses on this camera. It brought back the love of photography.
Manny, I enjoy your videos. I was a Canon shooter for years a last fall completely switched to Fuji. I shoot with the X-T2. In my opinion the best of the XT series. I switched because I wanted to be more hands on with my photography. I feel that technology in cameras has taken the creativity out of photography. As far as autofocus, since moving to Fuji, I now shoot 98% of the time in manual focus. Even when I am doing wildlife. I still back button focus in manual focus, but I can dial in exactly on where I want to be. I know this sounds archaic, but when I started photography in the 80’s, I was shooting basketball games with a Nikon FG20, 105mm f2.8 and black and white film. There was no auto anything. Everyone has there style of shooting and Fuji allows me to shot my style easier than any system out there. Thanks again for the video!
Interesting perspective. Very well illustrated. I use my Fujifilms for work. Have used them for the likes of the Chanel N°1 product line, for VOGUE, ELLE, etc... As all of the new cameras are very capable, Fujifilm does the job as well as any of the competitors. Out of my last 10 gigs, 6 were with XT's and 4 with GFX systems. The GFX 100S is phase detect autofocus.
My GFX100S is my go-to for many client shoots, and I work with kids and animals. 99 out of 100 shots are in focus, even with moving subjects in an unpredictable environment. The 80mm f/1.7 is a dream lens on a dream system.
I was a Sony shooter for like 15 years. In the last year and a half or so I have fully switched over to fuji. I have never heard a better description of fuji than this. Fuji makes me want to take pictures. Sony was what I used when I had to take pictures. Such a huge difference.
Man this one is a home run. I upgraded to the Sony A7R5 for work and the jobs that need to get done. I have the X100v for fun and family. Funny enough , todayI just upgraded to an X-T5 from the X-T4 because I love the dials and look of that camera and for taking pictures without pressure. Love my Fuji Cameras.
In the same boat, selling my a7rlll and just bought the xt5. I have been working as a photographer for 7 years, if I’m a pro is not up to me to decide, but I don’t have fun anymore since I sold my canon 6d and bought the Sony. ❤
As a car guy and a photographer, I couldnt agree more to this video. For 99% of a wedding day im shooting on my Z9s. That 1% of the day I break out the XT5. Its an enjoyable and fun experience.
+1 from another car guy & photographer. Exactly how I feel too. Nikon / Leica (previously full time Fuji X shooter at one point) GTI / BRZ (clinical, effective / involved, rewarding)
+1 from another car guy and photographer. I never expected to get so hooked on Fuji gear, started with the original X100 and yet somehow they have more “sex appeal” than my work cameras. Not perfect, nothing is, but definitely more wallet friendly and “fun size” for travel with the fam. I can’t imagine giving up a manual transmission and V8 roar any more than I can imagine shooting with an automated brick of menus instead of Fuji’s old school dials. Each has their place. 😎
x100 series is in a league of it's own in my opinion. for majority of people this is the camera i recommend. 35mm works for almost any situation. the camera is so small and compact. you can make the file sizes as big or as small as you need to for quick/methodical workflows. simply put it's just a great starter and all-rounder. and the most important piece, which you touched on, IT'S FUN! Cheers man - great video
I love my XT-4, it’s just got the right amount of character, it’s different, in a great way. As something who likes to not hop on bandwagons, I’m glad I chose this camera, people love the photos that come out of it, it’s engaging, I’m not a professional so I don’t need the best, I just wanted something that took amazing photos, and trust me this camera does that and more!! Get the 18-55 f2.8 and you have amazing autofocus and video capabilities.
really enjoyed this video. loved the car analogy, I think it's spot on. I also agree that in some areas fuji is a bit behind competition but I'm pretty sure they'll be able to match competition in those areas in a couple of years. One thing that will always remain unique to fuji is the fun factor. That's the essence of these cameras
Totally agree with you on this review.. I’m a beginner hobbyist photog and I’m loving my fujifilm.. i love how I can play with my photos and customized on my liking.. i love the retro vibe of the camera aswell.. the af though😅😅 but overall i love my fujicam
Switched from Canon to Fuji and loving the GFX100s. Takes me back to the film era and a slower pace for thoughtful artistic impression...speed isn't everything. Paired with the x100v I'm loving this combo.
I just started the process of leaving Sony for Fuji. I hardly ever pick up my A7RIV now that I have my GFX100S. The 80mm f/1.7 is a perfect lens for most of my work. I think I'm going to do the X-H2 as my "fast" camera, though.
My Fuji x-s10 has become a camera I liked to document without pressure. Using the recipes to just shoot and post without overdoing it. It almost feels like a great camera to show my humanity. That’s why I’ve used my Fuji on the go when I don’t want to bring my Sony around.
