Okay - all that aside. It was amazing listening to a contralto like Diana. To the person who asked me "is it manipulated?" I don't think the range is manipulated - I do think she is choosing a very dark color in that range for this song, and yes it's a manipulation- but so is technique in general! Any conscious effort could technically be qualified as a manipulation. I don't think manipulation needs to automatically be negative when it comes to the voice. Anyway- I hope you enjoy this vid- and the laughs at my expense lmao!

I just watched the final show where she wins and while the RUclips video English CC really suck, I got the impression that all the finalists got apartments, and in addition, Diana got a full ride to musical university and a date of her choosing to see 21Pilots at any concert in Europe or U.S. I'll see if I can find a link.

My understanding is that Igor 'gifted' her the apartment so that her family would be away from Diana's addict mother in Eastern Russia, who was demanding Diana's return and making threats, in the wake of her success.

I don't believe contralto, yodeling and growling are rare for females, but those are hated by the major music labels. Even Lady Gaga and Beyonce are now too low in pitch for what the labels want to push. They want that high pitch breathy children's voice now. When it comes to blues singing, almost every female singer is trying for a lower pitch voice. Many of those singers can yodel and growl too.

Когда более 50 лет назад, будучи студентом 1го курса мединститута, изучение анатомии началось с костей, глядя на прекрасные балетные спектакли, мне виделись исключительно движения скелетов. Только после полного курса анатомии восприятия стали нормальным.
Диана - исключительно уникальное творение Творца. Первые её выступления на конкурсе "Ты - супер" заставли бегать по всему телу скорпионов, а не муравьёв, а глаза влажнели. Анализ многих реакционеров напоминают мне меня же первокурсника, когда начинают рассказывать об анатомии и физиологии голосовых связок во время вокала, прерывая запись на отдельные фрагменты. Это, порой, раздражает. Хорошо восприятинимаются паузы на "мурашки" или иные другие эмоции, и только после полного прослушивания начинается детализация вокальных способностей и особенностей исполнителя.
Очень надеюсь, что Игорь Яковлевич Cool 😉создаст крутые композиции (если уже не репетирует) для дуэта двух Ди - Димаша и Дианы. Это была бы H-bomb на тысячи мегатонн. А Дианочке желаю из алмаза стать бриллиантом русского и мирового вокального искусства. Её жизнь и творчество делают только первые, но твёрдые и уверенные шаги. Дай ей, О, боже, только здоровья, а талантом и красотой ты её не обиделил!

I do find it amusing that much people ask about manipulation, and love your answer: "yes". Ofcourse Angel we all manipulate our voices, and what amuse me is that much people think that singing it comes natural and that's it, like a magic, miracle or a gift, when even if you're born with natural pitch and tone hearing talent you have to improve it and worked it much l7ke an athlete and learn to manipulate your instrument wich ultimately is what the voice really is: an Instrument.
This is the most real answer I have ever read in a comment thread. That’s exactly the answer! Most fans don’t even wanna have that conversation and they don’t understand what is meant by “manipulation” and they assume it’s something bad. There is a lot of manipulation that goes into getting yourself to sing and sound good, period. That’s basically the process.
So true, and Diana has trained and worked hard for years and knows exactly what she's doing, and what timbres and sound qualities she wants to achieve, and continues to improve through hard work and additional learning. She is gifted and talented, but that's just the beginning.
Big fan of Diana's for a few years. These performances from the show You Are Super where Diana at 14 and 15 years old. At 17 today she is a student and releases a few songs from time to time. The River( Rechenka) from this show is a Russian folk song and beautifully done. Blizzard is my favorite. Thanks for the reaction I learned a lot

different perspectives and analysis about Diana and her voice.
Please Don't take it personally when Diana's fans get their 'bristles' up
when she is compared to Cher, they are very attached to her.
They don't think Diana sounds like anyone and nobody sounds like her.
I have to agree because I used to watch the Sonny & Cher show every
week (showing my age), there is something really different and unique
about Diana's voice, which most Opera singers and Vocal coaches reacting
to Diana say the same. I do here some similarities...and really, how many
contraltos are there to think of for comparison, right?
Also, Her Russian Fans are Awesome.
Once you know Her back story, you will
understand more of why they are so protective of their "National Treasure".
As you were not, because of your concentration on the vocals, most people
are also taken by her portrayal of the song and the emotions she invokes
and the way she uses her voice/performance to do this.
Diana has said herself, when she sings, she is in something like a trance,
many times she doe's not remember her performance on the stage.
I Think that you will fall into the trap that everyone else has when you listen
to "Rechenka". You will probably get lost in Diana's world for that 2-3 mins.
But in my opinion, I think that "Blizzard" from the 'You are Super' show is
Diana's true voice and she enters into your soul even though you will not
understand a word she is saying, it does not matter. I think she actually
has tears in her eyes when she sings..No...when she PERFORMS 'Blizzard'.
Just like 'Rechenka".

