What is the MPG???
Kudos to Honda for keeping the manual transmission alive!
Kudos to Honda for finally putting a manual back in an Acura. I don’t think we’ve had one since the last generation TL ~9 years ago.
On the other hand, at least Honda has never stopped producing the civic SI across the US
@@lilblingking1491 ILX had one.
@@lilblingking1491 I'm happy that Honda at least gives a little effort to please their customers. Other brands will argue with customers how automatics are more efficient and just as if not better than a manual transmission. Honda keeps a manual transmission still an option in some of their cars; other brands will short-change us with some bullshit excuse.
I got a 2021 Civic Sport hatchback and it's one of my favorite cars I've driven. It begs the question of why Honda and Toyota are trying to get manuals back into their lineup. And not blame it on design budget restrictions.
Also these shit times with gas hitting record highs, my Civic is most efficient for me at 39-42 MPG efficiency. The best performance I have owned and it's fun to drive!
@@andry4313 I think most manufacturers still have a sporty model or two that offers a manual. I know chevy, Ford, and dodge does. So many people don't know how to drive manual in the states though.
@@DoWorkNP It seems like they are making a comeback in some brands. People were pissed off that Toyota didn't make the new Supra manual up until 2023 when they are making it an option finally. They probably saw how people were chopping up Supras to make them manual and they just said: OKAY okay!!
People act like the old Integras weren't just slightly fancier Civics in the first place
They had an identity, this doesnt
@@Kris-xs7kc Define identity
Also the type r integra was faster than the type r civic, Can we expect the integra type s to be faster than new type r
You can still spot an old integra a mile away, nobody would care to remember this one. Civic and integra looked different. Google some pics
the integra was a generation behind the civic, it had the driving characteristics of an eg with the comfort of an ek.
I don't usually comment on the audio performance, but through my headphones that actually sounded like an audio track was added in post editing. Wow, ELS delivers. Excited for when this car is regularly available to test drive and markups aren't insane anymore.
If it's anything like my 18tlx then yes it's a beast of an audio system.
@@sspringss2727 The new sound systems starting in the 2019 RDX and 2022 TLX and MDX are fantastic. The 2018 TLX is not even in the same league as the new systems.
@@ianandrews5988 Ikt they are better... my 18 tlx remark was a base reference.
Markups will remain insane as long as people are willing to pay thousands more than what the vehicles are worth. Until potential customers walk away from the dealership and say no thanks, we can expect to see price gouging continue.
@@sspringss2727 Shit my 2008 Type S has a phenomenal audio system. STILL beats out some new cars i've sat in, Acura really knows how to do proper audio.
Being able to pick up the sound quality of the audio system thru this video is quite astonishing. 🎼🎼🎼🔥🔥🔥
Describing as ‘slow fast’ is exactly how I expect it to feel. Perfect way to put it.
16:47 is all i want. some solid tunes, a fun manual car, a good road and just cruise through at 5/10. watching it literally cut my stress in half.
I can barely hear the engine over the music, I an falling asleep.. I can see this as a nice GT car and all rounder.. no longer a boy racer Civic / Integra..
Agree that is the dream! Plus it has a hatch perfect for a long road trips.

This is a really tempting package. Though for almost $37k I'd gravitate toward something with more performance like a GTI. You definitely get a nicer interior in the Acura though, can't deny that. Hopefully we get a type-s/type-r
Vw reliability is laughable compared to Japanese
@@elianmorales4855 not the new gti/golfs
I had a MK6 GLI for awhile that gave me zero issues. My family buys VWs often and we've had good luck with them, the newer ones are pretty dependable imo
Gti has more power but its not that fun to rev out on the corners. Everydaydriver and throttle house say the same
@@gearhead196 thank u , cause its all about how the owner takes care of it. Same for damn near any car aha
Thanks for adding the bit about the audio system. This is more of a factor now than it used to be due to the difficulty of upgrading to an aftermarket system. I'm definitely leaning toward the new Integra.
Just bought the Integra with the 6 speed manual. I can't say enough about how happy I am with this machine! The cornering is tight when I tackle them at a high speed like it's on rails! The gearbox is the best in the business and it shows. Very forgiving and buttery smooth throws. ELS sound system is one of the best I've had in a car. Sportback hatch makes the Integra functional, especially when I need to transport my road bike to a ride or a crit. Could be faster than 200hp but for my needs and the gas prices these days, the engine sips fuel and has more than adequate torque and fun factor that goes along with it. People often draw comparisons to the GTI but VW reliability has a checkered history. I had a 2012 Acura TL 6 speed for 5 years and had no major repairs or issues. Same with the Infiniti. Audi... I had major engine issues. I would choose Japanese any day over VW/Audi (or German for that matter) for reliability alone.