@@Battlem0nk I have a little but not enough honestly. I need to see what I can come up. Not sure if they have somewhere to make the recipes like Fuji x weekly has. But the size of the Fuji is nice to walk around with to just capture without lugging too much gear around too.
@@EasyTigerCreative Think veresdenialex is the only one making a bunch of recipe that mimic Fuji's simulations. Fujixweekly is possible but no one has made the app/website?
BMW, the ultimate driving machine, is now a sterile daily driver…much like a Tesla. wow! Okay, I get the point. It’s just bad copy. What I think you really meant to say was, “Sonys and Canons are so precise that they lack the danger of the old 911s and Lamborghini of the 80s, where you needed to watch out not only for what you were doing but, also, for how the machine was behaving…otherwise there would be less than lovely consequences.” BMWs are phenomenal, you can feel the road through yours hands -in fact, most German cars are like that. And if you are bored with them, take it to the track…they are SO much more fun there! Good video, I got your point. Just try and work the copy.
A7iii was my go to. I bought an xt1 and fell in love. Sold a7iii and bought xh1. I bought a few good lenses and the 23mm 2.0 and boom I sold all my Sony stuff. I love the feel of Fujis.
Fuji understand that art is motivated by good vibes and lack of stress. Furthermore, they understand that a relax photography enthusiast create better art than a stressed creator or photographer in ANY league! Their cameras motivate the common person to learn more about arts!
I love how just… solid and, for lack of a better word, smart every opinion is. No blind trust in a brand. No blind spots when talking pros and cons. Definitely one of the few people I trust to give a true honest opinion that’s well thought through.
As always dude, awesome video. You've said it before, there's something about shooting Fuji that's a different experience from the other cameras. One of my first Fujis, the X-T3, literally taught me everything about photography -- lessons I was struggling to learn with my Canons, Panasonics and Sonys. The Fuji system made photography "make sense" to me, finally. Keep up the awesome stuff man!!
For some reason the new instax printers don't direct connect, but if you can get your hands on an SP-2, you can print straight from the cam and its AMAZING.
I know people claimed it solved over and over again, but one of my biggest issues with Fuji - and it's not a Fujifilm issue, yet affecting them - is the artifact / worming issue in Lightroom. When comparing the RAW files in LR and C1, the difference is noticeable - not only in color. Especially foliage and hair texture end up looking like a watercolor painting when I edit the files in LR / ACR. When pixel peeping some other things become obvious, but those don't bother me because you never see them. But the worming and mushy nature of Lightroom's interpretation of RAF files is very visible on print and I actually had customers ask me if the print had some issue - which is rare, because most customers don't bother with such. The difference in IQ between my Sony and Fuji is negligible, but the fact that Fuji suffers so immensely under LR is a hurdle to professionals with LR as their workflow and a sublime issue for hobbyist, just trying to create great images. Apart from this very specific and Non-Fuji-Fault issue, I agree with a lot of what you said and applaud the thoughtfulness and wits you put into your arguments. Great video series so far and I hope there's some way to come back to these videos in the future and see what changed.
Yes!! I had been editing Fuji in LR and just recently did a 30 day trial of C1 and the difference in the image quality is night and day! I prefer to use LR, and wish this would get addressed!
I have to admit that with their Medium Format cameras and lenses, Fuji has done an amazing job of keeping the price within reason and the image quality is amazing. It's so tempting to move up to Medium Format.....
Thanks for this upload. I get what you are saying completely. I just bought the X-T5 with the 33 1.4 for my fun camera. Reminds me of the fun I had with my Canon A1 from many years ago with the convenience of being digital. I use an R5 for my work but the fuji is fun (and light)! Images are great. What more does anyone want? One thing, the traditional camera for me is the A1 and so the feel of the X-T5 is more traditional but I get when you say the H2 is more traditional for you. I am an old boy now 😂
I also flinched at this use of traditional. Makes me think of traditional agriculture versus organic agriculture. Guess which one has been there for thousands of years and which one damaged soils with chemicals for 70 years.
Looking forward to your analysis of the X-H2S. I am a Sony user for 9 years and have owned every A7R series cameras over the years, but the X-H2S seems like the most exciting camera to me since the A7R III. I have the A7R III and the A7R IV and don’t find the A1 or the A7RV appealing. I would be more interested in a A9 camera with the latest innovations. I think that the A1 generates too much data. I use my A7R IV primarily as a landscape camera and was hoping to replace my A7R III camera with a future updated A9 camera. I did purchase the X-H2S and really love it, especially the film simulations. This is a camera that really makes me think about moving to Fujifilm. I am hoping that they update the GFX100S, as my experience with it felt sluggish. If that happens, I plan to sell both my Sony bodies and all my 10 GM lenses to add the GFX system to my X-H2S.
