100% agree with you. If there's no children, there's no reason to stay in touch. Doesn't mean you have to be enemies but what is the point of being "close" with each other. Not to mention one party always still has romantic feelings. Just messy and unnecessary in my opinion.

I have this problem also. Forcing him to delete his ex's contact isn't sound right. This makes my love towards him slowly disappeared. 😞 If he cannot keep ex in the past and want to keep in touch with her, I will walk away.

I had a bad breakup over this because he was doing it in secret and lying about it. I was gone for 6 months and he reached out to me continuing to say that it was her that reached out and needed help with a problem she was having (a one off)??
Yet, prior to this he told me he had broken up with her years ago because of drinking and never wanted to have anything to do with her. It was all lies.
Found out he was giving her money, paying closing costs on her property, giving money to her mother, and I also believe they officially never broke up. She simply moved in with her mother to take care of her 5 years prior. Here he was secretly acting like the boyfriend and taking care of her. She didn’t know about us. He kept that hidden. He was playing 2 sides of the coin. I don’t think he was over her.
What if they have a son they just communication due of the boy? How we can solve that?

Whether it's an ex girlfriend that a guy is hung up on, or hes a cheater, or something else is going on that makes him emotionally unavailable, the result is always the same: heartbreak. It's best to just get out of the relationship. You can tell when a guy is really into you, and when he is not.

I hold the same view. I believe it is inappropriate to be friends with former exes AND fwbs while in a relationship. I would never do that to my partner because I know it would create unnecessary and unhealthy suspicion. I would never want to do anything that makes my partner feel insecure. Thus, I expect the same from my partner.
I had to end a relationship because of this issue but it was for the best. Some people are okay with their partner being friends with exes and others are not. I am definitely not okay with it. Know what your standards and boundaries are and never settle for less people!

I had to convince him to unfollow all his exes, he unfollowed almost all of them. He called me a dictator and jealous. Wish he just understood that his behavior is stupid. My ex fiancé maintained a close friendship with his ex. They worked together, had lunch together, he confided in her about our relationship, she watched his dog when he visited me (we were long distance.. states away). He insisted we all double date. She had a partner and he was all cool about this friendship. My fiancé’s family invited her to all family events from Thanksgiving to Xmas and weddings. He insisted on inviting her to our wedding too and all of his ex girlfriends including some friends with benefits. He told me that after we married, he would invite them all to our bbqs and parties. It was becoming unbearable. He said I was “crazy” and “unreasonable.” They had no children together. In the end, he broke up with me over the phone because he said that he didn’t want an instant family (I had two small children and he had never been married. We were 48). I don’t know what happened with him and his ex girlfriend but I assume he is still single and this is probably one of the reasons.

Yes, this was happening with my most recent ex and his ex-wife. So much denying, siding with her and disregarding my feelings. Calling me jealous etc. He basically said she is his best friend. What about me? He got very defensive. I finally ended things after feeling taken for granted all this time and I feel relieved that I'm going to have my old stress-free life back. It's not worth it.

This video made me think of a situation I was in with a past relationship, so I’m curious to hear your thoughts on it.
My boyfriend had a FWB thing going on with his best friend’s sister some time before we got together. I found out about it a couple months into the relationship. Even though he said it was over, for a long time, I couldn’t help but feel super uncomfortable whenever she was around. But what could I do? She was his best friend’s sister! ...so she was around a lot. In a lot of ways it made me feel like I couldn’t trust him, not just with other women, but with the way he handled his social situations in general.

Made his teenaged kids and her dinner every night, went on week long vacations together, every holiday...etc. He called it co-parenting I call it being divorced husband. I know it seems suspicious but you cant blame them for your lack of trust. I would never just throw everything away over that. Instead of just leaving someone the moment theres one hicup, will leave you with no one. I've been struggling with this for more than 3 years wherein my husband keeps talking to his ex-wife secretly almost everyday when he goes to work and even sending money to her, they don't even have children, they have been divorced for more than 15 years despite of the previous relationships he had after his divorced. I found out when I got curious with my dreams for 7 days that my husband is talking to woman, so I got curious what my dreams is telling me, when he got home from work I tried to see his phone and I found 1 hr 5 min. talked, its a long conversation isnt it? he deleted but he did not know I saw it already and copied and the worst thing he said he has OT. I feel frustrated and totally disrespectful. He promised but the following they talked again 3x a day. I can't imagine.

Hi Ryan! A question regarding this situation (obviously mine): I can't really seem to find a reasonable advice for excactly this anywhere? Here goes: If a man used to be with a woman who had kids (not his kids), they broke up, he now has a new girlfriend (me). He still wants to have contact with the kids (whos mother are dating a new man). Do you think the kids would be better off still having this ex(man) in their future life, plus their mothers new boyfriend, and do you think the man's current relationship (mine) would be better with or without him having contact with his ex's kids (not his kids) in the future? Would you look at this situation the same way as if this man and his ex did have kids to raise together (as you mentioned as the only reason for a man to still be in contact with his ex), or is this situation different, with them both having new partners in their lives?
To make things even more confusing: We both have kids from earlier relationships, who naturally are getting to know eachother.
I would love to hear your thoughts about this. Maybe things will be more clear, as I don't know what to think or how to deal with this situation.

My boyfriend had been talking to his ex girlfriend for years. She's not over him. He says they're not friends. But she'll still message him and tell him she loves and misses him. Ok so I’ve been dating this boy for a while and I love him, he loves me, it’s been like a year and a half since his ex and him broke up. But today I was in his room looking at the notes of mine he has pinned up on my wall, and somehow I never noticed but there’s one from his ex next to them. I just want add an alternate point of view. While it's true that most people in contact their exes for sketchy reasons, I've had some relationships where a partner is still friends with an ex, and they they have become good friends of mine, even after my initial contact with the guy has drifted off. The key is, i think, is when the ex is not hidden from you and you even get to meet them in a positive context it's less likely to be harmful. People approach things differently and when a guy is respectful of his ex, i feel that he will be respectful to me. I am close friends with a guy i used to date, and tbh we should only ever have stayed friends as there was no physical compatibility. All i want for him now is to meet a good woman, and when he does, depending on how she feels about it, i am fully prepared to keep a respectful distance because i want them both to be happy. Just my take on it.