Great review. Especially the driving segment. And at 7:09 when you cleaned your shoes before entering the car. Classic.
Correct term would be dust it off but yeee
This is a good vehicle in for a daily driver. I have been waiting for this review for a while. Excellent job sir. That audio sounds amazing. The one thing holding me back is the type S version. For now, I think the Golf R would be my #1
Hey! You are the ZL1 guy!! Hahaha
isn't the golf R quite a bit more expensive?
@@Keepitwarmer 😆 guilty
@@ogmechsftw the Golf R is up there in price.
Yeah but .. if the A spec technology is 37k+ ... Wouldn't the type s be closer to 50k?
the integra was straight up not always a 4 door sedan. you never see sedans ever unless its the first gen. but the "golden era" integras were almost exclusively dc2 body style, not db8s
Yeah definitely not “meant to be a sedan”
@@ADUSN this car really flopped for my expectations. This is not a teggy. Lots of luxury, none of the fun. Just too big.
I am always on the lookout for your reviews. Honest and through touching on all aspects of cars. Thank You!
My favorite car of all time was my 1989 Acura Integra LS. That car was such a pleasure to drive and everything screamed quality. It's hard to believe the engine only generated 113hp compared to this version that now starts with 200hp. Even my 1994 Integra only had 140hp. But it sounds like the new Integra presses a lot of the same buttons as my 89, with a satisfying gearbox, great ride quality, solid handling, sweet engine noises, and a nice design.
The 0-60 is so slow....
This car for 37K should have had the Accord 2.0 to differentiate it from the SI.
Exactly. Why would anyone buy this for 37k when there’s so many better options out there.
Agreed, though the starting price is closer to 30k. I think for a dressed up SI its reasonable. Though as you approach 40k it definitely would be nice if the 2.0t was an option.
I agree.. 1.5 is pathetic!
I don't mind the 1.5T in the base Integra but I do think Acura should have tuned it to 220hp to distinguish it more from the Civic Si. The Type S version should definitely have a variant of the 2.0T engine and I wouldn't consider purchasing it otherwise.
Exactly. 1.5 is a complete joke.
Hey Chris if you have to daily one would you daily this integra or maybe when it comes in type s form or would you get a Stinger GT instead
That audio at 16 minutes, even through my desktop Klipsch 2.1 speakers it sounds awesome. Looks like a nice chill daily I wouldn't mind having.
Loved your thorough review and road test! Nice job 👍👍
With all the reviews you have done, if you had to rank affordable sedans for the average person, as daily driver for long haul, manual and automatic, how would you rank them?
I was ragging on this car at first. Saw one in person. Traded in my 22 si for it. They offered me 10k over msrp for my si LOL. The car is actually really freaking nice. If you like the new si youll love this.
I just made a similar choice. Was looking at the Si. Dealers wanted $39-41k for it. Got the Integra for $37k. No brainer.
this really reminds me of my 6spd 2nd gen tsx. God I miss that car. Transmission in that was beautiful to row, and this looks like it would be similar
Phenomenal driving as usual
Manual gearbox!! Thank you Acura!
Nice review. With gas prices high again, Honda Acura has again nailed the sweet spot balancing power and gas mileage. The S will be for those with the "need for speed." Otherwise, with the 6MT there's more than enough power for fun. In fact, they coulda made 6th a bit more of an overdrive for the highway.
Just checked out the sound system in the Integra. It sounds great. One thing no one has mentioned is the gas cap. It’s huge! Compared to my 2022 Si the seats are not as firm or bolstered. I will drive tomorrow.
Sound system wise do you prefer Acura's ELS systems or Lexus' Mark Levinson systems?
Will you be reviewing the automatic version of this car as well? Would be nice if this car had cooled/ventilated seats instead of just heated.
I think this turned out just like how Acura said it was, a integra designed like it was still in their lineup prior to this one. So in that perspective I think they nailed it.
that road has a lot of fun to drive this car. Wondering if a 6'3 person can fit well on it. Also can a 6' foot person fit on the second row? (wondering about the headroom space, if there is any difference with the Honda Civic Hatchback). Also, is it quieter than the honda civic (road noise)? Thanks!