I’ve been watching you for many years now. I was in the Sony band wagon for many years but found it to “easy”. Once I started street photography I made the Fuji jump and immediately felt more connected and proud of my images. Thanks for the video.
small note : the GFX 100 and 100S use phase detection autofocus (and are quite okay when it comes to autofocus, a little slower than the X-T4 but not by much) The GFX 50SII and older cameras use contrast detection AF only, and they are indeed quite slow in comparison, however I doubt that we'll ever see another camera made with that very old 51MP sensor
I'm invested heavily in the Sony system but have been thinking about making the switch for a while. I jumped in with the intention of making the full transition over the course of the year. I have an X-T4 and an X-S10 and I set all of my Sony gear aside for a few months and shot exclusively with the Fuji stuff. I haven't yet found a use case where I notice a difference. For all of the grief Sony takes about it, the Fuji menu system is just as convoluted and unwieldy. I think it's just the cost of doing business to have as customizable and highly featured a camera as you get in both. Sure, the Fuji jpegs are slightly better straight OOC, but for my own important work I like Sony's RAW files better... which I understand is probably just a matter of having five or six years more work in processing the Sony files. I think the good news is that we've advanced to a point where Sony, Fuji, Nikon, and Canon are all making such high quality equipment that the differences are down to personal preference. The GFX system is another topic entirely. If we ever see a stable of 3rd party lenses available, I'd have a hard time not going all-in on that system.
You’re right about firmware. Last one for my A7rIV was released two years ago 😮 Others release firmware even for old camera models like Lumix G9, Fujifilm X-T3 and others. Sony is like Chinese low cost smartphones, 1 year release and stop. Very disappointed 😢 Thanks for your work, it’s always interesting.
I love shooting my fuji stuff when not shooting pro with my R6. I just traded up from an xt20 to an x-s10. I love the S10 for the grip. I didn't mess with dials much. I mostly shoot street or casual and use Auto ISO with minimum SS set. I love the simulations and recipes. I mostly use the jpegs and do minimal tweaks. It's so much fun and relaxing to go this route.
I've had EOS7D for about 10 years. Last year, after I started getting annoyed from removing bad pixels from 7D photos I started looking for a new camera. I went with Fuji XT4 and I'm really loving its dials and color science. One thing that annoys me is that while doing timelapses the camera freezes which makes it unreliable for this kind of job. Other than that it's pretty awesome
JUST TAKE THE DAMN PICTURES AND HAVE FUN WITH PHOTOGRAPHY! YOU'RE OVER THERE TALKING ABOUT PICKING UP ONLY CERTAIN CAMERAS FOR "FUN" AND YOU WON'T TOUCH ANOTHER CUZ YOU'RE THINKING OF WHAT YOU WOULD POST ON INSTAGRAM WITH THE MORE EXPENSIVE CAMERAS!?!?! SOCIAL MEDIA, GOT YOUR MINDS SCREWED UP! TAKE PICTURES FOR YOURSELF FIRST N FOREMOST... AND TAKE PICTURES WITH WHATEVER CAMERA AND CAPTURE THE MOMENT!💯💯💯
You highlight a very valid point. I shoot with the XT2, X100 and XE3 and I love the fact that the images are less over sharpened than for instance smartphones and some of the camera brands. Keep on making these long formats. Great to see somebody taking their time to present their opinions and experiences
Why are you so hyped about Fuji now? For over 10 yrs I am using Fuji & Olympus, I had Nikon & Canon full frame's and sold them. If you make street photography, taking portraits, take Fuji . Also buy adapters for putting old lenses on them, it does wonders! True, you don't have auto focus or zoom (of course), but you will have hand practiced in a month for a Manual mode. Only one that matters.
manny if you check your settings make sure AF+MF is turned off. if you have that setting enabled it messes with the shutter priority. so if you have the shutter priority set to focus, but AF+MF is enabled it overrides the shutter priority and just fires, regardless of focus. i noticed an immediate difference when i made that change on my xt4 and my xt2, so its worth checking out.
What about continuous vs single shot? I have AF issues and mostly use continuous but I also have the MF and AF on… yikes! I’m going to turn this off and see.
Dude, similar to you (not what you said but more what and how I feel) I like my Fujifilm photos more than any other photos I made even all the paid work.
I have the X100V and an old stick shift Subaru Forester XT, and can confirm that you nailed it with the car analogy. Some things just give you a better experience, even if they're more uncomfortable, slower, and more manual. I also have a Canon 6D, and I'm struggling to decide if I should fully switch over to Fujifilm with a more "interesting" X-T5 or stick with Canon and get the more advanced but kind of boring/automatic R6... 🤔
This video was awesome, thank you! Looking for some advice. I’m an amateur photographer looking to upgrade ahead of a first trip to Japan. Looking for a camera to have fun with (preferably between 1k-2k price range), which would you recommend between?
