- In this step-by-step overview video, get an overview of everything that is new in the Windows 11 insiders preview build (22000.51). Microsoft released the insider preview on Monday and there are lots of new features and capabilities to explore. We start by looking at the task bar and how it's centered aligned. We also look at how to configure settings to move it back to the left. Next, we move to the start menu and how you can personalize the look and feel. Next, we explore how search and settings have changed compared to what was available in Windows 10. We then test out snapping and snapping groups. With snap groups, you can quickly restore a collection of snapped apps. We then look at virtual desktops and how you can personalize each individual desktop. Widgets are up next where you can see weather, news, sport scores, stocks, and more. We also customize the experience. We continue to the system tray, the action center, file explorer, and finish with the Microsoft Store and XBOX apps. Android apps and Teams integration are not yet available in the inside build.

Kevin's video are always amazing, You are a major part of my growth in the knowledge of windows ❤️
Thanks Kevin I was looking for this video!
I watched couple other videos on Windows 11 review. But by far your video is the best. Thanks for up-close view with the zooming and going into details of the internal options of file explorer and other features.
Going to start calling you Mr. Microsoft, MM. You are the true “Insider”. Keep on putting them out. Make more here than MS. Great video as per your Hi Standard. We should start a Podcast. Your the teacher and I am the old man student. Great learning from the new generation.
Agreed! Kevin your videos are so easy to understand and go into amazing detail. Keep it up man!
I feel the need to tell you that this is a splendid video. More so, I really really appreciate that you get straight to the point and most importantly; no jokes and no exaggerated speak. Subbed.
more than the centered menu and task bar i loved the consistant rounded corners on every window
look beautiful 😸
Kevin's videos are the best. I feel like watching every videos of him. Never get bored. Favourite feature: Icon changes and Centred start menu.👌👀
Just discovered this channel. You earned a new sub! Keep it up!!!!!
How to add icons on taskbar over flow menu? I'm not able to add icons which I wish. In window 10 I added netspeed monitor in my taskbar corner. In window 11 I'm not able to add that in taskbar. How to add this?
Who cares if I’m in school, must watch the Kevin stratvert vids
Same bro...but seeing it now
You can say online class because schools didn't open till now
In India, at least for the western part, the schools reopened online on 15th June!
LOL in singapore school holidays ended on Monday
@@gradientO There are such things as Time Zones
So far so good I'm loving the UI!
Windows 10 or Windows 11, Kevin's cursor highlighter will always be blue. So does his viewers will always support him and more and more people come to join a family. This is what I like to call "Growing on RUclips"
you definitely wrote this comment when you were high
@@arjunarun9147😂no cap
Kevin your videos always help me
Awesome video! The Recommended section seems to be open now, I was coding yesterday and today it recommended some of the Python files I created.
Thanks for helping to show us Windows 11 you are a great instructor that makes computer programs less scary & overwhelming to learn and navigate
Great vid! Quick question on virtual desktops. From your video, you noted that you can personalize different desktops you create. Does that include having different screen resolutions for different desktops? Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Is there an ability to save virtual desktops and have them available after reboot?
You can also customize the print screen button to open snipping tools, the good one.
This is amazing! You are a GEM.... You earned a Subscriber! :)
How different do you think the Beta version will be from the final one?
@2:04 you're the first video maker I see, explaining the Drag to customize the Start menu is still a thing. God bless you.
Thanks Kevin, you are the true Insider 😎💯🤘
Restarting now. Excited for the new features.
I like the settings to have different wallpapers on different virtual desktops. This will come in handy a lot.
Serious question. What do you even need a different virtual desktop for?
@@philip7922 In simple words it comes in handy when you need to have a lot of apps open in the background.
Consider this analogy:-
You have 4 desks at home and about 20 official gov papers, 30 papers related to your academics, 30 papers related to the business you are currently running and about 20 papers being related to multiple different things that are not so important (miscellaneous).
Now you have this much space on every single desk (virtual desktop) that you can keep all of the 100 papers (windows) on one but this will result in bundles being thicker. In this case it would not be necessary but surely comfortable to keep different category of papers on different desks as this will reduce the size of bundles. Not only that switching between them will also be a breeze as you will be confident about what category of papers you are dealing with currently and adjust your attention and focus accordingly.
Now lets consider the scenario that you have to do the above set of tasks every single day as a part of a job (it is unrealistic but lets just say). Just think the amount of time and effort you can save over a long period of time by using multiple desks (virtual desktops).
I hope you get the idea.
Now for the time being it is not possible to distinguish between the different desktops if you switch using shortcut keys (which is the fastest and seamless way) except by getting a look at the windows themselves (papers) it contains and if it doesn't contain any window then it takes one more step to determine the desktop you are on. Having different wallpapers on each will surely help in identifying different desktops.
