When I saw this performance for the first time, I realized my heart and soul are now with this girl on her way. For 5 years I have been supporting her as much as I can, because there are no artists like her and she is unique in her own way. In this performance she is only 14 years old, now she is 19. During these 5 years she has made many interesting performances, covers and songs.
Diana was 14 years old at that time!
Now at the age of 19 years her Voice is classified as "Dramatic Contralto with polyphonic overtones"
The song "rechenka" (affectionate from the word "river") is a Russian folk ritual wedding song. There is a version that this song appeared before Christianity, and since early Christianity and paganism were closely intertwined, there are many versions of this song. It tells how an orphan girl comes to the river and prays to the spirits of nature. The song is about how my mother, father and brothers were killed by enemies, there is no one to take care of her. The river in Ancient Russia was considered the border between the world of the living and the dead. You hear an ominous whisper, it's the spirit of her late mother responding to the girl's crying.
There are about 30 variants of this song, but the content of each of the variants is based on the sad appeals of the orphan bride to her deceased parents, asking them for "blessings" and help for marriage, for family, to strangers.
There are other versions of this song, where the heroine appeals to her brothers and even to her parents with a call to return to earth in the form of a bird to her native home.
At the end of the song, the girl sails away to a strange tribe, to a strange family.
The roots of the song go back to ancient Russia, it is a very, very ancient folk folklore.

At the age of three in the middle of Russia's far northern Winter she was abandoned, injured, at a bus stop where she was rescued and sent to an orphanage. At the age of 5 she was still traumatized and unable to speak properly. A massage therapist who visited the orphanage trying to help kids, was the first to recognize something special in this little girl, and eventually adopted her. Diana was sent for singing lessons because it was thought that this might help her learn to speak without impediment. Only two years later she started singing in local theater, and in street plays and performances. And soon after was entered in a Russian TV music competition for disadvantaged children. Hi guys, one of you said that it doesn't matter to him what the lyrics of the songs performed by Diana mean. And I do not agree with this, words are important like music, and like body language, all this combined by the performer makes you not just hear, it makes you carry it through your soul.Knowing what the lyrics of the song are about allows you to dive deeper into emotions, and in the performance of such a magical singer as Diana, believe me it is important!!! You can sing a song "technically" correctly and without a soul, but that's not what she does, she somehow lives every song, carries it with her voice through the soul and heart...If you hear her singing in Russian, what will you understand, nothing, but you will hear her sing the yodel correctly "technically", and what was the meaning in it you will not understand without knowing the words, you will not feel the depth of the meaning of the word clothed in music.Good luck to you guys.Never forget that there was a word in the beginning!!! everything else later.

Good job guys! It's really great to see people who aren't just being fake, for the sake of views.
This performance ruined me forever. I saw it, then simply stopped listening to anyone else. When Diana performs (I'll never call her a singer), it doesn't matter what the size of the audience is. She doesn't ever "mail it in".
The singing show, "You're Super", has an amazing concept. they do much more than simply give these children an opportunity to be seen and heard. The show makes a real difference in their lives. The show does everything from providing university scholarships for the kids, to searching out and finding long lost relatives. I think that it's the best TV show in the world

Kk, watched the whole thing, my thoughts on this are she is very very good. I am amazed at all these young talents seemingly coming out of nowhere. It is insane that these young people are better than some of the older singers who have been around for years.

Diana is magical. She was 14 years old here. She turned 19 this last May 31st. This is Russian folk but she sings in multiple genres and languages. This song was the 3rd song she sang in this project that featured orphans and disadvantaged children. Derniere Danse (In French) and James Brown's It's a Man's World (In English) were the first two songs she sang. She won it btw.

Diana had a tough childhood but thanks to her foster loving mother Irina Ponik ( you can see her in the video, woman in the glasses) everything has changed for the better!

While looking forward to Can't Help Falling In Love, I would like to draw your attention to her interpretation of Ornery Horses, a highly metaphorical song about a person whose life is about to end despite him feeling that he has so much left to accomplish. She was emotionally so invested that she was in tears at the end of the song. A really moving performance in Russian with subtitles.
This was a conversation between the river and an orphan bride on her wedding day. Hence the dual emotion…

Thank you both for your comments and sharing time on your channel for this amazing young artist. FYI, the dress she was wearing was made by her Mother, Grandmother and Diana. Irena was shown clasping her hands wearing glasses and has short black hair. Diana sings, dances, actress, music theater, draws, paints, sews, plays piano and ukulele. Now 19 yrs old and attending Gitis University for variety arts in Moscow, simular to Juilliard in New York. She won this competition. She has won over 50 competitions at this point in her life, just 14yrs old for this performance, some internationally. One of the rewards given to her the was an apartment in Moscow. Provided by Igor Krutoy, one of the judges, this is to enable Diana and other finalists the following year the means to continue education in the arts, vocal training, ect. This was Diana's dream to live in Moscow and be a performer.

Хочу,извините, добавить неоторые коррективы. Как говорят знающие люди, она, к несчастью, родилась в весьма плохой семье. И то,что ее взяли в приемную семью и далее далее- иногда кажется что это просто Рука Всевышнего. Брат ее матери был музыкант ( саксофонист).который и услышал и направил ребенка.И когда это понимаешь возникает вопрос: а само ли все присходит в этом мире? А так добро пожаловать в клуб Дианы.Вход туда - одна монета - выход три. И ты слушаешь,слушаешь. Начиная с Oh Darling ( McCortney) где ей ок 10 ЛЕТ, у нее нет провальных песен.Ни каверов ни оригинальных. Как - то так.

that's one side of her that makes her so special to me. ..and this is the difference between Dimash (and many others) and Diana - at least for me.
When "Others" perform, it seems to me that they are consciously showing off and trying to evoke emotions in the audience.
In contrast, when Diana performs, I feel like she's just doing what she wants to do, and I'm in a privileged position to be able to witness it.