I've been making a decent amount of money since I started in aug 2020 with a Fuji XT30, then I upgraded to XT4 and now I am a proud XH2s owner, those are all great sensors for the price, high quality lenses and a 360° nice experience, every single photographer loved taking my cameras for a spin
Xh2 shooter here. Super good cameras man, even for pro work of all sorts. Especially the xh2 with that new firmware v3 that just dropped? Unbelievable autofocus
XH2 current version as of 1-12-2023 is Firmware Version 1.20 - XH2s Firmware Version 3.00 - would loved to own both of them but I’m very pleased with the XH2.
I think the X-T line is moving down from the flagship role. It's more the enthusiast prosumer slot though you can definitely still use it as a pro of course. But the T-5 really should have cost about 100-200 less because I'd rather just pay a bit more and get the H2 anyway.
Exact same reason why pro photogs like like having Leica M cameras. That said an x100v js more practical. No AF can get annoying when shooting family members/friends. The x100 also looks better proportioned than a Leica Q2 as well.
I really don’t understand why Fujifilm haven’t fitted the tilt and flip screen from the XT100 it’s a ingenious design and is the answer to stills photographers and videographers it’s so well built sturdy and should please both styles of togs. Come on Fujifilm let’s get the XT100 rear screen fitted to your future cameras please !
I still do paid work with my Sony, but recently I bought an 2008 Canon G10 for the equivalent of $15 dollars, and that's the camera I have daily with me. And I like all of its quirks, even thought Lightroom has the lens correction proflie for this camera, sometimes I just skip it and embrace the heavy distortion and vignette.
As a dedicated Fuji user for more than 20 years, I can confirm that all these 'exported' Chinese-made hyper-modern cameras have nothing to do with the glorious Fuji soul. Up till now, the only three GOATs are Fujifilm X-E2, X-T1 and X70(all made in JP for certain) with the digital-film-perfection-coupled X-Trans2 CMOS sensor.
Had Sony A7rIV side by side for 2 yrs along with GFX50s. Unless I really needed fast AF, Fuji was so much more joy to use. Could never say for my Sony. Having upgraded GFX100s I sold all my Sony gear including A1. Yup Fuji is perfect for my needs. If I go ever go back shooting sports and stuff I will think about Sony.
I really like the con side of this, I love the Fuji but the Af is what really holds me back from switching. Still great points and still want a Fuji regardless.
Great video. I don’t bother with Full frame anymore, its become too cumbersome for what it is. For some weddings and small events I may do occasionally I found the fuji X APSc system perfect and the quality is more then enough. For my main work and clients especially a skin care brand that I do a lot. The GFX is fantastic especially as most if those shoots are in a studio environment, BTW the 110mm f2 that lens is just incredible.
they should hear this as I doubt it, they are making cameras more simplistic, lesser dials and trying to be another Canon or Sony. They should hear its users and make what enthusiasts want. Nikon, Olympus are hearing
Is there really such a huge difference between Sony and Fuji in image quality? I shoot Fuji and on occasion Sony at work. I never had the feeling that there‘s a noticeable difference besides maybe the Bokeh of a F1.4 on fullframe is more like a F0.9 on Aps-C. And who needs that Sony autofocus if your work is mainly stills and portraits? All that gear and specs talk is just distracting from making images and art. 🤷🏼♂️
Hi Manny. Really great episode. One that answers some questions jet raises others. I shoot with a Sony A7R IV and now have lately returned to Fuji first with an X-E4 and now with the X-T5. As an enthusiast I am blessed with the ability to afford my set up. Therein lies an issue. As a highly successful professional you are able to (I guess) write off the cost of equipment against income and gain tax reliefs. I'm in the UK and assume it is the same elsewhere. For those of us who are enthusiasts or pros further down the food chain choice of kit and bang for buck is very important. There are other factors as well. As an older person, damn I hate typing that, I need to reduce the load I carry for a day out hiking in wild places. I also have to carry essential supplies and safety equipment as well. From my perspective the Sony is a great camera and allows me to crop hard for wildlife and other shots as well as providing terrific detail for Macro. I'd be really interested to see what happened if you used the X-H2 for example for client work? Would they notice the difference? Or is the difference in your head. Bit of a challenge there I guess. Go well. K
I’ve been testing the Sony A7Riii against the Fuji X-H2 for the last 2 months or so. Honestly there is very little difference in image quality (family and wedding photography) but the Sony still has better autofocus. I’d happily use either for paid work.