Beautiful nice tutorial from the teacher, i like it.
Great video! I arrived home today from a long walk to discover that Windows 11 had installed itself on my desktop system, which Windows Insider had told me was unable to run Windows 11 when I tried to update it a few days ago, as my system does not have secure boot or TPM 2.0. Very interesting.
So I have been playing around with it and have found it to run as smooth as Windows 10 was running, in other words, it runs very well, it is very quick and every program or app I have tried so far is running perfectly. I have noticed that when I install the taskbar on both of my displays, it only shows icons on the main display and the second display remains blank, no matter how it is configured. I am also disappointed that the Android subsystem is not included yet so I am still running BlueStacks 5.0 Beta which is running very smoothly. Other than that, I love it so far and will be digging into it in depth over the next few days.
Is there a Video Editor in Windows 11 in the Insider Preview?
Great video Kevin. Always great and a good teacher for us. Thanks for this informative videos Kevin cannot sleep before Kevin posts the video. 😀😀😀
Cool review Kevin...thanks. For me, the best feature is the Multiple screen window docking.
Absolutely great, keep it up man 😎
I always found the 'legacy settings' like network adapter properties and sound properties way more useful than what you find in the actual settings app.
They have more functionality, but can be pretty cumbersome for an average tech user nowadays (especially the ones who grew up on tablets and smartphones). Therefore it makes more sense to frontload all the primary settings in a tidy menu that everyone can handle, and hide all the "power tools" in a separate place for experienced folks.
Agreed. I hope there is always the option for legacy settings.
Can we pin different apps to the taskbar of different desktops?
Kevin say if your windows system dosent meet the requirements would you reccomend using the inside program?
need an option to disable recent view on start and make the start full height
Can you pin folders to Start, or just apps?
Can you move virtual desktops around? Move excel desktop to be your second desktop Instead of the first?
Great video , really informative and well spoken. Thank you
Not digging these rounded corners. Any idea if there is or will be an option in settings to bring back sharp corners?
Really enjoy your videos, can you tell me how you got so many apps on your task bar, I cannot pin anything to mine.
Nice walk through. Are Photos, Calendar and Mail updated yet? Haven't seen anything about them from anyone yet
Currently in W10, when you search it does not show results from the "People" app. Despite there even being a "People" section above the search bar. Will W11 search the mail/calendar/people apps ? Also, any changes to mail/calendar? I've been scouring YT to try and find some W11 reviews that talk about the core apps.. but everyone just seems to be fixated on the taskbar and window snapping changes. Please tell me those are not the only changes in W11... please tell me the underlying apps have also been upgrated with new features. lol. I doubt it thought.
Should I install Windows 11 on my main PC?
for settings i noticed when clicking on personalization its lagging when i want to change background
What will happen my file and installed software on windows 10, when I update to windows 11?
can you make a vid explaining the diff between ftpm 2.0 and tpm 2.0 on my pc i have ftpm 2.0, can i upgrade to win 11?
Cool
Woah this look's amazing!
I was attending school when I saw that this video was released, now it is over so now I am watching.
If I join the insider program now then what happens when the official windows is released? will i get an update and my system will run on released windows or will i have to perform a clean installation? and one more thing will i lose my original key while doing so?
Helpful and informative 👌
I love your vids man!
Does my surface 7 i7 qualify?
How about a video on moving windows 10 pro digital licenses from non upgradable older PC's to htper-v & then upgrading to win 11 on the virtual machine
Great video, Kevin. I wonder if maybe down the road you could demonstrate another Win 11 video based on IT Tech kind of stuff. Like how much of that has changed and where all the techie power tools are and how they are accessed. Thanks for considering. I'm sure there will still be regedit, task manager, disk manager, performance monitor etc.
Have you ever considered MMC? I learnt about it from my teacher a few days back. You can gather all your admin tools in one place and save it for frequent use. I got excited after learning about it!
Hello, can anyone help me how to access the refresh icon? I have upgraded and now I don't see it. Thanks
does the update to windows 11 make your computer slower?
Please can you help , I I've just watched couple of your videos ( about screen recording softwares ) , and downloaded obs , but when I finish recording a game , and open the video to see it the is in the top left corner of the screen , I don't know what to do
Amazing Video Kevin
I really like the revamped start menu and explorer app. I am not sure I will use the multiple desktops that much though.
I want them to allow us to customize our files to different colors, it will make our work much easier and organized:)
Great idea
Great video, Kevin. I like many of the W/11 features, but there are some deal breakers for me: (e.g. Edge default browser, and only a Developer download). I'm afraid the Developer download is too risky at this time so I'd just as soon wait 60-90 days and watch the feedback. So perhaps a follow-up video in XX days would be a good idea for many viewers. Thanks again for great quality.
