She is a true polyphonic contralto. VERY unusual! If you google polyphonic contralto, most of the results are all about her. (Oh, and Cher, if you can believe that.) Gives me goosebumps all over!!
Her vocal timber is very similar to Cher, so that's no big surprise. In over 40 years of singing, I have never encountered a polyphonic contralto. I am a polyphonic bass and have encountered a few male polyphonic voices (mostly low baritone and basses), but never a female. Overtone voices tend to be more common among males than females; male voices tend to be more harmonic rich, anyway.
Diana was 18 years old here. Now listen and react to her at age 14 singing 'Rechenka' (My Dear River) in her native Russian language. She puts you in a different environment with her unique voice.
Diana is not an Alto she is a Contralto, a dramatic Contralto at that with a huge range, she is 18 years old here. (20 yo right now.) She does not pull her tongue back to her throat you can see her tongue perfectly flat in her mouth, the deep sound is not achieved by a technique she uses, this is her voice, she can of course deepen it further by lowering her larynx but she does nothing with her tongue. She is not Opera trained nor an Opera singer but she can certainly sing and she has sang Opera before. Wait till you hear some of her other songs she has loads of them for you to experience, she may as well be the best female vocalist on the planet right now. If you are curious to hear more of her natural low voice check her out her cover of "Human" or "Wicked game" that she did at the age of 15, you can hear her sing both high and low on "Polyusko Polye" or you can check out her incredibly high range on her song called "The day you...", if you want to see her sing Opera the listen to "Fly away on the wings of wind". It is really hard to recommend stuff from Diana because everything she sing becomes a masterpiece. Just a note, Diana has that video on her channel, the video you reacted is not from her original channel and i do not know why you did not react to her video which has more views than this and it is not butchered. At least change the address in your description to her channel and not the pirate's channel that has already stolen close to 10 million views from her.

It's always good to see newcomers - reminds me of when I first heard Diana :) She is an astounding talent and many are left speechless on first hearing her (and a good bit beyond that!) and even think she's not real. Sorry for the late post, but I just came across you reactions to Diana Ankudinova covering "Can’t Help Falling In love". Now, just a little background to give some context to this performance. This took place on September 25, 2021, during the inaugural season of a new Russian vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn!”, and Diana Ankudinova was 18 years old, when this Elvis Presley cover took place for a vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn”. During past interviews Diana has said she was not happy with her lack of a higher vocal range, and that lack kept her out of the more prestigious Russian music academies, so along with her voice teacher she decided to concentrate extensively on improving and developing her upper vocal range since vocal range helps to determine and define a singers voice type. In 2017 when she was 13 years old, Diana’s vocal range was first measured and her vocal range then was measured from a low of D3 (lower alto range) to a high of A5 (mid to upper alto range), which was unusually low for a 13 year old girl. During the “Can’t Help Falling In Love” performance, her vocal range was again measured, and Diana’s functional vocal range now goes from a low of C3 (male Tenor range) to a high of B♭5, (female Mezzo Soprano range). One of the most commonly asked questions about Diana’s unique voice is, how does she do it? How can such a young female singer achieve such a low, rich, deep, profound, and resonant sound? Without actually scoping her vocal tract while she is producing those low notes to physically see what is happening within her vocal tract, the general conciseness of many vocal professionals is simply attributing Diana's ability to her winning the genetic lottery. Diana was just born with her unique vocal anatomy. Diana's vocal folds (vocal cords) appear to be longer and thicker than the vast majority of female singers. Her larynx, (voice box), likewise appears to be larger and similarly her pharynx, (throat), also appears to be longer and wider than the vast majority of female singers, plus she has a large oral cavity (mouth). It’s this unique anatomical structure that appears to give Diana Ankudinova the ability to produce the low, deep, rich, and full sounds she is known for, but without actually scoping her vocal track to verify, there is no way to be 100% sure. For this new competition, Diana’s first performances was her cover of Elvis Presley’s classic, “Can't Help Falling In Love”, and it showed what many vocal professionals have been saying since Diana was 14. Based on Diana’s previous vocal competition’s, and concerts, she has now developed into what many vocal professionals believed she always was, a true contralto voice type. During the opening of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” Diana’s low Contralto voice is on full display. The improvement to her upper range is also on display during the middle portion of this performance. Finally, the depth and power of Diana’s