What an honest sincere expression of relatable thoughts. The car scenario is so on-point and relatable. I have a 1989 2jzgte MK3 SUPRA, and an Infiniti q50a. The shifting gears, and hearing that turbo spool makes me smile every day that I take it out.
Came in to agree with your take, especially Full Frame v APSC. It's not a knock on Fuji, but when you are talking latitude, it matters for your workflow. It's why some jobs require Medium format because you may need that latitude for the final product.
Hi blubravery, not sure what you or Manny meant with "latitude" wrt full frame vs APSC. Do you mean you have more room to crop in post? Or more dynamic range? Or more 3D bokeh pop? Thank you
This entire video spoke to me ok an unusual level. The RUclips algorithm is spooky accurate with suggestions. I’m a fuji shooter, drive an s2000 and have been rockin eyebrow stripes since the 90s. Hope to keep seeing solid content from you in the future.
that comparison of the cars was spot on, coming from canon and sony, and now fuji, fuji has ignited my love for photography after all these years. i rather slow down and work for the shot than just point and boom everything's perfect, which is good but boring. sony will always have the elite autofocus but the character and usage aint there for me.
Spot on with firmware… I shoot Sony currently and omg their firmware rollout is awful, A9ll is now ignored even though still current camera, Sony just want to sell the latest gear and ignore the rest. I’m trialling Fuji currently.
Fuji Shooter (previously xt2, x100v, xt3 and xt4 - currently XH2) as well as DLSR/Mirrorless Canon shooter. My paid work is primarily with the Canon - its just the AF, Low light performance and the long fast glass - but come the weekend it goes away away and out comes Fuji. Nice not to worry about the uber expensive/heavy gear, having to make sure batteries are recharged etc. I did enjoy the XT aesthetics, but never liked the ergonomics - the XH2 is just perfect and not that much bigger. Slot into a small bag with my Viltrox 13mm and Sigma 56mm and i'm set for family action
I admire your work but not this time ,u want to say this brand is better then that only to promote a brand i have 3 Fujifilm body and many lens and i m a fully satisfied. and planning for a medium format for next year.
As an S2000 owner and photographer I have often made the very same comparison. For when it has to be gotten with the minimum amount of work the A1 is unbeatable. But for pure tactile interaction I love the X-Tx bodies. The A1 is like a Nissan GTR in comparison but 9000rpm, no traction control, pure 6MT RWD is more engaging. Well put, Manny!
I bring my wife's Fujifilm camera with me 90% of the time. The SOOC images from the Fuji camera are just amazing. When I need solid AF, I bring my Sony. The Fuji is just more fun to use.
Ran into the *paid Fuji photowalks at Imaging this year and the Fuji reps were so rude and aggressive, at this point it's turned me off to the idea of ever trying them out.
Manny, I couldn’t agree more! Technology has dumbed down having to learn the art of photography! I recently switched from Canon to Sony. Why that’s for another day, but shooting with my Fuji XT-3 is fun. Yeah the auto focus isn’t Canon or Sony level but I prefer it when I’m capturing family or casual photos. I never edit my Fuji files, the film simulations are amazing! Fuji isn’t perfect but I think that’s why I enjoy it! To sum up what I’m trying to say, I feel more creative using Fuji!
Fujifilm makes great cameras with superb image quality. The only downer is the fact that their RAW files (RAF) cannot be viewed in Lightroom until they are actually imported. That was a con for me when I first made the switch from Nikon to Fujifilm. It was easy to view the NEF files from Nikon even on a MacBook Pro finder window. Fuji's RAF files can only be viewed after they have been imported to a program that can read raw files and that is due to the fact that they have a different sensor design (X-trans) than other camera companies. Lightroom needs to update their software ASAP because it does add two extra steps to the work flow.
My biggest probolem is the aps-c sensor. Less local contrast, high noise and low dynamic range compared to an 4 years older sony. Fuji is fun to shoot for sure. But editing is no fun to me, because, I often think, I whish I would have shot with the sony.
I’ve picked up a gfx50sii and fallen in love with Fuji. The handling, workflow, film sims… just an absolute joy that puts out seriously solid images. I’m ordering a xh2 with that 56mm 1.2 APD tonight. If that holds up in low light and is fast enough the my Sony kit will be traded for a bunch of Fuji glass 👌🏼
Great anology. I feel the same. I use my Nikon full frame system for work and my Fujifilm system for pleasure and travel. Fujifilm really focus on the pleasure of the process. If I can use a similar anology in wordworking, I use power tools to get the job done but I use hand tools to enjoy the experience.