What will have to preview when release occurs
I would love to enter Insider, but is it safe do install Win 11?
Hi, can someone tell me if regular desktop apps that ran in windows 10 will work in windows 11?
Amazing video, as usual.
Hi kev, can u make a video on how to update tpm 1.2 to 2.0 pls
Is it available for Skylake i3 7020???
what about YOUR PHONE app in window 11?? Is that available in window 11 for all phones or just Samsung !!
Haha, you always look cool in the Sun Glass!
Very helpful videos will I loose my pictures and other data if I take the update to 11
no
With this windows 11 I can now use touchscreen boards, that surprised me and I hope this compatibility stays...
Was hoping for a file explorer that adheres to the design language of UWP App
Wow that was a good discourse.
Is this the full update?
When switching from Windows 10 to 11, will the present setting I use in 10 be carried over to 11?
All my settings have moved seamlessly over to Windows 11 from Windows 10. So far, I have not found anything that has lost its configuration, other than my audio enhancement options, such as LOUDNESS and EQUALIZER, which I always have to reconfigure after any system update for some reason.
So informative and useful.....Love from Sri lanka......💖💖💖
Can I lock all the virtual desktops?
How is compatibility with 3rd party apps?
TPM is working but secure boot is not I upgraded motherboard ran sysprep enabled secure boot on my gen21 mono and i7 gen11
Hi, I exported an excel to a PDF for the first time. I had to click the "publish" tab to complete the process and it was saved on my PC. Is the new pdf file now published onto the Internet or is it just saved on my PC?? Is the pdf file accessible to the public? The word "publish" threw me off a bit.
Is there a "dark mode" in notepad?
is it full thing?
A pro of being a insider developer for microsoft windows
Great videos bruh
Amazing
Thanks for sharing
hello Kevin, I am wondering if you would be able to tell me if all programs which are not Windows 10 compatible but do run on Windows 10 will run on windows 11 I am not planning to change over to windows 11 probably until next year another question is will windows 11 have install farm server like Windows 10 the last couple of versions looking forward to watching all your videos on windows 11 and getting your feedback one thing I was put off by when I first saw Windows 10 what you have shown in this video how you can left align the taskbar items which I feel is good thing for people like myself who are left handed hopefully I will be able to find out what the minimum requirements for Windows 11 is my oldest machine has 16 gigabytes of ram my friends oldest machine has 12 gigabytes of ram would love to hear you forts on this Michelle from New Zealand
Will it ask for windows activation ?
The new Windows 11 UI looks so clean and futuristic 👌🏾😍😁
Yeah... it looks like they brought Aero back from the grave (Windows Vista and 7...) and applied it to a more refined Windows 10... Amazing how the thing people complained about disappearing comes back after 10 years.
How do I get my audio to work after I update Windows? Each time I update, my audio stops working and I have to revert to a previous version of Windows.
Most likely audio drivers
i was hoping i had more options when i right click on task bar rather than just "taskbar setting" , when i saw this on leaked one i thought they will change it but now its officially insider build so i don't think they gonna change . but hope are still there
Great video as always, I'm really not that interested in upgrading to Windows 11, will they drop Windows 10 update eventually?
As far as I know Windows will continue to Support Windows 10 until sometime in 2025, don't know the exact date.
May be you know. What about Intel 7th Gen CPU support?
Thanks Kevin, you are the best :) I agree the search and main menu should be integrated, menu within menu should be eliminated or at least unified so that big-space menu should not open small-space menu, and legacy controls should be eliminated altogether.
Did they just return Windows games? I just saw Solitare!
I have a question, if tou upgrade your graphic card will it delete any files ?
no. the graphics unit is separate from the storage unit of the pc.
i like the virtual desktop and widget!
Thanks again Kevin 👍
awesome video 👍. Actually, my laptop has all system requirements for windows 11 but unfortunately the processor is an Intel 7th gen which means i can't upgrade to windows 11. 😔 I want to ask if it is possible to upgrade the processor of this laptop or should i just completely buy a new one after 2025? (i really don't want to buy a new one as this one is still just over a year old.)
Just use 10 you are not missing out on performance.
I'm a bit annoyed that they removed the time from the popup calendar. It's a lot easier to see (for me) than the taskbar time. Fortunately, I found an app in the MS Store to take its place. But why remove it in the first place?
After watching your video I tried to join windows insider program, but after clicking on Get Started, a message appears "We aren't able to talk to our services at moment, please try again later" I'm trying again and again but same message appears. I'm currently using legal version of Windows 10 Home Single Language 21H1. Please help me out with this.
