- Learn about 5 software programs that are actually really good and free. I personally use all of these applications on a near daily basis to support my RUclips channel.
We start with Audacity, a free and open-source digital audio editor and recording application software, available for Windows, macOS, Linux, and other Unix-like operating systems.
Next, we look at DaVinci Resolve, a color correction and non-linear video editing (NLE) application for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
Third, we look at OBS Studio (Open Broadcaster Software), is a free and open-source cross-platform streaming and recording program built with Qt and maintained by the OBS Project.
Fourth, we look at VLC media player, a free and open-source, portable, cross-platform media player software and streaming media server developed by the VideoLAN project. The default distribution of VLC includes many free decoding and encoding libraries, avoiding the need for finding/calibrating proprietary plugins.
Lastly, we look at LibreOffice, a free and open-source office productivity software suite, a project of The Document Foundation (TDF).
As a bonus at the end, we look at Paint.net, a freeware raster graphics editor program for Microsoft Windows, developed on the .NET Framework.

I love the VLC media player. It can be extremely helpful! Great vid Kevin! :)
Those in 2021, who didnt know about VLC media player, heres to you, you finally made it.
Although I have been using these tools for years, I have learned some new stuff from this video. Thank you!
wow these softwares are literally amazing and helpful . thanks kevin
Thanks for the tip about editing PDFs in Draw. Never knew I could do that.
This is so amazing🙂👌
Great job Kevin!
I've been using VLC for 7 years and I just found out it can convert media, Thank you
Very nice and informative video sir, thank you so much for this. 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
I think you need to make a video about Microsoft todo, lists, planner, tasks for teams and when to use what from Microsoft’s perspective or which is best for what hope that makes sense. Keep up the good work!
Great video with extra video tutorials. Awesome job mate.
Fantastic line up of very useful software - thanks Kevin 😊
I use Audacity for recording and mixing multiple music tracks. I love it.
Clear simple and practical (and so very useful) advice on these programmes. Thanks
Great suggestions. I would add Inkscape. Very usefull for drawing (it's vectoriel) free hand or technical for the Maker crowd! Aufacity and OBS are very usefull.
Great vid. Detailed but to the point, extremely useful and really helpful. Thank you!
Really good recommendations Kevin. I love Audacity and VLC. In fact, I don't even bother with other media players because they are all so twitchy...almost never have a problem with VLC. BTW, I want to congratulate you on the amazing work you are doing...it is all so easy to understand and truly helpful. And, I do wonder...do you ever sleep! :)
I already use VLC, Da Vinci and OBS but your other apps were very useful and fantastic, great video!!
Awesome video Kevin! I've been using the others, but DaVinci is new to me. Thank you so much for your channel! I work in education and have been using OBS Studio this year. One thing I've been experimenting with recently is producing side by side 3d content. I basically just hooked up 2 identical webcameras (Logitech C270) and captured the video. I think it has a lot of potential in education: it's more immersive quaility can be a huge advantage!
This is excellent. Thank you for sharing these, Kevin.
Love from India, Kerala.♥️
You’re very precious to us ! Thank you so much
Thanks a lot Kevin! really helped me 😎
GREAT VIDEO! I have 3 of the 5 and really enjoy them.
Great summary! Thanks for sharing. I'd used Audacity a lot years ago, but hadn't loaded it on my latest PC. Will load again now that you've reminded me how useful it is. I hadn't seen or used the others but I'm very interested in exploring each. Thanks again

Great tools, Kevin. Thank you very much.
For pictures one of my favorite software has been Irfanview. One of the best thing is that it contains a really simple way of doing "batch" conversion of complete libraries. It has been around forever it seems but I still use it a lot.
always one of my first applications i put on a new computer. The batch conversion tool is brilliant, but it is really fast for previewing as well - great for setting up slideshows and in a pinch - digital signage.
Same here. 20+ years utilizer.
Hey Irfanviewer! 15+ years as my default viewer!
My personal favorite suggestions
1. Blender
2. Inkscape
3. Gimp
4. Shotcut
5. Krita
6. Pinta
7. Kdenlive basically any GNU open source software
Great list! 👍
Those are some useful suggestions! Thank you for sharing these.
I employ all but Davinci, since my company provides me with a commercial video editory.
