- in this video I show the correct way to join to a parallel male thread. all too often I see installers fitting female irons onto parallel male threads intended for use with the flat-faced Union. the biggest problem is that hardly any merchants stopped these flat-faced unions blaming the installer for not having asked for them. in my experience most installers don't even know these exist. so we need to start asking asking and asking until flat-faced unions become a standard item at the local merchant. until that time you can buy them at B the smart merchant or from Antares.
3/4 copper tap connectors, grind out the lip should be just as good. I've done that for years and it worked for me
The trouble is this fitting is 1 in. 3/4 tap connectors work better with 3/4 fittings. For 3/4 fittings I just used 3/4 flat-faced unions as I do not need to modify them and they fit perfectly.
What is the part no. for this from Antares?
I'm sorry I really don't know
Also makes it easy to remove for service/ replacement
We do lots of G flat face tails 1/2” - 2”.
Good video Andrew
Can you give me a link to your website please
@@andrewmillwardwatford9410 Hi Andrew. flat faced connectors can be found in FAR Rubinetterie products 👍
If you Google home comfort assured in Watford or I think if you Google my name
Why can the antifreeze valve manufacturers not offer a solution that connects directly to the ASHP without cobbling up additional fittings? P.S. I do not like those uber long flexibles that seem to be standard practice - surely you only need a 300mm flexible - to attenuate noise/vibration of the unit
Totally agree about the length of flexible connectors. They are available in different lengths so I don't know why installers always seem to choose these long ones. If I was specifying the system I would want to use an appropriate length for the system that I'm installing. Also I wouldn't have them made from rubber but from metal like the viessmann
I used to get endfeed flat faced unions from Viessmann. Not sure if they still do them though. Hope this helps.
What is brilliant catchphrase you have
Paul Brimble at Bee Trading does a superior flat faced union.
I buy the ones from B for boilers but they don't have a male thread. I guess you could crimp two together with a straight connector though or even better add two of them to a 28 mil isolation valve