Great review as always. Any plans on a 2022 wrx review soon?
Beautiful Acura Civic Si Señor edition!
I just love the Civic Symmetry styling resemblance on the interior dash layout. Honda/Acura has one of the best design languages out there lately.
Too bad they couldn’t decent Integra, this is a rebadged ILX
@@non-fictionaltoughguy1208 That comment just made you a fictional tough guy.
I think Honda are just sharing the same parts (the gauge cluster, honeycomb vents, heater dials and even the interior door handles) to save money unfortunately.
Can the "adaptive" part of "adaptive cruise control" be deactivated?
Great presentation👍
love your videos man, keep it up
Integras to me will always be a light, nimble, great handling car with a beautiful intake sound under the hood and then the vtec rush kicks in. Oh yeah....
That vtec rush! Going from 30mph to 40mph in 5 seconds... lol. Sounds real good though! Hahah
I still regard it as a Civic Touring Elite but, it’s definitely feature rich in ways the Civic will never be. All told, they should have called it the ILX.
At least the ILX had a 8 speed DCT. This only comes in CVT and manual
You mean like civics and integras have always been? Lol
I think they should have called the ILX Integra. It could have been underwhelming but the heritage is there.
Definitely should have.
So by your logic a Huracan must just be an Audi R8 “elite” or the Bentayga is just a VW Touareg “elite” 😂😂😂
Does the cruise control have the ability to be set to a specific number to follow the speed limit?
Keep my 2019 2.0T Touring Accord (lease ends in August) or go with this? Accord is modded out and extremely fun to drive, but the 21mpg I get is a PITA.. That 35ish mpg I'd get with this is appealing.
Just FYI, my Acura dealership isn't scummy and so there was $0 markup or "market adjustment" on mine. I can't wait to receive mine in red with orchid interior. As someone fast approaching 40, this totally ticks all the boxes!
How much did you get it for if you dont mind sharing dealer too?
This car ticks all the boxes if you’re 50 with a bad back, there’s nothing youthful about this car, I find it funny that they market it as that
No dealership is immune from taking advantage of people. Good for you for finding one you like.
@@non-fictionaltoughguy1208 where because i have yet to see this.
that's awesome. my local Honda won't even give me an Si for MSRP.
Honestly, for under $40k and all the luxuries you get (like the ELS sound system), this really isn’t a bad choice. Don’t buy this for max performance-to-dollar ratio (obviously), but this is otherwise a very nice daily driver with a 6MT.
Especially when you consider audi and meecedes are charging over $40k for similar power a3 and clas
@@ciello___8307 now consider a3 and clas have much better sound insulation. A lot of people who can buy a $37k car will pay $5k extra to not hear the road noise as much.
@@ciello___8307 audi charges like 2k for the remote start feature.
@@prs314 "will pay extra" is not an argument. You can always add "a little extra" and get something better.
@@shurik8969 sure, but in this segment people are paying extra for brands and comfort, including sound. Acura unfortunately is not a big brand anymore, and sound comfort was the worst thing they could have cut costs on.
Stereo is awesome just missing the DVD audio they used to have, is there an aux in for my high res music files
What are your favorite backroads in the Austin area? Asking so I can go the speed limit down them, of course
I want to see one of these compared to a GLI. My 2019 GLI was given all of the same praise as this Integra, but coming out of a modestly upgraded NC2 Miata I found it to be pretty boring to drive aside from the great acceleration. This seems to be in about the same class.
yep, I agree with you on the GLI. I bought 2023 GLI Dual clutch, and it shifts super fast and pulls, but not the most engaging ride. and the top of the line seats are too firm for my toosh. Looking to trade in. Not bad by any means, but looking for something else. I am revisiting the Integra, I rented for a week on Turo last year, and liked the seats, and the sound system blew away for GLI beats. And believe it or not, it was the cvt, was actually fun to drive.