voice during the final section define her as not just a Contralto, but as a “Dramatic Contralto”, and a Dramatic Contralto has the lowest, deepest, darkest, richest sound and it is the most powerful of the contralto voice types and is the rarest of the very rare Contralto voice types. At the end of this performance, the full power of her Dramatic Contralto voice is on full display for everyone to hear. But it’s not just how low can she go. It’s in the exceptional quality of her tone in her upper range but especially in her lower range that makes her so very special. It's in the roundness, fullness, and depth of her sound, along with her ability to create, access, and use an enormous amount of resonance. Now a little about this new vocal competition. During the “ShowMaskGoOn”, Diana was competing against 8 other professional singers, Diana being the 9th competitor. Diana and the other singer's also doubled as judges for this competition which was televised over a nine week period, all singers performed one song per week for the entirety of the 9 weeks. Diana and the other professional singers/judges were also competing against each other, and based on their individual performances they awarded judging points to each other, but could not award points to themselves. Each week a different singer took center stage and performed a different song over each of the nine weeks using a different genre of music, and a different style for each song performed. The ShowMaskGoOn! concluded on November 20, 2021, and during Diana’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love” performance, the judge on the top row who was the first to stand is the well known Russian opera tenor, Yusif Eyvazov from Azerbaijan. He was invited to participate as a special guest judge for this inaugural competition. At the end of Diana's performance she receives a standing ovation from all her fellow competitors. One of those competitors is the well-known contemporary Russian singer, Julia Parshuta. Julia is in the center row dressed in red, and looks totally lost. At the end of Diana's performance Julia Parshuta puts both hands on top of her head, and looks totally shocked, and bewildered. Finally, the grand finale of the “Show Must Go On” competition concluded with Diana Ankudinova being awarded the most judging points over the total 9 weeks and was declared the winner of the inaugural season of the “ShowMaskGoOn!” competition.

Diana is incredible! There is nobody like her. To me she is the best vocalist I have ever heard. Everything she does she makes her own and it is incredibly captivating. She draws you in and you just are carried away or fly with her voice. Check out her story as well. She has overcome so much and she seems to be such a beautiful person beyond her impossible talent. Of course she has mastered her vocal instrument like no other, you will see her do things with her voice that you would thought that they are impossible, things that even Dimash never even dreamed of attempting. But at the end of the day no matter how much anyone talks about her technical skills the number one most impressive thing about her is her magical ability to transport the listener to her own world of music, her artistry on the stage is unprecedented she goes in to a trance when she sings as she immerses herself and becomes the song itself, you will often find your self glued to her every gesture even if you do not understand the language you are listening to and she has sang in a lot of them English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Russian it does not matter because you always get the full experience from just watching her art.

Diana is not an Alto she is a Contralto, a dramatic Contralto at that with a huge range, she is 18 years old here. (20 yo right now.)
She does not pull her tongue back to her throat you can see her tongue perfectly flat in her mouth, the deep sound is not achieved by a technique she uses, this is her voice, she can of course deepen it further by lowering her larynx but she does nothing with her tongue.
She is not Opera trained nor an Opera singer but she can certainly sing and she has sang Opera before.
Wait till you hear some of her other songs she has loads of them for you to experience, she may as well be the best female vocalist on the planet right now.
If you are curious to hear more of her natural low voice check her out her cover of "Human" or "Wicked game" that she did at the age of 15, you can hear her sing both high and low on "Polyusko Polye" or you can check out her incredibly high range on her song called "The day you...", if you want to see her sing Opera the listen to "Fly away on the wings of wind".
It is really hard to recommend stuff from Diana because everything she sing becomes a masterpiece.

It's always good to see newcomers - reminds me of when I first heard Diana :) She is an astounding talent and many are left speechless on first hearing her (and a good bit beyond that!) and even think she's not real. Sorry for the late post, but I just came across you reactions to Diana Ankudinova covering "Can’t Help Falling In love". Now, just a little background to give some context to this performance. This took place on September 25, 2021, during the inaugural season of a new Russian vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn!”, and Diana Ankudinova was 18 years old, when this Elvis Presley cover took place for a vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn”.