As a poor guy, who can only have one or two cameras it's convenient that in a Fuji X-T you can put a grip and remove to make it big or small for long days of shooting or street photography. With a big and ugly Canon or Nikon you can't make it smaller!
As a professional DP and photographer, I shoot both Canon and Fuji. Owner of the XT4, X100V, and GFX 50sII on the fuji side, and Canon C70 and R5 for the video side. One thing about Fuji when using it for professional work is the image quality IN COMBINATION with their color science. That alone has its benefits. When I take photos of a model, they see themselves a million times with the same camera, same editing, same colors, etc. When they see themselves out of the camera with Fuji, they are always surprised at how amazing and different they look mostly due to the "non-traditional" colors many Canons and Sonys put out. Clients love it. It's why I keep going back to Fuji
The size differences in APS-C vs Full-Frame is pretty small. That's why I use the X-H2S for my video and some photo work, and the GFX 100s for my commercial photo work. However, I'm excited to put the GFX 100 II through its paces!!
Definitely need that vid...I can see him probably saying loves the colors that come out of nikon for portraits but video tracking is bad but slowly getting better. But focus tracking is still lacking when taking multiple shots at once
Awesome video. Great analyze ! Few years ago I quit Canon for Fuji, and few months ago I quit Fuji for olders Canon... but I keep Fuji XH1 and 90 mm because, there is little things in it what I still love. Ergonomic, big EVF, sometimes color simulation. Now when I saw your images I and your explanations, I understand what I like on Fuji and what I prefer with FF systems. You're totally right. Fuji are fun cameras and FF look better with image rendering. But... You just proved that it's possible to have Awesome picture with Fuji APSC. Thanks for sharing your passion like this :)
I think a major pro that you missed is the size of the lenses. I have the 33 1.4 on my XT4 and to get an equivalent on a FF system the size difference is immense. It was a major factor in my choice between Sony and Fuji when I changed systems this time last year. Also the cost of quality glass is vast. Top C/N/S glass is more expensive and doesn’t seem to have the same build quality.
Point taken but technically a 50mm 1.8 would be roughly equivalent and about the same size. Greater DoF control as well, as you probably know. Hard to find full frame f 1.8 lenses with the highest build quality though which is a shame.
@@thehotdoglover exactly. I love my X-Pro2, it’s my everyday camera with a 35f2. But I still can’t let go of my Canon R5 with the 24-70 2.8L yes it’s a lot bigger and more expensive. But if I were to try and get an equivalent lens for my Fuji, it would have to be a 17-50 f2 and such a lens doesn't exist and if it did it would probably be as large and expensive as the canon 24-70.
I don't understand this. You have essentially said you use sony and canon when you want a safe experience for a client, but you also admit it makes the process feel sterile. The following statement concerns how you like fuji because it makes you feel more connected. You compared it to a high-rev engine with a stick shift where you can lose traction. The next thing you asked for is for fuji to implement better tracking and make it more sticky. Is that different from asking fuji to make their systems more like sony and canon, which is the same thing you said made those systems feel more sterile? I'm not sure how you want to feel more connected and responsible for your choices, but are also asking fuji to make the system more automated where you are less responsible for your choices.
I mostly always miss I never sold my XT2, learned a few of the basics on her, film simulations were fun to play with but man the weight is basically the biggest pro I have. Wish the x100v was more available just sold out everywhere or double in price on Amazon.
I asked my girlfriend what images she preferred yesterday. My edited R5 photos or my straight out of camera Fuji jpeg and she preferred the Fuji. I preferred the Fuji. I’m tempted to move on the Canon stuff for GFX.
Been away for a while but I caught this vid because it dealt with Fujifilm. I have an XT-2 and I love it. It's a camera's camera. Just on aesthetics alone Fuji's XT series "knocks it out of the park." And, using your car analogy, when I use my XT-2 it feels like I'm driving a stick vs an automatic. Give me a stick any day of the week. Keep on rollin' Manny - Luv ya.
The X-H is profesional dsl style camera, X-Pro is high end rangefinder lifestyle camera, the X-s is enthusiast dsl style camera, the X-T is a classic style for low end, medium and high depending on the number.
Hi Manny. I just recently found your channel. I'm at a difficult time in my life. I currently use Sony A7R mk IV but not to earn money, for pleasure purposes. The image quality is second to not many full frame cameras, my problem is there is no joy to using the Sony gear it is all far too clinical. After watching your videos I'm going to sell all my Sony gear and move to Fuji. I did own a X100F in the past and loved it. I will either get a XT5 or X100V.
Just reviewing cameras and came across your channel, so I’m looking for my first camera, using iPhone Pro max at moment, should I buy the clinical full frame with perfect AF Sony A7 5 or Fuji X-H2 40mp camera, looking at used and only use for personal photos and videos ????? Stuck between the full frame or APC ???
