A little bit about me....my name is Frannie, and I live in the US. I am a mom/stepmom of 6. When my nest emptied, I needed to find places to focus my energy. I fell in love with crocheting and yarn. I'm still learning...it seems there's an endless supply of techniques and projects. Join me on my crochet journey...let's learn together.💕 Хобби

HI Frannie I have just finished a pair of these mittens :) I will send in photo to show you :) great tutorial thank you heaps :)
Awesome! I can't wait to see them!❤️
Thank you so much for this video! I've been looking for a easy mitten, I've tried others that left me frustrated 🥴 and they go 100 miles an hour seems like it. This one popped up on my feed and I decided to watch, thinking if this one doesn't work I'm going to take a break from trying the so called easy mittens, well it was worth the wait and time! Thank you again for making it understandable and easy for real.
I'm so glad you liked it!😘🧶
@@FranniesHair Again thank you I finally completed one! What a blessing you're this channel shall be my number 1 choice, I am self teaching with your help now.
Thankyou Frannie
My pleasure, Catherine! How are you?
I'm trying to smitten with two strands of yarn. But I've got to tell you I love your thumb and that is so pretty
Don't forget to send pics and descriptions of your mittens for Show & Tell! (franniessquare@gmail.com)❤
Fabulous Thank you.
My pleasure, Shara!❤️
I Love it. 44:47
Woohoo! I have been waiting for this one 😇
I hope you like it!😘❤
Thank you for sharing this!
It could also be used for fingerless gloves. ❤️
Absolutely! I love fingerless gloves!😊🧶
Oh hey you use Tulip Etimo hooks! So do I! I wish that they would make the larger sizes. Maybe they do it's just that I haven't found them yet. Great mitts! I appreciate a channel that actually understands cold climates. It's been -17°F (-22°F thereabouts at night) for a week now. 😆
Wow! That is cold! I think I'd go 100% wool there...maybe even with some cables thrown in for thickness! Yes, I love the Etimo hooks. Before I used them, I was a Clover girl, but I find myself reaching for the Etimo all the time now. I'll have to look and see if I can find bigger sizes of them.🧶❤️
The way I got rid of the was to go down into the next row and use that stitch
Great! I'd love to see a pic!
I can't imagine living somewhere that gets cold enough to wear such thick mittens 🥶🥶🥶 I think I'll make some in DK #3 yarn, which is really the beauty of your pattern process: any yarn, any hook and made to measure.
I can’t wait to see yours!🧶❤️
On days like today -40°Celsius with the wind chill if you are going to be outside for very long I wear a pair of gloves under the mitts!
I’m making a mitten, but it’s not for me, u however r her size. The chunky that u used is a good match for me. I’m so glad I found your channel. Most use a thinner wool and the stitches didn’t work with the kind I have, it’s called paint box what im using. I wish u could make the make both mitts. I have trouble
with changing the sides. I dont have the person close, so I’m guessing about the measurement. All I know is that her size is 10 in from wrist to tip of fingers. How do u make the right mitten?
Thanks in advance
I just use the same measurements and make 2 of them. There really is not front or back...so you just flip it over and put it on the other hand. I'd love to see pics when you are done!❤️
Do u not makes sc in the ribbing?
I thought I heard u say to do slip stitches!
When I stitched the ribbing together, I just used slip stitches so that it wouldn't be too thick of a seam. Then my first round above the ribbing starts the rounds of single crochets.💕
Seems easy enough...
I'd love to see your mittens when you make them. I saw your comment asking about a written pattern. I would suggest following this tutorial for one of the mittens - noting the number of stitches you use each step of the way. Then you will have a written pattern to fit your hands.😁🧶
As long as I've crocheted, I've never made mittens. I have some merino I got on sale at premier that I think would make good mittens. I don't like working with chunky yarn. I can see how it works up fast but are they bulky? I've been under the weather for way too long so maybe this will help get me back on track. I'll start with making some for granddaughter. It's 19 currently so wool is needed 🐑🐏🐏🐑
Wow, I'm surprised that you haven't made mittens. It's true that the bulkier yarns make bulkier mittens. I use the less bulky mittens when I drive, but when I'm out walking in the neighborhood, I like the bulky ones. I can't wait to see the mittens you make!🧶❤️
Can you use two strands of yarn together to make these mittens?
You absolutely can. I’d use 2 lighter weight yarns so it’s not too thick. I’d love to see yours when you’re done.🧶❤️
Am looking for an easy pattern print out...no fancy mitt please
Here is a link to Lion Brand's free patterns (mittens) page. Maybe you can find one here that you like. www.lionbrand.com/search?q=mitten. I'd love to see what you choose to make.
I see you've gone up in your subscribers. {I'm waiting for it to reach the 3,000 mark! ;-) }
Me too! Can’t wait to giveaway that yarn!🧶😁
@@FranniesHair Me too! It will be the first yarn giveaway I've entered. 🙂
How do y make the palm of your hand wider, how many extra stitches do i add?
Sorry have never made mits
No need to apologize. I have fairly small hands so I didn’t need to increase for my palms. If you think you do need to increase, I would do a few increases around after the initial round of single crochets (after you sewed up the ribbing). I would start by interspersing 3 to 4 increase stitches in the round. Then do your next round with all single crochets. Then put your hand in to see how it fits. If you still need it to be wider, add a few more increase stitches in the next round. Does that make sense?
@@FranniesHair the mits r not for me, but someone else, who has much bigger hands than I do, so what I’m doing is making the mits very roomy and the thumb i dont hiw mind looks, to wide
@@FranniesHairthanks for suggestion❤️
I find with bulky chunky yarn, that if u have to frog, the fibres get caught and stick to each other, very frustrating!😡
Yes, that is a down side to any fuzzy fiber.😒
It's been over a week since you've made the mittens. Am I missing a new post?
No Charlotte. I have painters and the electrician here, so it's been impossible for me to film. They should be done by the end of this week or early next week...then I'll be back up and running with my old schedule of posting every week (at least once😁). It really makes me happy to know that you are looking forward to more posts!❤️
How you make them for 8 year old
Hi Melody, Here is a link for kids mittens of varying sizes: www.yarnspirations.com/caron-hands-full-crochet-mittens/CAC0315-004044M.html
Let me know if this works for you.❤️
I dont understand why am I getting holes in some of the stitches, im using what yarn says to , yet I’m still getting holes under the stitches, my tension is even also!!!??????
Can you send me a picture to franniessquare@gmail.com? It will be easier if I can see what is happening.
@@FranniesHair su
Sure can
Just did that
What do u think of my mit?
Waiting for your approval 🤗
Did you send a pic? I didn't get it yet. Where did you send it?
@@FranniesHair yes I’ve sent 2 times now
@@FranniesHair I will send the finished mittens, not very happy with them, but the owner is, she loves the color. Will never buy paint box again, the fibres split apart and when u go to tighten your wip, u get pieces of it your hand.
@@FranniesHair Did i get any of my pictures

Hi Laura, Thank you for reaching out to me. Unfortunately, I don't knit. I have a video on how to crochet mittens. You could probably find a video showing how to crochet mittens on RUclips. I hope this helps.💕
I will take longer than an hour because I am slower. LOL
Lol...remember, thick & quick works up faster too.😊❤️
Yea I’m can’t crochet as fast as she can 🥲
too blurry!!!
I'm sorry. It doesn't look blurry on my computer.
