Nice video. 3 keys to a better thousand island dressing in my opinion. Basic recipe 2 parts mayo 1 part ketchup 1 part relish 1/2 part chopped onion 1 tsp Cajun/Creole seasoning 1. Some heat- Not a lot but chop up a jalapeno or two with your relish or use Cajun seasoning instead of seasoning salt. 2. Tang-To counter the over sweet ketchup add some mustard. I add 2 tsp brown mustard and i prefer dill relish to sweet. Some of the original recipes used Worcestershire sauce. She uses lemon juice here. 3-Hard boiled eggs. Either in the salad or even in the dressing. Some early recipes added an egg to thicken the dressing. It just makes the dressing richer and thicker. Certainly a must for people who like deviled eggs.
One thing I love to add is some Saracha and some crushed pineapple which adds a little heat and sweetness. Thank you for the video. I liked and subscribed.

🍸 Russian Thousand Island dressing. 1 finely chopped onion. 1 cup Mayonnaise 1/2 cup Tbsp ketchup 2 Tbsp sweet pickle relish 2 tsp paprika 1 tsp Lemon juice Catalina dressing ½ cup ketchup ½ cup red wine vinegar ½ cup canola oil ¼ cup white sugar ½ cup onion powder, diced 1 tsp garlic 1 tsp oregano 1 teaspoon paprika
Sorry, that recipe is NOT "made from scratch". You are using prepared foods like mayo, ketchup, and relish. Here is the distinction: From scratch means eggs, oil, tomato paste, vinegar, sugar, pickles, spices, etc.. then your recipe is NOT using any prepared food so it can be called "made from scratch".

hello there, in my country is very difficult to find white onion, can i replace with the red or purple onion but only the center? thanks a lot!
You can use any type of onion :)
I think Chef's Knife would be a better choice for chopping. Good recipe nevertheless..
Glad you liked the recipe!
Not bad ⚡️
Thanks! 😊 I’m glad you think so! If you try it out, let me know how it goes! ⚡️✨
I'm a SALAD FOODIE. How about other salad dressings.
I don’t have any other dressing recipe videos yet, but thanks for the suggestion, maybe I can make them in future videos 🤗
@@MelanieCooksRecipes I would love for you to make a video on Chinese chicken salad dressing.
Chopping onions with a pea ring knife.. awesome.. at least she didn’t cut one of her fingers off…

To me it’s from scratch as long as it’s not 1000 island dressing from the bottle 😂