I was literally telling my friends the same thing last week (they're all into cars and photography as well). My daily is a Highlander hybrid to get the kids around, its smooth, drives nice and does everything I want it to, just like my Sony A7RIV and A9 + 24GM, 50ZA, T35-150 f2/2.8. But for pleasure I drive my '92 NSX and '01 S2000 which I liken as my D810 + 90s primes (35f2D, 50/1.8, 85/1.4D). When you get a great shot you know it's all you. Then there is the optical imperfections which I see and value as character.
I have been a Canon user all the time and the last camera I owned from the brand is the 1DX Mark III. A monster! But then I decided to size down and went to Fuji. And yes, Fuji makes photography fun and I am much more creative than I was with Canon. I use the X-Pro 3 with the 27mm pancake and I take it with me on all my trips. I have the X-T5 when I need more precision. The XF 50-140 is the best lens I have EVER used.
My main complain about Fuji is their cameras' weather sealing. I picked up an XT5 couple weeks ago, amazing camera all around except it's not well sealed. I was ready to replace my traveling/hiking Olympus camera with Fuji, but now I have to think twice.
I like the car analogy, I shoot Sony fullframe but just bought a secondhand Fuji X-T10 for a song because I need some soul in my photography! I briefley used Fuji a few years back but switched to fullframe Sony because I thought that was the thing to do for work. I'm intending to use the Fuji for personal work, I like the idea of being able able to edit raw files in-camera, why doesn't Sony do this?
This.
You Sir are my go-to example what Fuji cameras are capable of. Love your work
My GFX100S is my go-to for many client shoots, and I work with kids and animals.
Agree with everything you said. I sold my Sony A7iv and went Fujifilm X H2s and X T4. Shooting with Fujifilm is a joy.
Do you shoot professionally?
Which one is better xh2s r xh2?
Xh2s for videos xh2 for hybrid , xt5 photography
In the same boat, selling my a7rlll and just bought the xt5. I have been working as a photographer for 7 years, if I’m a pro is not up to me to decide, but I don’t have fun anymore since I sold my canon 6d and bought the Sony. ❤
As a car guy and a photographer, I couldnt agree more to this video. For 99% of a wedding day im shooting on my Z9s. That 1% of the day I break out the XT5. Its an enjoyable and fun experience.
+1 from another car guy & photographer. Exactly how I feel too.
Nikon / Leica (previously full time Fuji X shooter at one point)
GTI / BRZ
(clinical, effective / involved, rewarding)
Yeah I'm having the same thoughts, I shoot my paid work with my A1 but use my Leica Cl2 for fun
As a car guy and photog I take issue with BMW being a boring drive and easily breaking traction on an S2000 (one of the best cars ever made for sure)
So why not just use your Fuji for fun and get paid to do it? Just curious. I’m really trying to figure out what camera is right for me.
x100 series is in a league of it's own in my opinion. for majority of people this is the camera i recommend.
I have an x100v and I'm picking up a GFX 100 ii for this reason. Great combo.
My Fuji x-s10 has become a camera I liked to document without pressure. Using the recipes to just shoot and post without overdoing it. It almost feels like a great camera to show my humanity. That’s why I’ve used my Fuji on the go when I don’t want to bring my Sony around.
Have you played around with Sony's picture profile settings to mimic film simulation recipes?
@@Battlem0nk I have a little but not enough honestly. I need to see what I can come up. Not sure if they have somewhere to make the recipes like Fuji x weekly has. But the size of the Fuji is nice to walk around with to just capture without lugging too much gear around too.
@@EasyTigerCreative Think veresdenialex is the only one making a bunch of recipe that mimic Fuji's simulations. Fujixweekly is possible but no one has made the app/website?
Which Sony you have!?
@@motorsports4021 I have the sony a7iv and a7siii
BMW, the ultimate driving machine, is now a sterile daily driver…much like a Tesla. wow!
Okay, I get the point. It’s just bad copy. What I think you really meant to say was, “Sonys and Canons are so precise that they lack the danger of the old 911s and Lamborghini of the 80s, where you needed to watch out not only for what you were doing but, also, for how the machine was behaving…otherwise there would be less than lovely consequences.”
BMWs are phenomenal, you can feel the road through yours hands -in fact, most German cars are like that.
Cool story.
Fuji understand that art is motivated by good vibes and lack of stress. Furthermore, they understand that a relax photography enthusiast create better art than a stressed creator or photographer in ANY league! Their cameras motivate the common person to learn more about arts!
That Yc onion grip is the one for the v , best grip I’ve owned for this camera .
I just did, zero regrets!
