Thanks for doing this stuff. I'm going to be your fan forever and I hope you never get burnt out because I'm always extremely happy when you post a new video.
Spends the last episode riding around in roller-skates killing dozens of zombies. wreck you shit climbing down on a pipe. sounds about right for cataclysm lol.
"How many zombies can there possibly be in two city blocks?" Well, leaving aside the possibility of apartment buildings, you make a dangerous assumption. See, we forget how far noise can travel in a city because they are, typically, full of the noise of cars which are louder than we realize. Gunshots are very loud and a handgun's sound can travel up to a mile when there's no interference. So it isn't just all the zombies in two blocks, but every zombie within at least a mile that is bearing down on your location.
There seems to be an apartment building right across the street from dude's house. Surprised she didn't mention it. I think that's why there were so many. Those things seem endless sometimes, plus the zombies trickle out as they break through doors and have to get down from higher storeys.
Something I appreciate about this series is, because it’s a natural extension from doing tutorials, you use “we” when narrating the adventures instead of “I”. It creates a very immersive tone that brings the audience into the experience, which I feel like I don’t see a lot of content doing. Nothing else comes to mind Unfortunately life is pretty crazy and I can’t watch through every episode like I want to, at least not yet, but I sure appreciate the vibes when I can. It’s good stuff! I’ve been inching my way through your tutorials when I find the time. They’re very helpful and I’m thankful you’ve made them
Running around, gunning down almost a whole town's worth of zombies in a single night ... and almost done in by a random slip while trying to climb off a roof. What a hilarious and fitting end to the episode

Hmm, I've actually caught up with this series. I guess editing these takes a while. Climbing is something I'm sort of terrified of in Cataclysm. There was one instance where I had accidentally broken a staircase leading down, and I still wanted to loot the place. I decided to try and figure out how to repair the staircase, so I was prudent enough to save before throwing materials down and climbing down myself. But it probably was another more complicated construction that I needed than what I was looking at, and I still got trapped. Trying to walk up those stairs made me fall and take damage. Now I know stepladders do the job, and have looted a basement in an otherwise similar situation.

This was a strange mix of calming maybe even a bit boring and tense as I was waiting for the stamina to run out without noticing or suddenly being surrounded or something like that. Regardless it was a fun watch.
I remember thinking that all that firepower in the kayak seemed like overkill. I couldn't have been more wrong. What's the plan for getting stronger as all these new and more dangerous things are showing up? It seems like better guns and more ammo will only take you so far if they're gonna keep getting stronger at this rate.
Giant gun fights in cdda are my favorite, i try to sneak into police stations and fight to weapons lockers. Normally there are enough Pistols and rounds there to destroy and clear a large town not to mention the amount of shotgun ammo too. Also nice double kill, its a rare accurance with low caliber rifles, but the barret makes that happen often 🤩
Some things are easier, some harder. The player has access to tons of new tricks but conversely there are more dangerous enemies and things like guns are harder to use.
Yeeeeah, new episode! I returned to the CDDA and play a lot of experimental, sad that moving save to updated glitch render and now I can't use "X" and look from 1 step around and can see through walls some times.
Definetly agree, I like what little live content that I've seen. But, I feel your edited content is unique very much & not something we get nearly as much.@@mutantwormgirl
So just curious WG but do you have anything planned for the next CDDA series? I'm so behind on everything related to CDDA I couldn't suggest anything beyond a Mutant or CDDA Magaclism run.
Hey guys, I have a problem. Would welcome any advice if anyone knows the solution. I made the mistake (?) of setting up my base in the building next to where I spawned into the game. The area was just too perfect for a base to pass up, or so I thought. Pond and forest nearby, and a marsh (salt water), on the edge of town, with a field surrounded by buildings I could easily connect by walls and create a kind of castle, a pre-fortified gunshop next to the field to move into, subway entrance nearby...One look and you'd recognise how perfect it looks for a base. The problem is that doing anything there takes forever. Any activity that causes time to pass. Like, sleeping takes a solid 5 mins irl. Maybe 10. It takes so long. Whereas if I sleep anywhere 2 or more tiles away it takes about 10 secs, which seems to be how long it's meant to take. I don't know why it's doing that. But I've set up a pretty good base by now so I'm loath to abandon it. My warehouse is pretty full and I've sunk a lot of time into building defences. I've gotten into the habit of running to a house down the street when I sleep, but this is irritating since it means I'm leaving the safety of my base when I need it the most. It also means my NPCs have a tendency to wander out into danger looking for me if I haven't locked them up. Anyone know if there's a way to fix this? Or what causes it? It seems like something right in that tile is causing a huge load on the CPU, but I don't know what that could be. The area is cleared and has been since about the second in-game week. I'm somewhere in my second summer now, so if there were some secret group of mobs pathing around and slowing my game in that exact tile I'd think I would've found it by now. I'm wondering if it's just a property of every starting tile for some reason. I did the Really Bad Day start, so there was a fire. Maybe that did something? Anyone know? Anyone know if it's fixable or if I just have to bite the bullet and move my base somewhere less CPU-intensive?
Mostly the thing that causes lag is monsters in the reality bubble. The game simulates all Z levels above and below you, and if your house is above a secret underground lab, every turn like 300 zombies will be wandering around down below out of sight causing massive lag. Spoilers below for how to find underground labs: If there's a subway station around, go inside and into the tunnels. See if they go back toward your house, even within 5 or 6 map tiles. If so, you may find a sealed door there. To get inside, use a jackhammer (can be found in a utility closet in the subway station) or find a science ID card. If it isn't that, then IDK what would cause it. If the fire is extinguished it shouldn't still be a problem.
@@mutantwormgirl Thanks WG. I have cleared the subway but probably only 2 or 3 tiles in each direction from where my base is. I just cleared enough that I figured my 'home' tile was clear. So maybe that's the problem -- I just haven't cleared enough. Or I guess it's possible the subway zags back towards my base, I'm not sure. But I've noticed that underground doesn't seem to line up perfectly with overground. I've done a bit of mining directly under my base -- I was hoping that sleeping underground might fix the issue. I didn't find anything but I didn't mine very far either. I'll have to strap on my atomic headlamp and do some more dungeon-crawling I guess. Thanks for the reply.
@@mutantwormgirl One other thing that may or may not be relevant: I noticed that for a while whenever I went outside I was seeing the twisted reflection of myself from the portal storm maze, even though there was no portal storm. Which made me wonder if there's some glitch due to that. But it's been lagging like this since the very first week, before any portal storms had happened. And I'm using the Gaiman stable release, not the experimental. So it seems unrelated. I don't know. Hopefully it's an underground lab like you suggested. Or some subway station full of cockroaches, maybe. If I figure it out I'll let you know.
@@mutantwormgirl Found a science lab just a little further on from where I'd stopped clearing in the subway. Given I can see my basement on the map I know it's well clear of my base tile, but yeah cdda can be funny like that I guess. Only one way to tell.