I watched several hundred reactions to Diana's voice. What for? It is difficult to answer this question. In 95% there is nothing interesting. I had the opportunity to see CHER twice and she’s awesome 👏🏽 but Diana’s tone is vocally stronger and I can hear 🤷🏻♀️🎤🎵🎶🎵🥰☝🏽🕊 that’s like No other singer I’ve ever heard. I’ve been around for over 55 and I’ve went to many singing Artist Performances and one I somewhat remember (Woodstock). Remember Diana is 15 years old during this performance. 🤦🏻♀️🔍😯
Have you heard all of what Cher has done, because if you hear this song around minute 5 I think and then you look for Cher's Strong Enough from 1990 or Diana's cover of It's a Man's world and Cher's song It's a Man's World and you can tell there are similarities, saying they are similar is not a bad thing or it is not the same as saying Diana is less than Cher or Cher is better, but putting down Cher because you like Diana is wrong. If you have a musical ear you can hear the similarities, they are not the same because not even families sing the same way, but they can have similarities, which one is better, well, when Diana gets to be 71 and still singing in front of an audience we can have that discussion.
I’ve went to CHERs LIVE Concerts several times...I’m a FAN but I stated their tones are different. Yes, I’m old enough to have watched Sonny and Cher Shows as an adolescent. Diana is fifteen during this performance so she definitely has an agile vocal tone. CHERs Music is still great 👍🏽 but it’s definitely auto tuned and yes, I attended her Live Concert when she was over 60’. I have several of her CDs that I still listen to them. 🙇🏻♀️🎶🎵❤️👏🏽🔎🇺🇸
Calm down. They’re talking about the similar ways that they’re saying now that if they have the same voice or anything. They both really raise their soft palate extremely high, into the nasal cavity to produce that very extremely dark tone. I think that Indiana brings her tongue a little bit more into the back of her throat at times to create that almost Shakira like tone. She has this combination of Shakira and Cher that makes her very original as a result.
Also Cher said once that she doesn’t refer to herself as a great singer... because she *knows* she’s not a great singer. (Paraphrasing) “I’m a great performer who can also sing pretty good.”
Diana shares this humility... *but*... she is both a great singer *and* a great performer and as a child has already developed those chops. What does Diana look like as an adult? Who could possibly know what that will look like? Genre-defining, most likely. An artist for the ages.

Do we love this girl's work? Yes! Is she my favorite singer? Yes! Diana inhabits and interprets songs like a magical being. Her performances in the 14-15yo period are revelations. Check these out before listening to her skyrocket in her 16yo period. Many times many recordings on youtube, recording quality varies a great deal, so either prelisten for quality or take suggestions from fans (who know them all lol).

You are a true expert. I prefer the Kremlin version of Dernière Danse, also. For quality reasons then I would jump to her newest stuff. Especially the fan concert in the restaurant and later the private studio recordings she started in corona-time.
@@wonderfalg Good to hear from you. You pretty well lay out my preferences. I'd also include Joan of Arc set against scenes from the movie - there's no live clip that does her visual justice.
Listening to this with my eyes closed, I came to a revelation: If I didn't know better, I'd say that I'm not listening to just one person. What I'm hearing is a male singer with a large range, that's capable of perfectly transitioning into and through both alto and soprano classical ranges.
Listen to the lower range, it's not a classically effeminate tones that rings most true. It's indiscernible from that of someone who's well-versed being a baritone/tenor. I know my ears aren't being fooled, because they're not responsible for understanding incoming sound. That's the brain. And going strictly based on what I hear and not what I see, at those points in the song, I'm convinced that a man is singing those parts.
Well done, Diana. You've given me a proof of concept that I though I'd never witness in my lifetime.

I found a video of Diana auditioning for a kids "The voice " type show and she did a yodeling piece very well. Not well enough for the judges, but well enough they asked her to sing something else and were then kicking themselves for not having picked her. You should listen to it.
Excellent reaction and true vocal analysis! So glad "this generation" has a chance to hear "Wicked Games" by Rick Isaak. It is a classic and if you've never heard of the late Roy Orbison (or even Elvis!), you will hear the sound of a timeless era that was as naturally beautiful as its stories were pure of love. Kudos to guitarist Jame Calvin Wilsey as well for his hauntingly beautiful intro. ...And the set designer captured the essence and depth of the song along with the "wicked" vocals flowing out of Diana's mouth!

