Greetings from Scotland! What can I say but - you know your music and singing techniques extremely well sir! A truly comprehensive analysis of such a unique, powerful and rich voice as 18yo Diana's is not an easy task! That was very impressive! Diana is a truly very special singer and a very special young lady! She has many hundreds of performances from almost every music genre there has ever been and I hope you sample some of her newer original songs for analysis too! Thank you for a great reaction and analysis!
    ----------

Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in eight billion.

Everyone sings, but one of the judges is special. The one who most vividly appreciated Diana's voice. The one who was standing listening to the song. He is an opera singer who is considered one of the best voices in the world. His name is Yusuf Eyvazov. He is a dramatic tenor, the husband of the great opera star of our time, Anna Netrebko. Yusuf is welcome at all the best opera venues in the world, where the best of the best voices of the world sing, on such stages as the Mariinsky Theater, the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, the Vienna State Opera, the Bolshoi Theater, the Paris National Opera and others. Who, if not he, can appreciate the voice? And he, at the end of Diana's performance, was crying. It's worth a lot. This is worth more than the opinions of millions of reactors and judges.
This episode's guest star Yusif Eyvazov said:
"You know I'm struggling to articulate what I've felt. I've heard many music in my life,
I sing along all over the world. I have seen a lot of concert halls and people, orchestra and
    musicians....
....This girl got just an incredible talent hidden inside, and may God give that this talent
gets into good hands, people who can do with it what she deserves in the future which Diana herself
    deserves."

Enjoyed your comments on her....the background is as extraordinary as the performer. At the age of three in the middle of Russia's far Eastern Winter she was abandoned, injured, at a bus stop where she was rescued and sent to an orphanage. At the age of 5 she was still traumatized and unable to speak properly. A massage therapist who visited the orphanage trying to help kids, was the first to recognize something special in this little girl, and eventually adopted her. Diana was sent for singing lessons because it was thought that this might help her learn to speak without impediment. Only two years later she started singing in local theater, and in street plays and performances. And soon after was entered in a Russian TV music competition for disadvantaged children. By the age of 10 she was winning local competitions, singing on live TV shows, and her songs started showing up on RUclips. A year ago, at the age of 18, her first performance during a new Russian television competition with several other renowned performers, has gone viral and has garnered hundreds of RUclips 'reaction' videos, and millions of viewers. Her first song at the competition, an entirely new take on Elvis Presley's 'Can't Help Falling in Love with You' has been called mesmerizing, transcendental and other-worldly...it highlights her uniquely deep voice, and effortless range from low to high, along with her trademark dramatic and passionate interpretation. Diana Ankudinova sings mostly in Russian, English and French. She has also sung in other languages including Spanish, German and Arabic. A viewer: 'At the age of 5 she couldn't speak her own language, now she brings the most remarkable presence into the world of music..."

There are hundreds of covers of this song and few touch me and come close to Elvis. Diana makes her own song out of it.
Diana, also called goosebumps queen, sang the cover of the cover of the song by Elvis Presley in the first episode of the competition 'Шоумаскгоон' (ShowMaskGoOn). This was Diana's first adult competition in November 2021. She was the youngest competitor (aged 18) and wowed contestants and spectators with her first song.
Rules: 9 winners of the previous shows 'The Mask', 'Superstar' and 'You are Super' took part in this new format and had to sing in 9 categories: folk hit, song at the end of the 20th century, Soviet song, pop hit, song your choice, new music, song from cartoon or film, rock hit, Grammy
The man who jumps up is the world famous opera singer Yusif Eyvazov. He is also the husband of the world famous opera singer Anna Netrebko. He is the guest of honor and awards 9 points. Each episode has a new guest of honor.
The competitors have to assess each other and have praised Diana to the skies. They said of their performance: 'Diana has no competition on the show - she amazes with her talent - it's impossible to tear yourself away from her - you want to listen endlessly, they're in tears and they're even afraid to blink' .
8 participants (Diana cannot score herself) gave Diana the highest score (9). She won the first episode... and later won the contest.

Most people who react/analyze Diana, including a couple professional opera singers, consider her a true polyphonic dramatic contralto with amazing range and control. The judge standing up on the top row with the beard and tears in his eyes is Yusif Eyvazov, a well know operatic tenor. What does it say about her performance if she could move him to tears.

    Vocal range and style
When Ankudinova first came to broader attention in 2017 (14 years old), her range was measured as D3 to A5. As of September 2021 (18 years old), her functional range was measured as C3 to B♭5. Together with her tessitura, it identifies her potential voice type as dramatic contralto, the deepest, darkest, and most powerful contralto voice.

Her timbre is so unique and the color so dark it reminds me of Eric. Sounds lower than it is. You've heard the pitch before, but not with that color.
There's a small lounge place she sings at called the Wood Grouse Nest Bard Club where they do a good job mixing her voice. One of her originals I enjoy is "As Your Voice". She's refined and changed that song over the years. As others have mentioned Rechenka, which she sung at 14, is a glimpse into the beginnings of her voice (as it first started changing there). There were signs prior but it wasn't until that performance where it really grabbed you that this was an unusual timbre. She was 18 when she sang this Elvis cover. I am fascinated to see what her voice is like in another 10 years.
I hope one day we discover she's been secretly practicing subharmonics. She's such an expert yodeler and has such great control I bet she could reliably hit the 2nd subharmonic. Speaking of yodels you will hear a lot of that technique being used stylistically in her older stuff. Especially the folk songs. Her more contemporary stuff will feature a lot of harmonies with herself, which makes the live performances fun because she'll switch which part of the harmony she's singing live just to make you do a double take. There's also a performance of "Oh, it is not yet evening" that is fairly interesting musically and vocally. You will hear a lot of harmonic minor from her. I think it's just ingrained into eastern music, but the tension and dissonance you can create also helps with her voice.
On the physiological side of things I am convinced she has what is called High Arched Palate, which would contribute to her timbre/harmonics. I can hear it in her speaking voice with consonant distortion. It's where the hard palate is like a high vaulted ceiling compared to a typical hard palate.

These were really interesting insights into Diana's voice and why it is so unique. I think I have seen a version of this song with Diana's voice isolated for a cleaner spectral analysis.
For the next reaction to her, I recommend Rechenka, which was recorded four years previously to this, when she was 14 years old. In Rechenka, she shows many more facets of her voice in a daring display of vocal artistry, my absolute favorite of her. There is a lot more to discover.

@@bass2yang Small additional note: The gentleman standing up was Yusif Eyvazov, the husband of Anna Netrebko and an internationally renowned tenor.

She is also isolating overtones in places (polyphonic). Look for 'suspicious' use of vowels.
Her knowledge of how to do so explains the rich sound (good core) and the 'energetic' overtones you mentioned.

Diana is wonderful ! Thank you for this insightful reaction, I have learned a little more so thank you again. My favourite Diana performances are 'Rechenka', is in Russian but do not need lyrics to experience the emotions Diana can convey, and 'Derniere Danse' is in French and same applies as with Rechenka. Also, for yourself, watch the judges comments -- are in Russian with English subtitles ( only one of the judges lost the plot and claimed that Diana's talent comes for the invisible fictional character in the sky - otherwise good to watch i think. )