The new X-H2s firmware makes the AF likely better than my R6. No more false positives, and super sticky in complicated situations.
About to fire 🔥 up my Fuji app and get the update. Tomorrow will put the XH2S through it paces.
That 33 1.4 is a VERY good lens IMO. If I had IL Fuji it would be my main lens.
Loved this video - thanks for making it despite the pressure! I thought it was great!
Thanks for the video.
small note : the GFX 100 and 100S use phase detection autofocus (and are quite okay when it comes to autofocus, a little slower than the X-T4 but not by much)
The GFX 50SII and older cameras use contrast detection AF only, and they are indeed quite slow in comparison, however I doubt that we'll ever see another camera made with that very old 51MP sensor
Thanks man. Yeah I missed that one 🥴 I’ll be shooting with it soon so I gotta brush up on it’s capabilities
If im not mistaken only the 100S use phase detect autofocus not the 100. Could be wrong doe.
@@Kaizenoriginal both have same PDAF based AF system, same sensor.
@@MannyOrtiz which printer are you using in video?
yea that 50SII autofocus can be a headache at times.
Last one for my A7rIV was released two years ago 😮
Others release firmware even for old camera models like Lumix G9, Fujifilm X-T3 and others.
Sony is like Chinese low cost smartphones, 1 year release and stop.
Very disappointed 😢
Thanks for your work, it’s always interesting.
I love seeing Manny covering Fuji. We gonna win you over one day! BUT, I can’t get a X100V because the bigger creators are talking about it so much 😂🤣
I love shooting my fuji stuff when not shooting pro with my R6.
That was great, I get the internets FF obsession now.
great outtro
Damn you're the Lowtiergod of photo industry! The resemblance is huge
Thanks for being genuine. #FujiLove
Peace be with you If you really want to play with open gate Lumix is the way to go for that experience.
Where i am right now is
Buy a flagship APS-C or an entry level Full Frame.
I love your deferentiation between camera for fun and camera for work
Shooting paid work with medium format digital and film beats any digital non sport or fast paced shoot.
That damn side hinged flippy flappy screen though 🤮
I think the X-T line is moving down from the flagship role. It's more the enthusiast prosumer slot though you can definitely still use it as a pro of course. But the T-5 really should have cost about 100-200 less because I'd rather just pay a bit more and get the H2 anyway.
Exact same reason why pro photogs like like having Leica M cameras.
That said an x100v js more practical. No AF can get annoying when shooting family members/friends. The x100 also looks better proportioned than a Leica Q2 as well.
Shot in the dark Manny, do you know if the XH2s is supported by Westcott, specifically the HSS? Thanks!
I own a Toyota GR86. I also own an XH2s. Nuff said.
When's the pros and cons of Nikon coming out
Had Sony A7rIV side by side for 2 yrs along with GFX50s.
Thank you
Manny thank you so much for making this video. I shoot Fuji both professional and for fun. Never regret it at all! 🙌
do you think the Fuji XS10 is a capable camera to shoot professional photography ?
You nailed it. Excellent opinion. Fuji has is cons but I love it, it boosted my love and joy for fotography. Good luck for 2023.
RAW files from Fuji can be viewed in MacOs if you change the Raw format in camera to "uncompressed"
@@alexkanarsky Really? I have it in lossless compressed. I will switch and try this tomorrow. Thanks for the tip.
Indeed...
The size differences in APS-C vs Full-Frame is pretty small. That's why I use the X-H2S for my video and some photo work, and the GFX 100s for my commercial photo work. However, I'm excited to put the GFX 100 II through its paces!!
You did the big boys, you know you gotta hit Nikon next!!,
Fuji isn’t a big boy 😂
😂
Definitely need that vid...I can see him probably saying loves the colors that come out of nikon for portraits but video tracking is bad but slowly getting better. But focus tracking is still lacking when taking multiple shots at once
@@barretogods7178 I meant Sony and Canon but hey Fuji can put on Big boy pants too 😭
Seriously much more fun! I own a Xpro3 and XT4. I shoot more since I switched a few years ago. Great video.
F2.8 full frame equals f2.8 apsc. The illumination is the same (the difference is only on the depth of field)
I have an xt3 , I love it! Stopped using it for video since getting an FX3 , but for photography it’s amazing!
Well said
I love the fuji system. and i like that you used a honda s2000 for the analogy, amazing car! Nice video too.
My main complain about Fuji is their cameras' weather sealing. I picked up an XT5 couple weeks ago, amazing camera all around except it's not well sealed. I was ready to replace my traveling/hiking Olympus camera with Fuji, but now I have to think twice.
XH lineup is what you want then
@@lolno1474 a bit too big and heavy. I could just use my Sony instead. Oh well, may just keep 3 systems for now.