I'm very curious about the quality of the ELS in the Integra. I own a 2019 TLX A-Spec, so it's the prior generation and I have only become more disenchanted with the stereo. Bass is quite lacking. You can get a little bit of bass response on certain tracks when you're listening with the engine off or at idle but as soon as you get going, the bass is lost. Boosting the bass and sub levels doesn't improve the sound much and will cause rattles or distortion in the rear deck lid. High and midrange frequencies tend to be a mess too. Some tracks sound "okay" others sound shouty. The overall sound lacks richness. I know a stereo isn't the only reason to buy a car but when we're talking about luxury daily driver cars like the TLX and new Integra, the stereo should sound good. Especially when it's touted as being a premium audio system. I'm curious how the ELS system sounds in the Acura MDX Type S, since their are more speakers in the MDX Type S than there are in other MDX trim levels. I wonder if the new flagship Acura in the highest trim level has a much better sound system that other Acura's or at least much better than the system in my TLX.
I agree with this. My dad had a 2019 tlx aspec, but now the system in his 2022 aspec is wayyyy better.
@@nate_23 Good to know. I thought about upgrading to a 2022 TLX Type S but with the way the car market is right now, I went with my brain vs. my heart. My brain said just keep driving the cart you already own. It's good to know they improved the ELS system in the next gen TLX. I actually still want to find an RLX with the Krell audio system, just to see how that sounds.
Try unplugging the front/rear or both mics to see if active noise cancellation is contributing when you're at speed. I wish there was a button to disable it.
Sound isolation is everything :).
Since the Integra with the stickshift is about the same price as the Accord Sport 2.0T, which one would you go for as an enthusiast, if you had a family of 4 and just needed a 2nd car for commuting and getting the kids to their wkend activities? I love the look of both and love stick. But, finding a car to testdrive is tough these days.
It looks good but nearly 40k for a Civic is obscene. I wish they got rid of the CVT as well
Its a fancy honda civic. They lied about resurecting the integra.
The Integra is always based on the Civic from the start, a true fan would know that.
@@Kris-xs7kc bruh the integra has always been a fancy civic…
@@CM-le4yh Exactly, but when the Civic is as good as it is, why buy this? Unless you realllllllly care about a more premium badge and the name stamped into the bumper this isn't great value. You're essentially spending 10k on a sound system, some red seats and a few styling tweaks. As someone that is looking at this as a small premium sedan, it's only real advantage over the european models is fuel economy and reliability.
Wtf you on about CVT?
Question! You sold me on the ‘22 Civic hatchback (6mt) after my car was totalled; couldn’t let the creature comforts go and pick the SI.
Is there a big enough difference to justify selling the civic (would lose VERY little) for this? Are the performance/handling differences between the two stark?
Is your Civic the Sport or Sport Touring? My wife has the Sport hatchback and I have the Integra, and this car is a big step up in performance and handling. And that’s not even a knock on the Civic, which I think is a joy to drive.
The manual transmission car rev matches on down shifts for you? Do you mean the synchros (which is different from rev matching)
Great review l! 20:07 So between a GLI and an integra, which one would you pick? I had a manual integra years ago but considering a DSG also. I could go either way
doesnt give me integra vibes looks kinda weird but overall its very clean and conservative
My biggest problem with the Integra is what Honda did with the Civic Si. Took away the amenities that the 10th gen Si already had, including adaptive dampers and then raised the cost of the 11th gen Si $2K. Then, added them all back into the top trim Integra A-Spec with Tech Pkg for $8K more. $8K more and you don't even get rear vents. It's a nice car, but definitely not worth $8K more than an Si with the same powertrain.
And for this price you could get a Veloster N which cooks the pants off it.
@a single white female
Or Elantra N, which is the only way to get the 10yr/100K powertrain warranty, since Hyundai discontinued the Veloster N, unless you buy CPO.
@@wbwayne8887 yeah but in North America we only get the Elantra N in a sedan, which is worse than a hatchback in every way.

I have a DC5 and I was so excited when the new íntegra was announced I was going to buy it ,but after it was fully unveiled along with the specs I was very disappointed. So I went and bought me a Infiniti Q60. After this review have confirmed I made the right choice.
Still an electronic E-Brake... I HATE THAT with my new Civic Si. I will go out of my way to make sure whatever car buy next still has a real E-Brake, it annoys me immensely.
agree, electric hand brakes are annoying
New z has manual handbrake
You get used to it.
@@Wheeliethai I've had my car for 4 years, I can confirm I still hate it and wish I had a regular E-brake.
@@ToroMoto I've had mine for about a year. Don't get me wrong I too would like a real physical handbrake, but I got used to it after a bit.
Wasn’t the type R 36k?
