    It has come to my attention that I made an error: Basic Carpentry practice will not raise your fabrication above 2. If you are at 2 and need to get to 3 in the version of the game linked in the description, you should be able to craft a "distaff and spindle" two or three times to get the final rank.
    As of November 21, 2022, you no longer need 1 rank of throwing to perform the throwing practice action. You can skip the step at 2:54 and go directly to 4:05.

    Pockets are still somewhat new and there isn't a good guide for setting them up for organization yet, so allow me to share my biggest tip learned through hundreds of hours of gameplay:
    Set the pockets on your backpack to priority 5 and don't put a whitelist or blacklist on it. Pockets default to priority 0 and the game tries to fill high priority pockets first, so if you pick up a pebble the game will default to your backpack. Once your backpack is full items will start going into pockets, so they act as extra storage when needed.
    Want to store ammo outside the backpack so you have it even when you drop your backpack? Set an ammo pouch to priority 10 and whitelist the ammo. With whitelists only the items on the whitelist are allowed in the pocket, and combined with a higher priority than the backpack (10 vs 5) the game will automatically see that ammo pouch as the best place to put your ammo.

    Tips for new players:
    1. If you find a small boulder, wield a rock using the 'w' key (then use arrow keys to select the rock and press the 'Enter/Return' key), and then smash 's' key followed by direction of the boulder. Eventually the boulder will break and drop a lot of rocks.
    2. You can batch make items by going into the crafting menu, selecting the craft you want to make, and pressing the 'b' key. Then you can choose how many times you want to make that craft. Also, in the main game window, one can repeat their last craft by pressing the '-' (dash/hyphen/minus) key.

    Worth mentioning that Taekwondo is a martial arts you can use while holding something (eg a sling), since it's all kicks. So you can shoot something until it gets into melee range and then kick it to death while still holding your ranged weapon. Caution: hard to give up once you've tried it though, like infidelity.

    • @mutantwormgirl
      @mutantwormgirl  Год назад +1

      The weariness calculations are pretty complicated, I'd be interested to know more about your situation. One big thing is that if your body is low on stored calories (ie underweight), you'll actually recover more slowly, I think injury might also contribute. Age and body size can also be a factor, but unless you are heavily mutated or extremely old, it shouldn't be a factor.
      Are you running any CBMs? The metabolic battery charger will prevent you from properly resting as it's leeching off your body's energy stores. The only other thing I can think of is if you're super overburdened, it might be negatively impacting your rest rate.

      @Kordian459 Год назад

      @@mutantwormgirl Sorry I'm late but only managed to have some time now.
      Since I have fitness band I keep track of nutrients and calories, and I always go to sleep with 200 more calories than the ones spent before sleeping. I also have 100% on iron, calcium and vit C.
      My character is normal weight.
      Traits: Fast Lerner, Indefatigable, Pack Mule,Glass Jaws, Mood Swings, Rigid Table manners and Wool Allergy.
      He's 24yo, 200 Health, 24 Health modifier (feel great)
      Athletic skill: 3
      I've tried again and, yes, he still can't fully recover from light weary half bar while sleeping, so I usually can craft stuff for a limited amount of hours.
      Last thing: I'm currently on summer, dunno if heat can affect recovery.

    It's weird how weak a basic sling is in this game, considering how in real life a good sling can send a pebble or ball bearing downrange with the force of a bullet...

    • @h1tsc4n40
      @h1tsc4n40 Год назад

      I'd say it's pretty accurate. Real slings are nowhere near as powerful as a handgun is. Yes there's some mouthbreathers who both up some maths and unironically think that a small sling is just as powerful as a 9x19 handgun but it's.... not even close. And we're using it against zombies in game, who don't feel pain. So that extra stopping power really makes a difference.

      @@rustyshackleford1508 sling projectiles generally achieve a velocity of around 160 km/h.
      A 9x19 bullet usually flies at around 1200/1300 km/h
      I'd say there is a slight difference. Just because you get a supersonic crack from the sling does not mean the projectile is anywhere near reaching supersonic speed. Not to mention, that the projectile itself is ill suited for penetration, as it's shape favors it crushing rather than piercing, which makes it even less effective. The 9x19 bullet is small, and shaped correctly for a penetrating effect.
      A well placed sling shot will kill you, but so will a not as well placed handgun shot. And my money is definitely on the handgun.
      Oh i should mention, those speeds are achieved by individuals who are very well trained in using slings, which our character in game is most likely not.
      It's almost like there is a reason we're using guns instead of slings in war eh?

Get yourself a suppressed pistol caliber carbine and you're set for a very long time. Otherwise you can sneak into a FEMA camp and snatch an M4 from the armory.