During past interviews Diana has said she was not happy with her lack of a higher vocal range, and that lack kept her out of the more prestigious Russian music academies, so along with her voice teacher she decided to concentrate extensively on improving and developing her upper vocal range since vocal range helps to determine and define a singers voice type. In 2017 when she was 13 years old, Diana’s vocal range was first measured and her vocal range then was measured from a low of D3 (lower alto range) to a high of A5 (mid to upper alto range), which was unusually low for a 13 year old girl. During the “Can’t Help Falling In Love” performance, her vocal range was again measured, and Diana’s functional vocal range now goes from a low of C3 (male Tenor range) to a high of B♭5, (female Mezzo Soprano range).
One of the most commonly asked questions about Diana’s unique voice is, how does she do it? How can such a young female singer achieve such a low, rich, deep, profound, and resonant sound? Without actually scoping her vocal tract while she is producing those low notes to physically see what is happening within her vocal tract, the general conciseness of many vocal professionals is simply attributing Diana's ability to her winning the genetic lottery. Diana was just born with her unique vocal anatomy.
Diana's vocal folds (vocal cords) appear to be longer and thicker than the vast majority of female singers. Her larynx, (voice box), likewise appears to be larger and similarly her pharynx, (throat), also appears to be longer and wider than the vast majority of female singers, plus she has a large oral cavity (mouth). It’s this unique anatomical structure that appears to give Diana Ankudinova the ability to produce the low, deep, rich, and full sounds she is known for, but without actually scoping her vocal track to verify, there is no way to be 100% sure.
For this new competition, Diana’s first performances was her cover of Elvis Presley’s classic, “Can't Help Falling In Love”, and it showed what many vocal professionals have been saying since Diana was 14. Based on Diana’s previous vocal competition’s, and concerts, she has now developed into what many vocal professionals believed she always was, a true contralto voice type.
During the opening of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” Diana’s low Contralto voice is on full display. The improvement to her upper range is also on display during the middle portion of this performance. Finally, the depth and power of Diana’s voice during the final section define her as not just a Contralto, but as a “Dramatic Contralto”, and a Dramatic Contralto has the lowest, deepest, darkest, richest sound and it is the most powerful of the contralto voice types and is the rarest of the very rare Contralto voice types. At the end of this performance, the full power of her Dramatic Contralto voice is on full display for everyone to hear. But it’s not just how low can she go. It’s in the exceptional quality of her tone in her upper range but especially in her lower range that makes her so very special. It's in the roundness, fullness, and depth of her sound, along with her ability to create, access, and use an enormous amount of resonance.
Now a little about this new vocal competition. During the “ShowMaskGoOn”, Diana was competing against 8 other professional singers, Diana being the 9th competitor. Diana and the other singer's also doubled as judges for this competition which was televised over a nine week period, all singers performed one song per week for the entirety of the 9 weeks. Diana and the other professional singers/judges were also competing against each other, and based on their individual performances they awarded judging points to each other, but could not award points to themselves. Each week a different singer took center stage and performed a different song over each of the nine weeks using a different genre of music, and a different style for each song performed.
The ShowMaskGoOn! concluded on November 20, 2021, and during Diana’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love” performance, the judge on the top row who was the first to stand is the well known Russian opera tenor, Yusif Eyvazov from Azerbaijan. He was invited to participate as a special guest judge for this inaugural competition. At the end of Diana's performance she receives a standing ovation from all her fellow competitors. One of those competitors is the well-known contemporary Russian singer, Julia Parshuta. Julia is in the center row dressed in red, and looks totally lost. At the end of Diana's performance Julia Parshuta puts both hands on top of her head, and looks totally shocked, and bewildered. Finally, the grand finale of the “Show Must Go On” competition concluded with Diana Ankudinova being awarded the most judging points over the total 9 weeks and was declared the winner of the inaugural season of the “ShowMaskGoOn!” competition.
Diana said at the last deep part her whole body was vibrating.