I need a duet Dimash and diana. Literally iconic
Diana had a rough start in life. Her alcoholic mother did not want her and abused and neglected her. She was abandoned at 3 years old. A relative found her and took her to an orphanage. A worker at the orphanage adopted her, and because she could not speak, sent her to a vocal teacher where she was taught to sing, so she could learn to speak. Now look at her!!!
forgive me if you please but she was able to speak, she was stuttering. that is why she was sent to a specialist who in his turn recommended her a vocal exercises because singing helps tremendously with stuttering. And of cause original and I might add unique voice of her and artistry making her one of a kind.I love to listen to her as well as to watch---she is musician and magician. You just kind of mesmerized by her presence. she is very talented she is young and she has to do a lot of work in order to perfect her ability to sing. though even now you can see she is fantastic.
The main thing I'm afraid of as to Diana is a close acquaintance with alcohol. She looks very much like her biological mother. Lord, save her from this.

Enjoy your reviews and breakdowns. I have noticed that many Eastern artists start with a breathy sound much, much more often than "Western" singers. As we shift to pulling our media instead of waiting on push technology we get to see talents all over the world. Dimash, Sohyang and Diana (among others) start several of their songs this way. Today we pull what we want instead of wait to see what is pushed at us as in traditional television/radio. I've found much of today's more amazing music only because of Social Media and much of it is coming out of the East lately. From Japan, Korea, Kazakhstan to the maternal Mother Russia. :)
I'd like you to review Rechenka (it's neo-modern Russian folk music and much different than Wicked Game) or Arirang Alone by Sohyang (or do both eventually). Ok, my votes are in.

Не печальтесь. Она похвалила Диану очень, и поставила среди крутых певиц из Штатов, и сказала, что ей надо выступать на крупнейших шоу и конкурсах талантов крупнейшей кабельной сети США. Сказала, что сама бы слушала Диану целый день, и что ей очень нравится. Единственное ее замечание - это то, что она считает, что такое заглубление голоса помешает Диане идти на верхние ноты. Но ведь мы с Вами знаем, что Диана прекрасно переносит свой грудной тембр вверх (например, TAKE ON ME). Не зная других вещей трудно ей судить, конечно. Я лично также считаю, что Диана поет в своей собственной лиге, и ее нельзя сравнивать с певицами, думающими как погромче крикнуть. )))

@@user-jz1hs5eb6s если вы смотрите видео с компьютера или ноутбука, то на нижней панели видео есть значки, нажмите на квадратик справа, внизу у него появится красная полоска, затем нажимаете зубчатое колесико, откроются субтитры и внизу на русском будет написано " перевести". нажимаете на это слово и открываются языки, надо найти русский, нажать на него и будет перевод. Это абсолютно не сложно, дольше рассказывать.

She is 15 here so very, very early in her development as a singer. You should check her out at 14 doing Rechenka if you want the Russian folk sound. At 18 she is amazing singing Can't Help Falling in Love, showing off more of her power, range, and control. I think she is a true polyphonic contralto. As she matures, I hope she will transition into a full dramatic contralto.

She entered her first kids contest in Russia where she sang a song that required masterful yodeling.
It was a masterpiece, a tour de force, some say the best yodeling performance in the history of videos showcasing yodeling, but in this performance it wasn’t just her amazing yodeling but also her body movement and stage presence and incredible as this might sound ( and I’ll shortly explain the reason why) but NOT ONE CHAIR TURNED!!!!
After the song was finished and the judges turned around , the audience interrupted what they were saying by giving Diana a 5 minute STANDING OVATION. After the applause, the judges had her perform a segment of a French song made famous by Edith Pief and after she sang it , the lady judge covered her face with both hands in utter shock , disbelief and SHAME. The judges said they didn’t press their buttons because they couldn’t teach her anything. She was beyond their level already. But this turned out to be a BLATANT LIE and one of the worse scandals in Russian talent contest history. Because the following day it was revealed that the contest was “ fixed” the winner was “bought” before the show started. A total travesty of justice.
And the following days over 80 million who watched the contest when posted on RUclips spit on the judges.
But she got her revenge the following year and year thereafter by winning not only the Russian contests in two consecutive years but 60 more awards and contests.
Please ( when you get the chance) I BEG of you to at least privately react by YouTubing “ Diana Ankudinova yodeling”.
And you’ll witness a yodeling masterpiece and if you stay to near the end of the judges commentary ( making excuses and lying) you will hear a brief portion of the French song the judges asked her to sing that she NAILED!
And there is a video of her outside a mall at age 11 singing this same French song but the complete version and she KILLED IT!!!! And at age 13 a classic flamenco song called “ me toy” which she performed with amazing emotional impact ( and in Spanish... a MUST WATCH ) And when you’re convinced that she’s one of the best female vocalists ( like millions of others including myself) you may want to react to a couple of her newer songs: ( she just turned 17 the other day) like “by your voice” “ Wave” and a masterpiece titled “Tomorrow is a lie” ( 4.26 one posted by HTB with famed composer Igor at the piano).