Yes
Msrp wise? Yes. I don't think I ever even saw a FK8 going for that. New ones were always marked up $45k-50k.
I’m considering an A-spec 6MT, and at that price point, older Type R’s are a competitive option. Do you have any suggestions on which way to go for a daily?
This looks way better than when it was introduced. Now i likey
Wow! Top Gun in theatres AND an all new Acura Integra? It really IS 1986 all over again. This was definitely on my short list if I came to my senses-I haven't and I already ordered a 2022 Miata Club 6 speed.
That’s a great choice, did you get the package that gets you the bbs wheels and the bramble brakes and Recaro seats?
@@ryangromoll9329 Oh yes. BBS wheels, Brembo brakes and those sweet, sweet Recaros. And in that gorgeous Soul Red Crystal George Mica ;). I've probably watched Toper's ND2Club POV video like 10 times. At LEAST. He's probably the main reason I ordered one.
@@AndreThompson925 awesome choice. Are you planning to use it as daily?
@@retrograde11 yep! I have an easy 7 mile commute. I can always trade with my wife, she can drive manual and she might like the change, and I'll just drive her CX-5, which is fun as well for a CUV
@@AndreThompson925 very cool. With 2 small kids I don't think I could make that work. So would need a different 4 door daily. So for me it's between single daily like new type r/golf r/grolla/Elantra N or keep my sonata and add mx5 for weekend. Of course there's the hassle of maintaing 3 cars ...
K20 Integra Typs S was the last great Type S. K20 engine in the type s and Si was Honda gifting us with the last great high revving/purist motor. These turboed Si’s and Integra is wrong.
The DC5 Integra RSX and 2002 Civic Si? Those two cars are truly Japanese legends.
I feel that if honda/acura gonna boost their engines they should at least make 220-230hp just to even be competitive as a base model. K20's made 200hp n/a 20 years ago. New typeS better have over 250hp to even justify the cost which I'm sure will be $39,999.98
The high-revving K20 engine has not emissions requirements for over 10 years unfortunately, that's why it was dropped. If you want the latest naturally aspirated VTEC compact car you can get, you could go with the K24 from the 9th gen Si or the ILX.
So, civic si at msrp or the integra 2k under msrp? That’s my current delimit
which camera do you use
This is basically like a luxury Integra LS if you think about. GSR will be the Type-S and of course, we need a Type-R!
This is literally a "luxury" Civic Si lol
Adaptive Dampers
Better sound system
Leather seats
Bigger cargo with the "hatch" (?)
the honeycomb grill in the dash being cut in half
an Acura logo
I think I listed all the changes between them..
I got the Maple Syrup version of the SI (canada) so maybe it has more difference with the Freedom version but idk... 10k more isn't justifiable at all
@@metalogic1580 The leather is higher quality than what you get in a Honda. Driver seat is 12-way
ELS Studio is a top shelf system. The kind you usually pay two grand for.
More aggressive exhaust
Wireless Android and CarPlay
Plus stuff our Si is missing.
Digital dash
Heated seats
HUD
Fog lights
Wireless charger
Are you guys giving Honda some secret maple syrup for the extra goodies?
@@DragonKnightX12 yeah but the ELS isn't 2k more than the Bose in the Si, leather that's true, and everything else you listed we have it here stock in Canada. So I agree that the integra may be a better deal in the US but here the Si is the logical choice imo...
You haven’t owned an actual GSR integra have you?
@@metalogic1580 It’s definitely gonna blow the Bose away. lol
Bose is generally barely above the nameless OEM systems.
Depends on what you want. The Integra is more Entry luxury car. The ride is gonna be a lot more comfy.
I really wanted to like this car but I just can’t :(
I’m so glad I kept my 99 Type R Integra (78,000 miles) and my 2007 WRX STI Hawkeye (45,000 miles) as both cars have shot up in value, and no WRX STI or Civic afterwards have ever driven as good as those two have. Both my Type R and STI are bone stock as well which is even better.
The old days aren’t coming back, I’m grateful I didn’t sell my cars for something new, as they aren’t as good!
Always enjoy your POV vids 👍🏻
yup 100% agree. Had a stock 2012 sti blew up a turbo and two engines had ringlang failure. Sued subaru and baught a 19 camaro ss.
Did u buy your type r new. ?
can you get the technology package as an automatic ?
So why they got rid of double circle Integra head light?
